Synthesis and Characterization of Two Different 1,3-Dithiole-2-thiones as the Precursors of TTF Donor Molecule (TTF 주게분자의 전구체로서 두 가지 다른 1,3-Dithiole-2-thione 화합물의 합성 및 특성화)

  • As a precursor of tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) derivative, 5,6-dimethyl-1,3-dithiolo[4,5-b][1,4]dithiin-2-thione (compound 3) was synthesized by the unusual Lawesson's reaction. Depending upon the substituents such as dimethyl and diphenyl groups, two different products containing 1,4-dithiin and thiophene moieties, respectively, were obtained and characterized by $^{13}C$ NMR and high-resolution electron impact (HREI) mass spectroscopy. The formation of 3 was further characterized by X-ray structure analysis. Crystallographic data for 3: triclinic, space group P1, a=4.145(2)$\AA$, b=10.600(2)$\AA$, c=12.279(2)$\AA$, $\alpha$=71.440(10)$^{\circ}$, $\beta$=84.30(2)$^{\circ}$, $\gamma$=87.31(2)$^{\circ}$, Z=2 and R(wR$_2$)=0.0559(0.1416). The formation mechanism of two products was suggested and compared each other.

  • Taxol contents in various parts of 15 years old yew tree were determined. The descending order of taxol content per unit mass was stem bark, root bark, needle and seed. In the seed, that order was seed coat, embryo and endosperm. The total amount of taxol extractable from a 15 years old yew tree was 1.68 gram. This amount was distributed in needle, stem bark, root bark and seeds as 48.0, 23.8, 27.9 and 0.4%, respectively. Altitudinal variation of taxol content was also observed. More taxol was observed in yew trees grown at high altitude over 1000m above sea level. Calli and suspension cultures were induced from various yew trees. The presence of taxo] in cultured cells was established bv HPLC. The taxol content in cultured cells were different according to the source of explants. These results may be useful for the goal of large scale taxol production by cultured yew tree cells.

  • Generally, combustion instability is generated by the mutual coupling between the heat release and the acoustic pressure in the combustor. On the occasion, the acoustic pressure generates the oscillation of the mass flow rate of propellant injected from injector, and this oscillation again affects combustion in the combustor. So, the dynamic characteristics of the injector have been studied to control combustion instability using injector itself in Russia from 1970's. In order to study injector dynamics, a mechanical pulsator for forced pressure pulsation is produced and the method to quantify the mass flow rate of the propellant that is oscillating at the exit of the injector is developed. With the pulsator and the method, pulsating values of the mass flow rate, pressure, liquid film thickness, and axial velocity generated at the exit of the simplex swirl injector are measured in real time. And phase-amplitude characteristics of each parameter are analyzed using these pulsating values acquired at the exit of the simplex swirl injector.

An Experimental Study on Flow Characteristics of R134a in a Small Diameter Tube (세관내 R-134a의 유동특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The flow characteristics of R-134a in a small diameter tube was investigated experimentally. An experimental apparatus was consisted of a magnetic gear pump, an evaporator, a sight-glass, a condenser and a measurement instruments. The sight-glass for flow pattern observations was located at the inlet and outlet of the evaporator. The experiment was carried out to show the flow characteristics of R-134a in a small diameter tube. Mass flux of refrigerants was ranged from 100 to 1000 $kg/m^2s$, the saturation temperature was $30^{\circ}C$. In the flow patterns during evaporation, the annular flow in a 2 mm inner diameter tube occurred at a relatively lower quality and mass velocity, compared to that in a 8 mm inner diameter tube. The evaporation flow pattern in a small diameter tube has been shown major deviations with the Baker, Mandhane and Taitel-Dutler's flow pattern maps but it was similar to the Dobson's flow pattern map.

  • 티타네이트 나노튜브는 10 nm 이내의 내경과 0.74nm 정도의 크기를 갖는 층상 구조를 이루고 있어 높은 비표면적을 이용한 수소의 물리적 흡착뿐만 아니라 Ti-H 결합에 의한 화학적 흡착이 동시에 가능하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 전이금속 원소 중 Ni을 첨가한 티타네이트 나노튜브를 합성하고 수소저장특성을 평가하고자 하였다. 티타네이트 나노튜브는 저온균일침전법으로 제조된 침상형의 $TiO_2$ 분말을 출발원료로 염화니켈을 $TiO_2$의 질량 비로 1~5wt% 첨가하고 10 M의 NaOH 수용액에서 일정시간 혼합한 후 $150^{\circ}C$에서 24시간 수열합성하였다. 합성된 분말의 입자형상 및 결정상은 전자현미경과 X-선 회절 시험을 이용하여 분석하였고, 입자의 비표면적은 액체질소흡착법을 이용하여 측정하였다. 전자현미경 관찰결과 이온교환 전후의 입자형상은 큰 변화가 없었던 반면 이온교환 후 입자의 비표면적이 30% 이상 증가함을 확인하였다. 특히 Ni의 도핑량이 증가함에 토라 입자의 비표면적도 함께 증가하였으며, 전자현미경 관찰결과 더욱 미세한 나노튜브가 형성됨을 확인할 수 있었다. P-C-T를 이용하여 측정한 순수한 티타네이트 나노튜브의 수소저장량이 20기압에서 1.2 wt% 정도로 측정된 반면 Ni이 5 wt% 첨가된 티타네이트 나노튜브의 경우 같은 압력에서 1.6 wt%를 나타내었다.

Prediction of Heave Natural Frequency for Floating Bodies (부유체의 상하동요 고유진동수 예측)

  • As the motion response of heave for floating bodies on the water surface is relatively large near the natural frequency, it is necessary to predict its value accurately from the stage of initial design. Bodies accelerating in fluid experience force acted upon by the fluid, and this force is quantified by using the concept of added mass. For predicting the natural frequency of heave we need to know the added mass, which is given as a function of frequency, and hence the natural frequency can be obtained through only by iteration process, as was pointed out by Lee (2008). His method was applied to circular cylinders, and two dimensional cylinders of Lewis form by making use of the Ursell-Tasai method in the previous works, Lee and Lee (2013), Kim and Lee (2013), and Song and Lee (2015). In this work, a similar algorithm employing the concept of strip method is adopted for predicting the heave natural frequency of KCS(KRISO Container Ship), and the obtained computational result was compared with other existing experimental data, and the agreement seems reasonable. Furthermore, through the error analysis, it is shown that why the frequency corresponding to the local minimum of the added mass and the natural frequency are very close. And it seems probable that we can predict the heave natural frequency if we know only the local minimum of added mass and the corresponding frequency under a condition, which holds for ship-like bodies in general.

A Study on Flow Characteristics of a Separate Triangular Bar Differential Pressure Flow Meter for Measuring Exhaust Flow Rate of Diesel Engine (디젤엔진 배기 가스 유량 측정용 삼각 분리 막대형 차압유량계 유량 특성 연구)

  • A separate triangular bar type differential pressure flow meter was developed for measuring exhaust gas flow rate from Diesel engine. Three kinds of the separate triangular bar flow meters whose aerodynamic angles are different one another are made and evaluated, respectively. The experimental results show that an aerodynamic shape has a effect on the pressure difference between upstream and downstream at the flow meter, that is, the thinner the shape of the separate triangular bar flow meter is, the smaller the pressure difference at the flow meter is. The separate triangular bar type flow meter was calibrated at both cold and high temperature of the gas flow. A burner system was designed for raising the gas temperature and it was well operated in controlling the gas temperature. An empirical correlation between mass flow rate and differential pressure at the separate triangular bar flow meter was obtained and the empirical correlation was also corrected by the gas temperature.

Yaw Gearbox Design for 4MW Class Wind Turbine (4MW급 풍력발전기용 요 감속기 설계)

  • In this paper, the weight reduction design of the yaw gearbox for wind turbine was performed through the finite element analysis method, and the stability was checked by performing the critical speed analysis. The weight reduction product can improve engine efficiency, save parts materials, and earn economic benefits. The yaw gearbox is lightweighted with the goal of achieving a safety rate of 1.3 or higher for wind turbine as indicated by IEC61400-1. In order to reduce the weight of the carrier, a topology optimization method was performed. The safety factor was verified by performing finite element analysis on the carrier. In addition, the housing and carrier were modeled using the finite element method, and the gear train was modeled using MASTA. For the yaw gearbox, the housing and carrier FE model and the gear train model were connected by the partial structural synthesis method to perform the rotational vibration analysis. Vibration excitation sources are mass unbalance and gear mesh frrequemcy, and as a result of the critical speed analysis, it was found that there was no resonance within the operating speed range.

Determination of thyroid hormones by solid-phase extraction using high performance liquid chromatograph/diode array detector/electro-spray ionization mass spectrometry in urine samples (HPLC/DAD/ESI-MS 및 고체상 추출법을 이용한 뇨시료중 갑상선 호르몬 분석)

  • An analytical method for the determination of thyroid hormones in urine samples has been studied by using solid-phase extraction and high-performance liquid chromatography/diode array detector/electro-spray mass spectrometry. Seven thyroid hormones were successfully separated by gradient elution on the reverse phase Hypersil ODS column (4.6 mm I.D., 100 mm length, particle size $5{\mu}m$) with ammonium formate buffer and acetonitrile, and UV spectra and mass fragment could be confirmed. The extraction recoveries of thyroid hormones in the urine samples (pH 3) were in the range of 89.0-113.1% with solid-phase extraction by C18, followed by elution with 4 ml of methanol/ammonium hydroxide (9 : 1). The calibration curves showed good linearity with the correlation coefficients ($r^2$) varying from 0.992 to 0.998 and the detection limits of all analytes were obtained in the range of 2-4 ng/ml (3.8-13.0 pmol/ml).

Optimum Design of Dynamic Vibration Absorber for Reducing Bending Vibrations of Two-Piece Vehicle Drive Line (2축 분할식 차량 구동라인의 굽힘진동 저감을 위한 동흡진기 최적설계)

  • In this paper, design parameters of dynamic vibration absorber, which is used to reduce bending vibrations of a vehicle drive line, is optimized. For obtaining the correct dynamic response characteristics, a flexible-body drive line is made by applying the flexibility data extracted from vibration analysis of propeller shafts to the drive line dynamic model. Inner tube mass, rubber stiffness and rubber damping coefficient of the dynamic vibration absorber are taken as design parameters for optimization. To minimize the vertical acceleration of the drive line, a second-order regression equation of the objective function is generated by performing the central composite experimental design with 3 factors, 2 levels and 15 test runs. And the design parameters of the dynamic vibration absorber are determined by using optimization program. The vehicle model with optimized dynamic vibration absorber reduces the vertical acceleration peak of the drive line by 17.1 % in compared with the initial model.
