This paper presents the analysis results to evaluate the application of separation sleeper boot of turnout in concrete track in subway. An analysis includes the dynamic load on turnout-bridge and the ballast improvement method of upbound and down line independent girder in servicing line. From the results, the aspect and the property of separation sleeper boot of turnout are evaluated. FE analysis explain the relationship between independent bridge and track behaviour of dynamic loads. The assessment of application based on FE analysis results in a good improvement method of servicing subway line is proposed.

We should manage the target locations according to the deterioration degree of the ballast for the rational and economical ballast cleaning. For this, it's required to define the logics calculating the crushing rates and suggest the threshold values for the ballast cleaning. This paper introduce the system modules that estimate the ballast's deterioration degree refers to the results of the previous study("A Study on the Crushing Characteristic of the Ballast Gravel at High-Speed Railroad", Journal of the Korean Society for Railway, Vol.11, No.4, pp.384~389), enroll the target locations where the ballast cleaning is required.
The ballast gravels are often contaminated by various pollutants, like diesel fuel, lubricants, and heavy metals. Especially, the gravels near the switching are apt to be polluted by the lubricant. Because this lubricant can pollute the soil of track, the contaminated ballast gravels should be cleaned immediately. In this study, a physical desorption method was used to remove the oil contaminants from the surface of the ballast gravels. Thermosetting resin was used as a media for physical remediation of ballast gravels. The total petroleum hydrocarbon of the gravels was monitored over time. In addition, scanning electron microscopic images were obtained to observe the removal of the oily pollutants from the surface of the gravels.
The ballast, one of track components, plays an essential role as intermedium in transmitting train load to subgrade safely, and the deterioration of ballast directly effects the growth of track irregularity. So far, gravel fining of ballast track was mainly related to the repetition of train loads, but was gradually increased with using MTT(Multiple Tie Tamper) recently. Therefore, in this study, an evaluation of the abrasion and crush process of ballast particles was performed with outdoor field test by MTT works. From this study, the amount of abrasion and crush of ballast particles appeared to increase linearly with MTT works, and the gradient of particle size distribution curve appeared to deviate gradually from a criterion of aggregated ballast size distribution in high-speed railroad.
Washed ballast is used on paved track to earn the high quality track performance. But, the water washing system caused the several environment problems such as the noise, dust and water pollution. Even if the washing is performed, it is difficult to earn the high quality because of the low efficiency of the water washing system. So, we developed the dry cleaning type machine to solve these problems. This machine excludes using the water completely. Especially, it is possible to organize on the conventional ballast cleaning train set.
The major objective of this study is to investigate the dynamic behaviors of track due to the deterioration characteristics of ballast for servicing tracks by the field test. The durability of ballast plays an important role in the track behaviour. To estimate the deterioration characteristics of ballast, several tests have been carried out by several shcolars. The deterioration characteristics of ballast is one of the most important factor in the dynamic behaviour of track and its life. In this paper abrasion/breakage characteristics of ballast is studied to predict the effect of physical ballast characteristics on ballast track. To reveal deterioration characteristics of ballast, the field test were carried out. The deterioration characteristics, studied in this paper, is applied to the dynamic behaviour of track in various conditions.

This paper is presented the test results to evaluate the healthiness of the ballast in subway. The test includes the dynamic load test in servicing Line the screen classification test of aggregates and the wear test. From the results, the aspect and the property of the ballast are evaluated. The dynamic load tests the relationship between the deterioration of the ballast and the fluctuation of loads. The assesexplain sment of impact factor based on the field test results in a good property of test blocks is proposed.
The ballast, one of track components, plays an essential role as intermedium in transmitting train load to subgrade safely, and the deterioration of ballast directly effects the growth of track irregularity. In this study, we determined the main factor of ballast deterioration was miniature of ballast gravel caused MTT(Multiple Tie Tamper) works and accumulated traffic loads. To estimate the deterioration characteristics of ballast, we carried out field test through track construction for test and the model test simulating the actual operation environment, have done a comparative analysis with the sample's result(crushing rate) of high-speed railroad running actually.

This paper evaluated the construction costs of 11 design cases to decrease the horizontal forces applied to the abutment. They include two abutment types, which are to improve backfill materials for a reversed T-shaped abutment and geosynthetic Reinforced Abutment for Railways (RAR). The first type of economic analysis was that the internal friction angles of backfill materials were increased from Φ=35° to Φ=40° and 50° for a reversed T-shaped abutment. In addition, the second type was the cases with the design of geosynthetic RAR. When friction angles of 40° or 50° were applied through the improvement of the backfill material, the decrease in construction cost of the abutment was not large (2.0~3.9%), even though the horizontal forces applied to the abutment had decreased to 18~48%. In the case of applying the RAR, however, a maximum 30% cost reduction was evaluated by the decrease in horizontal force to "0" theoretically. The cost reduction resulted from the decrease in wall thickness, base slab size, and number and material change of pile foundation for the abutment.

Recently, concrete tracks are introduced into high-speed railroads as an alternative to ballast tracks. Concrete tracks are superior to ballast tracks in the aspect of durability, maintenance and safety. However, deteriorated stiffness of railroad bed and settlement of soft ground induced by trapped or seepage water lead to problems in safety of train operation. In this research, flexural rigidity of concrete tracks was employed as an index of track displacement and a new seismic technique called FRACTAL (Flexural-Rigidity Assessment of Concrete Tracks by Antisymmetric Lamb Waves) method was proposed to delineate flexural rigidity of concrete tracks in a 2-D image. In this paper, to establish theoretical background, parametric research was performed using numerical simulations of stress-wave tests at concrete tracks. Feasibility of the FRACTAL technique was proved at a real concrete track for Korean high-speed trains. Validity of the FRACTAL technique was also verified by comparing the results of impulse-response tests performed at the same measurement array and the results of DC resistivity survey performed at a shoulder nearby the track.
