  • This study analyzes the characteristic of elementary science-gifted education winner programs in Gifted Education Database (GED) focusing on scientific creativity. For this purpose, an analysis framework to analyze the programs was developed and a total of 840 inquiry activities from 55 winner programs were analyzed according to the analysis framework. The analysis of the results reveal that 'scientific inquiry skill' of the five scientific creativity components was most frequently included in the activities. 'Scientific knowledge content' and 'creative thinking' were also frequently included. However, 'problem solving ability' and 'common factor' were a little included. In the aspects of integration, the integrations between two or three components with five or eight types were frequently found. No integrations were also frequently included although less than the previous categories. The integrations among four with four types or five components were also slightly found. 'Scientific knowledge content', 'scientific inquiry skills', and 'creative thinking' with other components were more frequently found. However, the integrations of 'common factor' or 'problem solving ability' with the other components were less frequently found. Educational implications of these findings are discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate the effect of a teaching-learning plan for teaching about Hanbok to high school students. Results of this study are as follows. First, learning themes in the teaching-learning plan were selected so that the learning objectives could be achieved by gradually advancing from understanding to exploring and finally practicing. Teaching and learning activities for conceptual classes focused on students' exploration and thinking processes. For Making project, students were asked to complete a group artwork using characteristics and images of Hanbok while applying creative thinking and collaboration. Second, the teaching-learning plan was evaluated by comparing students' pre- and post-test scores of knowledge in, perception of, and attitude toward Hanbok; and by analyzing students' journal of reflection and teacher's observation diary. The mean scores of high school student' knowledge, perception and attitude of the post-test were significantly higher than those of pre-test. The content analysis showed that students gained extensive knowledge toward Hanbok and found new values through their classes. Making practices with generation of creative ideas and collaboration has been effective in training a self-directed and a creative learner.

  • $Poincar\acute{e}$ is mathematician and the episodes in his mathematical invention process give suggestions to scholars who have interest in how mathematical invention happens. He emphasizes the value of unconscious activity. Furthermore, $Poincar\acute{e}$ points the complementary relation between unconscious activity and conscious activity. Also, $Poincar\acute{e}$ emphasizes the value of intuition and logic. In general, intuition is tool of invention and gives the clue of mathematical problem solving. But logic gives the certainty. $Poincar\acute{e}$ points the complementary relation between intuition and logic at the same reasons. In spite of the importance of relation between intuition and logic, school mathematics emphasized the logic. So students don't reveal and use the intuitive thinking in mathematical problem solving. So, we have to search the methods to use the complementary relation between intuition and logic in mathematics education.

  • The future society requires not only knowledge but also various competencies, including creativity, cooperative spirit and integrated thinking. This research develops a program for integrating mathematics and information science to enhance important mathematical competencies such as problem-solving and communication. This program does not require much prior knowledge, can be motivated using everyday language and easy-to-access tools, and is based on creative problem-solving activities with multilateral cooperation. The usefulness and rigor of mathematics are emphasized as the number of participants increases in the activities, and theoretical principles stem from the matrix theory over finite fields. Moreover, the activity highlights a connection with error-correcting codes, an important topic in information science. We expect that the real-world contexts of this program contribute to enhancing mathematical communication competence and providing an opportunity to experience the values of mathematics and that this program to be accessible to teachers since coding is not included.
