  • 본 논문에서는 효율적으로 주차 공간을 확보와 주차장 성능을 향상을 위한 방법을 조사하였다. 이러한 방법으로는 차량 번호판 조사를 이용하여 주차 회전율을 구하는 방법이 있었다. 본 연구로 효율적으로 주차장을 사용하고 있는지를 판단할 수 있다. 또한 차량의 주차를 하여 잘 소통되는지를 알 수 있었다.

  • 본 논문은 영상 획득 환경이 자유로운 상황에서 차량 번호판 영역을 검출하기 위한 새로운 방법을 제안한다. 입력 영상에서 SIFT 지역특징을 추출하고 미리 학습한 분류기를 통해 각 지역특징이 번호판 내부에 속하는지 번호판 외부에 속하는지를 분류한다. 번호판 내부로 분류된 지역특징이 밀집한 영역이 번호판 영역으로 검출된다. 실험을 통해 제안하는 지역특징 분류 방법이 높은 성능으로 번호판 내/외부를 분류함을 보인다.

  • License plate recognition camera is dedicated device designed for acquiring images of the target vehicle for recognizing letters and numbers in a license plate. Mostly, it is used as a part of the system combined with server and image analysis module rather than as a single use. However, building a system for vehicle license plate recognition is costly because it is required to construct a facility with a server providing the management and analysis of the captured images and an image analysis module providing the extraction of numbers and characters and recognition of the vehicle's plate. In this study, we would like to develop an embedded type convergent camera (Edge Base) which can expand the function of the camera to not only the license plate recognition but also the security CCTV function together and to perform two functions within the camera. This embedded type convergence camera equipped with a high resolution 4K IP camera for clear image acquisition and fast data transmission extracted license plate area by applying YOLO, a deep learning software for multi object recognition based on open source neural network algorithm and detected number and characters of the plate and verified the detection accuracy and recognition accuracy and confirmed that this camera can perform CCTV security function and vehicle number plate recognition function successfully.

A Study of Car Plate Recognition System on The Park (주차장 자동차번호 인식 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a rotation invariant fingerprint identification system is implemented using the circular harmonic filter and phase only correlator. We extracted the phase component from input fingerprint image and correlate it with the circular harmonic filter of the reference fingerprint image by POC. The input image is obtained using a prism operating in the internal full reflection mode. Then the input image is transformed to two dimensional Fourier spectrum in optical way and the phase component is extracted using a digital system from the spectrum. Because composed of the optical system and digital algorithm, the proposed system has the advantages of the two technologies such as realtime parallel processing property of the optics and the flexibility of the digital system.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient car management system based on object-oriented modeling using car number recognition and smart phone. The proposed system perceives car number of repair vehicle after recognizing the licence plate using an IP camera in real time. And then, existing repair history information of the recognized car is be displayed in DID. In addition, maintenance process is shooting video while auto maintenance mechanic repairs car through IP-camera. That will be provide customer car identification and repairs history management function by sending key frames extracted from recorded video automatically. We provide user graphic interface based on web and mobile for your convenience. The module design of the proposed system apply software design modeling based on granular object-oriented considering reuse and extensibility after implementation. Car repairs center and maintenance companies can improve business efficiency, as well as the requested vehicle repair can increase customer confidence.

Car License Plate Extraction Based on Detection of Numeral Regions (숫자 영역 탐색에 기반한 자동차 번호판 추출)

  • In this paper we propose an algorithm to extract the license plate regions from Korean car images. The idea of this paper is that we first find the four digits in the input car image and then segment the plate region using the digit information. Out method has advantage of segmenting simultaneously the plate regions and four digits regions. The first step finds and groups the connected components with proper sizes as candidate digits. The second step applies an serial alignment condition to find out probable 4-digits. In the third step, we recognize the candidate digits and assign the confidence values to each of them. The final step extracts the license plate region which has the highest confidence value. We used the Perfect Metrics classification algorithm to estimate the confidence. In our experiment, we got 97.23% and 95.45% correct detection rates, 0.09% and 0.11% false detection rates for 4,600 daytime and 264 nighttime images, respectively.

Recognition of Numeric Characters in License Plates using Eigennumber (고유 숫자를 이용한 번호판 숫자 인식)

  • In order to recognize a vehicle license plate, the region of the license plate should be extracted from a vehicle image. Then, character region should be separated from the background image and characters are recognized using some neural networks with selected feature vectors. Of course, choice of feature vectors which serve as the basis of the character recognition has an important effect on recognition result as well as reduction of data amount. In this paper, we propose a novel feature extraction method in which number images are decomposed into linear combination of eigennumbers and show the validity of this method by applying to the recognition of numeric characters in license plates. The experimental results show the recognition rate of 95.3% for about 500 vehicle images with multi-layer perceptron neural network in the eigennumber space. Compared with the conventional mesh feature, it shows a better recognition rate by 5%.

Vehicle Tracking System using HSV Color Space at nighttime (HSV 색 공간을 이용한 야간 차량 검출시스템)

  • We suggest that HSV Color Space may be used to detect a vehicle detecting system at nighttime. It is essential that a licence plate should be extracted when a vehicle is under surveillance. To do so, a licence plate may be enlarged to certain size after the aimed vehicle is taken picture from a distance by using Pan-Tilt-Zoom Camera. Either Mean-Shift or Optical Flow Algorithm is generally used for the purpose of a vehicle detection and trace, even though those algorithms have tendency to have difficulty in detection and trace a vehicle at night. By utilizing the fact that a headlight or taillight of a vehicle stands out when an input image is converted in to HSV Color Space, we are able to achieve improvement on those algorithms for the vehicle detection and trace. In this paper, we have shown that at night, the suggested method is efficient enough to detect a vehicle 93.9% from the front and 97.7% from the back.

Recognition of Car License Plate Using Geometric Information from Portable Device Image (휴대단말기 영상에서의 기하학적 정보를 이용한 차량 번호판 인식)

  • Recently, the character image processing technology using portable device camera image at home and abroad are actively conducted, but Practical use are lower rate because of accuracy and time-consuming process problems. In this paper, we propose the license plate recognition method based on geometric information from portable device camera image. In the extracted license plate region we recognize characters using the chain code and the Thickness information through the cumulative projected edge after performing the pre-processing work considering the angle difference, the contrast enhancement and the low resolution from portable device camera image. The proposed algorithm is effective and accurate recognition by light and reducing the processing time. And, the results from the character recognition success rate was 95%. In the future, we will research about license plate recognition algorithm using long distance image or added motion blur image.

A Key-Frame Extraction Method based on HSV Color Model for Smart Vehicle Management System (스마트 차량 관리 시스템을 위한 HSV 색상모델 기반의 키 프레임 추출 기법)

  • Currently, registered number of imported vehicles is increasing rapidly over the years. Accordingly, environment improvements of vehicle maintenance company for maintenance of luxury vehicle such as imported vehicle are continuously being made. In this paper, we propose a key frame extraction method based on HSV color model for smart vehicle management system implementation to offer for customer reliability of maintenance vehicle. After automatically recognize the license plates of the vehicle using vehicle license plate recognition system when the vehicle come in the car center, we check the repair history and request of the vehicle based on it. We implement mobile services which provide extracted key frame images to the user after extract key frames from vehicle repair video. In addition, we verify the superiority of key frame extraction method by applying a smart vehicle management system. Finally, we convert the RGB color to HSV color to improve the performance of proposed key frame extraction scheme. As a result, we confirmed that our scheme is more excellence about 30% in terms of recall than RGB color model from the performance evaluations.
