A Study on the Characteristics of High Energy Nitrogen ion Implanted CdS Thin Films (고에너지 질소 이온 주입된 CdS 박막 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The effects of nitrogen ion implantation on vacuum evaporated cadmium sulphide (CdS) thin films were investigated by X-ray diffraction, optical transmittance spectra, and Raman scattering studies. The as-deposited CdS films have a hexagonal structure with preferential (0 0 2) orientation. Formation of Cd metallic clusters was observed in ion implanted films from the XRD patterns. The band gap of N+ implanted films decreased, whereas the optical absorption coefficient values increased with the increase of implantation dose. The Raman peak position appeared at 299 cm-1 and the FWHM increased with the ion dose. A decrease in the area of Raman peak of CdS Al(LO) mode is seen on implantation.

A Study on the Possibility of Application as a Natural Extinguishing System for $N_2$ Generator (산업용 질소발생기에 대한 청정소화설비로의 적용가능성에 관한 연구)

  • An experimental study has been carried out to investigate the possibilities of an industrial $N_2$ generator that it replace Halon series as a natural extinguishing system. And this study comparison design standard of gas series extinguishing system with natural extinguishing system. We manufactured simple protected enclosure for analyzing fire-extinguishing performance of the $N_2$ generator. As a $N_2$ gas is exhausted on protected enclosure, a various of Oxygen concentration is measured to analyze fireextinguishing performance experimentally. The results, in case of $100m^3$ protected enclosure and $5m^3$/min $N_2$ flow rate, the Oxygen concentration is decreased below 15% within 3 minutes. And so, the $N_2$ generator make full use of an suffocating extinguishing system.

대기압 플라즈마 젯의 질소종에 의한 방출광 및 온도변화 연구

  • 최근 대기압 플라즈마 젯을 이용한 바이오/메디컬의 활발한 응용연구가 진행 중이다. 박테리아 및 세균의 살균은 물론 암세포 세포예정사에 핵심적인 역할을 하는 활성산소종(Reactive Oxygen Species, ROS) 또는 다양한 라디칼들은 대기압 플라즈마의 다양한 변수를 이용하여 조절할 수 있다고 알려져 있다. 수십 kHz의 고전압에서 발생된 마이크로 헬륨 플라즈마 젯에서 질소종의 제어를 통해 같은 부피의 플라즈마 젯에서의 방출광을 살펴보았다. 또한 광섬유센서를 이용하여 플라즈마의 기체온도를 측정하고 Boltzmann plot method를 통해 전자의 여기온도 변화를 관찰하였다. 실험의 결과, 같은 부피의 플라즈마에서 질소종이 증가할 때 기체온도는 큰 변함이 없지만 여기온도가 증가하는 것을 관찰하였다. 시간분해 이미지 촬영으로 질소종의 양에 따른 플라즈마 불릿의 속도 변화를 분석을 하였고, 최종적으로 대기압 플라즈마 젯의 질소종 변화에 따른 대장균의 비활성화 정도를 관찰하였다.

  • 알카리성 과황산칼륨을 이용한 자외선 흡광광도법은 수중의 총질소를 간편하면서도 신속하고 정확하게 분석할 수 있는 방법으로 각각의 질소성분을 standard method에 의해 분석한 후 이들을 합산하는 방법보다 회수율이 좋게 나타났다. 자외선 흡광광도법을 이용할 경우 Cr(VI)이온과 Br이온에 의해 방해를 받으므로, Br이온을 다량 함유하는 해수의 총질소 분석방법으로는 적합하지 않은 것으로 관찰되었다. 전처리를 한 후 220 nm에서 흡광도를 측정하기 위해서는 탄산염의 방해를 방지하기 위해 pH를 2~3으로 조절한 후 분석해야만 하고, 알카리성 과황산칼륨을 이용한 자외선 흡광광도법은 총질소를 분석하는 방법으로 우수성이 입증되었으나 각 형태별 질소의 농도를 측정할 수 없는 단점이 있으므로 각 형태별 질소의 농도를 측정하기 위해서는 standard method를 이용해야 된다. 본 연구에서 알카리성 과황산칼륨을 이용한 자외선 흡광광도법은 총질소를 분석하는데 있어서 standard method에 의한 합산법보다 시간과 노력을 절약할 수 있는 것으로 검토되었다.

Recommendation of Nitrogen Fertilization for Cucumber from Relationship between Soil Nitrate Nitrogen and Yield (토양의 질산태 질소와 수량과의 관계를 통한 오이의 질소 시비량 설정)

  • This study was carried out to establish the reasonable level of nitrogen (N) fertilization based on soil nitrate nitrogen $(NO_3-N)$ content for cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) under plastic film house. Cucumber plants were cultivated with standard and free N fertilization in eight soils which had various amount of $NO_3-N$ ranging from 67 to 343 mg/kg. The yield of cucumber was in the range of 1006 to 2369 g/plant depending on the nitrogen supplying capability of soils. The amount of $NO_3-N$ in the soil was negatively correlated with agronomic efficiency (AE) and N use efficiency (NUE). The critical level of soil $NO_3-N$ content for cucumber in N free fertilization was found to be about 260 mg/kg in Cate-Nelson analysis of variance between soil $NO_3-N$ and AE or NUE. Also the same critical soil $NO_3-N$ content was found in the yield and amount of N uptake of cucumber under N free fertilization. A standard N fertilization was required when soil $NO_3-N$ content was below 70 mg/kg. The optimal application rate of N fertilizer for cucumber in the soils containing $NO_3-N$ between 260-70 mg/kg could be recommended by the equation Y=-1.032X+269.2 (Y: N fertilization rate, kg/ha; X : soil $NO_3-N$ content mg/kg).

  • Since nitrogen(N) is a volatile compound affected by many environmental factors, determining the N content of manure tends to be difficult. Upon arrival in the laboratory, the manure should be moist and refrigerated. Manure samples will have variable N contents due to drying temperature, and the presence of soil in the sample will affect N content. Acidification of the sample prevents ammonia volatilization and should be done before drying. It is recommended that manure samples be pretreated with a strong oxidizing agent, KMnO$_4$, followed by digestion under reduced conditions (reduced Fe-$H_{2}$ $SO_{4}$ ), which achieves a complete recovery of both $NO_{3}$ -N and $NO_{2}$ -N without a low recovery of $NH_{4}$ -N, resulting in a more accurate determination of N content. Accuracy of results for N content determined by recently developed rapid analysis techniques in the field should be tested by comparison with results obtained at laboratories using approved standard methods. Most commonly, the Kjeldahl system is used to determine manure N content. More research is needed on the effects of species, breed, age and individuals on the nutrient contents of manure. The procedures for manure sampling on the farm, shipping and handling of the sample until it reaches the laboratory, and the methods of sampling of the manure at the laboratory must be studied. Development of animal agricultural laboratories where feed, manure, soil, and water are all analyzed by appropriate specialists is needed.

  • This study was performed to establish the analytical method of radium and radon in various environmental samples with the ${\gamma}$-ray spectrometry. The major problem in the measurements of low level ${\gamma}$-ray, such as environmental radioactivity, is the fluctuation of ${\gamma}$-ray background spectrum. To overcome this problem, a nitrogen gas was filled up in the detector chamber to reduce the background counts due to airborne radioactivities, i.e., $^{214}Pb$ and $^{214}Bi$, the daughters of $^{222}Rn$ in air. When nitrogen gas flowed around the detector, peak counts of ${\gamma}$-rays from the daughters of $^{222}Rn$ decreased about 80% below 1 MeV and about 20~50% above 1 MeV. The use of nitrogen purging results in approximately tenfold increment of sensitivity.

  • The flame retarded NBR foams were prepared with metal hydroxides and various phosphorus/nitrogen-contain ing flame retardants. The dependency of the phosphorus content on thermal properties, flame retardancy, smoke density, and foaming properties were investigated in the foams. Foaming properties and morphology of the flame retarded NBR foams with P/N flame retardants( ${\le}10 phr$) were similar to those of the foams without P/N ones but containing metal hydroxides The flame retardancy of the foams was improved with increasing the phosphorus content and char formation under combustion atmosphere. The cone-calorimeter test and LOI index were also coincided with the TGA analysis quite well. The heat release rate (HRR), total heat release (THR), and effective heat of combustion (EHC) were decreased, whereas the carbon monoxide yield was increased with increase of the phosphorus content of P/N flame retardant. The smoke density values were closely related with CO yield values obtained by the cone-calorimeter test due to the high and hard char formation.

  • Nitrogen (N) loading from domestic, agricultural and industrial sources can lead to excessive growth of macrophytes or phytoplankton in aquatic environment. Many studies have used nitrogen stable isotope ratios to identify anthropogenic nitrogen in aquatic systems as a useful method for studying nitrogen cycle. In this study to evaluate the precision and accuracy of Kjeldahl processes, two reference materials (IAEA-NO-3, N-1) were analyzed repeatedly. Measured the ${\delta}^{15}N-NO_3$ and ${\delta}^{15}N-NH_4$ values of IAEA-NO-3 and IAEA-N-1 were $4.7{\pm}0.2$‰ and $0.4{\pm}0.3$‰, respectively, which are within recommended values of analytical uncertainties. Also, we investigated spatial patterns of ${\delta}^{15}N-NO_3$ and ${\delta}^{15}N-NH_4$ in effluent plumes from a waste water treatment plant in Han River, Korea. ${\delta}^{15}N-NO_3$ and ${\delta}^{15}N-NH_4$ values are enriched at downstream areas of water treatment plant suggesting that dissolved nitrogen in effluent plumes should be one of the main N sources in those areas. The current study clarifies the reliability of Kjeldahl analytical method and the usefulness of stable isotopic techniques to trace the contamination source of dissolved nitrogen such as nitrate and ammonia.

  • 본 논문에서는 이차다항식을 이용하여 생화학적인 공정의 모델링을 행한다. SBR 반응조에서 질소제거를 위한 수처리 공정이 제시되었으며, 이 공정의 ORP값을 모델링하고 동정하기 위해 서로 다른 형태의 선형모델이 소개되었으며 결과를 비교하고 분석한다 시뮬레이션 결과로부터 합리적이고 효율적으로 모델링 될 수 있음을 검증한다.
