The probability of lethality of personnel targets inside a room is a key issue at assessing effectiveness of a weapon system. In this study, the minimum charge weight to achieve 100% lethality of personnel targets inside a box-type room is proposed at each side length of a base of a room. A fast running blast wave model is used to simulate the pressure-time histories of the blast generated by an internal explosion inside a room, and Axelsson SP method is used to evaluate the lethality of personnel targets under the blast. 176 different internal explosion scenarios are simulated for cases of TNT weights ranging from 20kg to 170kg inside a room whose square base has a side length ranging from 5m to 15m. A linear model and a charge-density model were developed to predict the minimum charge weight to achieve 100% lethality inside a room given a length of a base of a room.
Because solar panels of normal satellites are faced to the sun, the power generation by the Earth Albedo is almost neglected in satellite's power analysis. However, many cubesats don't have deployable solar panels and in this case the Earth Albedo is not negligible because solar panels are in six sides facing different directions. In this paper, we calculated satellite's power generation by the Earth Albedo. We divided the Earth's surface into grids based on polar coordinate system. We modeled power generation in each solar cell by reflection on these grids. We simulated 1 U cubesat which flies in sun synchronous orbit and 500 km altitude so that we calculated satellite's power generation by the Earth Albedo.

This study proposes an automated tilt measurement method using point cloud for buildings. The proposed method consists of two main steps: 1) exterior wall plane extraction, and 2) edge estimation and angle calculation. To validate the performance of the proposed method, the algorithm is applied to a target building, of which the estimated tilt values are compared with those obtained from a total station, a commonly used tool for tilt measurement. The result shows that most estimated tilt values are within the maximum and minimum ranges of the total station measurement, suggesting that the proposed algorithm provides sufficient measurement accuracy. Furthermore, the proposed method is shown to be automated and reliable as well as free from human-induced errors compared to the total station.
Purpose: The purposes of this study was to evaluates shear bond strength between zirconia core and veneer-ceramic in order to examine the clinical practice of colored zirconia block fabricated by infiltration method into the metal chloride solution. Material and methods: CNU block and $Everest{(R)}$ ZS blank were used. VITA In-$Ceram{(R)}$2000 YZ Coloring liquid (LL1) and 3 aqueous metal chloride solutions containing chromium and molybdenum ingredients were used. 40 zirconia specimens were prepared into cuboid shape ($5{\times}5{\times}10 mm$). All specimens were divided into 5 groups by infiltrating into the coloring liquids. After that, porcelain was build up into the shape of $5{\times}5{\times}4mm^3$, followed by sintering. The maximum loading and shear bond strength was measured. Failure patterns and failure sites were examined. Results: 1. There were no statistical differences in shear bond strength between zirconia blocks (P > .05). 2. There were no statistically significant differences in shear bond strength between non-colored and colored zirconia blocks, while shear bond strength of non-colored zirconia blocks is higher than that of colored specimen (P > .05). 3. In the comparison with shear bond strength among colored zirconia blocks, there were no statistical differences according to kinds of coloring liquid (P > .05). 4. Mixed failure patterns were mainly observed in the failure between zirconia and veneering ceramic. The veneering ceramic failure of all specimens was observed in either interface of zirconia or veneering ceramic. Conclusion: Shear bond strength between colored zirconia and veneering ceramic shows lower tendency than non-colored zirconia, but there was clinically allowable value.

Purpose: This study aims at investigating the influence of various insertion torques on thermal changes of bone. A proper insertion torque is derived based on the thermal analysis with two different implant designs. Materials and methods: For implant materials, bovine scapula bone of 15 - 20 mm thickness was cut into 35 mm by 40 - 50 mm pieces. Of these, the pieces having 2 - 3 mm thickness cortical bone were used as samples. Then, the half of the sample was immersed in a bath of $36.5^{\circ}C$ and the other half was exposed to ambient temperature of $25^{\circ}C$, so that the inner and surface temperatures reached $36.5^{\circ}C$ and $28^{\circ}C$, respectively. Two types of implants ($4.5{\times}10\;mm$ Br${\aa}$nemark type, $4.8{\times}10\;mm$ Microthread type) were inserted into bovine scapula bone and the temperature was measured by a thermocouple at 0.2 mm from the measuring point. Finite element method (FEM) was used to analyze the thermal changes at contacting surface assuming that the sample is a cube of $4\;cm{\times}4\;cm{\times}2\;cm$ and a layer up to 2 mm from the top is cortical bone and below is a cancellous bone. Boundary conditions were set on the basis of the shape of cavity after implants. SolidWorks was used as a CAD program with the help of Abaqus 6.9-1. Results: In the in-vitro experiment, the Microhead type implant gives a higher maximum temperature than that of the Br${\aa}$nemark type, which is attributed to high frictional heat that is associated with the implant shape. In both types, an Eriksson threshold was observed at torques of 50 Ncm (Br${\aa}$nemark) and 35 Ncm (Microthread type), respectively. Based on these findings, the Microthread type implant is more affected by insertion torques. Conclusion: This study demonstrate that a proper choice of insertion torque is important when using a specific type of implant. In particular, for the Microthread type implant, possible bone damage may be expected as a result of frictional heat, which compensates for initial high success rate of fixation. Therefore, the insertion torque should be adjusted for each implant design. Furthermore, the operation skills should be carefully chosen for each implant type and insertion torque.

Spent filter wastes of about 1,000 units (200 L) have been stored in the waste storage facility of the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute since its operation. At the moment, to secure space in a waste storage facility as well as to efficiently manage spent filter wastes, it is necessary to conduct a compaction treatment of these spent filters, and finally, to repack the compacted spent filters into a 200 liter drum. To do that, the spent filter wastes were first classified according to their generation facilities, their generation date and their surface dose rate by investigating the inventory of the spent filters. In order to repack a compacted spent filter in a 200 liter drum, it is first necessary to conduct a radionuclide assessment of a spent filter before compacting it. Therefore, after taking a representative sample from a spent filter without a dismantlement, the nuclide analysis for it will be conducted. And then, after putting a spent filter into a regular drum by conducting the columnar shaping of the hexahedral form of a spent filter, the compaction treatment of the shaped spent filter will be conducted by vertically compacting it.

The objective of this study is to analyze the effects 6th grade mathematics lessons applying story making have on the mathematics achievement and attitude toward mathematics. For this study, using two examination devices for measuring mathematical attitudes and mathematics learning achievement, a pre-test and post-test were conducted. In the pre-test, it was found that the two groups are identical groups. The post-test was used for verifying the research problems and the results of post-test were analyzed using t-test. The findings of this study are below. First, lessons applying story making influenced the mathematics achievement of children. This implies that lessons applying story making are more effective for improving a mathematics achievement than a general teaching and learning method. Also, when carrying out the t-test of pre-test and post-test results of learning achievement in experimental groups, there was a significant change as well. It is therefore supposed that lessons applying story making have positive effect on the mathematics achievement of children. The high resolution of positron emission tomography, in particular, requires the use of detector crystals of narrow width but still with sufficiently high detection efficiency. If the crystal width is reduced to several millimeters, degradation of detection efficiency and leakage coefficient becomes significant, particularly in case of obliquely incident photons. Alleviation of such a problem can be made possible by modification of the detector shape from the conventional rectangular type to a wed농e type. The Proposed wedge shape makes the absorption length longer for obliquely incident photons, thus increasing the detection efficiency and suppressing leakage coefficient. For the BGO detectors of 4-8mm width, the computer simulation result of the system using wedge detectors reveals resolution improvement to the system using conventional detectors. For the system composed of 200 BGO detectors of 8mm width with 2 point sampling motion, the simulation resolution system using conventional detectors. For the very high resolution system of 3-7mm FWHM, the characteristics of the detector shape and size is studied by computer simulation.
Objective: To estimate the effects of bracket material type on enamel decalcification during orthodontic treatment, this study analyzed the adhesion level of mutans streptococci (MS) to orthodontic bracket materials in vivo. Methods: Three different types of orthodontic bracket materials were used: stainless steel, monocrystalline sapphire, and polycrystalline alumina. A balanced complete block design was used to exclude the effect of positional variation of bracket materials in the oral cavity. Three types of plastic individual trays were made and one subject placed the tray in the mouth for 12 hours. Then, the attached bacteria were isolated and incubated on a mitis salivarius media containing bacitracin for 48 hours. Finally, the number of colony forming units of MS was counted. The experiments were independently performed 5 times with each of the 3 trays, resulting in a total of 15 times. Mixed model ANOVA was used to compare the adhesion amount of MS. Results: There was no difference in colony forming units among the bracket materials irrespective of jaw and tooth position. Conclusions: This study suggested that the result of quantitative analysis of MS adhesion to various orthodontic bracket materials in vivo may differ from that of the condition in vitro.
The goal of a radiation treatment plan is to deliver a homogeneous dose to a target with minimal irradiation of the adjacent normal tissues. Dose uniformity is especially important for stereotactic radiosurgery using a linear accelerator. The dose uniformity and high dose delivery of a single spherical dose distribution exceed 70%. This also results with a similar stereotactic radiosurgical plan using a Gamma Knife. The dose distribution produced in a stereotactic radiosurgical plan using a Gamma Knife and Linear accelerator is spherical, and the application of the sphere packing arrangement in a real radiosurgical plan requires much time and skill. In this study, we found a characteristic of dose distribution with transformation of beam parameters that must be considered in a radiosurgical plan for effective radiosurgery. First, we assumed a cylinder type tumor model and a cube type tumor model. Secondly, the results of the tumor models were compared and analyzed with dose profiles and DVH_(Dose Volume Histogram) representative dose distribution. We found the optimal composition of beam parameters_(i.e. collimator size, number of isocenter, gap of isocenters etc.), which allowed the tumor models to be involved in the isodose curve at a high level. In conclusion, the characteristics found in this study are helpful for improving the effectiveness and speed of a radiosurgical plan for stereotactic radiosurgery.
