  • The use of smartphone improves convenience and efficiency in modern people's lives but threatens the mental health of individuals by manifesting an addiction phenomenon that is difficult for everyday life without a smartphone. In particular, it is suggested that the effects of the smartphone addiction of firefighters who have a high level of job stress due to work environment exposed to disaster and fire have a very negative effect on their personal well-being and job performance. Therefore, the analysis of the relationship between firefighters' smartphone addiction and stress will be helpful in examining the problems of stress management. This study analyzed the relationship and influence between smartphone addiction and stress of firefighters. Total study subjects were 230 and SPSS 20.0 was used. Statistical methods are group analysis (t-test and ANOVA) and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study show that firefighters' household type and monthly income have a significant effect on stress. Of the sub-factors of smartphone addiction, withdrawal experience has a statistically significant effect on stress. The results of the study will provide empirical data on the smartphone addiction of fire service employees.

  • This study examined the burnout intermediates between Fire officials' job stress and Ego-resilience. The objective of this study is to suggest a policy that improves Fire officials' Ego-resilience. This survey was given to 365 fire officials in northern Gyeonggi-do region and the data was analyzed by correlation analysis and regression analysis using SPPS 22.0. The hypothesis is the Fire officials' burnout would be related to Ego-resilience and the effect on Fire officials' job stress regarding Ego-resilience is associated with burnout. The results of the study are that unstable work and inadequate reward affect the measure of burnout, which manifests as sarcasm and job efficacy and reduces the Fire officials' Ego-resilience that results in a positive pointing of the future, emotion control and interest. The meaning of policy is as follows: First, Fire officials need to be given confidence in their work stability. Second, they have to receive social or financial rewards. Third, they require a continuous supporting policy that solves their tension, physical and mental fatigue. Finally, developing diverse educational programs will be needed to promote their Ego-resilience.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the factors affecting nursing practice of clinical nurses in the COVID-19 situation and provide basic data that could improve nursing practice in the pandemic situation. For this descriptive research, a survey was conducted to collect data from 119 clinical nurses in G City for six weeks from June 15 to July 20, 2022. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression were used. The results showed that infection control practice (r=.428, p<.001) and resilience (r=.324, p<.001) were statistically significantly correlated with nursing practice. As a factor affecting nursing practice of clinical nurses, infection control practice (B=.529, p<.001) had an explanatory power of 18.3%. This result is thought to be due to the fact that COVID-19 infection control acted as a new burden on nursing work in the COVID-19 pandemic, and recovery elasticity and job stress did not have an influence. It is however necessary to help clinical nurses relieve job stress and perform high-quality nursing through regular counseling for clinical nurses suffering severe job stress.

  • This study has an objective to analyze the causal relationship between the emotional labor of the members in the private security firms and its effect on their job stress and validity of the organization. To carry out the study, I established a population of private security guards working at the security firms in Seoul. Then a total of 700 question naires were sent out for the survey using the random sampling method of clusters. The study was carried out over about four months, from May, 2014 to September, 2014. A total of 676 questionnaires were used for the final data. 24 questionnaires were excluded either because they were not returned or contained extreme value. In this study, a statistical package of SPSSWIN 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 were used in the data analysis and the causal relationship was verified using the covariance structural equation. The analysis showed the emotional labor to have a positive effect on the validity of organization but a negative effect on the job stress at the statistical level of p<.001 and the hypothesis was adopted. The hypothesis regarding the job stress was also adopted because job stress was found to have a negative effect on the validity of organization at the statistical level of p<.001. In addition, job stress was found to have a negative effect on the relationship between the emotional labor and validity of organization at the statistical level of p<.001. As a result, the hypothesis about the job stress would function as the parameter was only partially adopted.

  • This study is a descriptive research for understanding the health behaviors, job stress, and musculoskeletal subjective symptoms of university employees, and also for examining the influence factors having effects on the musculoskeletal subjective symptoms. Targeting total 158 university employees, the data was collected from July to August 2020. In the results of this study, the characteristics related to health behaviors showed the percentages like the rate of drinking(68.6%), rate of smokers(9.6%), rate of exercising three times or more a week(15.4%), and the rate of regular eating habit(64.7%). The mean score of job stress was 63.7. The musculoskeletal disease symptom group falling under the occupational musculoskeletal subjective symptom standard of NIOSH was 18.6%, and the musculoskeletal subjective symptom of shoulders showed the highest rate. Also, the 29.5% of research subjects responded that the cause for their musculoskeletal pain was work. As the factors having effects on the musculoskeletal subjective symptoms, the sex, age, career experience, and job stress had significant effects on the subjective symptom of shoulder part(p<.01) while the regular exercise had significant effects on the subjective symptom of waist(p<.05). The educational background and regular meals had significant effects on the subjective symptom of legs and knees(p<.05). Thus, in order to prevent the musculoskeletal diseases of university employees, it would be necessary to develop/apply the programs for the relief of job stress, regular exercise, and regular meals.

  • In this study, customer service representatives in call centers, the relevance of occupational stress, and turnover intention as well as the investigation of the relevance to that of demographic characteristics, health behaviors, and job-related characteristics is carried out. In particular, the relevance of occupational stress and turnover intention was attempted to be identified. From the response to the surveys of nine hospitals and five companies, there was a total of 158 people during the investigation. The collection of data was conducted by self-administered questionnaire in the period of February 1, 2013 to June 30, 2013. As the result of study, factors related to turnover intention involved age, sleep, job demands and job autonomy as significant variables. In particular, in the relevance of occupational stress and turnover intention, it was revealed that turnover intention decreases as job autonomy increases while turnover intention increases as job demands become higher. The ratio of danger of occupational stress on turnover intention eminently increased in the group of high job demands, low job autonomy, low support of supervisor and co-worker. Therefore, it is considered that efforts for improvement of occupational stress factors are required to decrease turnover intention.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of emotional labor on job stress using emotional dissonance as a mediator. Emotional labor is classified into the deep acting and the surface acting, and job stress is classified into sub - variables of the lack of reward and the relationship conflict. We conducted an empirical analysis of 400 questionnaires collected mainly from actors living in Seoul and Gyeonggi provinces. The results of the analysis using SPSS v22.0 and Process macro v3.0 showed that only the surface acting had a significant effect on the lack of reward, and both the deep acting and the surface acting had significant effects on relationship conflict. Second, only the surface acting had a significant effect on emotional dissonance. Third, it has been shown that emotional dissonance has a significant positive effect on both the lack of reward and the relationship conflict. Fourth, the indirect effect of the surface acting on the job stress through mediating emotional dissonance was significant. Subsequent studies will likely require studies to find other mediators other than emotional dissonance or to analyze moderated mediation effect by introducing moderators.

  • This study attempted to determine the effects of job stress, nursing problem-solving ability, nursing work performance, and job stress and nursing problem-solving ability on nursing work performance according to the MBTI type of nurses. The study subjects were 141 nurses working at a medical institution in G Province, and data collection was conducted from March 01 to March 31, 2024. The collected data were analyzed using correlation and multiple regression analysis. Among the psychological function types of MBTI, the SF type (sympathetic and friendly type) was the most common, and among the psychological temperament types, the SP type (sensuous and open type) was the most common. Nursing work performance had a negative correlation with job resource stress, a positive correlation with nursing problem-solving ability, and a positive correlation with problem recognition, information collection, planning ability, and evaluation. The variable that had a significant impact on nursing work performance was job resources, and problem recognition, a subfactor of nursing problem-solving ability, was found to be the best predictor of nursing work performance, followed by planning ability. The explanatory power was 17.8%. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data to develop efficient nursing management guidelines by not only improving understanding of the personality of nurses but also investigating factors related to nurses' work performance. Through the development of programs and measures to improve nursing performance, it is necessary to revitalize programs, provide educational opportunities, and provide institutional support from hospital organizations to enable high-quality nursing care through skilled nursing work.
