Identification of System Frequency Variations in Vehicle-Bridge Interaction Systems (교량-차량 동적상호작용을 고려한 시간가변적 시스템 특성 분석)

  • Natural frequency variations in a vehicle-bridge interaction system is examined. The interaction system is designed for a simple beam subject to a moving vehicle. The equation of motion for the system is derived under the quarter-car condition, and numerical simulation is performed. Frequency amplification ratio (FAR) is defined as a ratio between the initial and the varying natural frequency of the system; a discontinuity in the FAR implies a resonance condition. Analysis is mainly focused on patterns, frequency variation characteristics, and discontinuity points of the FAR under the vehicle mass and tire stiffness variations. The result reveals that the interactions between the system affects the natural frequency of both the vehicle and the bridge in similar frequency regions that can be visually identified at the middle of the span using the FAR.

  • This study if the first trial toward realizing a new methodology for vehicle re-identification based on heterogeneous sensor systems. A major interest of the author is how to effectively utilize information obtained from different sensors to derive accurate and reliable section travel times. The 'blade' sensor that is a newly developed sensor for capturing vehicle wheel information and the existing square loop sensor are employed to extract the inputs of the proposed vehicle re-identification algorithm. The fundamental idea of the algorithm developed in this study, which is so called 'anonumous vehicle re-identification,' it to match vehicle features obtained from both sensors. The results of the algorithm evaluation reveal that the proposed methodology could be successfully implemented in the field. The proposed methodology would be an invaluable tool for operating agencies in support of traffic monitoring systems and traveler information systems.

FRF Analysis of a Vehicle Passing the Bump Barrier (둔턱 진행 차량의 주파수응답 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the frequency characteristics of forced vibration considering the vehicle progress. And the vibration characteristics in frequency domain that occur, when vehicle passes the bump, were analyzed. The responses such as displacement, velocity and acceleration were obtained through numerical analysis, and FFT processing was performed to analyze the frequency response function(FRF) characteristics. In particular, the location of vehicle eigenmodes and external excitation modes was clearly shown and analyzed. In the forced vibration model by external force, the behavior of the eigenmode in power spectrum and real and imaginary parts were also analyzed. The mode characteristics were also analyzed in each FRF. It was approximated by assuming total excitation force by considering the exciting frequency using impulse and sine wave forces, which can give the amplitude and frequencies. The response characteristics of forced oscillations having different mass, damping and stiffness have been systematically discussed.

  • The response characteristics of the forced vibration generated when the high-damped vehicle pass the bumped barrier was studied, and in particular, the response behavior of displacement, velocity and acceleration was analyzed for the forced vibration model. In addition, in order to obtain responses such as displacement, velocity, and acceleration, a numerical analysis technique of the Runge-Kutta-Gill method was performed in time domain. The response was successfully obtained in detail under several high damping conditions. As a numerical analysis result, the response of the vehicle was obtained by considering the vehicle body to which the impulse impact was applied. Also, the analysis result was compared with the experimental result in order to verify the validity of vehicle model. The amplitude and natural frequency of the vehicle were considered and analyzed. The Nyquist diagram of the vehicle model was also obtained and the relationship could be analyzed. And the vibration response was analyzed on different mass, damping and stiffness.

  • The Korea's automotive industry have been achieved remarkable growth with many original models for over 28 years since the first original model Pony had developed. And most of the early models were licensed from the other country's makers. Now it is independent with our own technologies and designs, and the automobile is one of the major exporting products of Korea. In the early times the basic design concept of a passenger car didn't reflect the characteristics of the way of domestic life, but today's Korean developed cars have speciffic characters those are distinguished to others not only in the overall body shape but also in the package layout. And it is considered that the Korean cars would have different characteristics to the others in the future. These changes would come from the ways of life of the nations characteristics and they would influence to technologies of development. And the influence would be resulted as another type of sedan which has much differences to the current sedans. The main elements and the reasons for the 'post sedan' have been observed to specify the characters of the future Korean sedan in this research.

Analysis of the Vibration Characteristics of a High-Speed Train using a Scale Model (축소모델을 통한 고속철도 차량의 진동특성 해석 및 검증)

  • A scaled version of a roller rig is developed to demonstrate the dynamic characteristics of a railway vehicle for academic purposes. This rig is designed based on Jaschinski's similarity law. It is scaled to 1/10 of actual size and allows 9-DOF motion to examine the up and down vibration of a train set. The test rig consists of three sub-hardware components: (i) a driving roller mechanism with a three-phase AC motor and an inverter, (ii) a bogie structure with first and second suspensions, and (iii) the vehicle body. The motor of the rig is capable of 3,600rpm, allowing the test to simulate a vehicle up to a maximum speed of 400Km/hr. Because bearings and joints are properly connected to the sub-structures, various motion analyses, such as a lateral, pitching, and yawing motion, are allowed. The slip motion between the rail and the wheel set is also monitored by several sensors mounted in the rig. After the construction of the hardware, an experiment is conducted to obtain the natural frequencies of the dynamic behavior of the specimen. First, the test rig is run and data are collected from six sets of accelerometers. Then, a numerical analysis of the model based on the ADAMS program is derived. Finally, the measurement data of the first three fundamental frequencies are compared to the analytical result and the validation of the test rig is conducted. The results show that the developed roller rig provides good accuracy in simulating the dynamic behavior of the vehicle motion. Although the roller rig designed in this paper is intended for academia, it can easily be implemented as part of a dynamic experiment of a bogie and a vehicle body for a high-speed train as part of the research efforts in this area.

  • 차량 축계의 비틀림진동은 엔진 공회전시와 정속주행시(완만한 가감속) 및 가속페달 급조작에 따른 급격한 가감속에 대해 각각 고유한 동특성을 나타내면서 차체의 진동과 소음을 유발시킨다. 공회전시의 진동해석 및 가속페달 급조작에 따른 차량 전후 진동에 대해서는 지금까지 많은 연구가 진행되어 상당한 발전을 이룩한 반면 완만한 가감속시 차량의 전속도 구간에서의 진동해석에 대해서는 해석상의 어려움으로 인해 주로 실험에 의한 접근 방법에 의존하고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 수동변속기가 장착된 전륜구동 승용차를 대상으로 차량 전속도 구간에서 축계의 비틀림진동 해석을 할 수 있는 방법을 개발하였으며, 개발된 방법을 트랜스미션 축진동 저감을 위한 클러치 비선형특성 튜닝에 적용하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 강제진동해석방법은 수동변속기가 장착된 모든 종류의 차량에 적용할 수 있을 것으로 기대되며 자동변속기의 댐퍼클러치 설계에도 응용될 수 있을 것이다.

Vehicle Mark and License Plate Recognition Using Hybrid Pattern Vector (하이브리드 패턴벡터를 이용한 자동차 마크 인식 및 번호판 인식 알고리즘)

  • 본 논문에서는 하이브리드 패턴벡터를 이용하여 자동차의 고유 마크와 차량 번호를 실시간으로 인식하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안한 알고리즘에서는 차량 입력 영상에서 차량의 마크와 번호판의 수평 및 수직 명암값 빈도수 변화를 이용해 마크와 번호판 영역을 추출한다. 또한, 추출된 알고리즘으로부터 수평 수직 패턴을 적용해 자동차의 마크를 인식하고 하이브리드 패턴벡터를 이용하여 번호판의 문자 및 숫자를 인식하도록 하였다. 제안한 자동차 마크 및 번호판 추출 과정에서는 마크와 번호판 영역의 문자와 배경이 뚜렷하게 구별되는 상대적인 크기의 특성과 수평 및 수직 빈도수와 패턴 벡터를 사용하여 마크 및 번호판 영역을 추출, 인식하도록하였다. 제안한 방법들을 적용한 결과, 차량 번호판의 크기에 관계없이 잡음에 영향을 받지 않고 차량의 종류와 번호를 실시간으로 처리할 수 있으며 차량번호판 추출 및 인식뿐 아니라 차량의 마크 추출 가능성을 제시하였다.
