Railway Communication Policy Proposal for Interoperability Implementation of Railroad Line on North-South Korean Railway (남북철도 선로분야 상호운영성 구축를 위한 철도통신정책 제안)

  • The two Koreas agreed to pursue rail and road connections on September 19, 2018 in the Pyongyang Joint Declaration. In December 2018, they launched a joint investigation for the North Korean railway modernization project. The survey confirmed that the track condition is seriously aging so that it is impossible to operate, and the railway network is well connected to major cities. Therefore, it was reasonable to modernize the aging track of the existing railway network rather than construct a new railway network. This paper proposed the railway communication policy for the improvement of railway lines and the construction of the railway wireless network by analyzing the status of roadbeds and tracks in order to enhance interoperability for the inter-Korean railway connection and safety for preventing the railway accidents.

  • 몇 년 사이에 IoT는 통신 프로토콜과 디바이스 중심의 단순한 개념에서 점점 진화 하여, 디바이스, 인터넷기술, 그리고 사람(사물, 데이터 등)이 보안, 프라이버시, 신뢰도 문제를 해결하는 것까지 포함한 비즈니스 혁신, 재현성, 상호 운용성을 위한 완전한 생태계를 창조하는 것으로 개념이 바뀌어 가고 있다. IERC는 실제와 가상의 사물들이 고유특성과 물리적 가상적 특성을 가지고 있고, 지능형 인터페이스를 사용하며, 끊김없이 정보네트워크를 통합 하는 표준과 상호운용 통신 프로토콜을 기반으로 자기 스스로 재구성이 가능한 동적인 글로벌 네트워크 인프라로 정의함으로써 IoT의 범위를 인프라까지 확대 정의하고 있는 추세이다. 이와 같은 IoT 영역이 확대되면서, 일반적으로 IoT의 4대 기술 분야를 센싱기술, 유 무선 통신 네트워크 기술, 플랫폼 기술 및 서비스 기술로 분류하고 있으며, 이 중에서 다양한 전파서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 무선통신망 구축이 필수이며, 이를 실현하기 위해서는 주파수 자원 확보가 매우 중요하다. 본고에서는 이를 실현화 시킬 수 있는 동북아지역 IoT주파수 동향 및 표준화에 대하여 결과를 제시하고자 한다.

  • As smart-phones become popular, mobile data traffic has been dramatically increasing and intensive researches on the next-generation mobile communication network is in progress to meet the increasing demand for mobile data traffic. In particular, heterogeneous network (HetNet) is attracting much interest because it can significantly enhance the network capacity by increasing the spatial resue with macro and small cells. In the HetNet, we have several problems such as load imbalance and interference because of the difference in transmit power between macro and small cells and cell range expansion (CRE) can mitigate the problems. In this paper, we propose a new cell selection scheme with adaptive cell range expansion bias (CREB) for ultra dense HetNet and we analyze the performance of the proposed scheme in terms of average cell transmission rate through system-level simulations and compare it with those of other schemes.

  • In the military field, according to the MIL-STD-188-220, which is an Ad-Hoc communication protocol used for sending out or receiving data and voice smoothly among nodes in the situation that wireless communication nodes move arbitrarily, data communication is cut off because nodes can not know topology changes perpetually in the link disconnection state due to node movement in the case that transmitters do not confirm whether data is delivered to receivers or not, and transmit only the data having routine precedence continuously. In order to solve this problem, we have proposed the technique that makes efficient data communication possible by achieving a rapid topology change detection and link information update using TEST frame. We have analyzed TEST frame application effects in the two aspects of the topology update delay time and the data transmission success ratio.

  • The nodes of Ad-hoc network are made up of location registration for sending informations and a great number of packet transmissions to maintain routing route among the nodes. Under this environment, a huge number of traffics would be generated as mobility variable occurs more than in physical network. Hence, in this paper, focused on to study the relationship of nodes to analyze the extent of the traffic in order to control the traffics of the multi-hop in Ad-hoc.

  • This paper proposes a cognitive engine platform that enables dynamic spectrum access(DSA) based on a spectrum sharing system for the military tactical network environment. The current military tactical wireless communication system is increasing need to secure a supplementary wireless spectrum to ensure that multiple wireless networks for different weapon systems co-exist, so that tactical wireless communication between the same or different systems can be operated effectively. This paper examined policy development and research activities engaged by the U.S. and European countries on wireless spectrum sharing to secure more spectrum. It also introduces the current status of cognitive engine development, which is the core technology of tactical wireless communication for DSA. In addition, based on the investigation performed into the latest trends, we propose a platform structure for a cognitive engine based on a spectrum sharing method where more frequencies can be added for tactical radio communication, so that DSA can be realized, and wireless networks of different weapon systems can co-exist.

  • In the recent, the importance of ubiquitous-related technique is increased as many companies and researchers make an effort to create a new service model using ubiquitous computing and network technologies. Especially, the research of indoor location recognition has gained a lot of interest because it is a critical component for supporting ubiquitous services. Nevertheless, the simulation tool for indoor location recognition hardly has studied compared to their importance. In this paper, we propose a Ptolemy-based simulator over UWB channel that provides short-range and high-bandwidth communication. Finally, we conduct experiments using the proposed simulator and analyze the performance of various location recognition algorithms.

  • 스마트폰의 도입으로 시작된 휴대 인터넷 시대는 패드나 태블릿 형태의 휴대형 이동 단말기의 공급을 통하여 손안에 컴퓨터가 보편적인 시대를 만들어 가고 있다. 사용되는 컨텐츠는 동영상에 주류를 이루어가고 있어서, 트래픽 증가와 함께 컨텐츠 소유 욕구 또한 증대되고 있다. 한편으로 수많은 형태의 이동 무선 단말기와 지능형 가전기기 그리고 카메라와 디바이스 등이 통신 네트워크에 접속하여 사물통신 시대를 만들어 가고 있다. 이러한 사용자의 요구는 이동통신 트래픽의 급격한 증가를 유발 시키고 있으며, 기지국을 경유한 중앙제어 형태에 한계를 드러내어 단말기간의 직접 통신인 지율통신망의 필요성을 느끼게 하고 있다. 단말들의 수많은 정보소통은 주변 장치간에 이루어지며, 생활에 필요한 주요 정보 수집 및 전달은 근접한 기기들과 하게 된다. 이제 더 편한 ICT 세상을 만들기 위하여, 이동 셀룰러 통신에 붙들린 우리 연구개발자의 눈을 근접통신의 창조적 기능 개발로 돌릴 때라고 생각된다.

Link Performance Analysis for Intra-Aircraft Wireless Communications in 4.4GHz (4.4GHz 대역을 활용한 항공기내 무선통신 링크 성능 분석)

  • This paper investigated the channel link budget for Wireless Avionics Intra-Communication (WAIC) in 4.4GHz. The band 4.2~4.2GHz was allocated for the communication service among aeronautical applications in world radiocommunication conference (WRC). Wireless channels in aircraft was modelled by the combination of path loss, shadowing effect caused by obstacles, and fading caused by multipath signals. In addition, wireless channels in aircraft are categorized into 6 groups according to various locations of transmitter and receiver. We analyzed the channel link budget for the 6 channel groups in terms of maximum transmission distance and outage probability. Our analysis and intensive computer simulation results show that the propagation characteristics of group A, B, and F is superior to group C, D, E, and the propagation of group E is the most vulnerable. Also, these results can be utilized as basic reference for the channel analysis of intra-aircraft or similar environment.
