Analysis of paper map images for acquiring 3D terrain data (3차원 지형 자료 획득을 위한 지도 영상 분석)

  • One of the major problems in GIS(Geographical Information Systems) involves acquiring 3-D terrain data. Because conventional methods such as land surveying or analysis of aerial photographs are costly, the method of using existing paper maps has been gaining considerable attention. This method demands three processing steps: 1) extraction of contours, 2) assignment of height values to the extracted contours, 3) reconstruction of 3-D terrain data. In this paper we systematically develop a procedure for acquiring 3-D terrain data from contour solutions. For the first two steps, we describe the necessary operations and roughly sketch solutions. For the last step, we propose an efficient raster-based algorithm and present the results of experiments with existing paper map images.

  • A Synthetic unit hydrograph method was suggested for the representation of a direct runoff hydrograph with empirical geomorphologic laws and geomorphologic parameters by applying geomorphologic instantaneous unit hydrograph theory and Rossois results of application of GIUH theory to the Nash Model which is a linear reservoir model. The shape parameter m and scale parameter k can be derived by the Horton's empirical geomorphologic laws $R_A,R_B,R_L$ when ordered according to Strahler's ordering Scheme, main stream length and using the maximum velocity for the dynamic characteristics of a river basin, The derived response function was tested on some observed flood datas and showed promising. For the determination of the shape parameter m, eq. (16) was showed applying and m showed a good regression with the size of basin area.

  • Digital Elevation Model, Ortho-image, and 3-D positional data of terrain features are indispensable elements for producing 3-D image information. In this research, digital pbotogrammetric studies were conducted to measure the 3-D positional data on high performance computer systems in order to replace analytical stereo-plotter-oriented tasks with those of digital workstations. Especially, technical approaches to measure these data on stereo workstation were developed and then the results were applied on SPOT satellite images. As the result of this study, the possibilities of the proposed technologies were tested and proved based on the ap-plication of the digital photogrammetric processes to extract 3-D ground coordinates of terrain features from digital satellite imagery.

  • 본 연구는 지형참조항법(TRN; Terrain Referenced Navigation)에 근거하는 헬리콥터 항법 시스템을 위한 기본 알고리즘을 개발하기 위해 수행되었다. 현재 본 연구에 위성항법장치(GPS; Global Positioning System)로부터의 정보(X, Y, Z 좌표)는 비행체가 항로를 비행하는 중 매 92.8m의 수평거리로 환산하여 수신되는 것으로 가정하였다. 비행체는 3차원 직교 좌표 체계(Cartesian coordinate system)로 표현되는 수치지형모델 (DTM; Digital Terrain Model)상에서 시점(Origination)-종점(Destination) 기법에 의해 항로를 결정한다. 본 시스템은 우선 조종사에게 지형의 사전 인식을 위해 시점-종점 주변 3차원 지형도와 항로의 종단면도를 보여준다. 본 시스템은 직접적인 지상 충돌을 피하기 위해 지형 여유 층면(terrain clearance floor)의 개념을 도입, 기복 지형 표면에 일정 높이의 완충 공간을 설정한다. 만약 비행체가 항행 중 완충 공간에 접근하게 되면 본 시스템은 즉시 경고음과 메시지를 발한다(Matlab 메뉴를 사용하였음). 물론 헬리콥터의 이착륙 시에는 불필요한 경고를 발생시키지 않기 위해 완충 공간 조정은 가능하다. 수치지형모델은 (주)첨성대가 확보하고 있는 3초 간격의 DTM을 채택, 작성하였다.

  • As the progress regarding spatial analysis on features such as landscape, sunlight, shadow, and direct ray using 3D simulation, it is required to research the creation of 3D terrain models crucial for 3D simulations. In this paper, we suggested the methods to create the 3D terrain model for the state after development, by transfer the 2D plan to 3D terrain model using the normal equation. Automated algorithm producing 3D terrain model from 2D plan was developed. And It is expected to be needed more studies detailed.

  • The purpose of the present paper is to offer an analysis of LiDAR data processing and three dimensional terrain for Geographic Information System (CIS) applications. Generally, LiDAR survey is the method which obtains quantitative and qualitative information of the terrain using airborne laser scanning (ALS). We will get a most topographic data at a Triangular Irregular Network (TIN), Digital Surface Model (DSM) and Digital Elevation Model (DEM) using LiDAR data. We examined many factors such as visibility, hillshade, aspect and slope using DEM and DSM. The analyzing results obtained from each item are thought to be regarded as leading factors in the terrain analysis. It is to be hoped that LiDAR survey will contribute a new approach to the terrain analysis.

  • 수자원 분야에서 DEM을 이용하여 유역의 수문학적 지형인자를 추출하기 위해서는 DEM으로부터 하천망을 추출하고, 유역을 분할하며 이를 이용하여 유역 범위 내에서 지형인자를 계산하는 일련의 과정이 필요하다. 이때 사용되는 기초 자료인 DEM은 최종 결과물인 유역의 지형인자에 영향을 미치게 되며, 따라서 지표면의 수리${\cdot}$수문 현상을 가장 적절히 표현할 수 있는 DEM을 수문학적으로 어떻게 처리할 것인가가 중요한 문제이다. 수치지도의 등고선이나 영상으로부터 추출된 DEM을 그대로 유역 분석에 이용할 경우 지표면 흐름 모의에 장애를 초래하는 sink나 flat area와 같은 오류를 다수 포함하고 있다 그러므로 이러한 오류들을 합리적인 방법으로 제거하는 과정이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 DEM을 이용하여 유역의 수문학적 지형인자를 계산하기 위해 DEM이 가지고 있는 오류 중 sink를 제거하는 기술을 개발하였다. 본 연구에서 구현한 sink 제거 기술을 이용하여 실제 유역의 DEM에서 sink를 제거하고, 그 결과를 Arc Hydro와 WMS v6.1과 비교하여 적용된 sink 처리 알고리즘의 타당성과 적용성을 검토하였다. Sink 제거 기능의 효율성과 오류 수정후의 DEM에서 추출된 하천망의 형태적 특성 및 실제하천과의 유사성에 대하여 검토한 결과 유역의 모든 sink가 양호하게 보정되었으며 보정된 DEM을 이용하여 추출된 하천망 또한 국외의 Arc Hydro 및 WMS v6.1과 유사한 결과를 나타내고 있다.

  • The Government confirmed the action planning of digital mapping project for major thematic maps based on‘Revised Plan for The Development of the National Geographic Information System’(NGIS). Mapping for major thematic maps will selectively have produced the essential digital thematic maps according to the frequency of usage by the year of 2000. The models of topographic-cadastral maps around Suwon were produced in accordance with the presented draft. We presented specification for production of the most appropriate topographic-cadastral maps through the analysis of the process of production, discussion and error check, and correction of the produced topographic-cadastral maps. And we could make it easier to develop digital mapping project of topographic-cadastral maps effectively by presenting the strategy for data input and maintenance, the cost model for carrying out the digital thematic map production, digital topographic maps, and the supplement of data model and data format.

  • We proposea a more inproved alperithm which can reconstruct the berrer 3D terrains from cintour line data usong the fractals and the Neural Networks and which is an improvement based on that in[1, 2, 3]with the con-sideration on neighboring patch.We have learned the feature data in addition to reflecththe charateristics of complicated toprgraphy, and have implemented on mountainous and flatness topography using the proposed learning pattern by the reduced average error.The results of implements reprsented that the mountainous top-ography is better than that of fltness on the similarity and the visuality.

Making Storytelling of Geomorphological Landscape of Yongyu-dong (용유동 지형경관에 대한 스토리텔링 내용 구성)

  • There are many traditional natural heritages, so-called Dongcheon-gugok, in the Sobaek mountainous region ranged from Sangju city to Mungyeong city. Because Yongyu-dong has the beautiful scenery, well conserved, and many related documents, making amusing storytelling is allowed. Therefore, this study is to construct the storytelling by putting together the geomorphological explanation of topographical landscape and travel writing or poetry and prose by ancient people. The main themes of storytelling are the sculpture of the letter, gutters and pot holes on the broad and flat rock, and the arguments of the forming processes of Yong-choo. I expect this storytelling to help understanding and symphasizing the traditional natural heritages.
