Specific carotenoids and astaxanthin biosynthesis power of Phaffia rhodozyma mutant 876, which was obtained after NTG a and UV treatments, was higher than those of the wild type by 40% and 50%, respectively. The mutant strain did not show t the catabolite repression even at 22% (w/v) glucose concentration. The optimum C{N ratio was 2.0, and the optimum t temperature and initial pH were $22^{\circ}C$ and 6.0, respectively. 80th cell growth and astaxanthin formation decreased drastically a as the fermentation temperature was increased over $22^{\circ}C$, whereas they were comparable in the pH range between 5.0 and 7 7.0. Inoculum size did not affect the final cell density nor the carotenoids biosynthesis, and 3%(v/v) was selected as optimal. H Higher dissolved oxygen concentration facilitated astaxanthin biosynthesis, and aeration rate of 1.0 v/0/m and agitation speed of 400 rpm were selected as optimum. The final cell dens때 of 43.3 g/L and the volumetric astaxanthin and carotenoids concentrations of 110.6 mg/L and 149.4 mg/L, respectively, were obtained. The specific carotenoids concentration was 3.45 m mg{g-yeast(dry). Yx/s and Yp/s values of 0.37 and 1.08 were obtained. The result of this study will provide basic information u useful for mass production of astaxanthin from P. rhodozyma fermentation.

Since the application of roundabouts by 2010 have been started, more than 350 roundabouts were installed in Korea. Recently the types of constructed roundabouts become various, and the intersection conditions for installing roundabouts were also various. However, there were some difficulties to install roundabouts around school zone due to safety problems. In this study, appropriate distance from adjacent signal crosswalks to roundabouts were estimated for securing pedestrian safety and operation efficiency around school zone. With the analyses, the minimum distance standard was suggested to obtain operational effectiveness of roundabout according to traffic volume, traffic flow, pedestrian green time and secures pedestrian safety and convenience. In this paper, average delay of roundabout as various length of distances between an adjacent crosswalk and a roundabout as different pedestrian signal times, traffic volumes, traffic flow rates were analyzed. Through this study, it was found that about four times of delay in a roundabout was generated if there was adjacent signal crosswalk. However if there is enough distance between an adjacent crosswalk and a roundabout, the value of increasing delay on roundabouts with adjacent a signalized crosswalk can be considerably reduced. Critical value of the distance between a roundabout and a signal crosswalk in case of roundabouts within 200-500 vehicle/hour/lane entry traffic flow, 20-40% of left turn traffic, and over 15 seconds pedestrian green time was about 50 meters. In conclusion, if there is minimum 40 meter distance from roundabouts, adjacent signal crosswalks can be installed and operated for students' safety around school zone.
In the condition of electronic controlled acceleration system, APS Sensor is the only and the most important parts to reflect the will of driver. Especially, the non-reference type APS is the critical part of this system. It can't provide the cross-reference values and it will make the vehicle goes into the 'NMC(Non-moveable condition)' or 'Limp-home mode' on the malfunction situation easier. If the situation is happened, it's very dangerous condition for the drivers, soldiers and war material systems of battlefield. The electronic control is not a necessary system for the tactical vehicles. The tactical vehicles must be prepared the manual control system independently from the electronic control system to escape, save and rescue the soldier's life and war materials. Therefore it was studied the water-penetrated broken APS output. If the output value was changed without driver's will, even the cross-reference type APS, it will effect the uncontrollable engine RPM changing or the performance down on limp-home mode. It means the manual control system of tactical vehicle is needed for any kinds of APS.

Cone penetration tests (CPTs) have been increasingly used for site characterizations. However, the site investigations using CPTs are often limited due to soil conditions depending on the cone size and capacity of the CPT system. The small sectional area of a miniature cone improves the applicability of the CPT system due to the increased capacity of the CPT system. A continuous intrusion system using a coiled rod allows fast and cost effective site investigation. In this study, the performance of the continuous intrusion miniature cone penetration test (CIMCPT) system has been evaluated by comparison tests with the standard CPT system at several construction sites in Korea. The results show that the CIMCPT system has a same performance with the CPT system and has advantages on the mobility and applicability. According to field verification tests for scale effect evaluation, the cone tip resistance evaluated by CIMCPT overestimates by 10% comparing to standard CPTs. A crawler mounted with the CIMCPT system has been implemented to improve accessibility to soft ground, and has shown improvement over the truck type CIMCPT system. Therefore, the improved CIMCPT system can be utilized as a cost effective and highly reliable soil investigation methodology to detect the depth of soft ground and to evaluate soil classification.

All the countries in the world is currently facing the full scale of energy-climate era currently, and making strong energy policy that will lead to green growth of the future energy resources by utilizing renewable energy as the basis of entering the advanced country becomes the goal of development that satisfies the demand for energy in 21st century. Recently, ocean energy attracted the attention along with the necessity of developing renewable energy. Ocean energy is the one of most prominent recyclable and clean resources that has not been developed yet. So, it is highly required to develop good tidal current energy conversion system in coastal area. The inflow angle that acts against tidal current turbine, seabed effect and the change of efficiency along the occurrence of cavitation were investigated through the wake flow characteristics in this study. Power coefficient degradation by seabed effect did not appear in the condition of this calculation. Efficiency degradation appeared from above $10^{\circ}$ regarding inflow angle and power coefficient was calculated as lower by 7 % at $45^{\circ}$. Torque and power coefficient increased as inflow velocity rose, but power coefficient degradation appeared from above 3m/s when the cavitation happened. So, it was recognized that the larger inflow angle and occurrence of cavitation become the reason for power degradation through the flow characteristics.

The newly improved multistep steel pipe grouting method was applied to an existing steel pipe-reinforced grouting method. It was applied in order to prevent a damage caused by ground failure from excessive grouting pressure in a tunnel construction. The tunnel goes under a highway and a ramp connected to a rest area on OO highway with 11.3~12.1 m depth cover and is a part of roadbed facility construction section ordered by OO public corporation. The improved grouting method provides pre-construction work condition assessment technique through new water injection limit test and grouting effect assessment technique by grouting type assessment. It also includes assessments on interval of joints, appropriate grouting pressure, and optimal operation time to be applied to current operations. Application of the grouting method allowed the smooth road management in shallow-depth grouting construction area located upper part of tunnel excavation. Moreover, the possibility of the application of the method not only to shallow-depth grouting construction but also to various steel pipe-reinforced grouting constructions was confirmed.
Driver's psychophysiological load is one of the key measures for evaluating the safety of the highway. The purpose of this study is to propose and to test the methodology of evaluating the length limit of tangent section using driver's psychophysiological load. Driver's psychophysiological data is represented by the data acquire by frontal and occipital lobe. In order to compare the differences between tangent segments and the orders, real road driving experiments were performed. We collected psychophysiological data during the operation of vehicles. The experimental data were analyzed using FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) and relative power spectrum tools. These routine produces the beta value which is a major factor in consideration of driver's condition. The results in this study are summarized as follows: (1) A new methodology of evaluating the length limit in tangent section of highway using driver's psychophysiological load was proposed. (2) It was observed that driver's work load at tangent section was three times lower than that at the other section types. The beta value at tangent section is 2.219, while that at general section is 0.821. (3) It was observed that the driver's work load was significantly dropped to 0.428 after the continuous driving of 4.2km tangent section. (4) Based on the experimental subjects(from 27 Years to 31). we suggest that 30 times of design speed(3.0 km) could be acceptable as the length limit of tangent section in highway rather than the Previous limit which is 20 times of design speed(2.0km).

For the soft ground construction, the factors not considered in the design stage occurs in the construction stage so that they cause the increase of the construction cost due to the structural stability and the design change. The subject of the study is the construction section of the industrial complex access road made in the Ochang region of Chungcheongbuk-do. The study is concerned with selecting the soft ground handling method such as the replacement method using rock debris and the surcharge reflecting the service load as the soft ground handling measure and analyzing the effect of reducing the construction cost with the stability of structures and the reduction of the construction period. The soft ground in the study section consists of sandy and cohesive soil and is 2.4m to 5.5m deep. It is distributed unevenly between the 1.5m to 5.9m stratums under the ground surface. Settlement is not serious, but the future uneven settlement and difference are expected so that the future settlement behavior is estimated by analyzing the site measurement results after the soft ground treatment. Moreover, in consideration of the regional characteristics and economic efficiency, soil with good quality is replaced with rock debris as the replacement material so that 29% of the construction cost is reduced due to the increase of stability and the reduction of duration. If the estimation of the dispersion of the pore water pressure within the dam body and the change of the underground water level and the relation of the actually measured soft ground with consolidation is studied further on the basis of the study, it is expected that the behavior of the soft ground will be correctly estimated in various site conditions.

Recently, the offshore wind power generator market is expected to grow significantly because of increased energy demand, reduced dependence on fossil fuel-based power generation, and environmental regulations. Consequently, wind power generation is increasing worldwide, and several attempts have been made to utilize offshore wind power. Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) requires a leg-structure design with a collision energy of 35 MJ owing to the event of a collision under operation conditions. In this study, the results of the numerical analysis of a wind turbine installation vessel subjected to ship collision were set such that the maximum collision energy that the leg could sustain was calculated and compared with the PSA requirements. The current leg design plan does not satisfy the required value of 35 MJ, and it is necessary to increase the section modulus by more than 200 % to satisfy the regulations, which is unfeasible in realistic leg design. Therefore, a collision energy standard based on a reasonable collision scenario should be established.
Most pharmaceutical licensing deals are made in the early stage of drug development. While this development process is not unique for complicated technology, a special feature of drug development is that it is highly regulated and a well-defined process. Its statistics in terms of costs and chances of technical success have been researched extensively. This enables relatively detailed calculations as benchmarks for actual deals to be made. Based on such calculations and on the analysis of licensing terms in published agreements, various companies offer quite expensive information, databases, software programs and consultation services to help establish what might be reasonable economic terms in a licensing deal. Over the years, pharmaceutical royalties have been the subject of various articles in journals. Most specific on this subject was the article on determining pharmaceutical royalties. Many other articles are about a more general nature deal with determining reasonable royalty rates, evaluating and underpinning the empirical value and usefulness of the 25% rule. The object of this article is to provide a relatively simple analytical approach based on the major economic terms underlying pharmaceutical licensing deals. The aim is to enhance the understanding of the relations between the major factors involved. Details are disregarded, as generally, where the terms of licensing deals depend on predictions over a considerable length of time, the value of detail is limited. Some specific issues addressed by the approach are the impact on profits of large investments, high risks and long development times characteristic of drug development, the consequent strong impact that the ultimate sales levels and operating margins may have on what might be considered a reasonable royalty rate, and the relationship between upfront payments and milestone payments to be paid during pharmaceutical development and the royalties due once the drug enters the market.
