Numerical Analysis of the Ocean Tidal Current Considering Sea Bottom Topography (해저지형을 고려한 조류유동의 수치해석)

  • A multi-layer simulation program is developed to estimate the ocean current considering sea bottom geometry. The so-called $\sigma$ coordinate system is introduced in vertical direction to describe sea bottom topography more accurately and effectively. Leapfrog scheme combined with Euler backward scheme is used to reduce computation error which may be possibly accumulated in time evolution by Leapfrog scheme alone. In this paper, very simple examples of rectangular basins with various bottom geometries were taken and the effect of sea bottom geometry on vertical structure of the ocean tidal current and its direction were investigated. Through comparisons between the present three dimensional calculation in which bottom topography is directly taken into consideration and the two dimensional calculation in which depth average concept is employed, it was found that magnitude of surface current and its direction could be largely affected by the sea bottom topography, particularly in shallow region with complex bottom shape.

  • This study is focused on the investigation of the modal characteristics of the preliminary models of science technology satellite-3 (STSAT-3). Prior to the final decision of the composite structure model, several candidate structure models have been developed so as to find the most qualified structures with respect to the satellite structure systems' requirements and then utilize the information achieved to a real design. The main structure is composed of fiber reinforced composite faced honeycomb sandwich panel whose modal characteristics are found and compared to each other by means of finite element numerical analyses. Results from the current study demonstrate that a rectangular box shape having supporting inner panel shows relatively higher fundamental mode frequencies than octagonal box shape and etc., and regardless of the structure model shape tested herein, the fundamental mode turns out lateral bending mode.

  • Visibility preprocessing is a useful method to reduce the complexity of scenes to be processed in real-time, and so enhances the overall rendering performance for interactive visualization of virtual environments. In this paper, we propose an efficient visibility preprocessing method. In the proposed method, we assume that navigatable areas in virtual environments are partitioned into rectangular parallelpiped cells or sub-worlds. To preprocess the visibility of each polygon for a given partitioned cell, we should determine at least the area-to-area visibility. This is inherently a four-dimensional problem. We efficiently express four-dimensional visibility information on two-dimensional spaces and keep it within a ternary tree, which is conceptually similar to a BSP(Binary Space Partitioning) tree, by exploiting the characteristics of conservative visibility. The proposed method is able to efficiently handle more general environments like urban scenes, and remove invisible polygons jointly blocked by multiple occluders. The proposed method requires O(nm) time and O(n+m) space. By selecting a suitable value for m, users can select a suitable level of trade-off between the preprocessing time and the quality of the computational result.

A Study on the Transition of Hydrogen-Air and LPG-Air Explosion to Fire (수소와 액화석유 가스의 공기혼합기의 폭발 후 화재로 전이 연구)

  • Gas explosion characteristics of hydrogen and liquefied petroleum gas(LPG) were measured in 6L cylindrical vessel, and experiment for explosion to fire transition phenomena of the gases were carried out using the 270L vessel. Explosion characteristics were measured using the stain type pressure transducer and explosion to fire transition phenomena was analyzed with the hish-speed camera. Base on the experiment, it was found that explosion pressure was most high slightly above the stoichiometric concentration, and explosion pressure rise rate and flame propagation velocity were proportional to the combustion velocity. And we find that those kind of explosion characteristics affect the explosion-to-fire transition, in addition, explosion flame temperature, flame residence time, are important parameters in explosion-to-fire transition.

Vehicle Detection Method Based on Object-Based Point Cloud Analysis Using Vertical Elevation Data (OBPCA 기반의 수직단면 이용 차량 추출 기법)

  • Among various vehicle extraction techniques, OBPCA (Object-Based Point Cloud Analysis) calculates features quickly by coarse-grained rectangles from top-view of the vehicle candidates. However, it uses only a top-view rectangle to detect a vehicle. Thus, it is hard to extract rectangular objects with similar size. For this reason, accuracy issue has raised on the OBPCA method which influences on DEM generation and traffic monitoring tasks. In this paper, we propose a novel method which uses the most distinguishing vertical elevations to calculate additional features. Our proposed method uses same features with top-view, determines new thresholds, and decides whether the candidate is vehicle or not. We compared the accuracy and execution time between original OBPCA and the proposed one. The experiment result shows that our method produces 6.61% increase of precision and 13.96% decrease of false positive rate despite with marginal increase of execution time. We can see that the proposed method can reduce misclassification.

  • 현재 국내에서 PSC 거더의 제작은 주로 포스트텐션방식을 사용하고 있다. 포스트텐션방식은 콘크리트 양생 후 긴장력을 도입하여 제작회전율이 높은 특성을 가지나 쉬스, 그라우팅, 정착장치 등이 요구되어 조립과정이 복잡하고 제작단가가 높다. 교량에 적용되는 PSC 거더를 포스트텐션방식 대신에 프리텐션방식으로 제작한다면 제작단가를 대폭 감소시킬 수 있을 것이나, 교량용 PSC 거더의 길이가 일반적으로 30~50m이므로 공장에서 제작하여 현장으로 운반하는 것은 운반비용의 상승 및 운반 가능한 크기의 제한을 받게 된다. 운반의 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 현장에서 PSC 거더를 제작하여야 하는데 현장에 긴장대를 고정식으로 설치하는 것은 제작단가의 상승으로 이어져 경제성을 잃게 된다. 따라서 현장에서 사용할 수 있도록 이동식 긴장대를 제작한다면 경제성을 갖춘 프리텐션방식의 PSC 거더 생산이 가능할 것이다. 50m급 이동식 긴장대에는 약 10MN에 이르는 매우 큰 긴장력이 가해져 이동식 긴장대가 콘크리트 양생전까지 이 긴장력을 저항하여야 한다. 본 논문에서는 유한요소 해석프로그램인 ABAQUS를 사용하여 50m급 PSC 거더를 생산할 수 있는 이동식 긴장대를 모델링하여 약 10MN에 이르는 긴장력이 가해질 때에 이동식 긴장대의 각 구성요소의 거동특성 및 하중에 대한 안전성 및 좌굴에 대한 안정성 확보 여부를 해석적으로 파악하고자 한다. 이동식 긴장대는 구성요소인 정착블럭(긴장BOX)과 중간연결블럭으로 나누어 모델링하였다. 정착블럭(긴장BOX)은 다수의 강판을 4절점 쉘요소(S4R)를 사용하여 직육면체의 BOX 형상에 내부를 보강한 단면으로 구성하였고, 중간연결블럭은 H형강 2개를 일체화한 긴장대 거더와 콘크리트 바닥판 블록이 볼트로 합성된 구조이며, H형강은 4절점 쉘요소(S4R), 바닥판블럭은 8절점솔리드요소(C3D8R)를 사용하였다. 긴장대거더와 바닥판블럭은 합성거동을 하도록 weld option을 사용하여 부분적으로 결합하였다. 정적해석결과 이동식 긴장대에 발생하는 응력은 도로교 설계기준에 SS400 강재의 허용응력 140MPa 보다 작으며 선형탄성좌굴 해석결과 가력하중의 2.22배 약 21MN의 하중이 가력되어야 전체좌굴이 발생하게 될 것으로 추정된다. 해석결과를 보아 50m급 PSC 거더를 생산할 수 있는 이동식 긴장대는 하중에 대한 안전성 및 좌굴에 대한 안정성을 확보하고 있는 것으로 판단된다.

Efficient Vibration Analysis of a Biaxial Hollow Slab Having Hexahedron Balls with Rounded Corner (모서리가 둥근 직육면체 중공볼을 가지는 2방향 중공슬래브의 효율적인 진동해석)

  • In this study, an equivalent plate element model has been developed for an efficient vibration analysis of a biaxial hollow slab. To this end, equivalent mass and stiffness of equivalent plate element models corresponding to solid element models of example biaxial hollow slabs were calculated. To verify the efficiency and accuracy of the equivalent plate element models, structural analyses of example structures were performed. Analytical results showed that the natural frequencies of the equivalent plate element models were very close to those of the solid element models. Time history analyses of example biaxial hollow slabs subjected to walking load were conducted using the equivalent plate element models and the solid element models, and the results were compared. It could be seen based on the analytical results that the equivalent plate element model could provide very accurate results compared to the solid element model with significantly reduced analysis time.

Feasibility Study for the Development of a Device for Pathological Tissue (병리학적 조직 진단장치 개발에 대한 타당성 분석 연구)

  • In this paper, a new method for detecting breast cancer is proposed, which utilizes dielectric characteristics of pathological tissues and time delay of back scattered response, and its feasibility was investigated. We have developed a detection algorithm and verified it by numerical simulation and measurement for a prototype system. For a prototype system, we have fabricated experimental model(artificial breast with a cancer) and UWB(ultra-wideband) antenna. The results of the measurement simulation show an excellent detection capability of a cancer tissue. It is found that a good UWB antenna and a good calibration signal are key elements of such detection system. Further study is ongoing to develop a commercial system.

Experimental Study on Surface Temperature Variation Characteristics of Rectangular Parallelepipeds Constructed by Different Materials for Varying Meteorological Conditions (기상 상태 변화에 따른 직육면체의 재질별 표면온도 변화 특성에 대한 실험 연구)

  • The spectral radiance received by a remote sensor is consisted of the self-emitted component directly from the target surface, the reflected component of the solar irradiance at the target surface, and the scattered component by the atmosphere without ever reaching the object surface. In general, the self-emitted component is the most important part in the infrared signatures from the target. We measured the solar irradiation, sky irradiation, air temperature, wind velocity, wind direction, relative humidity, and atmospheric pressure together with the surface temperatures of rectangular parallelepiped targets. The measured diurnal surface temperature variations on the three different rectangular parallelepiped targets constructed by the steel, aluminum and bakelite are obtained at the same time intervals. The measured surface temperature results show that the top surface temperature of bakelite recorded up tp $7.6^{\circ}C$ higher than that of aluminium and $6.1^{\circ}C$ higher than that of steel at 11 AM on the sunny condition. A complete set of measured data including the surface temperature of rectangular parallelepiped targets together with the detailed weather information can be a valuable reference for future study.

  • 경사가 급한 산지하천은 대부분 전석이 산재한 자갈하상으로 되어 있다. 전석은 계곡이나 사면에서 발생한 토석류의 일부로 하천에 유입하여 하류로 이송되는 중에 하상에 퇴적된다. 이후 발생하는 홍수에 따라서 거대 전석은 단속적 이동하기 때문에 하천 흐름을 방해하는 돌출장애물로서 기능하는 경우가 많다. 본 연구에서는 개수로 흐름의 장애를 유발하는 돌출물이 경계층 높이에 어떤 영향을 미치는 지를 파악하기 위하여 장애물 돌출높이의 변화가 경계층고에 미치는 영향을 수리실험으로 조사하였다. 본 연구인 경계층분포 실험은 폭 0.6m, 길이 9m인 순환식 유량공급 개수로에서 진행하였으며 실제 경계층 측정 길이는 폭 0.6m, 최대 길이 1.2m, 수심 0.2m이다. 개수로에 돌출장애물을 부착 후 3차원 유속계를 이용하여 유속을 측정하였다. 유속계의 측정간격은 수로 방향, 폭 방향, 수심방향으로 각각 1cm씩 이동하며 유속 u, v, w를 측정하였으며 이때 흐름의 평균유속은 0.51m/s이다. 실험에 사용된 돌출 장애물의 크기는 가로와 세로는 6cm, 길이 6~10cm인 직육면체 콘크리트이다. 포설된 하상재료의 평균입경은 20.5mm의 강자갈이며 포설된 높이는 평균 20.5mm이다. 실험방법은 개수로 바닥에 돌출장애물을 부착 후 그 하류에서 수심, 유량, 유속, 수온을 측정한다. 또한 하상재료를 포설하고 위와 같은 방법으로 실험을 진행 후 결과를 비교, 분석한다. 본 연구는 결과를 정리하면, 동일한 높이의 돌출장애물이 있을 경우 개수로 유속분포는 자갈하상에서 기울기가 더 급하였다. 돌출 장애물에서 하류로 갈수록 무차원 경계층 두께는 감소하는 경향을 보였으나 자갈하상인 경우에는 진동을 나타내고 있어서 하상의 조도가 경계층 안정에 영향을 미치는 것으로 판단된다. 따라서 자갈하상과 같이 하상의 조도고가 클 때 경계층 변화에 미치는 기구를 파악하는 연구가 필요하다.
