Zhangshi(張?)′s theory of moral self-cultivation (장식(張?)의 수양 공부론)

  • Zhangshi(張?) is a distinguished Chinese scholar, who is known as the South-east Three sages with Zhuxi(朱熹) Luzujian(呂祖謙). He is well known for his influence through exchanges of ideas with Zhu xi, but the research on his ideas is rather poor. This paper aims to understand the ideology in general by looking deeper into the study of Zhangshi's self-cultivation. Contents of his self-cultivation especially emphasized the subject of the mind in the way establishing the unity of heaven and human within the theory mind based on metaphysical foundation. It would be very meaningful to study his theory of self cultivation in his ideological tendencies. this essay Based on the unity of heaven and human, especially uniting the ways of heaven and morality, this essay is approaches to the way of self-cultivation. This paper first examines the meaning of heaven and human for Zhangsi, and presents a self-cultivation method as a unified method in two categories of relationships This not only emphasizes the subject of the mind in the process of realizing the unity of heaven and human, but also to highlight the possibility of human becoming one with the heaven. This research will be an important research work in understanding Zhangshi's own philosophical system.

  • 여타 다른 학문분야에서 주장되지 않는 정보과학(情報科學)에 대한 정립(定立)은 Kari Popper의 제 3 세계 - 객관적(客觀的) 지식(知識)의 세계(世界) - 고도(高度)의 자율성(自律性)을 인정함으로써 발견 될 수 있다는 것을 우선적으로 논의하게 된다. 따라서 정보과학의 임무란 객관적(客觀的) 지식(知識)의 세계(世界)를 탐구(探究)하는 것으로 정의(定議)를 내릴 수 있으며, 또한 도큐멘테이션과 도서관학의 영역을 확대시키는 것도 되지만, 양자(兩者)는 분명히 구별되어야 한다. Popper 식(式)의 존재론은 정보(情報) 개념(槪念) 및 주관적(主觀的) 객관적(客觀的) 지식(知識)들과의 관계가 확대되어 수용되어져야 한다. 그리하여 Popper의 세가지 세계의 공간영역들은 고찰(考察)의 대상이 된다. 인식과 물리적인 공간은 동일(同一)하지 않으며, 이러한 동일성(同一性)의 결여가 정보현상에 대한 적절한 정량화(定量化)를 저지시키는 문제를 발생케하는 요인이 된다고 주장하고 있다.

Uniqueness and Major Issues of Neuroethics (신경윤리의 독자성과 주요 쟁점들)

  • This paper aims to examine the philosophical significance of neuroethics and its unique position within the cognitive paradigm, and to discuss major issues of neuroethics. Recent advances in neuroscience enable more direct access and intervention to human mind, which reduces the distinction between matter and mind and brings up new philosophical questions on human nature. Neuroethics takes interdisciplinary and integrative approach, in order to deal with the ethical issues related to new findings and technology of neuroscience that cannot be covered by the traditional legal and social systems. Some of the ethical issues of neuroscience overlap with the classical bioethics problems but majority of major issues are unique to neuroethics. These issues are mainly related to mind reading through the observation and decoding of brain activities and to cognitive enhancement through directly manipulating brain functions. Considering the current status and trends of Korean neuroscientific research, it is necessary to begin in-depth discussion of neuroethical issues with the collaboration among experts in related fields.

  • 본 논문에서는 미래 정보 사회에의 핵심인 정보교육에 적합한 컴퓨터 교육의 방향을 초등교육을 중심으로 논하였다. 이를 위해 관련 선행 문헌연구를 통해 정보사회에서의 컴퓨터 교육의 필요성과 방향을 살펴보고, 현재 7차 교육과정에서의 컴퓨터 교육을 분석하여 문제점을 제기하였다. 또한, ACM과 IEEE의 컴퓨터 과학 분야의 교육과정 연구를 바탕으로 새로운 초등 컴퓨터 교육에서의 교육과정의 방향을 수학적, 과학적, 사회적, 철학적, 통합적 관점으로 고찰하여 제시하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 초등 컴퓨터 교육의 목표와 내용을 재구성하였다. 본 연구는 향후 8차 교육과정의 개편에 있어서 컴퓨터 교육의 발전에 도움을 주리라 기대된다.

A Study on the formative principles of Freobel′s Gifts (프뢰벨 은물의 시각적 조형원리에 대한 연구)

  • The Gifts that Freobel devised in 1837 were the first instructional media using concrete and systematic toys as materials for early childhood education. The shapes of hexahedrons, cylinders and balls and conception of point, line, plane and six colors shown in the forms of Freobel's Gifts are the basics of formative elements in modem design. However, the Gifts, or educational toys, which were presented to practice Freobel's educational ideas actually in the educational fields were hardly examined or analyzed from the viewpoint of design. In this study, the structural principles, which were applied to the plastic formation of the Gifts under the influence of Freobel's educational philosophy, are examined by analyzing the visual formative characteristics of Freobel's Gifts. Accordingly, through an analysis on the formative principles of the Gifts, it is studied how a system of abstract and philosophical thought was visually applied to forms. This study is a probing research on the formative characteristics presented in the Gifts and is an investigation of formation theory about geomatrice forms. The effects and problems of the formative features of teaching materials for little children are also examined from the viewpoint of design in this study.

A Study on the Issue of "Existence" for Merleau-Ponty (메를로-퐁티에 있어서 '실존'의 문제)

  • Given that the goal of study lies in the pursuit of truth and that philosophy asks questions about the origin of being, dealing with existence rather than essence is distant from the original meanings of philosophy. In spite of this, people talk about existence because it is closely related to the academic goals of phenomenology. It is true that phenomenology is Wesenswissenschaft ("the science of essences") in that it tries to restore the original nature of philosophy and establish philosophy as a strict science, but it cannot be ignored in phenomenological research that essence starts from existence. The purpose of this study is to examine the issues that traditional philosophy has sought after and missed by focusing on the issue of "existence." Existence is man's participation in the world, thus being expressed as being-to-the-world. All that has been perceived is understood in total unity and accordingly cannot be restored to ideological essence. In the end, the issue of existence should make a new start at the root of perception. Man is a thinking being and, at the same time, acting being. Here, an attempt to determine the priority between thinking and acting will be meaningless, indeed, and make an issue where there is none. Human beings will not thus stay at Descartes cogito argument' and try to go out into the world through the door opened by cogito. With these reasons in mind, this study examines the issue of existence with a focus on a phenomenal field and body.

Study on the Maximum Number of Lyrics, Pictures, Music, and Movies that Human Can Make due to the Characteristics of Digital Contents (디지털 콘텐츠의 본질로 인해 인류가 만들 수 있는 노래가사, 사진, 음악, 영화의 최대 개수에 관한 고찰)

  • Recently, retro music is popular in the domestic music industry. Even in the movie industry, remake or retro movies are made continuously. In this paper, we consider the reason of remake in the viewpoint of mathematics and show that there is a maximum number of lyrics, pictures, music, and movies that human can make due to the characteristics of digital contents. The time that human cannot make new lyrics, new pictures, new music, and new movies any more will be estimated. Therefore, artists will have difficulties to make new contents in the future, and human have to listen and see the previous lyrics, movies, music, or pictures in the future. This study will give a deep philosophical insight for contents industry.

Eine Verstaendnis fuer die Si Dan(四端) in dem Mengtzu unter dem Gesichtspunkt der Bedeutung des Abbruchs der Selbstliebe in der Kriktik der praktischen Vernunft (『실천이성비판』의 자기 사랑의 단절 의미로 읽어본 『맹자』의 사단(四端))

  • In diesem Aufsatz werden die Si Dan(四端) in dem Mengtzu durch die Bedeutung des Abbruchs der Selbstliebe in der Kriktik der praktischen Vernunft projiziert und gelesen. Fuer Kant ist die Befriedigung der Neigungen die subjektiven Bestimmungsgruenden seiner Willkuer. Nach ihnen macht sich selbst das allgemeine Prinzip der Selbstliebe die eigene Glueckseligkeit "zum objektiven Bestimmungsgrund." Das moralische Gesetz schlaegt jenes subjektive Prinzip der Selbstliebe nieder, und das bedeutet die Si Dan(四端) in dem Mentzu. Die Si Dan sind die Bestimmungsgruende der menschlichen Wesen. Das Subjekt des moralischen Gesetzes bricht deswegen seine Selbstliebe ab und richtet sich an sozialen Gemeinschaft, weil die Selbstlibe fuer den Individualismus.

주자(朱子)의 『중용(中庸)』해석에 관한 고찰

  • 이 논문은 중국 남송시대 성리학의 집대성자인 주자(朱子)(1130-1200)가 "중용"을 어떻게 분장절(分章節)하고, 그 구성을 어떻게 이해하였으며, 나아가 "중용"을 어떤 책으로 규정하면서 어떤 입장을 갖고 해석하였는지를 살펴보는 것을 목표로 한다. 주자는 이정(二程)형제가 "중용"을 "공문(孔門)에서 전한 심법(心法)"으로 정의한 입장을 수용하면서, "중용(中庸)"을 표창(表彰)하여 "예기(禮記)"에서 분리 독립시켜 사서(四書)의 하나로 정립하였다. 그는 40세 전후에 "장구" 및 "혹문"의 초고를 완성하고, 20여년 간 수정한 끝에 "중용장구"의 서문을 썼다. 주자는 "중용"이란 글을 최초로 나름의 원칙을 갖고 유기적인 체계속에서 33장으로 분장(分章)하고, 사대절(四大節) 혹은 육대절(六大節)로 그 체계를 나누었다. 그는 이러한 분장절(分章節)을 통해 "중용"이란 책은 중화(中和), 중용(中庸), 군자지도(君子之道)의 비은(費隱), 천도(天道)로서의 성(誠)과 인도(人道)로서의 성지(誠之), 그리고 천인합일의 길을 제시한 책으로 구성되어 있다고 말하였다. 나아가 우리는 주자가 "중용"이란 책을 공자의 손자인 자사(子思)가 도통의 단서를 계승하기 위해서 기술한 책이라고 말하면서, "서경(書經)" "대우모(大禹謨)"의 구절과 "중용"의 내용이 합치된다고 하는 주장을 살폈다. 마지막으로 우리는 주자의 "중용"해석에서 나타난 특징을 살펴보았다. 주자는 나름의 일관된 철학적 형이상학적 입장을 갖고 "중용"을 해석하였는데, 그의 해석에는 이기론(理氣論), 이일분수설(理一分殊說), 성즉리(性卽理), 성발위정론(性發爲情論), 그리고 존양(存養) 성찰(省察)의 수양법 등이 고스란히 반영되어 있다는 것을 살폈다. 그리고 우리는 주자가 이런 "중용" 해석을 통해 유학의 정통성을 정립함과 동시에 도불(道佛)을 위시한 여타 학파를 비판 극복하려고 했다는 점을 살폈다.

A Critical Review of 'Modernity' in Modern Buddhist Studies of Korea (한국 근대불교 연구에서의 '근대성'에 대한 비판적 고찰)

  • This article is a reflective study on the 'modern' and 'modernity' in 'Modern Buddhism of Korea' research discourse. First, we raise the issue on how to define and describe the 'modern' in the recent 'Modern Buddhism of Korea' research. We raise some questions about whether there is the concept of "modernity" properly explained and agreed in Buddhist academia of Korea. And we will try to propose its solution. Next, we will briefly review the characteristics of 'modern' and 'modernity' in the flow of history of the West, which have never been discussed in the research discourse of "Modern Buddhist studies of Korea.' We will raise questions about whether it is possible to find a 'modernity' in itself what it is, and is further expected really 'modern' or 'modernity' in Korean conditions on the basis of this review. Finally, this article seeks to reveal what premises must be kept in mind in the 'Modern Buddhist studies of Korea', by critically reviewing researches of "Modern Buddhist studies of Korea".
