Recently, the importance of the efficient production pipeline design has been increased for 3D animation, which becomes more delicate. In this paper, we propose 3D animation character development pipeline using 3D printing technology. We introduce 3D printing procedure into each step of the classical 3D animation and character development pipeline to incorporate the feed-back from the designer immediately. Specially, during the production step, we can find the design errors and minimize the period of production by using 3D printing of approximate shape of designed character. Using proposed method, eight DreaMegg characters were developed and their quality was very high with respect to 3D virtual graphics and real product. Using our method, high-quality 3D animation character can be developed with the minimized time and cost for development by reflecting the feed-back into production line from designers and researchers immediately.
CAD system is a very important technology in designing many products which we are using today. This CAD technology have enlarging its area into 3D CAD systems with the development of computer graphics technologies. In particular, such advances have also been realized in special area such as the CAD system for designing shoes. 3D CAD systems for shoes design must provide compatibility between 3D and 2D data because shoes are made using 2D parts of pieces of leather or cloth. Many designers get high performances using 2D shoe CAD systems because they have had long practices with the 2D systems. Therefore, to get the mapping between 2D modeling and 3D modeling is one of very important components in 3D CAD system. In this paper, we proposed a flattening method that convert 3D shoes data to 2D data.

In this paper, we analyze geometrical relations of 3D shape reconstruction from 2D images taken under anne projection. The purpose of this research is to contribute to more accurate 3-D reconstruction under noise distribution by analyzing geometrically the 2D to 3D relationship. In situation for no missing feature points (FPs) or no noise in 2D image plane, the accurate solution of 3D shape reconstruction is blown to be provided by Singular Yalue Decomposition (SVD) factorization. However, if several FPs not been observed because of object occlusion and image low resolution, and so on, there is no simple solution. Moreover, the 3D shape reconstructed from noise-distributed FPs is peturbed because of the influence of the noise. This paper focuses on analysis of geometrical properties which can interpret the missing FPs even though the noise is distributed on other FPs.
In this paper, a 3-dimensional stiffened plate model for soil-metal box structures is proposed. 3-dimensional stiffened plate model is enable to model corrugated steel plates of soil metal box culverts considering section modulus and section properties of longitudinal and horizontal direction from a corrugated steel plate. Loading conditions which causes maximum displacement and maximum moment according to the step construction stages(a back filling to the top of the plate, a back filling to the maximum depth of cover, and loading of live loads) was applied and the behaviors of the soil metal box culverts was analyzed. Analysis results of 3-dimensional stiffened model were compared with those of 2-dimensional model, 3-dimensional equivalent plate model and 3-dimensional corrugated plate model. As results, the behaviors of 2-dimensional model and 3 dimensional equivalent model are different from 3-dimensional corrugated plate model but the result of 3-dimensional stiffened model has good agreement with that of 3-dimensional corrugated plate model.
Purpose: To simulate and measure the signal intensity of various tissues near bone interface in 2D and 3D neurological MR images. Materials and Methods: In neurological proton density (PD) weighted images, every component in the head including cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), muscle and scalp, with the exception of bone, are visualised. It is possible to acquire images in 2D or 3D. A 2D fast spin-echo (FSE) sequence is chosen for the 2D acquisition and a 3D gradient-echo (GE) sequence is chosen for the 3D acquisition. To find out the signal intensities of CSF, muscle and fat (or scalp) for the 2D spin-echo(SE) and 3D gradient-echo (GE) imaging sequences, the theoretical signal intensities for 2D SE and 3D GE were calculated. For the 2D fast spin-echo (FSE) sequence, to produce the PD weighted image, long TR (4000 ms) and short TE$_{eff}$ (22 ms) were employed. For the 3D GE sequence, low flip angle (8$^{\circ}$) with short TR (35 ms) and short TE (3 ms) was used to produce the PD weighted contrast. Results: The 2D FSE sequence has CSF, muscle and scalp with superior image contrast and SNR of 39 - 57 while the 3D GE sequence has CSF, muscle and scalp with broadly similar image contrast and SNR of 26 - 33. SNR in the FSE image were better than those in the GE image and the skull edges appeared very clearly in the FSE image due to the edge enhancement effect in the FSE sequence. Furthermore, the contrast between CSF, muscle and scalp in the 2D FSE image was significantly better than in the 3D GE image, due to the strong signal intensities (or SNR) from CSF, muscle and scalp and enhanced edges of CSF. Conclusion: The signal intensity of various tissues near bone interface in neurological MR images has been simulated and measured. Both the simulation and imaging of the 2D SE and 3D GE sequences have CSF, fat and muscle with broadly similar image intensity and SNR's and have succeeded in getting all tissues about the same signal. However, in the 2D FSE sequence, image contrast between CSF, muscle and scalp was good and SNR was relatively high, imaging time was relatively short.
This paper presents the results of 2D and 3D finite element simulations conducted to analyze the effects of excavation depth (H), excavation width (L), and ground condition on the behavior of anchored earth retaining wall in inclined ground layers. The results of numerical analyses are compared with those of the site instrumentation analyses. Based on the results obtained, it appeared that 2D numerical analysis tends to overestimate the horizontal displacement of retaining wall compared to the 3D numerical analysis. When the excavation depth is deeper than 20m, it is found that 2D and 3D numerical analysis results of excavation work in soil ground condition are more different from the results in rock ground condition. For an accurate 3D numerical analysis, applying 3D mesh which has an excavation width twice longer than excavation depth is recommended. Consequently, 3D numerical analysis may be able to offer significantly better predictions of movement than 2D analysis.

Despite of many researches related to create 3D digital maps, it is still time-consuming and costly because a large part of 3D digital mapping is conducted manually. To circumvent this limitation, we proposed methodologies to create 3D digital maps with 3D symbols automatically. For this purpose, firstly, the 3D symbol library to represent 3D objects as 3D symbols was constructed. In this library, we stored the attribute and geometry information of 3D objects which define types and shapes of symbols respectively. These information were used to match 3D objects with 3D symbols and extracted from 2D digital maps and LiDAR(Light Detection and Ranging) data. Then, to locate 3D symbols into a base map automatically, we used predefined parameters such as the size, the height, the rotation angle and the center of gravity of 3D objects which are extracted from LiDAR data. Finally, the 3D digital map in urban area was constructed and the results were tested. Through this research, we can identify that the developed algorithms can be used as effective techniques for 3D digital mapping.

The 3D spatial information projects have been processed and utilized in varied fields. However, the research of the 3D digital map for a role of national base map is not enough. The draft maps, which are raw data for generating 2D digital map, shows problems in generating 3D digital map. The objective of this research is to develop 3D digital map editing system for modifying and editing of 3D digital map from 2D vector and raster information such as a draft map, 2D digital map, DEM, aerial photo and so forth. This 3D digital map editing system was designed to include data structure of geometric and attribute object under provision of ISO/TC211 and OGC standard. This system was developed to implement the function of 3D stereo editing based on stereo viewing, 3D view editing based on projective, and 3D spatial operation. Using this system, 3D digital maps were able to be successfully produced from not only existing draft maps but also modified or edited draft maps and then application results were compared and analyzed.
In a virtual environment, a 3D workspace and 3D interaction are possible, but most virtual reality applications use a 2D color picker. This paper implements a 3D color picker based on 3D color space in a virtual environment, and compares color selection performance with the existing 2D color picker. The 3D color picker is intuitive by using the 3D color space as it is, and it can position the 3D pointer at a specific point in the color space using a controller, which is a virtual reality device, so a user can select a color in one step. On the other hand, the 2D color picker has the advantage of being familiar with existing users who work with colors in a computer environment, but has a disadvantage that requires several steps of user interaction since it has to set color properties through 2D interfaces. Based on user experiments, we confirmed the usefulness of a 3D color picker in addition to a 2D color picker in a virtual environment, and it was possible to perform natural 3D work in a virtual environment using the 3D color picker.

3D point cloud semantic segmentation is a computer vision task that involves dividing the point cloud into different objects and regions by predicting the class label of each point. Existing 3D semantic segmentation models have some limitations in performing sufficient fusion of multi-modal features while ensuring both characteristics of 2D visual features extracted from RGB images and 3D geometric features extracted from point cloud. Therefore, in this paper, we propose MMCA-Net, a novel 3D semantic segmentation model using 2D-3D multi-modal features. The proposed model effectively fuses two heterogeneous 2D visual features and 3D geometric features by using an intermediate fusion strategy and a multi-modal cross attention-based fusion operation. Also, the proposed model extracts context-rich 3D geometric features from input point cloud consisting of irregularly distributed points by adopting PTv2 as 3D geometric encoder. In this paper, we conducted both quantitative and qualitative experiments with the benchmark dataset, ScanNetv2 in order to analyze the performance of the proposed model. In terms of the metric mIoU, the proposed model showed a 9.2% performance improvement over the PTv2 model using only 3D geometric features, and a 12.12% performance improvement over the MVPNet model using 2D-3D multi-modal features. As a result, we proved the effectiveness and usefulness of the proposed model.
