High Energy Electron Dosimetry by Alanine/ESR Spectroscopy (Alanine/ESR Spectroscopy에 의한 고에너지 전자선의 선량측정)

  • Dosimerty based on electron spin resonance (ESR) analysis of radiation induced free radicals in amino acids is relevant to biological dosimetry applications. Alanine detectors are without walls and are tissue equivalent. Therefore, alanine ESR dosimetry looks promising for use in the therapy level. The dose range of the alanine/ESR dosimetry system can be extended down to 1 Gy. In water phantom the absorbed dose of electrons generated by a medical linear accelerator of different initial energies $(6\~21MeV)$ and therapeutic dose levels (1~60 Gy) was measured. Furthermore, depth dose measurements carried out with alanine dosimeters were compared with ionization chamber measurements. As the results, the measured absorbed doses for shallow depth of initial electron energies above 15 MeV were higher by$2\~5\%$ than those calculated by nominal energy $C_E$ factors. This seems to be caused by low energy scattered beams generated from the scattering foil and electron cones of beam projecting device in medical linear accelerator.

Modeling of Automobile Suspension System for Analyzing Automobile Vibration (자동차 진동해석을 위한 자동차 현가계의 모델링)

  • As automobile technology advances, a smoother ride with less noise is desired. In order to achieve these purposes, a study on the vibration and noise produced by a moving automobile was carried out and a model for tire vibration characteristics which influence the ride performance was developed. The model was verified through simulations and experiments. The developed model was then applied to a half car model and automobile vibrations were analyzed. The effects of tire design parameters on the automobile vibration energy were investigated. The results from laboratory and field tests confirm the validity of the analytical model. The 17-DOF half-car model was built to analyze automobile vibration. The characteristics of the nonlinear model for a shock absorber were applied to this model. The results from the present 17-DOF half car model incorporating the analytical tire model with tire design parameters, were compared with the 5-DOF half car model where the tire was modeled with linear springs. The results of the 17-DOF model are close to the experimental results. Using the 17-DOF model, the influence of tire design parameter were considered. According to the analysis results, the vibrations at seat/body/wheel were predicted by simulation and experiment.

  • 전자기 유도 투과(electromagnetically induced transparency ; EIT)는 원자의 공명 진동수를 갖는 조사광이 원자 매질을 통과할 때, 강한 결합광에 의한 효과로 매질에 흡수되지 않고 투과하는 양자 간섭 효과로써 원자결맞음 현상의 가장 대표적인 현상 중의 하나이다.   • 홍수기 하천에서 유량측정은 예산, 인력, 안전 및 측정 시 편의성 등의 이유로 측정에 제한이 많다. 특히, 태풍 등으로 인한 호우사상 발생 시 위와 같은 문제로 홍수량 측정에 어려움이 따른다. 이러한 문제점을 개선하기 위해 Lee et al.(2021)은 드론과 전자파표면유속계의 기능을 융합한 DSVM(Dron and Surface Veloctity Meter using doppler radar) 측정방법을 개발하였다. 전자파표면유속계 측정의 제한 요소인 진동을 감소시키기 위해 댐퍼플레이트를 개발하였고 금강의 지류인 봉황천에 현장 적용을 통해 DSVM 측정방법의 실용성을 확인하였다. 기존 연구에서 DSVM 방법은 드론의 각 측선 이동을 위한 조종과 전자파표면유속계 측정의 제어를 측정자가 수행하였는데 본 연구에서는 통합 드론측정시스템(IDMS, Integrated Drone Measurement System) 개발을 통해 측정자의 조종 의존도를 줄임과 동시에 안전하고 정확한 유량측정을 위해 노력하였다. 기존 댐퍼플레이트의 상하 진동 흡수 기능뿐만 아니라 전자파표면유속계의 흔들림 현상 등 자세 제어 기능을 보완하기 3축 모터를 적용한 방수짐벌을 개발하여 측정 정확도를 향상시켰다. 미션컴퓨터 개발로 측정지점의 측정 임무정보를 DB화하여 각 측선별 헤딩, 고도, 이동 등 자동항법 기능과 기체의 안정화 이후 전자파표면유속계를 자동으로 제어하여 측정을 실시하는 기능을 구현하였다. 또한 통합 GCS(Ground Control System)를 통해 비행 및 측정에 대한 모든 정보를 확인하고 컨트롤 할 수 있게 하였다. 2022년 금산군(제원대교), 무주군(취수장), 경주시(서천교) 지점에서 홍수기 유량측정에 도입하여 중간단면적법, 지표유속법을 적용하여 통합드론측정시스템의 실용성을 검증 완료하였다. 2023년 현장에 18대의 통합 드론측정시스템을 도입하여 홍수기 유량측정에 활용할 계획이다.

Magnetic and Infrared Spectral Studies of Oxovanadium (IV)-Carboxylate Complexes (옥소바나듐 (IV)-카르복실레이트 착물의 자기적 및 적외적 분광학적 성질)

  • Four oxovandium(IV) complexes with carboxylate ligands, $VO(picn)_2$, $VO(htmq)_2$, $VO(quin)_2$ and $VO(pyra)_2{\cdot}2H_2O)$ have been prepared and studied. Infrared spectral data coupled with the results of magnetic susceptibility study strongly suggest that there are relatively strong intermolecular interactions in $VO(picn)_2$ and $VO(htmq)_2$. In all oxovanadium(IV) complexes studied in this work, the carboxylate ligand coordinates to the metal ion in the unidentated fashion. Some fundamental vibration modes of oxovanadium(IV) complexes were empirically assigned from the difference in the spectrum of metal complex with free ligand.

Semi-Empirical MO Calculations and Infrared Spectroscopy of Hydrogen-Bonding in Alkyl Alcohols (알킬알코올의 수소결합에 대한 적외선분광법 및 반경험적분자궤도함수의 계산)

  • Infrared absorption spectra of alkyl alcohols in the OH stretching region were obtained from varying the concentrations of alcohols in $CCl_4$. The OH stretching bands were broadened and shifted to lower frequencies due to the hydrogen-bond formation. Three bands were obtained from the breakdown of these bands by the simplex method. Each band was assigned to various types of hydrogen-bonded OH groups. The electronic structures and interaction energies of dimeric and trimeric alcohols were calculated by semi-empirical MO(CNDO/2, INDO) methods. These results were in good agreement with those of deconvoluted ir spectra. The EDA(electron donor-acceptor) effect of alkyl group on hydrogen-bond formation was in the decreasing order of butyl > propyl > ethyl > methyl group. On the other hand, the experimental results were in the order : propyl > ethyl > butyl > methyl group. This seemed to be ascribed to the bulkiness of butyl alcohol.

  • The experimental results of sodium-water reaction noise measurement in frequency range $1{/sim}200kHz$ are presented. The experiments of noise generation under the condition of sodium test facility, water leak rate $0.01{\sim}1.2g/s$ and temperature of sodium $250{\sim}500^{\circ}C$, were carried out. From theoretical study it is noted that the noise resonant attenuation on hydrogen bubbles in liquid sodium plays the significant role for leak noise spectra formation. Interaction of leak noise and hydrogen bubbles in sodium being accompanied by thermal, emission and viscosity energy dissipation was studied. Acoustic noise spectra were investigated from point of view of water leak detection in sodium/water steam generator. The results of sodium-water reaction noise absorption on hydrogen bubbles in liquid sodium by temperature $250{\sim}500^{\circ}C$ are presented. The theoretical model of noise absorption using the coefficients of attenuation was developed. From calculation the coefficients of attenuation were estimated.

Swelling Behavior and Hydration Number of Langmuir-Blodgett Films of Metal-Palmitate Deposited on a Piezoelectric Quartz Crystal Plate (압전수정결정판 위에 적층된 금속-Palmitate Langmuir-Blodgett 막의 팽창거동 및 수화수)

  • Monolayers of calcium palmitate were deposited on a piezoelectric quartz crystal plate by the Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) technique, and it was found from frequency changes of the quartz crystal deposited LB films. The usual carbonyl absorbance at 1704 cm$^{-1}C$ was replaced by the split band in the 1540~1590 cm$^{-1}C$. The two absorptions at 1580 cm$^{-1}C$ and 1540 cm$^{-1}C$ were assigned to the antisymmetric stretching vibration of the calcium carboxylate group and the hydrated species due to the lowering carbonyl stretching frequency by hydrogen bonding$^1$ respectively. Besides, it was demonstrated by X-ray diffraction analysis. The swelling behaviour of LB films in water phase at 23$^{\circ}C$ was observed from the frequency change of the LB films deposited quartz crystal with time. Calcium palmitate LB films has been found to swell substantially in water without flaking, whereas hexadecanol LB films hardly swelled in water. Amount of swelling of calcium palmitate LB films was equivalent to 47 wt.${\%}$ of the dry LB films, which means that ca. 7 water molecules were incorporated per calcium palmitate amphiphile. Chemical structure of calcium palmitate LB film was estimated as [CH$_3$(CH$_2$)$_{14}$COO]$_2$Ca${\cdot}$XH$_2$O, and the hydration number was 1.

A Study on the Thermoacoustic Sound Generation by Steep Temperature Gradient (급격한 온도구배에 의한 열음향 발생에 관한 연구)

  • 파이프의 양 끝단에 심한 온도구배가 형성될 때 음향이 발생한다는 사실은 이미 알려진 사실이다. 본 연구는 열구동식 열음향냉동기를 구현하기 위해서 1단계로 열원에 의한 음향발생을 달성하고자 했다. 이를 위해 1/4 파장의 열음향 발생장치를 설계 및 제작하여 실험에 사용하였다. 열음향 발생기는 직경 3cm, 길이 16cm의 공명관에 가열부, 박판집적체, 고온부 및 저온부의 열교환기로 구성되며 발생음의 기본주파수는 520Hz로 설계하였다. 고온부를 38$0^{\circ}C$로 가열한 결과 열음향발생기의 개구부로부터 1m 떨어진 곳에서 최초 음압측정값이 약 112dB, 음향출력으로 약 1와트에 해당하는 값을 얻었다. 박판집적체에 급격한 온도구배가 형성되면서 주변의 기체가 자발적인 진동을 하여 형성된 음향동력중 일부는 공명관 벽에 흡수되고 일부는 열교환기에서 점성에 의해 소산된다. 따라서 실제로 음향으로 변하는 부분은 이들을 감한 부분인데 실험결과 약 53%의 음향 생성효율을 달성했으며 이는 스위프트 등이 얻었던 결과보다 우수하다.
