  • Unitex is widely used for the floor structure of urban railway vehicles because it shows good structural safety and heat insulation, has long life, and lowers the cost owing to easy installation. However, in spite of these merits, Unitex has a limit to the sound insulation performance, which is very important in vehicle structure. It shows a sound transmission loss considerably lower than the mass law value, which indicates the sound insulation performance per unit weight. Recently, railway vehicle manufacturers and Unitex supplier have tried to improve the sound insulation performance of Unitex, but meaningful results have not been achieved yet. Through the industry-university collaborative research, we propose structural improvement methods to increase the sound transmission loss by more than 5dB and we then verify the effect by performing experiments.

  • This study is the result of performing structural analysis in accordance with the new ambulance design of inside space using the new vehicle's bodywork. 3D design works were performed based on international standards and designed ambulance. And then it was tested by a shock of 10G to the ambulance car inside with respect to the vehicle body after that we looked into the consequences. At this time, it was carried out in consideration of its own weight and the weight of components according to the EN regulation. From the result of structural analysis, the internal frame and configured handrail in a variety of pipe did not have a relatively large stress load, but internal panel and cabinets has been interpreted to receive a large stress load at least over 50 MPa. When carried out reinforcement design in accordance with this analysis, the modification of thickness and shape could be necessary. On the basis of these findings, it is also expected that there could be a useful information to produce a more secure vehicle for paramedics and patients using a ambulance inside the vehicle.

  • The study presents the linear dynamic analysis of multi-girder steel bridges under vehicular movement to examine the performance characteristics due to the various structural and loading conditions. The road surface roughness and bridge-vehicle interactions are considered. The road surface profiles for the approaching roadway and bridge decks are generated from power spectral density functions for different road roughness conditions. A new filtering method using the wheel trace is proposed to obtain the more rational bridge-vehicle interactions from the randomly generated road surface. The possible settlement condition between the bridge deck and approaching roadway is also included. The dynamic responses of various bridges designed according to current design practice are examined, in which important structural parameters(such as span length, girder spacing, etc.) are considered systematically. In addition to the basic loading conditions due to a single truck passing on the bridge, the traffic conditions of multi-truck traveling either consecutively on the same lane or side-by-side on the adjacent lanes are also evaluated.

  • This paper describes a design of the WAVE antenna system in V2X wireless communication systems for Intelligent Transport Systems. The WAVE standard protocols defined 5.825~5.9GHz frequency range for wireless communications with V2X. In a recent, A study of WAVE communication system it has been studied mainly the base station and the OBU technology in order to improve the communication performance of the communication distance. In this paper, the proposed vehicular WAVE antenna using the EBG structure is to improve performance. The proposed WAVE antenna with EBG shows improvement of return loss and radiation beam pattern. The performance of WAVE communication systems for intelligent transport systems is dependent on the performance of antenna. The proposed vehicular antenna for WAVE communication systems shows improvement of return loss for performance.

  • Recently, the number of people enjoying various leisure sports has increased. As a result, the vehicles with various items loaded onto the roof can be easily seen on the street. The device that enables loading on the vehicle roof is called by a rack, and each vehicle has its own different shape. There are various types of roof racks but they must have the strength and durability to load heavy loads. In this study, the structural analysis was performed according to the support method of the roof rack and the shape of the fixture. Of three models, it was shown that model C had the best durability. Therefore, this study result shows which shape of the roof rack is most stable among the models. By utilizing the design data about a convergence study through the structural analysis due to the shape of automotive roof rack obtained on the basis of this result, the esthetic feeling can be shown by being converged onto the part of automobile at actual life.

  • In accidents involving the collision of railway vehicles, there is a risk that structural members might penetrate the cab frame of the railway vehicle in the space in which the driver or passengers are seated. To reduce this risk, worldwide, studies on the collision of railway vehicles are underway. In North America, the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) was revised in 2010 to include crush criteria for a collision and the corner post in an end frame. In this study, a crush analysis and crush test for a collision post and a crash analysis for a rigid cylinder were performed according to the CFR. The analysis and test results were compared and reviewed. This study aims to determine the usefulness of crush analysis for developing various end frames, and to understand the crush and crash characteristics and review the accuracy of the analysis.

  • To optimize the design of fuel cylinder for LNG vehicles, we introduced the design parameters of the inner and the outer tank of the vessel support structure by analyzing the structural characteristics of conventional design. We selected the inner and outer diameter of the hollow support bars and a dimension of the inner structure of the vessel among the design parameters for design optimization. In this study the temperature distribution and thermal stress of the support structure were evaluated by using the utility program as MSC/MARC. The evaluation criteria are first mode natural frequency, total transferred energy through support structure and thermal stress. The developed design satisfied the design criteria and it was made of prototype. The prototype was verified through three-dimensional vibration testing and thermal performance test.

  • The increased intelligence and speed of vehicle infotainment, whose main purpose was emergency and external communication, is showing the potential for application to various services such as navigation and autonomous driving. In particular, functionality for linking external devices and infrastructure is being strengthened due to advances in communication and networks. Under this trend, it is necessary to consider the direction of linkage with the cooperative intelligent transportation system (C-ITS) for advanced vehicle services and driving. In addition, in the case of automobiles, future vehicle development concepts are being established based on the concept of software-defined vehicles (SDVs) in line with the trend of electrification beyond telematics and infotainment advancements, and such SDV linkage must be considered at the same time. In this paper, we consider the future direction of ITS and SDV linkage based on analysis of vehicle infotainment structure. First, for this purpose, we analyze the existing vehicle infotainment structure and architecture, and also present the structure of the SDV linked to it. Based on this, analysis and implications are drawn on the possibility of applying and linking standard-based C-ITS services with SDV devices.
