Change of Contrast Sensitivity According to Light Transmittance of Color Lens (색렌즈의 광투과율에 따른 대비감도 변화)

  • 본 연구는 착색렌즈의 광투과율에 따른 명소시 대비감도의 변화를 분석하여 색렌즈를 착용할 때 색상에 따른 적절한 광투과율 기준을 제시하고자 하였다. 정상 시기능을 가진 남자 24명과 여자 13명을 대상으로, 광투과율 80~90%, 60~80%, 43~60%, 30~43%로 착색된 4개의 색렌즈(회색, 갈색, 적색, 녹색)를 순서대로 착용시키고 F.A.C.T. 시표를 이용하여 대비감도 검사를 실시하였다. 검사 결과, 광투과율이 감소될수록 대비감도는 감소되었고, 시감도는 갈색이 가장 높은 것으로 나타났고, 반대로 적색이 가장 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 대비감도 검사결과를 고려한 색상별 권장 광투과율은 갈색, 회색과 녹색 38% 이상, 적색 52% 이상인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과들로 보아 일상생활에서 눈을 보호할 목적으로 색렌즈를 선택할 때 색상과 그 색상에 적절한 광투과율이 고려되어야 한다.

Effect of Ethephon on Fruit Enlargement and Coloring of 'Fuyu' Persimmon (단감 '부유'의 과실 비대 및 착색에 대한 에테폰의 영향)

  • This research was conducted to investigate effect of ethephon on fruit enlargement and coloring of 'Fuyu' persimmon ($Diospyros$ $kaki$). At 7 weeks after ethephon treatment, fruit weight and diameter became significantly heavier and longer in 80 and $100mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ than the other concentrations of ethephon. Fruit peel hardness decreased with increasing ethephon concentration. The decreased levels were apparent with the treatments beyond $40mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ at the beginning, and then with those beyond $60mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$. Hunter $a^*$ and $Chroma^*$ of fruit peel treated with ethephon over $20mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ were significantly higher compared to those with control ($0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$), but there were no significant differences among those with the ethephon treatments over $20mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$. The increased levels of the $Chroma^*$ were apparent with the treatments beyond $60mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ at the beginning and then with those of 20 and $40mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$. ${\beta}$-Carotene and lycopene contents of fruit peel were higher with the ethephon treatment beyond $40mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$. Although the ethephon application at 20 and $40mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ had no effects on fruit enlargement, but fruit coloring was advanced by 2 weeks with the application at $40mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$.

Changes of Fruit Quality and Anthocyanin Composition of 'Kyoho' and 'Heukboseok' Grape Berry Skins under High Temperature at Veraison (변색기 고온에 의한 '거봉' 및 '흑보석' 포도의 과피 안토시아닌 조성 변화)

  • We analyzed the skin coloration and anthocyanin composition of 'Kyoho' and 'Heukboseok' grape berries to determine the cause of poor coloring in 'Kyoho' berry skins under high temperature (HT) at veraison. Although the skin coloration inhibited in both 'Kyoho' and 'Heukboseok' berries under HT for 30 days from veraison, the total anthocyanin content in 'Heukboseok' berry skins increased to the level of control after the end of temperature treatment, but 'Kyoho' did not increase. Malvidin derivatives were most significantly reduced in 'Kyoho' berry skins, followed by those of delphinidin and petunidin. Among individual anthocyanins, diglucosides and acylated malvidin derivatives were most decreased in 'Kyoho' berry skins. Acylated and tri-hydroxylated anthocyanins were reduced more than those of non-acylated and dihydroxylated, respectively. All different types of anthocyanin components in 'Kyoho' berry skins decreased by HT, and they were similar to that of total anthocyanin. In 'Heukboseok' berry skins, accumulations of all different types of anthocyanins were inhibited by HT, and increased to the level of control after the end of the treatment. These results suggest that the poor coloration of 'Kyoho' under HT at veraison was not caused by the decrease of specific anthocyanins but because the whole anthocyanin biosynthesis was suppressed by HT.

Effects of Dietary Xanthophylls and See Weed By-Products on Growth Performance, Color and Antioxidant Properties in Broiler Chicks (Xanthophylls과 해조 부산물 첨가 급여가 육계의 사양성적, 육색 및 항산화 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary pigment sources on the performance, color and antioxidant properties in broiler chick. Experimental diet was formulated to have isocalories and isonitrogen during the experiment period. Total xanthophylls content in the experimental diet was formulated to have 30ppm. Experimental trials were done for five weeks with six treatment groups; T1 (Control), T2 (Olo Glo, natural yellow pigment), T3 (Kern Glo, natural red pigment), T4 (canthaxanthin, synthetic red pigment), T5 (asthaxanthine, natural red pigment), and T6 (seaweed by-products). Body weight gain and feed intake were significantly lower (p<0.05) in T6 group than in other treatments. Mortality was lower in T2, T3 and T4 than in control, but higher (p<0.05) in T5 and T6. The sources of pigments did not have any effects on the dressed carcass and abdominal fat pad (p>0.05). The gizzard weight was significantly lower in T6 (p<0.05) than in others. Pigmentation of leg skin was significantly lower (p<0.05) in control and T6. Effects of dietary pigments was greater with red pigments than with yellow pigments, and those were also greater with natural pigments than with synthetic ones. The peroxide value (POV), thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) and pH values of chicken meat were increased (p<0.05) in all treatments at 12 day storage, and was higher (p<0.05) in pigments supplementation group. No differences of CIE L$\^$*/(lightness) and b$\^$*/(yellowness) were not found by storage days and xanthophylls sources. The a$\^$*/(redness) after 12 day storage was significantly (p<0.05) decreased in all treatments, but those of T4 and T5 were higher than those of others. These results showed that feeding of xanthophylls sources to chick could improve color intensity and inhibit lipid oxidation of leg meat.

닭고기 비품(외상계)에 대한 대책

  • 도계장에서는 항상 비품이 발생한다. 골절, 피부병변, 착색이상 등 여러 가지 상태의 계육이 비품으로 분류되어 큰피해를 입고 있다. 가까운 예로 미국의 경우 이에 대한 피해액이 연간 5천만 달러로 추산되고 있다. 국내에서는 이러한 문제 때문에 육계 담당 부서에서는 항상 비품에 대해서 스트레스를 받고 있다. 하지만 이러한 문제들이 정말 스트레스가 되는 원인은 사육 중에 발견되기보다는 도계 후에 발견되며, 이에 따라상품가치가 현저히 감소하고 추가적인 작업이 요구되기 때문일 것이다. 대부분의 회사들이 이 문제를 접하게 되면, 주로 곰팡이 독소 흡착제를 사용하는 것이 유일한 대책인 것으로 생각한다. 이런 경우엔 약품에 대한 효과는 잘 모르겠지만, 필자의 느낌으로는 일정한 시간이 흘러 자연스럽게(?) 해결되는 과정을 걷는 듯 하며, 관련 부서에서는 이 약제의 효과에 대해 판단하기보다는 일단 직면한 문제가 해결되었 다고 결과론적으로 만족하는 듯 하다. 필자는 이 지면을 통해 그 동안의 관점과는 다른 측면에서 이런 문제의 원인과 그 대책에 대해 간략히 논하고자한다. 도계장에서는 항상 여러 가지 비품들이 발생한다. 이 모든 것들을 논하기에는 너무 범위가 넓기 때문에 여기서는 독자들의 이해를 위해 비품들 중에서 등 부위의 상처와 복부의 상처(배꼽 닭)에 대해 국한하도록 하겠다. 아마도 이 부분외의 다른 비품들은 대부분 그 원인을 쉽게 추정할 수 있기 때문이다. 먼저, 독자들에게 질문하고 싶은 것이 있다. 이러한 비품들의 직접적인 원인은 무엇인가? 앞서 얘기한 것과 같이 각 회사들의 대책으로 이용되는 곰팡이 독소 흡착제를 보면, 곰팡이 독소가 가장 직접적인 원인으로 생각할 수도 있다. 하지만 결론적으로 직접적인 원인은 외상이다. 즉, 외부의 물리적인 작용에 의한 상처인 것이다. 이런 측면에서 볼 때 가장 직접적인 원인은 외상이며, 이 외에 깃털발육 이상(혹은 저하), 바닥상태 불량 등과 같은 사양관리 이상과 면역 억제성 질환 및 지혈능력의 저하 등이 직접적인 원인으로 인한 문제들을 더욱 악화시키는 간접적인 원인으로 작용한다.

  • An experiment was conducted to test different heights of drainage level sensors in an irrigation management system for perlite bag culture of cucumber and paprika. The sensors were placed at 4, 8, 12, and 16 mm from the bottom of the container. Both cucumber and paprika did not show any significant difference in growth and yield among the treatments. However, placing the sensor at 4 mm seemed to be the best in order to prevent over-supply of water at the beginning of the day.

  • In order to identify hormone activities which related to the changing of cutaneous tissue and pupal bodies and also to identify the interaction of corpora allata hormone and prothoracic glandular band hormone which act upon the metamorphosis of the insect. The item of treatment is carried out in 5 different times at the interval of about 12 hours after 4 weeks from the first feeding of 4th instar stage, and as far as 5th instar stage in concerned 6 times of item treatments have been carried out, at about 12 hours interval after 72 hours from the molting, Item treatments were, made in the stage of spring, autumn rearing, However, during the period of post mounting stage and pre pupation by picking out of corpora allata in 5 times at the interval of hours the following change of pupal colour is observed; 1) By an early pick out of 4th instar stage, the three molters are found in greater number, However, by a later pick out the four molters are found instead of others. 2) An abnormal colour is found in the three and four molters when comparing with the control molters. 3) The most of control molters have shown the normal colour except a few samples. 4) As shown in the table 1 and 2, the death number of item treatment is greater in the autumn rearing season. 5) The picking out of corpora allata of 5th instar stage, the post mounting stage and pre pupation period is affecting the change of colour. 6) As a final conclusion, the corpora allata hormone is closely related to the changing of pupal colour.

Index of Optimum Harvest Time as Seasonal Hesperidin Content Changes for Citrus lemon Juice in Plastic Film House (레몬 하우스 재배에 있어 시기별 과즙의 Hesperidin 함량변화에 따른 적정수확 기준)

  • This study was evaluated that seasonal change of the hesperidin content was in relation to the skin color and weight of fruit in outer or inner side of the canopy, for determine the optimum time and the index of most abundant hesperidin content in lemon fruits juice. The hesperidin content was different with fruit growth and on fruit bearing site of the tree. The fruits of the either side contained the highest hesperidin value at 162 and 176 days after anthesis just after de-greening and the value was highest in the fruits of outer side of the canopy. This time also corresponded to the time just before the cessation of fruit growth. These results suggested that the optimum harvesting period for more hesperidin content was the stage just after de-greening and just before fruit growth cessation.

  • The effect of supplemental yellow ${\beta}$-8-Apo-carotenoic acid ethyl ester (ACA) (0~300mg/kg feed) on its accumulation in each body part of laying hens and the pigmentation in egg yolk was determined. The chickens used in this study were 78-wk-old ISA brown laying hens. ACA significantly affected the color of the bodies of laying hens. The yellowness ($b^*$) but not the redness ($a^*$) and, the lightness ($L^*$) of the skin, and muscle as measured by a colorimeter significantly (P < 0.05) increased when ACA was fed at 50~100 mg/kg feed. Egg yolk color was also significantly affected by feeding ACA longer than 2 days (P < 0.05) at the levels higher than 50 mg/kg feed. Conclusively, ACA is recommended for improving yellowness of skin.
