A Study on Occupational Stress for the Injured Firefighter: Focusing on Gyeongbuk Province (공상 소방공무원의 직무스트레스에 관한 연구 -경북지역을 중심으로-)

  • The aim of the study intends to investigate safety and health of injured firefighter in Gyeongbuk province and to provide the base data for the safety and health of firefighter. The results of the study are as follows. The injured firefighter are under more job stress than general's and the effect factor of stress are "lack of reward", "organizational system", "occupational climate" and "job insecurity". The injured firefighter receive more job stress than the average of korean man about "physical environment" and "occupational climate". The prevalence post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) of injured firefighter using IES-R-K is 75 percent of the surveyed.

  • The issue of this research is to verify the influence of effort that university students putting and employment goal setting regarding employment preparation behavior. And which behavior affects to the employment goal achievement. This research could surely find that it is positive to employment goal setting. But employment goal setting is not enough to get a actual job. So we should manage job counseling program, and methodical subjects which is directly connected to employment. And also we have to enlarge the opportunity to experience actual job to help graduate students to get a job.

The Convergence correlational Study on Office Workers' Health Related Behaviors and Prevalence Rates of Metabolic Syndrome (직장인의 건강관련 행위와 대사증후군 요인별 차이 융합적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to offer evidence that supports effective prevention strategies for people with chronic lifestyle related disease and cardiovascular disease based on understanding relations between health related behaviors and risk factors of metabolic syndrome, to suggest a basic indicator that are related to office workers' chronic lifestyle related disease and to provide basic information for educating people who are diagnosed with chronic lifestyle diseas.Research methods include SPSS / Win Program ver 20.0 utilization analyzes were, variables and relationships to analyze it to F-test verification and ANOVA test conduct was, associations verify the order $x^2$(Chi-square) validation was conducted.Participants of this study are office workers who took medical examination covered by employee health insurance athealth screening centers in the city of Seoul. All 291 participants were explained about the purpose of this study and signed consent forms. The prevalence of metabolic syndrome for 291 participants is 19.2 %. The prevalence of metabolic syndrome for a non-smoker group is 12.7 %, for a group of people who used to smoke lightly is 25.0 %, for a group of people who used to smoke heavily is 25.9 %, for light smokers group is 29.7 % and heavy smoker group is 26.7 %. As results of this convergence study exhibits, there is a strong correlation between smoking and drinking habits, and the prevalence of metabolic syndrome.

Moderating Effect of Organization Performance Recognition on the Relationship between Job Value and Organization Value of Hospital Employees (병원종사자들의 직무가치와 직장가치 인식 간의 관계에 조직성과 자각상태의 조절효과)

  • This study aims to provide suggestions for effective human resource management at the organization level, by considering the psychological and behavioral attributes of hospital employees. Employees at 4 general hospitals, 5 hospitals, 7 convalescent hospitals, and 7 psychiatric hospitals were surveyed. A three-step model adjustment return analysis was performed using mean centering methods to the moderating effect of organizational performance recognition, for analyzing the relationship between job value and organization value. Assessing the relationship between job value and organization value revealed that awareness of customer response effort and awareness of hospital image has a moderating effect amongst hospital nurses. Considering the administrative employees of hospitals, awareness of customer response effort had negative moderating effect, whereas awareness of hospital image had positive moderating effect. In nurses of convalescent hospitals, awareness of customer response effort had positive moderating effect, but awareness of growth and competitiveness, and awareness of hospital image, had negative moderating effect. Taken together, our results indicate that depending on the hospital type and occupation, the effect of adjustment of organizational performance recognition when considering the relationship between job value and recognition of organization value by hospital employees, is varied.

The Effect of Perceived Similarity on Leader-member Exchange and Deviant Workplace Behavior (비교이론이 리더-구성원 교환이론과 직장 내 일탈행위에 미치는 영향)

  • Using a sample of two-hundred thirty-eight employees in the service industry, this study examined the relationships between perceived similarity, leader-member exchange (LMX), envy, and deviant workplace behavior (DWB) drawing on social comparison theory. Specifically, the current study predicts that an individual who perceives similarity to co-workers whose LMX is higher is more likely to report lower levels of LMX by focusing on upward social comparison. In addition, the study examines the moderating effect of envy in the relationship between perceived similarity and LMX. The results of the study supported the hypotheses, implying that, first, envious feelings coming from lower levels of LMX positively predict DWB. Second, employee envy moderated the relationship between perceived similarity and LMX such that envious people who report being similar to their colleagues also report lower levels of LMX with their supervisors. This means that employees who reported lower levels of LMX with their supervisors, reported committing more DWB than their counterparts. Finally, LMX mediates the relationship between perceived similarity and DWB, indicating that individuals who view themselves similarly to their colleagues report lower levels of LMX with their supervisors and in turn commit more DWB. We believe that it highlights the need for employees to feel special in order to have unique attention by, and relationships with their supervisors. These results have implications and suggest the need for the further study of employee's negative emotions, LMX theory, and DWB.

The Effects of a Smoking Cessation Program on Stress and Emotional Status of the Korean Male Office Workers (직장 남성의 스트레스 및 정서 상태에 따른 금연프로그램의 효과 분석)

  • This study examined the effects of a non-smoking program according to the stress and emotional condition of male office workers. As research subjects, 106 smokers at C company who participated in the campaign of "No Second-Hand Smoking and No Cigarette Smoke at Work" from April 25, 2011 to December, 2011 for 8 months were enrolled in this study. Apreliminary survey of the general characteristics, motivation to quit smoking, emotional condition, behavior to cope with stress, stress in life, hope, and the emotional variables of job satisfaction in the research subjects was carried out. The study undertook a pre-and-post effect analysis of the non-smoking program only with those who succeeded in quitting smoking. In terms of the general characteristics of the subjects, the success rate of quitting smoking was higher in those in their thirties and above and those who were married. No significant difference in the emotional variables was observed between those who were not successful and those who were. These results suggest that the motives for stopping smoking and effective dealing with stress or anxiety is important for male office workers to succeed in stopping smoking, based on which smoking cessation programs should be developed. In addition, the message of a smoking cessation campaign should be designed specifically for each target audience, effectively emphasizing the emotional aspects of each target group.

The Effect of Job Competencies Education in First Job Satisfaction (대학생의 직무능력 향상 교육이 첫직장 만족에 미치는 영향)

  • This study analyzed the direct and indirect effects of job competency education on job goal setting, job preparation behavior and first job satisfaction from the perspective that successful employment requires improving the job ability needed for college students. Data on 5,044 students were analyzed based on the 2013GOMS of Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey(GOMS). The study findings are summarized as follows. First, job competency education not only acted positively on job goal setting but also contributed to promoting job preparation behavior. Second, job preparation behavior contributed to improving satisfaction with the first job. Third, indirect effects of job competency education and job goal setting in first job satisfaction. In conclusion, job competencies enhances the possibility that college students may obtain their wanted job by setting a clear goal for their job and having a positive effect on the required behavior. Accordingly, college student should try to reinforce their special capability to accomplish the given job as career professionals in consideration of their aptitude rather than devoting themselves to reinforcing their basic capability such as linguistic ability. For this purpose, both universities and the government should develop educational programs for college students to grasp their aptitude and cultivate their special ability to become career professionals and provide a foundation for them to become talented professionals armed with special capability by proving support for job ability improvement.

Effects of Mobile based-Healthcare Service for Hypertension Patients (고혈압 환자 대상의 모바일 헬스케어서비스 운영 효과)

  • This study aims to evaluate the effect of mobile healthcare service which was provided to employees diagnosed with hypertension in employee's health checkup. The study subjects were 146 employees and nurse measured their blood pressure, body mass index, and blood tests at the clinic in a workplace. The general characteristics of the participants were analyzed using descriptive statistics. After providing health care service using mobile text message for 8 weeks, blood test and blood pressure was measured. As a result, it was confirmed that blood pressure(SBP: 139.32±10.38 → 133.96±11.31, DBP: 98.13±6.21 → 94.28±8.56) and blood test(HDL: 47.90±9.79 → 51.40±9.79, HbA1C: 5.96±.66 → 5.65±.71) were more significantly reduced in 56 employees with a systolic blood pressure of 140 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure of 90 mmHg or more. It was confirmed that the program for self-management of blood pressure by receiving text messages on a mobile basis was effective. It is expected that the results of this study will be used as basic data for healthcare services that provide text information using mobile to improve drug usage, physical exercise, and eating habits.

Analysis of Body Mass Index on Set Up Errors Rectal Cancer in Radiotherapy (방사선치료 시 체질량지수와 직장암 환자의 자세 오차 분석)

  • To study the positioning error according to the use of belly board and body mass index (BMI) for rectal cancer radiotherapy, a retrospective study was conducted on 114 patients from January 2012 to March 2013. The median age of the patients was 58 (29-83 years), mean BMI was $23.35kg/m^2$ ($16.55-31.15kg/m^2$), 31 patients used belly board and 83 did not use belly board. There were a total of 527 AP & LAT images of treatment (EPID), and the mean and standard deviation of each X, Y, Z axis were $1.66{\pm}1.55mm$, $1.64{\pm}1.56mm$, and $1.99{\pm}1.75mm$, respectively. Based on the BMI of 24 or higher, error occurrence risk of higher or equal to 2mm on Z axis was 4.8 times higher compared to BMI of 24 or lower (p<0.001), and when BMI was 24 or higher in case the belly board was not used, the error occurrence risk of higher or equal to 2mm on the z-axis was 3.6 times higher (p<0.011). Radiation therapy for rectal cancer patients, using Belly Board for both the ones wearing fistula and with high BMI may be effective in decreasing the positioning errors.
