This paper introduces a test bed for communication protocol schemes of underwater acoustic sensor network, and also shows experimental results obtained from the test bed. As a testing protocol, carrier sense multiple access/collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) is evaluated on underwater acoustic channel. A sensor node is equipped with a DSP control board of ATmega2560 and a commercial underwater modem produced by Benthos. The control board not only manipulates a GPS signal to acquire the information of location and time, but also controls the underwater modem to operate according to the procedure designed for a given testing protocol. Whenever any event takes place such as exchanging control/data packets between underwater modems and acquiring location and timing information, each sensor node reports them through radio frequency (RF) air interface to a central station located on the ground. The four kinds of packets for CSMA/CA, RTS(Request To Send), CTS(Clear to Send), DATA, ACK(Acknowledgement) are designed according to the underwater communication environment and are analyzed through the lake experiment from the point of feasibility of CSMA/CA in underwater acoustic communications.
The previous studies based on a resource-based view of firm highlighted the role of resources within a firm in creating and sustaining competitive advantage. Recent research, however, the relational view points to the importance of inter-firm sources(or relational capital) in creating firm competitiveness. In international business field, the studies on born-global firms also states that when firms are lack of ownership-specific advantages in their internationalization process, they resort to the external partners and social networks to complement their resource scarcity. By adopting the relational view and born-global firms concept, a network-based approach needs to be applied to explain the international strategy of Korean service firms. This is because most of Korean service firms own less ownership-specific advantages than global competitors. This study proposes Korean firms' global network building and exploiting strategy to enhance their international stages of development. The network, for example, Global Korean Tourism Network, enables network members access to the valuable resources and capabilities they are lack of when undergoing internationalization process. This study's contribution is along two dimension. First, even global Korean network is emerging as a major issue in recent years, we could not figure out how to build global Korean network for service firms. This studies gives an answer. Second, we derived what benefits can be gained from the network if Global Korean Tourism Network is developed for hotel, tourism, convention firms' internationalization.

We propose an novel artificial visual attention model that is capable of automatic detection and segmentation of saliency region on natural images in this paper. The proposed model is based on human visual perceptions in biological vision and contains there are main contributions. Firstly, we propose a novel framework of artificial visual attention model based on the opponent process theory using intensity and color features, and an entropy filter is designed to perceive salient regions considering the amount of information from intensity and color feature channels. The entropy filter is able to detect and segment salient regions in high segmentation accuracy and precision. Lastly, we also propose an adaptive combination method to generate a final saliency map. This method estimates scores about intensity and color conspicuous maps from each perception model and combines the conspicuous maps with weight derived from scores. In evaluation of saliency map by ROC analysis, the AUC of proposed model as 0.9256 approximately improved 15% whereas the AUC of previous state-of-the-art models as 0.7824. And in evaluation of salient region segmentation, the F-beta of proposed model as 0.7325 approximately improved 22% whereas the F-beta of previous state-of-the-art models.
Seismic refracrion and reflection surveys were conducted along an E-W trending track of 482 m long in Ilwall-dong, Pohang. End-on spread was employed as source-receiver configuration with 2 m for both geophone interval and offset. Seismic data were acquired using 24 channels at every shot fired every 2 m along the track. Refraction data were interpreted using equations for multi-horizontal layers. Reflection data were processed in the sequence of trace edit, gain control, CMP sorting, NMO correction, mute, common offset gathering, and filtering to produce a single fold seismic section. There are two layers in shallow subsurface of the study area. Upper layer has the P-wave velocities ranging from 267 to 566 m/s and is interpreted as a layer of unconsolidated sediments. Lower layer has P-wave velocities of 1096-3108 m/s and is interpreted as weathered rock to hard rock. Most of the lower layer classified as soft rock. Upper layer has lateral variations in both P-wave velocity and thickness. The upper layer in the eastern part of the seismic line is 3-5 m thick and has P-wave velocity of 400 m/s in average. The upper layer in the western part is 8-10 m thick and has P-wave velocity of 340 m/s in average. The eastern part is interpreted as unconsolidated beach sand, while the western part is interpreted as infilled soil to develop a construction site. Three fault systems of high angle are imaged in seismic reflection section. It is interpreted that the area between these fault systems are relatively safe. Large buildings should be located in the safe ground condition of no fault and footings should be designed to be in the basement rock of 3-10 m deep below the surface.

Analysis of multi-channel seismic reflection profiles acquired from the southwestern margin of Ulleung Basin reveals that the cut and fill structures, which show U-shaped or V-shaped morphology, occur on variable size. The cut and fill structure mostly consists of fine-grained sediments on the well data and is characterized by transparent or semitransparent seismic facies on the seismic section. Such cut and fill structures dominantly occur in the syn-compressional megasequence (MSQ3), which was deposited during basin deformation of late Miocene, among the four megasequences of the study area. These cut and fill structures can be divided into three groups based on their size and formation time. The cut and fill structures of Group I were formed when Dolgorae structure was active, and occurred on a small scale. The cut and fill structures of group II were formed when both Dolgorae structure and Gorae V structure were active, and the number and size of those increased compared with group I. The cut and fill structures of group III were formed when Dolgorae structure was weaken gradually but Gorae V structure kept active, and the number and size of those decreased in comparison with group II. Consequently the cut and fill structures in the southwestern margin of Ulleung basin are interpreted as submarine canyon based on spatial distribution, size and fill sediment. They were controlled by the tectonic movement in response to basin closure and tectonic-induced sediment supply variation.
Analysis of multi-channel seismic reflection profiles collected from the Ulleung Basin reveals that the Quaternary sequence consists of four stratigraphic units separated by erosional unconformities. Individual stratigraphic unit includes eighteen mass transport deposits which are variable in geometric characteristics and spatial distribution. Each mass transport deposit on the seismic profile is acoustically characterized by chaotic or transparent seismic facies, and shows wedge or lens-shaped external geometry. The mass transport deposits, which comprise a succession of stacked wedges, mainly occur on the southern slope, and their thickness gradually decreases toward the basin plain. The time structure map of erosional unconformities shows that a tectonic-induced structural high and troughs toward the northwest and northeast are developed at the central part of the basin. Based on the isochron map, the mass transport deposits, originated from southern part of the study area, transported to the basin plain and can be divided into two groups by the structural high. Consequently, the mass transport deposits within the Quaternary sequence in the Ulleung Basin are largely controlled by the large amounts of sediment supply, dissociation of gas hydrate during the lowstands, and central structural high.

Location tracking system through GPS and Wi-Fi is available at no additional cost in an environment of IEEE 802.11-based wireless network. It is useful for many applications in outdoor environment. However, a previous systems used for general device to tag. It is unsuitable for power aware location tracking system because general devices is more expensive and non-optimized for tracking. The hand-off method of IEEE 802.11 standard is not enough considering power consumption. This thesis analyzes the previous location tracking systems and proposes power aware system. First, we designed and implemented tag to optimize location tracking. Next, we propose low-power hand-off method and low-power behavior model in implemented tag. The proposed hand-off method resolve power problem by using the location information and behavior model minimize power consumption of tag through power-saving mode and the concept of duty cycle. To evaluating proposed methods and system performance, we perform simulations and experiments in real environment. And then, we calculate tag's power consumption based on the actual measured current consumption of each operation. In a simulation result, the proposed behavior model and hand-off method reduced about 98%, 59% than the standard's hand-off and default behavior model.

This paper proposes a new predistortion linearizer with amplitude modulator and PFG(Polar Function Generator) using second order harmonic signals. This linearizer consists of PFG that combine with in-phase and quadrature-phase of second harmonic signals and amplitude modulator in main path. The predistorted third order intermodulation distortion(IMD3) signals that are generated by amplitude modulator with fundamental and PFG signals, improve a amplifier nonlinear characteristics. The proposed linearizer and amplifier have been manufactured and tested to operate in cellular base-station transmitting band$(869\sim894MHz)$. The test results show that IMD3 can be removed by more than 22.5 dB in case of CW 2-tone signals ${\Delta}f=1$ MHz, and the adjacent channel power ratio(ACPR) also can be improved by more than 8.4 dB for CDMA IS-95 1FA signals.

In this paper, a unified potentiostat which can measure the current of both $O_2$-based and $H_2O_2$-based blood glucose sensors with low supply voltage of 1.0V has been designed and verified by simulations and measurements. Potentiostat is composed of low-voltage operational transconductance amplifier, cascode current mirrors and mode-selection circuits. It can measure currents of blood glucose chemical reactions occurred by $O_2$ or $H_2O_2$. The body of PMOS input differentional stage of the operational transconductance amplifier is forward-biased to reduce the threshold voltage for low supply voltage operation. Also, cascode current mirror is used to reduce current measurement error generated by channel length modulation effects. The proposed low-voltage potentiostat is designed and simulated using Cadence SPECTRE and fabricated in Magnachip 0.18um CMOS technology with chip size of $110{\mu}m{\times}60{\mu}m$. The measurement results show that consumption current is maximum $46{\mu}A$ at supply voltage of 1.0V. Using the persian potassium($K_3Fe(CN)_6$) equivalent to glucose, the operation of the fabricated potentiostat was confirmed.
To identify and interpret the distribution and the characteristics of the gas hydrate layers in the Ulleung Basin, we have surveyed and gathered the multi-channel seismic data, Chirp sub-bottom profiler, SeaBeam and 12 m piston core samples since 1996. In previous works, high-resolution seismic profiles showed acoustic anomalies such as acoustic void, acoustic turbidity and pock mark which indicate the presence of gas-charged sediments. The patterns of horizontal degassing cracks originated from free methane expansion is the strong indicator of shallow gas-charged sediments in the core samples. The observation of submarine slides and slumps from destabilizing the sediments in the southern part of the Ulleung Basin may also point out that the gas had been released from gas hydrate dissociation during lowstand of sea level. The multi-channel seismic data show BSR, blanking and phase reversal. The gas hydrate layers above which large-scale shallow gases are distributed exist at the depth of about 200 m from the sea-floor with water depth of 2,100 m. From the interpretation of seismic sections in the southern Ulleung Basin, gas hydrate layers occur in the Pleistocene-Holocene sediments. These gas-charged sediments, acoustic anomalies and BSR may be all related to the existence of gas hydrate layers in the study area.
