  • Types of noise barrier installed for noise attenuation are largely divided into noise-absorbing format and noise-proofing format. In these days, installation of transparent noise barrier is general trend to solve problems that hinder sunshine and landscape. Some kinds of transparent boards are used to one of components in noise barriers, but in some cases, less transparency and worse pollution due to yellowing phenomena, and severe material deformation are to harm the urban aesthetics Therefore laminated-tempered glass board in that yellowing phenomena does not occur can be replaced as a transparent one to secure those shortcomings. In this paper, the structural safety against train induced vibration and the resistibility to wind load are analyzed for laminated-tempered glass system as a component of noise barrier installed on Metro railway elevated bridges. Also the appropriateness is evaluated through flexural bending performance test, compressive strength test, modulus of elasticity tests, and impact test for the system or the glass material itself. All of these processes are intended to present the deployment of logic to evaluate the adequacy for the system.

  • This study analytically reviewed the behavior of steel plate concrete (SC) walls subjected to forced vibration to investigate the effects of shape and arrangement spacing of studs on the behavior spacing of studs in SC wall were carried out. From the analyses, it was noted that the damping ratio obtained from the time history analyses showed overall high value in Half-power Bandwidth method and the lowest value in Fitted Exponential Curve method. And, in half of the design strength, the damping ratio presented approximately 3.0~4.2% and, in the design strength, it was approximately 4.1~5.2%. When the developed studs were used, the damping ratio was reduced slightly and it did not show consistent results between DS1 and DS2. When the distance between the studs increases more than necessary, it was also confirmed that the natural frequency was reduced and the damping ratio was increased.

  • In order to evaluate the performance of the floating wave power, which is an axisymmetric oscillating water column type, linearized free surface boundary condition considering the influence of PTO (power takeoff) was derived and a finite element numerical model was established. Numerical experiments were carried out by varying cylinder length, skirt length, and depth of water, which are design parameters that can change the resonance of water column in cylinder and heave resonance of the float, which is considered to affect the power generation efficiency. Finally, the basic data necessary for the optimum design of the power generation system were obtained. As a result, the efficiency of the power generation system is dominated by the heave motion resonance of the float rather than the water column resonance in the cylinder, and the resonance condition for the heave motion can be changed efficiently by attaching the skirt to the outside of the buoy.

  • In this work, we developed a new type ultrasonic dehumidifier with piezoelectric ceramics, which and efficiently repel waterdrops on outdoor glass plates exposed to raindrops. Through finite element analysis of a certain type of glass plates to analyze its dynamic behavior, the structure of the ultrasonic device we determined to get the optimal performance. A supplemental metal plate was attached to the glass plate for uniform cleaning. Based on the theoretical results, experimental samples were fabricated and evaluated with various dimensions of the glass plate and the piezoceramic vibrator. Driving circuit for the dehumidifier made use of the frequency sweeping technique to keep track of the resonant frequency of the glass plate that was variant with environmental conditions.

  • This is a preliminary study for the real-time feedback vibration control of building structures. The study developed a wireless acceleration sensor system based on authentic technology capacities, to integrate with the Prototype AMD system and ultimately construct the feedback vibration control system. These systems were used to evaluate the basic performance levels of the control systems within model building structures. For this purpose, the study first developed a wireless acceleration sensor unit that integrates an MEMS sensor device and bluetooth communication module. Also, the study developed an operating program that enables control output based on real-time acceleration response measurement and control law. Furthermore, the Prototype AMD and motor driver system were constructed to be maneuvered by the AC servo-motor. Eventually, all these compositions were used to evaluate the real-time feedback vibration control system of a 2-story model building, and qualitatively measure the extent of vibrational reduction of the target structure within the laboratory validation tests. As a result of the tests, there was a definite vibrational reduction effect within the laboratory validation tests. As a result of the tests, there was a definite vibrational reduction effect within 1st and 2nd resonance frequency as well as the random frequency of the model building structure. Ultimately, this study confirmed the potential of its wireless acceleration sensor system and AMD system as an effective tool that can be applied to the active vibration control of other structures.

  • The objective of this study is to analyze and evaluate design factors relating to sound reduction performance in dry wall system. The main contents of this study are as follows. 1) Analysis and pre-evaluation of sound reduction performance of drywall system ; The sound reduction performance was pre-evaluated by INSUL simulation and these results of analyzing walls were analyzed by screening DOE(design of experiment) for selecting major factors that dominant influence the sound reduction performance. These main factors relating to sound reduction performance can be used for development of 1st grade sound reduction performance drywall system. 2) Design and evaluation of 1st grade sound reduction performance drywall system; The evaluation test of the sound reduction performance gave vaues higher than 1st grade (Rw+C=64). When campared with existing dry wall system, respectivelly, the new system shows performance higher than 8 dB.
