Real-Time Traffic Information Collection Using Multiple Virtual Detection Lines (다중 가상 검지선을 이용한 실시간 교통정보 수집)

  • ATIS(Advanced Traveler Information System) is the system to offer a real-time traffic information or traffic situation for the benefit of the client. One of traffic information collection methods for ATIS research is the method of image analysis. The method is divided into two : one is the method to set two loop detectors at the area and the other is the method detecting the vehicle through an image analysis. In this paper, we propose a real-time traffic information collection system to mix two methods. The system installs multiple virtual detection lines and traces the location of the vehicle. Use of multiple virtual detection lines supplements the defect of the method of loop detectors. And we drew a representative pixels in the detecting area and used it for image analysis. This is to solve the problem of time delay which increases as the image size increases. We gathered traffic images and experimented using the system and got 92.32% of detection accuracy.

  • 보안첨단화의 필요성 증대로 인하여 복합적이고 고기능의 보안 감시 시스템의 수요가 급속도로 확대되면서 보안은 안전하고 행복한 생활을 만드는데 없어서는 안될 중요한 역할을 하게 되었다. 최근, 디지털 영상기술의 급속한 발달과 보급은 이러한 보안 감시 시스템을 가능하도록 하였다. 본 논문은 다수의 카메라로부터 사람들의 움직임을 연속적으로 식별하고 추적할 수 있는 향상된 지능화 방법을 제안한다. 이 방법을 통해 카메라들 간의 위상이 자동으로 구성되고 객체의 움직임을 기반으로 학습하여 카메라들간의 거리, 객체와 카메라와의 거리, 카메라의 각도를 자동적으로 연산할 수 있도록 하였다. 이러한 자가 구성 단계 이후에 사람의 움직임을 추적하게 된다. 추적에서 사람들을 식별하는 단계가 선행되어야 하며, 이를 위해 머리, 몸, 손, 다리로 분리하여 각각의 정보들을 식별자로 사용하였다. 이러한 외형 식별자와 객체의 출몰간의 시간차를 이용해 다수의 카메라들로부터 객체를 연속적으로 추적하였다.

Forecasting of Motorway Path Travel Time by Using DSRC and TCS Information (DSRC와 TCS 정보를 이용한 고속도로 경로통행시간 예측)

  • Path travel time based on departure time (PTTDP) is key information in advanced traveler information systems (ATIS). Despite the necessity, forecasting PTTDP is still one of challenges which should be successfully conquered in the forecasting area of intelligent transportation systems (ITS). To address this problem effectively, a methodology to dynamically predict PTTDP between motorway interchanges is proposed in this paper. The method was developed based on the relationships between traffic demands at motorway tollgates and PTTDPs between TGs in the motorway network. Two different data were used as the input of the model: traffic demand data and path travel time data are collected by toll collection system (TCS) and dedicated short range communication (DSRC), respectively. The proposed model was developed based on k-nearest neighbor, one of data mining techniques, in order for the real applications of motorway information systems. In a feasible test with real-world data, the proposed method performed effectively by means of prediction reliability and computational running time to the level of real application of current ATIS.

  • The aim of this study is to propose economical driving speed index which those are geometric road status; assess the levels of which those cost-benefit of driving energy consumption and emission; are search road safety design and operational technology for driving simulator. For the objective, we analyzed the current status of driving energy consumption and driving scenarios by the road alignments, and reviewed driving and technical specifications by the geometric types of road according to the implementation, and extended completion. Throughout the result of this study, diverse related driving information provision service, efficiently navigation driving module is expected to be implemented in the national highway design system.

  • 외계행성 탐색시스템으로 관측한 영상은 한국천문연구원 본원에 있는 자료처리 시스템으로 실시간 전송된다. 이를 위해 한국과학기술정보연구원이 운영 중인 첨단망과 UDP 전송 프로그램을 활용하고 있으며 연간 약 140TB의 관측 영상을 칠레 55Mbps, 남아공 39Mbps, 호주 410Mbps의 속도로 전송하고 있다. 관측 영상이 전송되면 MEF 포맷으로 구조화 하고 bias, flat, crosstalk 보정과 bad pixel masking 등의 전처리 과정을 거쳐 각 연구과제별로 실시간 배포하고 있다. 중력렌즈 연구를 위한 우리 은하 중심부 관측영상은 차감영상 기법을 사용하여 약 3억 개의 별에 대해 측광하고 있으며, $18K{\times}18K$ 크기의 대용량 관측 영상을 빠르고 효율적으로 처리하기 위해 256개로 분할하여 분산처리하고 있다. 2014년부터 자료처리를 위한 시스템을 구축하고 증설하였으며 현재 11대의 서버(212Core)와 2.7PB의 NAS 스토리지를 운영하며 연간 700TB이상의 자료를 처리하고 있다. 우리은하 중심부 측광자료에서 검출된 변광 현상을 정리하여 측광데이터베이스를 구축하였다. 본 발표에서는 KMTNet 실시간 자료처리 과정에 대한 상세한 내용과 향후 자료처리 시스템 개선방향에 대해 소개한다.

A Simulation-Based Investigation of an Advanced Traveler Information System with V2V in Urban Network (시뮬레이션기법을 통한 차량 간 통신을 이용한 첨단교통정보시스템의 효과 분석 (도시 도로망을 중심으로))

  • More affordable and available cutting-edge technologies (e.g., wireless vehicle communication) are regarded as a possible alternative to the fixed infrastructure-based traffic information system requiring the expensive infrastructure investments and mostly implemented in the uninterrupted freeway network with limited spatial system expansion. This paper develops an advanced decentralized traveler information System (ATIS) using vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication system whose performance (drivers' travel time savings) are enhanced by three complementary functions (autonomous automatic incident detection algorithm, reliable sample size function, and driver behavior model) and evaluates it in the typical $6{\times}6$ urban grid network with non-recurrent traffic state (traffic incident) with the varying key parameters (traffic flow, communication radio range, and penetration ratio), employing the off-the-shelf microscopic simulation model (VISSIM) under the ideal vehicle communication environment. Simulation outputs indicate that as the three key parameters are increased more participating vehicles are involved for traffic data propagation in the less communication groups at the faster data dissemination speed. Also, participating vehicles saved their travel time by dynamically updating the up-to-date traffic states and searching for the new route. Focusing on the travel time difference of (instant) re-routing vehicles, lower traffic flow cases saved more time than higher traffic flow ones. This is because a relatively small number of vehicles in 300vph case re-route during the most system-efficient time period (the early time of the traffic incident) but more vehicles in 514vph case re-route during less system-efficient time period, even after the incident is resolved. Also, normally re-routings on the network-entering links saved more travel time than any other places inside the network except the case where the direct effect of traffic incident triggers vehicle re-routings during the effective incident time period and the location and direction of the incident link determines the spatial distribution of re-routing vehicles.

Vision-based Real-time Vehicle Detection and Tracking Algorithm for Forward Collision Warning (전방 추돌 경보를 위한 영상 기반 실시간 차량 검출 및 추적 알고리즘)

  • The cause of the majority of vehicle accidents is a safety issue due to the driver's inattention, such as drowsy driving. A forward collision warning system (FCWS) can significantly reduce the number and severity of accidents by detecting the risk of collision with vehicles in front and providing an advanced warning signal to the driver. This paper describes a low power embedded system based FCWS for safety. The algorithm computes time to collision (TTC) through detection, tracking, distance calculation for the vehicle ahead and current vehicle speed information with a single camera. Additionally, in order to operate in real time even in a low-performance embedded system, an optimization technique in the program with high and low levels will be introduced. The system has been tested through the driving video of the vehicle in the embedded system. As a result of using the optimization technique, the execution time was about 170 times faster than that when using the previous non-optimized process.

  • The increase of vehicles stagnations leads to the increasing attention to the way customers pay and a large number of Projects on electronic cash system. Tranport system is comprised of a number of advanced technologies, including information processing, communications, control, and electronics. Recently many research on a system which provides contact in order to protect driver's vehicle passage have been carried out. And some potential problems from that system are being reviewed by electronic cash system. In this papers, we suggest RF protocol developing technology using the concept of electronic cash. ATM electronic cash developing is consist of component of pre-developed coin throw, integration of component using its, and production of more requirement-satisfactory ITS solution. Result increase 15-40% pre-type vehicles stagnations. Especially, we expect this proposed concept would be well adapted to our national environments.

  • We present a nearby vehicle detection method in the adjacent lane using in-vehicle front view camera. Nearby vehicles in adjacent lanes show various appearances according to their relative positions to the host vehicle. Therefore, most conventional methods use motion information for detecting nearby vehicles in adjacent lanes. However, these methods can only detect overtaking vehicles which have faster speed than the host vehicle. To solve this problem, we use the feature of regions where nearby vehicle can appear. Consequently, our method cannot only detect nearby overtaking vehicles but also stationary and same speed vehicles in adjacent lanes. In our experiment, we validated our method through various whether, road conditions and real-time implementation.
