Operating Characteristics of Low Vacuum Pumps (저진공 펌프의 운전 특성)

  • For evaluation of durability of low vacuum pumps, it is required to examine the performance and degradation of low vacuum pumps. Pump degradation may result from abnormalities associated with the performance in many areas of pump operation. The diagnostics method can be used to monitor the pump performance in the semi-conductor process line. Based on the mechanical defect of the pump, the dynamic response and reliability of the system for performance test, and the dynamic characteristics of the pump were experimentally assessed. The theoretical work rate for the compression process in the pump was calculated, and then the efficiency of the pump associated with the power consumption was evaluated. This analysis will be useful in detecting pump degradation with increasing the power consumption. To determine the predominant factors of pump degradation, it is important to evaluate the entire pumping system. We studied vibration, dynamic pressure, pumping speed, and power consumption of low vacuum pumps. Our results can be utilized for the future research on the evaluating technology of durability of low vacuum pumps.

고급알코올을 이용한 토너의 응집 및 탈묵 기술

  • 사무용 고지의 상당량을 차지하는 복사고지는 열과 압력으로 융착된 합성고분자 물질인 토너를 함유하고 있으며 이들 토너는 펄핑 후 크고 판상 형태의 잉크 입자를 형성하 여 기존의 부유부상법으로 제거가 곤란한 문제점을 지니고 있었다. 이러한 문제점을 극복하 는 방안으로 응집제를 이용하는 방법을 검토하였다. 복사기용 인쇄 잉크로 널리 사용되는 토너 업자는 낮은 표면에너지를 가지는 소수 성 물질이므로 같은 표면 특성을 가지는 소수성 물질과 서로 잘 결합한다. 따라서 소수성의 응집제를 이용하면 분리된 토너 잉크업자를 응집시킬 수 있으며, 응집된 토너 응집체는 스 크린 또는 클리닝 같은 정선 공정을 이용하여 제거가 가능할 것이다. 따라서 복사고지를 효 과적으로 재활용할 수 있는 탈묵방법으로 응집제를 이용하여 토너 입자를 조대한 웅집체로 형성시키고 이를 기존 탈묵방법인 스크린처리로 제거하는 방법을 검토하였다. 본 연구에서는 고급알코올의 하나언 1 -octadecanol을 이용하여 기존의 탈묵 방법 인 부유부상법으로는 제거가 곤란한 토너 잉크의 업자를 웅집시켜 구형의 조대한 응집체로 형성시켜 이를 제거하는 기술에 대하여 연구하였다. 펄핑 시의 온도를 70C의 고온으로 설 정한 경우 토너 입자가 유리전이온도에 이르게 되며 이들 토너 입자는 응집제에 의하여 웅 집되어 구형으로 성장하는 특정이 뚜렷하였으며, 토너 응집체의 크기는 최대 800 µm에 이 르기까지 조대하게 성장하였다. 또한 슬롯 폭 $250\mu\textrm{m}$의 진동 스크린 처리에 의한 토너 제 거 효율 측정 결과 역시 이들 토너 업자 웅집체의 형태가 구형임을 보여주었다. 해리 및 응 집 처 리 시 의 pH를 3으로 조정 하였을 때 토너 입 자가 웅집 제인 1 -octadecanol에 의 해 가장 효과적으로 구형의 조대한 웅집체를 이루는 것으로 나타났으며, 스크련을 통한 토너 웅집체 제거효율이 향상되었다. 복사고지 내에 포함되어 있는 전분 또는 사이즈제는 웅집 효과를 떨어뜨리는 주요 인으로 나타났다.

Identification of Structural Defects in Rail Fastening Systems Using Flexural Wave Propagation (굽힘파 전파 특성을 이용한 레일체결장치의 구조 결함 진단)

  • An experimental method based on flexural wave propagation is proposed for identification of structural damage in rail fastening systems. The vibration of a rail clamped and supported by viscoelastic pads is significantly influenced by dynamic support properties. Formation of a defect in the rail fastening system induces changes in the flexural wave propagation characteristics owning to the discontinuity in the structural properties. In this study, frequency-dependent support stiffness was measured to monitor this change by a transfer function method. The sensitivity of wave propagation on the defect was measured from the potential energy stored in a continuously supported rail. Further, the damage index was defined as a correlation coefficient between the change in the support stiffness and the sensitivity. The defect location was identified from the calculated damage index.

  • AlSb는 광전자 소자응용에 매우 유용한 재료이며 이를 이용한 반도체소자 설계 및 밴드갭 엔지니어링을 위해서는 화합물 반도체의 전자밴드구조를 포함한 광학적 특성이 반드시 요구된다. 본 연구는 이러한 요구의 해결방안으로서 AlSb 화합물의 유전함수 온도의존성을 0.7~5.0 eV의 에너지 영역에서 타원편광분석법을 이용하여 분석하였다. AlSb는 산소와 급격히 반응하기 때문에, 대기 중에서 물질 고유의 광특성이 유지되기 어려울 뿐만 아니라, 박막 위에 생성되는 산화막 때문에 순수한 AlSb의 유전함수 측정이 불가능하다. 따라서 박막의 산화 효과를 최소화하기 위하여 초고진공 상태의 molecular beam epitaxy 챔버 안에서 800 K의 온도로 성장한 1.5 ${\mu}m$ 두께의 AlSb 박막을 상온 300 K 까지 온도를 단계적으로 변화시켜가며 타원편광분석기를 이용하여 실시간으로 측정하였다. 각 온도에서 측정된 AlSb의 유전함수를 2차 미분하여 전이점(critical point)을 분석한 결과 $E_0$, $E_0+{\Delta}_0$, $E_1$, $E_1+{\Delta}_1$, $E_0'$, $E_0'+{\Delta}_0'$, $E_2$, $E_2+{\Delta}_2$에 해당하는 각 전이점들의 온도 의존성을 확인할 수 있었다. 실험에서 측정된 특정 온도를 포함하여 임의의 온도에서의 AlSb의 유전함수를 유도하기 위하여 변수화모델을 사용하였고 이를 통하여 각 변수들의 온도 의존 궤적을 분석하였다. 2차 미분법을 이용한 전이점들의 온도의존성 분석결과를 기준으로 변수화 모델링을 진행하였으며 그 결과 각 온도에서 실제 유전함수와 근소한 차이를 갖는 AlSb의 유전함수 모델을 만들 수 있었다. 따라서 본 연구결과는 반도체 물성에 대한 학술적 측면뿐 아니라 고온에서의 소자공정 실시간 모니터링 및 반도체 소자 설계 등의 산업적 측면에서 매우 유용하게 사용될 것으로 기대된다.

  • The rock excavation work by doing blasting breaks the rock by using a shock pressure and gas pressure produced when explosive explodes and the shock wave by shock pressure propagated three-dimensionally from the exploding center is on the decrease notably to the distance, however, $0.5{\sim}20%$ of energy produced by blasting propagates into the ground outside a crack zone by the shape of an elastic wave, on the ground it appears as a ground vibration with a seismic amplitude and a seismic cycle, it is called a blasting vibration. on the other side, what propagated in the air is called a blasting sound. The blasting sound of both means the things which the shock sound within the range the audible frequency($20{\sim}20000Hz$) of the elastic wave in the air influences the response system of a human body, it doesn't harm physically to any structures but influences unreasonably a work accomplishment, such as a work discontinuance due to the outbreak of a public complaint by a mental pain, reduction of a blasting scale, etc.. So, this study is examined at about 20 sites on the installation time and method of soundproofing facilities for reduction of the sound accompanied with a tunnel blasting work.

Isobaric Vapor-Liquid Equilibrium of 1-propanol and Bromochloromethane System at Subatmospheric Pressures (감압하에서 1-propanol과 Bromochloromethane의 정압 기-액 평형)

  • A binary system of 1-propanol and bromochloromethane which exhibits an azeotropic point and a considerable nonideal phase behavior probably due to the large boiling point difference is not amenable in the actual chemical processes such as the distillation tower and absorber. Therefore, experimental data of phase behavior data of this mixture are indispensable in understanding the inherent thermodynamic characteristics for an efficient application of the system in the industrial processes. In this work, the isobaric vapor-liquid equilibrium of a binary mixture consisting of 1-propanol and bromochloromethane was measured by using a recirculating equilibrium cell at various pressures ranging from 30 to 70 kPa. The measured VLE data were correlated in a satisfactory manner by using the UNIQUAC and NRTL models along with the thermodynamic consistency test based on Gibbs/Duhem equation. In addition, the excess molar volume of the mixture was also measured by using a vibrating densitometer and correlated with a Redlich-Kister polynomial.

  • Air abrasion technology can prepare enamel and dentin for bonding, similar to etching by acidic gels and solutions. Longer treatment can excavate pit and fissures, preparing the tooth for immediate placement of bonded resin materials. Although not appropriate for every clinical situation, the air abrasive technology minimizes heat, vibration and bone-conducted noise associated with conventional means of caries removal since the cutting is accomplished by air pressure. Also, patients treated with the air-abrasion technology rarely request anesthesia. Air abrasion technology was more effective in treating early carious lesions and stains compared to lesions where caries had already progressed to produce soft dentin and the strong air stream and noise caused by the evacuation system was a major discomfort to pediatric patients, and the experience and skillfulness of clinician should be required for accurate and proper tooth preparation.

  • As resent trends in structural construction have been to build taller and larger structures than any time in the past, they have had high flexibility and low damping that can cause large vibration response under severe environmental loading such as earthquakes, winds, and mechanical excitations. The damper with mass and sqring is one aproach to safeguarding the structure against excessive vibrations. In this paper, a large capacity hybrid-type linear motor damper(LMD) was designed and fabricated for the application to the vibration control of a large building structure model. It has been designed to be able to move the damper mass, 1,500 kg up to ${\pm}250mm$ strokes at the first mode natural frequency of the building structure model, ${\pm}0.51Hz$. Linear motor is consisted of the fixed coil and the movable NdFeB permanent magnets field part. The PM field part composed magnet modules and iron yoke, is the damper mass itself, 1500kg. LMD therefore has a simplified structure and requires a few elements in the driving system, being compared with a rotary motor damper and a hydraulic damper. However, the manufacture of large PM linear actuator is difficult because of the limit of PM size and the attraction and repulsion at the assembly of PM. Therefore, large damper system is manufactured and tested for dynamic characteristics and frequency response.

  • In this paper, $3^{rd}$ overtone mode energy-trapped filter using modified $PbTiO_3$ system ceramics was manufactured to apply for intermediate frequency SMD-type filter with the variations of splitted electrode size. To investigate the effects of splitted electrode size on filter characteristics of $3^{rd}$ overtone mode energy-trapped filter, ceramic wafers were fabricated by etching splitted rectangular electrode size($b{\times}d$) of b=0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1mm, d=0.3, 0.4, 0.5mm, respectively. And then, SMD-type ceramic filter were fabricated with the size of $3.7{\times}3.1mm$.   • LED light sources have been known to have a long life and good energy efficiency compared to traditional light sources. Recently, headlamps using LED light sources have ensured the forward visibility and safe operation of high-speed rolling stock. However, assessing the lifespan of LED headlamps based on real test data is not easy because it depends on the multiple stress factors such as a fixed driving current, junction temperature, vibration and so on. Generally, LED headlamps have failed before their advertised life span mainly due to temperature. Thus, the performance assessment of a temperature control unit should be done before a life cycle test of LED headlamps. This study attempted to develop a prototype temperature control module for a lifecycle test system using a commercial LED headlight and verified the system through experiments.
