A Study on Estimating Geomagnetic Azimuth using LSTM (LSTM을 이용한 지자기 방위각 추정 기술 연구)

  • The method of estimating the azimuth by measuring the geomagnetism has been used for a very long time. However, there are many cases where an error occurs in the estimated azimuth due to disturbances in the earth's magnetic field due to metal structures inside and outside the room. Although many studies have been conducted to correct this, there is a limit to reducing the error. In this paper, we propose a method of estimating the azimuth by applying the measured geomagnetic sensor data to the neural network of the LSTM structure. Data preprocessing is very important for learning a neural network. In this paper, data is collected using the built-in acceleration sensor, gyro sensor, and geomagnetic sensor in the smartphone, and the geomagnetic sensor data is uniformly sampled using EKF. As a result, an average azimuth estimation error of 0.9 degrees was obtained using four hidden layers.

Magnetic Signals Analysis for Vehicle Detection Sensor and Magnetic Field Shape (자기신호분석을 통한 차량의 감지센서와 자기형상에 관한 연구)

  • This paper is about utilizing magnetic sensor to measure magnetic signal and analyze the form of magnetic signal for vehicle detection. For magnetic sensor, MR sensor from Honeywell company was used, and Helmholtz coil of which 3 axis' length is 1.2 m was manufactured to check the capability of the sensor and estimate its ability to detect the magnetic field. Vehicle detection was performed in following steps: installing sensor in road lane and non-road lane; estimating magnetic field when the vehicle is run by the driver; and estimating magnetic field of 7 different vehicles with different sizes. Also, sensor was installed at SUV and small-sized vehicle's park and non-park area to analyze the form of magnetic field. Lastly, the form of magnetic field made by different parts of the vehicle was analyzed. Based on the analysis, the form of magnetic field's magnetic peak value was bigger for road lane than non-road lane, complicated form was useful to distinguish the road lane above the installed sensor and the location of the running car, and the types of vehicle could be sorted because the variance of the magnetic field was bigger for bigger size of the vehicle. Also, it was confirmed that the forms of vehicle in parts-by-parts estimates.

  • Recently, many electronic devices have been integrated with various kinds of wireless sensor network technologies that have been enabled with wireless network connections. These wireless sensor network devices have adopted various kinds of wireless network technologies. On the other hand, because each wireless network technology has its advantages and disadvantages, the target and purposes should be considered carefully at the beginning of the development. In particular, the approach to the magnetic sensor should be considered carefully because it has its own characteristic compared to general sensors. The magnetic field generates nonlinear data. This paper introduces the design aspects to reflect low cost and wearable devices to use in a wireless sensor network. In addition, this paper addresses how to select proper sensor network technology. As a result, wireless sensor network devices were integrated using Zigbee and showed the performance of the throughput.

A Study on magnetic sensor calibration for indoor smartphone position tracking (스마트폰 실내 위치 추적을 위한 지자기 센서 보정에 관한 연구)

  • Research on indoor location tracking technology using smart phone is actively being carried out. Especially, in order to display the movement path of the smartphone on the map, the azimuth angle should be estimated by using the geomagnetic sensor built in most smart phones. Due to the distortion of the magnetic field due to the surrounding steel structure and the inclination of the smartphone, the estimation error of azimuthal angle may be occurred. In this paper, we propose a correction method of the geomagnetic sensor at the stationary state and a correction method for the inclination of the smartphone. We also propose a method to correct the azimuth error due to the difference between the magnetic north and the grid north.

Developing Wearable Joystick Device Using Magnetic Sensor (자기장 센서를 이용한 웨어러블 조이스틱 장치의 개발)

  • There has been demand for many magnetic sensor applications, and to develop low-cost devices, it is critical to accurately understand the behavior of the magnetic field and the characteristics of magnetic sensors and target devices during initial development phase. The magnetic field has been known to have very complicated nonlinear data to calculate, so it has required expensive computing machines or research to accurately calculate the magnetic sensor values. However, this paper introduces a characteristic of a magnetic sensor called the giant magnetoresistance (GMR) and proposes simple and sufficient approaches to develop a wearable joystick device using a magnetic sensor. Particularly, this paper introduces the design factors for how to properly develop a low-cost wearable joystick device using magnetic sensors after carefully considering the mechanism of a real joystick and the characteristics of magnetic sensors. As a result, user test results are provided to show how users can operate this new wearable joystick device.

  • 이동로봇은 주행성을 가지며 설정된 이동 경로에 따라 목적지까지 자율적으로 이동하기 위해서는 이동로봇의 실제 위치에 대한 정확한 정보가 확보되어야 한다. 정보확보를 위해서 보통 엔코더, 자이로센서, 비젼센서, 레이저 거리등의 센서를 주로 사용한다. 본 연구에서 주행중인 이동로봇의 위치는 상대센서인 엔코더를 통해 측정된 운동변화량과 출발점에서 이동로봇의 위치로부터 자기유도 주행방법에 의해 계산된다. 이들 상대센서는 이동로봇의 실제 이동에 따라 주행거리 및 주행 방향 변화를 항상 측정할 수 있으므로, 전체 주행구간에 걸쳐 이동로봇의 위치를 연속적으로 측정할 수 있다는 장점이 있으나, 상대센서 측정값에 발생된 오차가 위치 평가값이 연속적으로 누적되므로 실제 위치에 대한 오차가 발생하는 단점이 있다. 즉, 바닥의 미끄럼, 요철, 로봇의 요동(Vibration)등 큰 오차의 요인이 된다. 본 연구에서는 위치를 직접 추정하지 않고 엔코드에서 나온 위치오차, Heading 오차, 자체 엔코드오차 그리고, 자이로 오차와 지자기 센서 오차를 Extended Kalman Filter를 통해 추정하여 이 오차를 다시 위치 계산과 Heading에 되돌려 줌으로서 오차를 보정하는 방법을 제시한다.

  • Magnetic sensors and actuators have been widely used in industry and medical fields. Integrated systems based on sensors and actuators are defined as mechatronics that is the general combination of mechanics and electronics. Recently, magnetic wireless sensors and actuators have been developed and used at a systematic level. In particular, their mechanisms depend on magnetic, such as magnetic material and physical phenomena. However, their research boundary has not been clear. Researchers talk of magnetic micro-robots, magnetic actuators and sensors. Therefore, a new and correct definition is required. In this study, we introduce the advanced and extended concept of mechatronics, which is a magneto-mechantronics for biomedical and rehabilitation. Among various applications, we focused on wireless pump and sensing system for blood vessel rehabilitation and local motion capture, respectively.

Attitude Estimation of Agricultural Unmanned Helicopters using Inertial Measurement Sensors (관성센서를 이용한 농용 무인 헬리콥터의 자세 추정)

  • Agricultural unmanned helicopters have become a new paradigm for aerial application. Yet, such agricultural helicopters require easy and affordable attitude control systems. Therefore, this study presents an affordable attitude measurement system using a DCM (direction cosine matrix) algorithm that would be applied to agricultural unmanned helicopters. An IMU using a low-cost MEMS and an algorithm to estimate the attitude of the helicopter were applied in a gimbals structure to evaluate the accuracy of the attitude measurements. The estimation errors in the attitude were determined in comparison with the true angles determined by absolute position encoders. The DCM algorithm and sensors showed an accuracy of about 1.1% for the roll and pitch angle estimation. However, the accuracy of the yaw angle estimation at 3.7% was relatively larger. Such errors may be due to the magnetic field of the stepping motor and encoder system. Notwithstanding, since the intrinsic behavior of the agricultural helicopter remains steady, the determination of attitude would be reliable and practical.

  • 본 논문에서는 현재 서비스 중인 지자기를 이용한 위치인식 서비스를 더울 효율적이고 정확하게 이용하기 위해, 스마트폰 카메라 기능을 이용한 이미지 인식 서비스 기술을 융합하여 상호 보완적이고 완성적인 실내 위치인식 서비스 시스템을 제안하고자 한다. 본 시스템은 스마트폰 카메라와 지자기 센서를 이용하여 특정 인프라 구축 없이 데이터 분석만으로 실내 측위 시스템 구현을 목표로 한다.

  • 이 논문에서는 운전자의 운전 패턴을 분석하기 위한 멀티 센서 기반의 패턴 분석 알고리즘을 제안한다. 센서를 통해 얻어진 주행 데이터의 상관 관계를 비교, 분석하여 주행 패턴을 인식한다. 가속도 센서에 작용하는 중력값과 지자기 센서의 방향 데이터을 통해 각 운전 패턴을 인식하는 정확도를 높이는데 이용하였다.
