Pre-strain Induced Anisotropy of Filled Natural Rubber (선인장에 의하여 유도된 천연고무의 비등방성)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate factor that influences the development of anisotropy in carbon black filled natural rubber vulcanizates. Chain orientation affects tensile strength, stiffness. Parallel sample shows low stress at low deformation, but have high stiffness at high deformation compared to isotropic or perpendicular samples. This study shows that natural rubber(NR) exhibits much larger tensile anisotropy at high strains than SBR. It seems that the parallel sample of NR is dominated by orientation effect at high strains. This oriented chain is expected to act as nuclei for following crystallization during second stretching and facilitates the strain-induced crystallization.

  • Mechanical properties of rubber material are very important in design procedure to assure the safety and reliability of the rubber components. In this paper, the material test and accelerated heat aging test were carried out. In order to investigate the effects of heat-aging on the material properties, hardness, elongation, stress-strain curves and dynamic characteristics were obtained from various test conditions. Also, rubber material coefficients were determined by both the uniaxical and equi-biaxial tensile tests.

Influence of the Type of Curing Agent on Swelling Behavior of Natural Rubber Foam (가교제의 종류가 천연고무 발포체의 팽윤거동에 미치는 효과)

  • The effects of the type of curing agent on the swelling of the natural rubber(NR) sponge applicable to the self-sealing layer of a helicopter fuel tank were investigated. The curing systems employed were peroxide and mixed ones of sulfur and peroxide. The NR compounds were prepared in a kneader and a roll-mill. The compounds were partially cured in a press at high pressure and subsequently cured fully with expansion in another press at atmospheric pressure. The apparent density of the NR sponge was measured and the cell structure was observed with scanning electron microscopy. The swelling experiments were performed at room temperature using toluene, iso-octane, and an aircraft fuel as a solvent. More rapid volume swelling of the NR sponge cured by peroxide was achieved than cured by sulfur and peroxide with similar amount of curing agent added in rubber compounds. The apparent density and cell structure of the sponge were extremely sensitive to the amount of peroxide, which influences again the swelling behavior of the NR sponge. It is important to control properly two reactions of decomposition of foaming agent and crosslinking of NR in the mold to obtain rapid swelling of the NR sponge on contact of the fuel.

Effects of Foaming Temperature and Carbon black Content on the Cure Behaviors and Foaming Characteristics of the Natural Rubber Foams (발포온도와 카본블랙 함량이 천연고무 발포체의 가황거동 및 발포특성에 미치는 영향)

  • To investigate the influence of the foaming temperature and carbon black content on the cure behaviors and foaming characteristics of the foams. natural rubber (NR) was foamed at five temperature zones (145, 150, 155, 160 and $165^{\circ}C$) and different feeding ratios of the carbon black. A decreasing trend of the scorch time, $t_{s2}$ and cure time, $t_{90}$ was observed upon increasing foaming temperature and carbon black content. The optimal temperature for vulcanization and foaming of NRs in this study was considered to be $165^{\circ}C$ where density of the loomed NRs is lower than those at other four temperature regions. The rule rate index of the NRs foamed at $145^{\circ}C$ is smaller than those at 150, 155, 160 and $165^{\circ}C$. The results of the expansion ratio and micrographs of the foamed NRs were founded to support the density characteristics. The thickness of each of the struts formed inside the rubber matrix decreases with increasing the foaming temperature, while it increases with increasing the carbon black content.

천연고무 가류물의 반복대신장피로에 주는 아민계 열화방지제의 효과

  • 아민계열화방지제(이하 아민이라고 한다)를 첨가한 천연고무 순고무가유물에 대해서 고온으로 반복대신장피로를 주어서 응력변화, 피로수명에 주는 열화방지제의 영향을 조사하였다. 아민첨가시료에 대해서 고온으로 반복 신장피로를 가하면 무첨가시료와 동양, 화학응력 연화가 출현했다. 아민첨가시료의 화학응력연화의 임계온도는 NR-DPG로 110℃, NR-MBTS로 110℃, NR-TT로 130℃이며 가교구조의 내열성에 일치하며 무첨가시료의 임계온도보다도 10~30℃높아졌다. 아민첨가시료의 반복신장피로수명은 60℃로 극대화 되어 (NR-DCP만이 40℃이었으나) 무첨가시료의 피로수명은 40℃에서 극대화됐다. 전보에서 보고한 피로수명과 변형률과의 관계식(F=A(εb-ε)n)은 100℃에서 아민첨가시료에 대해서만이 성립하고 무첨가시료에 대해선 성립되지 않았다. 이들의 결과는 아민을 고무에 첨가함으로써 고무의 열산화반응이 억제되었음에 원인하고 있다고 생각된다.
