The Modern Significance of Taoist Ecological Ideas as Reflected in Taoist Architecture (도교 생태사상이 반영된 도교 건축의 현대적 의의)

  • In this paper, we examined the development of Chinese Taoist architecture, its cultural implications, and comprehensively summarized the core principles of the Taoist ecological ideas that are reflected in Taoist architecture. This is a groundwork for exploring an ideological model for sustainable ecological architecture in modern cities. Taoist architecture has a long history that has led to changes, developments, and a gradual maturation. Zhi (治), Lu (廬), and Jing (靖), were the first architectural forms of the early Taoist body. These formed the basis for the future development of Taoist Courts (宮觀). The state-sponsored government-run Taoist Courts established from the time of the North and South Dynasties to the time of Tang Dynasty led to a constant standardization of the rites, and these Courts gradually became more and more formalized. Since the establishment of Quanzhenjiao (全眞敎) in the early 12th century, a movement that emphasized putiy training, architecture for the ascetic practice emerged in remote natural spaces suitable for strict ascetic practices. Meanwhile, in Taoist architecture, the type and structure of buildings were strengthened in order to worship various gods. The various Taoist Courts established through this historical process embody the elements, institutions, and ecological ideas of Taoist culture. Taoist architecture basically pursued the idealism of Paradise in a Deep Cave (洞天福地) and adopted a feng-shui theory of using natural terrain artfully in selecting a place and building a layout. This was reflected through their ecology. Meanwhile, Taoist architecture does not destroy the balance of nature by emphasizing the utilization of local natural resources whenever possible while selecting building materials according to the principles of yinyang and the five movements (陰陽五行). In addition, Taoism aims to select simple places for practising asceticism and ancestral rituals whenever possible because of the need to maintain a simple mind, suppress desire, and return to a state of purity. This attitude is an indication of a kind of simple ecological ideas and value of frugality easily found in Taoism. The ecological ideas of Taoism provide abundant resources for considering solutions to the ecological crisis that arises in the creation of residential environments. Through the ecological ideas of Taoism, we can find a direction to understand the relationship between human beings and nature while creating new, sustainable residential environments.

Estimation of Standard Load for Disaster-Resistant Design of Outdoor Signboards (내재해형 옥외광고물 설계를 위한 표준하중 산정)

  • Recent destructions of outdoor signboards have frequently been caused by strong wind, resulting in damage on the property and human livelihood. One of the major causes of the problems is inadequate implementation of structural design code to the outdoor signboards which are vulnerable to wind. This leads to this paper to present the design guideline of wind-resistant outdoor signboards. In order to estimate the design wind speed, basic wind speeds over Korea suggested by KBC(2015)(revision) are corrected with land surface roughness and topography of the terrain and installation height of the signboard. This paper also suggested the procedure of wind load estimation for different types of outdoor signboards; wall attached type, wall ribbed type and ground erected type. Since the process involves complex calculation to some extent, this paper presents summarized version of wind load estimation from non-professional point of view.

Differences in Flood Runoff Regarding Climate Changes Utilizing GSSHA Model on the Bukhan River Basin (GSSHA를 활용한 북한강 유역 미래 홍수량 변화 예측 연구)

  • 최근 전 지구적인 기후변화로 인하여, 극한기후일수 증가, 이상기후 등의 환경문제가 심화되고 있으며, 이는 이·치수 측면에서 물관리 정책 수립 등의 어려움을 가중시키고 있다. 더욱이 우리나라는 산악지형이 많고 수계형태가 복잡한 지형적 특성과 여름철에 연강수량이 집중되는 계절적 특성을 지니고 있어 수자원의 효율적인 관리가 어려운 실정이다. 연구 대상 유역은 DMZ 이북의 미계측 유역을 포함한 북한강 전체유역을 대상으로 하였으며, 주요 댐 유역별로 세분하여 6개 댐유역(화천댐, 춘천댐, 소양강댐, 의암댐, 청평댐, 팔당댐)에서 홍수량 분석을 실시하였다. 이때 상류의 미계측 유역을 분석하기 위해 격자기반으로 매개변수의 물리적인 계산이 가능한 분포형 모형인 GSSHA 모형을 활용하였다. 또한 온실가스 저감 정책의 실현 여부에 따른 저탄소 및 고탄소 기후변화 시나리오를, 미래 전·중·후반기의 기간별로 적용하여, 현재를 포함한 7가지 시나리오를 반영하였다. 연구결과, 미래 전반기에서는 홍수량이 다소 감소하는 것으로 나타났으며 미래 중반기 및 후반기에서는 증가하는 것으로 분석되었다. 소유역별 분석 결과를 종합하면, 탄소 배출 농도에 따른 평균 홍수량 변화율은 저탄소 시나리오에서는 -1.03 %에서 +4.01 %, 고탄소 시나리오에서는 -4.54 %에서 +17.73 %로 나타났다. 저탄소와 고탄소 시나리오를 비교하면 홍수량 변화율 차이는 미래 기간 및 소유역 마다 상이하지만, 최소 359 %에서 최대 527 %까지 차이를 보였다. 따라서 인류의 탄소저감 노력은 기후변화 자체를 막을 수는 없으나, 그 영향을 최대 5배 이상 감소할 수 있다는 결론을 도출하였다. 본 연구는 북한강 유역의 미래 기간별 확률홍수량 예측값 및 수문특성의 변화 전망을 주요 댐 유역에서 정량적으로 제시하였다. 이에 따라 본 연구가 향후 기후변화에 대비한 이·치수 정책 마련 및 접경지역의 재난예방에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • 적설은 자주는 아니지만 가끔 비교적 넓은 범위에 피해를 발생시킨다. 적설에 의한 피해를 예방하기 위해서는 피해를 유발하는 적설심을 미리 파악해 둘 필요가 있다. 하지만 관측하고 있는 적설심은 특정 관측지점으로 한정되어 피해를 유발하는 한계적설심을 파악하는데 어려움이 있다. 이를 극복하기 위한 일반적인 방법은 관측지점의 적설을 보간하여 공간적으로 확대하는 것이다. 하지만 이것은 매우 적은 자료를 가지고 넓은 영역을 통계적으로 추정해야하는 한계로 인해 피해 유발 한계적설심의 구명에 더 혼란을 주기도 한다. 이를 보완하기 위해서는 넓은 영역을 관측하는 위성영상을 활용할 수 있으며, 그 중에서도 합성개구레이더(Synthetic Aperture Radar; SAR)를 이용한 InSAR(Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar) 기법은 이를 위해 적절한 방법일 수 있다. 영상의 간섭계는 두 개의 다른 시기에 측정된 합성개구레이더 영상의 위상차를 이용한 것으로 일반적으로 다른 조건들이 일치할 때 지형의 변화를 추적할 때 사용되곤 한다. 그런데 만약 두 시기 사이에 특별한 지형적인 변화를 일으키는 요인이 없고 단지 적설만이 존재한다면 두 영상의 위상차는 적설의 효과로 볼 수 있을 것이다. 적설이 전파의 전달경로를 다르게 만들어 위상차를 발생시키는 것으로 가정할 수 있다. 이때 발생하는 위상차는 적설심과 적설의 굴절률에 의해 다를 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 적설 전후에 수집된 인공위성 합성개구레이더 자료의 위상차를 분석한 간섭영상을 이용해 적설심의 공간분포를 추정하여 비교해 보고자 한다. 이를 위해 적설에 대한 투과가 가능한 C밴드 레이더를 사용하는 Sentinel-1의 영상을 사용하였다. 적설심의 공간분포는 실제 피해발생지역의 적설심을 보다 정확하게 추정하는데 기여할 수 있으며, 이것은 실제 피해유발적설심을 파악하는데 도움이 될 것이다.

A Basic Study on Spatial Configuration of Gang-jin Nongsanbyeoleop (강진 농산별업(農山別業)의 공간구성에 대한 기초 연구)

  • This is a basic study for recovering original form of Nongsanbyeoleop(農山別業) in Gangjin, Jeonnam, created in the latter part of Joseon period and the estimation of originla form at the time of creation was conducted by analyzing related literature and inspecting the actual site. "Joseokruki(朝夕樓記)" of Dasan Jung, Yak Yong could estimate spatial structure and using form of Nongsanbyeoleop and the arrangement of spatial structure in literature could be confirm by on-the-site inspection. The results of this study are as follows. The first, Nongsanbyeoleop managed spatial factors applying natural topography. For the spatial characteristics of Nongsanbyeoleop, the location of ancestral ritual space including deceased father's tomb and tomb house far from the main levee of Yun, Kwang Taek, a father of Yun, Seo Yu by 1.9km and housekeeping could be confirmed. The second, spatial estimation by "Joseokruki" could be possible. "Joseokruki" describes Joseokru.Youngmojae.Hanokkwan.Cheokyunjung.Sangam as construction factors, Wundang.Kookdan.Nokwunoh. as plant factors, Sookyunggan.Keumkoji.Nokeumjung.Uijanghae as hydroponic factors and Pyoeunkok.Aengjakang as natural topography factors. However, most of them were disappeared and at present, only Youngmojae, Keumgoji, Kukdan and Wundang show the past trace. The third is for the changed space of Nongsanbyeoleop and its reason. The surrounding space of Nongsanbyeoleop was planated by land arrangement in 1960s and it played a role of topographical damage because it's recognized as the plane factor including Nongsanbyeoleop's surrounding landscape rather than dotted factor. The forth, the actual measurement of Nongsanbyeoleop and digitalization of manual map of numerical value are judged to be sufficient to apply as the basic material for recovering garden in the future. Because of the diatahce changing method applied at that time, the garden recovery of Nongsanbyeoleop intended to be concreted and 3D model established by digitalized basic materials is considered to apply for multilateral studying. Thus, Nongsanbyeoleop which is byeolseo including the tomb of deceased father based on the conceptual hyo thought shows clear differences from the organized factors of Byolseowonrim of precedent studies and the importance of Byolseowonrim is sufficient. But, the constructional factors which cannot know disappeared spatial factors and accurate location became the limitation of this study. In the future, clear verification of original form must be progressed by excavation which can confirm the location of construction factors.

Water Landscape Displaying Techinques of Traditional Gardens between China and Korea - With Soswaewon and ZhuozhengYuan - (한.중 전통원림의 수경관 연출기법 비교 연구 - 소쇄원과 졸정원을 중심으로 -)

  • Landscape Garden tradition of excellent examples of places that are focused on hydroponics management. South Korea and China, this thing was noticeable among them South Korea which emphasizes the natural contours of the natural streams in accordance with the basic idea to use examples that feature will do. Gardens in China by constructing a flat terrain also naturally expect to find examples of conscious ideas depending on the water and the mountains are characterized. LIM Implementation Method for Planning Biotope Area Ratio in Apartment Complex - Focused on Terrain and Pavement Modeling - (공동주택단지의 생태면적률 계획을 위한 LIM 활용방법 - 지형 및 포장재 모델링을 중심으로 -)

  • The Biotope Area Ratio (BAR) is a quantitative pre-planning index for sustainable development and an integrated indicator for the balanced development of buildings and outdoor spaces. However, it has been pointed out that there are problems in operations management: errors in area calculation, insufficiency in the underground soil condition and depth, reduction in biotope area after construction, and functional failure as a pre-planning index. To address these problems, this study proposes implementing LIM. Since the weights of the BAR are mainly decided by the underground soil condition and depth with land cover types, the study focused on the terrain and pavements. The model should conform to BIM guidelines and standards provided by government agencies and professional organizations. Thus, the scope and Level Of Detail (LOD) of the model were defined, and the method to build a model with BIM software was developed. An apartment complex on sloping ground was selected as a case study, a 3D terrain modeled, paving libraries created with property information on the BAR, and a LIM model completed for the site. Then the BAR was calculated and construction documents were created with the BAR table and pavement details. As results of the study, it was found that the application of the criteria on the BAR and calculation became accurate, and the efficiency of design tasks was improved by LIM. It also enabled the performance of evidence-based design on the terrain and underground structures. To adopt LIM, it is necessary to create and distribute LIM library manuals or templates, and build library content that comply with KBIMS standards. The government policy must also have practitioners submit BIM models in the certification system. Since it is expected that the criteria on planting types in the BAR will be expanded, further research is needed to build and utilize the information model for planting materials.

A Study on the Architectural Characteristic Jang-Dae of Castle in the Joseon Dynasty (조선시대 성곽 장대의 건축특성에 관한 연구)

  • This paper is a preliminary study of architectural characteristics of Jangdae (general's podium), which shows one of the technical changes in fortification of Joseon Dynasty. As a facility for commands of generals and training for officers and men, it was located inside a fortress. Although it is not certain when the first Jangdae was built, the number of them dramatically increased around 18th century. Since the top priority function of the Jangdae was the prospect, it was installed at the hilly spot with open architecture. In addition, the open structure of Eupseong fortress towers on the riverside banks could simultaneously offer the functions as viewing around and Jangdae. Since Jangdae was also a place for military drills and reviews of soldiers, a wide podium was positioned at the front to muster the soldiers. This feature was standardized in the space organization of Jangdae in Joseon, and a mere podium was installed unless the topographic restrictions allows enough space. On the other hand, as a place for a commander, the hierarchy of the Jangdae was revealed through a variety of architectural characteristics. The hierarchy was assigned to the commander's space through the altitude difference, and diverse ornaments were added to show a sense of class. The floor plan of the Jangdae building can be largely categorized into rectangle and square, and the typical sizes of the former are $5{\times}4$ Kans (traditional measuring unit between two columns) and $3{\times}2$ Kans. Out of these two types, buildings of $5{\times}4$ Kans were found in flat land and eupseong fortresses with large space, and the relatively smaller ones of $3{\times}2$ Kans in mountain fortresses. All buildings of square floor plan had $3{\times}3$ Kans style, and the center Kan was twice wider than the side Kan to make the central space wide. It seems that the purpose was to secure the interior space of the upper story because the center Kan accounts for the floor area of the upper story. Some Jangdae's had internal story to form overhead space. The multi-roofed tower style with eaves attached to the upper and lower story is found exclusively in Jangdae. The buildings shows the Onkanmulim style which extends Naejinju (inner column) of the lower story to be the Byeonju (outer column) of the upper story, and the log-framed floor in the upper floor was structured by inserting the Changbang (connecting beam) between the Naejinju's and joining the log frames. In addition, the towers in eupseong fortresses had log-framed floor in the upper floor by setting up the high Nuhaju (column underneath a roof) and joining Cheongbang to the upper part of the column while it cannot be regarded as multi-roofed because only the upper part has a roof.

Research on Basic Investigation and Analysis for Iand Substitution Planing using High-resolution Satellite Imagery (환지계획 수립시 고해상 위성영상을 이용한 기초조사 및 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Various data like digital maps(1/1,000 or 1/5,000), field surveying, online materials and literatures are used for the preliminary investigation for urban development such as the feasibility evaluation, the profitability analysis, the zoning proposal, the zoning designation, and the land replotting planning. There are a couple of urban development methods like an expropriation, a replotting, a mixed-used method. The replotting method requires the consideration of land replotting types based on topography and building condition, which is not easy to gather data for the preliminary investigation maintaining the security of development planning. There are limitations of a preliminary investigation using aerial photos to detect topographic and building changes at specific period. GIS data combined with high-resolution imagery has advantages over the current dataset, which come from easy acquisition of various spatial resolution satellite images, wide swath coverage, the choice of imagery resolution satisfying a usage purpose, economic benefit comparing to aerial photos, and the calculation of distance and area on imagery from image modeling. For these reasons, the proposed method in this study enables to perform the more appropriate preliminary investigation using more accurate information.

Hemato-Biochemical Indices of Hanwoo Cattle Raised at Different Altitudes (서로 다른 고도에서 사육된 비육한우의 혈액-혈청 지수)

  • The health status of three groups of Hanwoo steers (n=157) aged 2-3 years, raised at three different altitudes (600 m, n=50; 200-400 m, n=58; plane land, n=49) and environment with more or less similar management have been evaluated through hematological, biochemical and globulin examinations in order to determine the optimum environment suitable for raising cattle while at the same time minimizing the risk of disease. Five mL of blood samples from each animal were collected by jugular veinipuncture and 2 mL was transferred to a tube containing EDTA for complete blood count (CBC) and 3 mL in lithium heparin for chemistry screening (CS) and immunoassay. Among the CBC parameters a significantly higher white blood cell count (tWBC), total red blood cell count (tRBC), hemoglobin (Hb) and packed cell volume (PCV) were noticed in the high altitude groups, whereas those were lower in the plane land group. In the CS parameters higher levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), creatinine, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and total bilirubin (TBL) were found in the plane land group, whereas those were lower in the high altitude groups. The total protein (significantly) and globulins were higher in the 600 m group. The results of this study revealed that the overall health status of the Hanwoo cattle based on the hemato-biochemical indices was superior in the highest altitude and inferior in the plane land group but all the parameters were within the reference range in all the groups. Therefore, for recommendation of a suitable environment at an appropriate altitude for raising cattle there need to be further studied along with the hemato-biochemical parameters; considering, breeding, feeding, management, marketing, waste disposal and other factors.
