Analysis and Investigation of International(UIC, EN, IEC) and Domestic Standards(Test Methods) for Climatic Wind Tunnel Test of Rolling Stock (철도차량 기후환경시험을 위한 국제 규격(UIC, EN, IEC) 및 국내 규격(시험방법) 분석 및 고찰)

  • The demand for the development of rolling stock technology to maintain the best performance in various climatic environments has increased to expand the overseas market of rolling stock. In this study, international and domestic standards that must be applied to build a harsh climatic environment test system were investigated and compared. The way of improvement for domestic standards is proposed. The wind velocities and temperatures are specified in the UIC, EN, and IEC standards for climatic wind tunnel, and EN 50125-1 provides the velocity test up to 180km/h, the largest wind speed. UIC and EN provide the lowest temperature of -45℃, and IEC 62498-1 provides the highest temperature 55℃. The solar radiation test was specified up to 1200W/m2 in the UIC, EN, and IEC. The IEC, EN, and KS R 9145 provide the water tightness standards, which are different from each other in water capacity, pressure, and methods. The snow test method was not well specified. KRTS-VE-Part 31 provides pressurization test methods. The airtightness standards for high-speed rolling stock are defined and regulated for internal pressure change rate in UIC 660 and 779-11. The domestic standard for the wind tunnel test was not well prepared, and the solar radiation test and snow test do not exist in Korea. Therefore, it is necessary to improve domestic standards to an international level for the climatic wind tunnel test of rolling stock.

The Information Modeling Method based on Extended IFC for Alignment-based Objects of Railway Track (선형중심 객체 관리를 위한 확장된 IFC 기반 철도 궤도부 정보모델링 방안)

  • An Industry Foundation Classes(IFC), which is a data schema developed focusing on architecture, is being expanded to civil engineering structures. However, it is difficult to create an information model based on extended IFC since the BIM software cannot provide support functions. To manage a railway track based on the extended IFC, this paper proposed a method to create an alignment-centered separated railway track model and convert it to an extended IFC-based information model. First, railway track elements have been classified into continuous and discontinuous structures. The continuous structures were created by an alignment-based software, and discontinuous structures were created as independent objects through linkage of the discretized alignment. Second, a classification system and extended IFC schema for railway track have been proposed. Finally, the semantic information was identified by using the property of classification code and user interface. The availability of the methods was verified by developing an extended IFC-based information model of the Osong railway site.

Advanced Sensor Communication Algorithm based on IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee for High Speed Train Environment (고속 철도 환경을 위한 IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee 기반 개선된 센서 통신 알고리즘)

  • Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is used in the railway field in terms of efficient management and maintenance. Sensor communication technology based on IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee is used in low speed train. However, it is difficult to apply in the high speed train that exposed to severe wireless channel environments. In this paper, we propose the sensor communication algorithm for high speed train environment. we improve error rate and throughput using Equalizer, Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO), Flexible Spreading Factor (SF) and Modulation. Also, we have analyzed the performance of the IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee based on the standard of physical layer of 2.4GHz band in each algorithms. Simulation results show that proposed algorithms can improve error rate and throughput of conventional system.

The Effect of Fumed Silica on Nitrate Reduction by Zero-valent Iron (흄드 실리카가 영가철에 의한 질산성질소 환원에 미치는 영향)

  • The effect of silica(fumed) on nitrate reduction by zero-valent iron(ZVI) was studied using batch experiment. The reduction of nitrate was tested in three different aqueous media including de-ionized water, artificial groundwater and real groundwater contaminated by nitrate. Kinetics of nitrate reduction in groundwater were faster than those in de-ionized water, and first-order rate constant($k_{obs}$) of ZVI/silica(fumed) process was about 2.5 time greater than that of ZVI process in groundwater. Amendment of Silica(fumed) also decreased ammonium presumably through adsorption on silica surface. The pHs in all processes increased due to oxidation of ZVI, but the increase was lower in groundwater due to buffering capacity of groundwater. The result also showed amount of reduced nitrate increased as initial nitrate concentration increased in groundwater. Separate adsorption isotherm experiments indicated that fumed silica itself had some degree of adsorption capacity for ammonium. The overall results indicated that silica(fumed) might be a promising material for enhancing nitrate reduction by ZVI.

  • Cooperative networks enhance the overall communication performance by combining signals from relay nodes and direct signal. In this paper, we analyze the performance of cooperative communication systems which use mixed relaying protocols. By assuming several relay nodes exist between the source node and destination node, we consider the systems use not a single relaying protocol but both decode-and-forward and amplify-and-forward protocols randomly. We analyze the effect of each relying protocol for the overall system performance, and also consider the performance depending on the relay location. Differential modulation scheme which demodulates signal without channel state information is adopted where it can be applicable fast varying channel such as railway environments.

Research on the Production of CO2 Absorbent Using Railway Tie Concrete Waste (콘크리트 철도 침목 폐기물을 활용한 CO2 포집제 제조 연구)

  • In recent years, excessive emissions of carbon dioxide(CO2) have become the cause of global climate change. Consequently, there has been significant research activity aimed at both removing and utilizing CO2. This study assesses the potential utilization of railway tie concrete waste, generated from railway infrastructure, as a CO2 absorption material and investigates the physicochemical properties before and after CO2 absorption to understand the CO2 removal mechanisms. Railway tie concrete waste primarily consists of Si(26.60 %) and contains 9.82 % of Ca. Compared to samples of Cement and Normal concrete waste, it demonstrated superior potential for use as a CO2 absorption material, with approximately 98 % of the Ca content participating in CO2 absorption reactions. Through Thermogravimetric Analysis(TGA) and X-ray Diffraction(XRD) analysis, it was confirmed that the carbonate reaction, where the Ca in railway tie concrete waste converts into CaCO3 through reaction with CO2 gas, is the primary mechanism for CO2 removal. Furthermore, Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM) analysis revealed the formation of numerous CaCO3 particles with sizes less than 0.1 ㎛ after the CO2 absorption reaction. This transformation of large internal voids in the CO2 absorption material into mesopores resulted in an increase in the specific surface area of the material.

  • 전기철도 분야에서 전자기파에 의한 환경영향 평가는 중요한 요소가 되고 있으며 급전시스템, 신호시스템, 차량시스템 등으로 나누어 각각에 대한 전자기파 환경 영향에 대한 평가에 관한 사항이 연구 중에 있다. 특히 신호시스템 중, AF(Audio Frequency)궤도회로는 철도차량과의 빈번한 통신을 통하여 철도차량 제어에 많은 역할을 담당하므로 잡음에 취약하고 오동작은 사고로 직결되므로 이러한 잡음에 대한 평가는 중요하다 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 전기철도차량과 신호시스템 중 AF궤도회로와의 전자기적합성을 입증할 수 있는 고조파 분석을 통한 전도성잡음의 시험 및 평가에 대한 방안을 제시한다.

Transmission Performance of Sensor Network based on LTE-R (LTE-R 기반 센서 네트워크의 전송 성능)

  • The communication between train and it's moving environments is considered as a necessity factor to support accuracy and safety for operation of train. Communication structure and performance between sensor and train used to measure and monitor between train and it's moving environments is required in operation of the train. In this paper, railway sensor network based on LTE-R is described and analyzed for moving train to support effective measure operation and environment data from various sensor devices located through railway and then transfer the data to data control center. Finally, implementation requirement for railway sensor network is suggested.

  • In the second part of the paper, a design strategy for an apartment complex constructed at a railway depot is proposed for vibration reduction purposes. Various design parameters such as the vehicle operating speeds, artificial land behavior, housing support structure, and apartment sub-structures are individually examined to reduce the transmission of vibrations through building structures. Building construction on an artificial land should be subjected to regulations that require the application of a vibration reduction scheme based on the mechanics that govern the vibration transmission phenomena. The implementation of these parameters at an early design stage will provide a quiet living environment for residents who may be exposed to excessive noise and vibration.
