  • 철도소화물 부문의 택배시스템 도입은 원가절감이 가능하고, 경쟁력을 갖출 수 있는 장점을 갖추고 있으므로, 현실적으로 매우 필요하다. 택배시스템 도입은 철도청에서 제3자에게 위탁 운영케 하든지, 직접 운영하든지, 별도법인을 만들 수도 있다. 그러나 본고에서는 이러한 내용은 별도의 연구가 있어야할 것으로 보이므로 생략한다. 본고에서는 환경ㆍ제도적인 측면과 운영ㆍ시스템 측면에서 택배시스템을 도입하기 위한 대책방안 만을 강구한다. 본고는 철도소화물시장이 독점적으로 정부의 관할 하에 있기 때문에 철도소화물에 대한 연구가 국내에서 여러 전문가에 의하여 다양하게 전개되지 못하였다는 점이 취약점이다. 따라서 본고도 이러한 환경에서 폭넓은 연구사례를 제기하지 못한다는 한계가 있다. 그러나 설문조사나 인터뷰, 실증자료와 관련 기업과 단체의 내부자료를 통하여 이 문제를 극복하고자 노력하였다.

  • This paper shows the institutional limits of technological innovation at the railway package service, that is the limits of introducing the package express system. The railway package service, owned by government and operated by D company, has been suffered severe operating loss since early 1990's. The package express system supported by information network and co-working with inner city quick service might be an solution for the railway package service. But there are several obstacles such as labor union and the rigidities of the Korean National Railroad of government agency.

  • The carriage of the Parcel by vail has declined sharply in recent decade due to the advent of parcel service by truck in the early 1990s. As a result, rail stations Providing the parcel services have decreased from 421 stations in the year 1973, to only 90 stations in 2005. From the financial perspective, the Parcel consignment expenses has surpassed the revenue, recording 5.2 billion Won of yearly deficit from the year 1999 to 2003. The shift in the train operators' affiliation from a governmental department to a government-funded organization arose due to the vail reform in January 1, 2005, and the train operators have sought to abolish the parcel services to minimize the deficit. In this research. we investigated the problems of rail parcel services, their competitiveness compared to the road parcel services, and their revitalization Possibilities. Finally. we have proposed plans for the abolishment of the rail parcel services, and assessed the possible outcome or this abolishment.

  • In oder to develope a train system for parcel service of high speed railway, which had been proposed for the operation of a high speed train, its conceptual design was build. Through this system, we are able to expect the fulfillment of customer needs for high speed rail market segments, and enhancement for cost-effective rail network operation of the mixed traffic on infrastructure cost-reduction in national logistics.

  • Reliance on road transport in domestic logistics can lead to intensified congestion and greenhouse gas emissions due to the rise in oil prices, any increase in logistics costs can have a high social cost. The government policy on Low Carbon Green Growth is seeking to take advantage of the railway system. However, existing railway transport logistics systems, for reasons such as low speed, low track capacity constraints, and the impossibility of implementing a Door to Door system, make it difficult to activate a railway logistics program. As a result of this study, a national R&D project to develop a High-Speed Passenger/Baggage Mixed Train(Hy-SoBex) utilizing the rail capacity constraints to overcome the difficulties of linking an air cargo and freight railway logistics system, we propose a variety of service models and select the optimal service model.

  • It is essential to connect the railroads between South and North Korea in order to the implementation of the Eurasia initiatives and prepare for the normalization of the economic cooperation between south and north Korea as well as the unification. This study provides the strategy to establish the rail logistics network for the normalized trades between south and north Korea, and the accommodation of the logistics demands to China and Russia. The alternative routes were designated and the costs for the rehabilitation were estimated, and suggested the priority for the investment. The Trans-China Rail is prior to the Trans-Siberia Rail in terms of the utility for the logistics and the political value. In connection to the TSR, it is desirable to pass the Seoul-Gyeonggi area where the demand is greater than the other area. This route is limited by the restriction in the capacity, then the Gyeonggi Ring Rail route may be necessary.

  • In a bid to avoid the economic loss resulting from traffic jam in urban area, a deep underground road at 40 m depth has been considered and the first class disaster prevention facilities shall be applied according to domestic guideline. Automatic-monitoring fire extinguishing system designed to use for fire fighting has been widely applied at home and abroad. Recently development and commercialization through theoretical and experimental research to apply to road/railroad sector have been underway. Based on such performance of automatic fire extinguishing system, technical/economic analysis of existing water spray systems was conducted and as a result, it has demonstrated the superiority in terms of fire suppression as well as in cost efficiency. Then to commercialize this system, more diverse studies that will incorporate the characteristics of domestic tunnels are needed and should the system be promoted through institutional improvement, it's expected to become one of the advanced nations with own original technology in a life safety system industry throughout the world.

A Study on Economy Effects of ICT Industry on Transportation Industry -For Convergence of ICT and Transportation- (정보통신산업이 운송산업에 미치는 경제적 효과에 관한 연구 -정보통신과 운송의 융합을 위한-)

  • This study investigates effects of hardware and telecommunication and software service divided by ICT service on each 5 transportations to explore convergence of ICT and Transportation. Research models are production inducing effects, Added Value inducing effects of Demand-Driven model and Shortage cost effects of Supply-Driven model by using data for 2010~2012 of Input-Output Table. Results are that network and software service effects are more impact than hardware effects on transportations. Especially, hardware is impacted heavily on production inducing effect, telecommunications and software services has had a significant impact on the production inducing effect and Shortage cost effects. In addition, by each detail the transportation industries, packages and other transport and road transport is influenced greatly from ICT. On the other hand, rail and water transport are relatively lower impact by ICT, However, the effects of rail and water transport by ICT is grater than investment ratio of ICT. As a result, increasing investment in the ICT services could contribute to development of rail and water transport development.
