In this paper, worldwide standards and regulations on broadcasting services are reviewed to improve the fringe area of terrestrial DTV broadcasting services. Using these results, in-band/out-of-band emission requirements of low power DTV repeater with 10mW/MHz radiating power are proposed, and experimentally evaluated and verified. Using the proposed regulations, compact and cost-effective DTV repeater can be easily implemented to broaden DTV broadcasting coverage and to improve small/medium size DTV fringe areas.

In this paper, low power on-channel DTV repeater is implemented to improve the fringe area of terrestrial DTV broadcasting services and its effectiveness is verified by field trials. System requirements of on-channel repeater are drive from received signal model and gain transfer model. Implemented on-channel DTV repeater has coverage of about 1km with 10mW/MHz output power. Experimental results show that implemented system can effectively improve small/medium size DTV fringe areas in Korea.

This article researched the changes of terrestrial local broadcasting companies in a crisis of management. According to the following: First, the structure of the internal organization of local broadcasting companies has been changed to put more emphasis on 'management'. Second, most of the interviewees responded that this change was an inevitable choice. However, some responded that their 'role identity' was changing in a negative direction. Third, these changes have led to the emergence of programs that could undermine public interest. It also showed an increase in the production of 'funding-based' programs and 'mobile first' programs.

Many communications and broadcast media have emerged by the rapid development of wireless communication and broadcasting technologies, so the radio resources are insufficient for these services. DMB can use the regional integrated channel due to the SFN broadcasting network, so DMB uses the frequency efficiently. However, the domestic DMB uses the existing analog TV frequency band and uses a plurality of channels in some areas because of the interference with the analog TV. However, the broadcasting of the analog TV was terminated, so the channel reallocation of the terrestial DMB is necessary for the efficient use of frequencies. This paper proposes the channel reallocation method of the terrestial DMB and analyzes the change of transmission and reception environments by using simulations.

Recently, broadcasting technologies have evolved as high-quality AV services such as domestic terrestrial UHD(Ultra-High Definition) broadcasting have been increasing, and broadcasting standards have been newly defined. Also, as network technology develops, contents are consumed not only in the country but also the world. Accordingly, content insertion technology, which is a method of providing suitable contents in accordance with the national and local environments, will be needed. This paper proposes a content insertion service system model and synchronization scheme using ATSC(Advanced Television Systems Committee) 3.0 Event Signaling standard under heterogeneous network environment of broadcasting network and internet network based on transmission standard DASH(Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP)/ROUTE(Real time Object delivery Over Unidirectional Transport) and MMT(MPEG Media Transport) of terrestrial UHD broadcasting. It also verifies that the service operates in an environment that meets the broadcast standard.

지상파 DTV 방송의 직접수신 환경을 개선하기 위해서는 DTV 방송음영지역의 발생 원인과 실제 음영지역의 발생 유형을 정확히 분석할 필요가 있다. 우리나라의 DTV 직접 수신환경은 전 국토의 70%에 이르는 산악 지형과 높은 인구 밀도로 인해 고층 건물이 밀집되어 있어 전파 간섭이 발생하여 직접 수신이 어려울 가능성이 높다. 특히 DTV는 아날로그 방송에 비해 주파수 파장이 짧은 UHF 대역으로만 송출하게 되어있어 지역에 따라서는 건물이나 산 등에 의해 전파의 손실이 기존 VHF 대역보다 크게 나타난다. 이러한 전파 음영지역은 도심지의 경우 국부적으로 발생하는 것이 일반적이다. 본 논문에서는 DTV의 수신 장애가 일어나는 원인의 분석을 위해 보다 더 정밀하게 DTV 전파 환경을 조사할 수 있는 이동수신 시스템을 제안하고자 한다. 제안하는 시스템을 통해 DTV 신호를 수신하는데 있어 발생할 수 있는 다양한 형태의 전파 장애 지역을 신속하게 찾아내고 그 원인을 분석할 수 있다.

In this paper, a reception rate of terrestrial digital TV broadcasting service is analyzed and a novel method which can estimate the broadcasting coverage rate more objectively and reliably than the existing method is proposed. Previous method measures the reception rate by means of electric field intensity measurement or subjective video quality assessment. Because of limited measuring points, it inherently has measurement error and cannot consider the viewer's receiving conditions in real-time. In order to consider the viewer's population and receiving environment, morphology which characterizes the viewer's receiving environment is extracted using household census data of National Statistical Office and the land cover map of Ministry of Environment. Using the extracted geographical morphology, the reception rate of terrestrial digital TV broadcasting service is calculated with Spectrum Management Intelligence System (SMIs). Proposed method can calculate the reception rate more objectively and reliably than the existing methods because it fully considers the viewer's receiving environments in real-time.

본 논문은 3D-HDTV 지상파 방송을 위한 분산송신 기반 단일 주파수 방송망 내 송신안테나 위치에 따른 송신신호 전력분포를 분석하였다. 분산송신 기반 단일 주파수 방송망 구조는 하나의 주 송신안테나와 3개의 부 송신 안테나로 구성되어 있어 수신기가 방송망 내 어느 위치에 있더라도 최소 2개 이상의 송신신호를 수신할 수 있다. 이러한 방송망 구조는 송신 안테나들이 지역적으로 배치되어 있기 때문에 공간 다이버시티를 획득 할 수 있다. 그러나 거리에 따른 송신신호 전력 감쇠 때문에 방송망 내 수신기 위치에 따라 수신 SNR이 변화하게 된다. 시스템 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안된 단일 주파수 방송망 내 송신전력 분포 분석을 통하여 안정적인 데이터 수신율을 보장하기 위해 적용 가능한 데이터 송신기법에 대해 고찰하였다.

The purpose of this study is to research on the mechanism of exportation of Korean TV programs. As a result, the buying countries of Korean TV programs have been relatively diversified : 40 countries across the world. However, examining the frequency of exportation has shown that it primarily focused on few countries such as Japan and Taiwan. Furthermore, drama has been the most preferred genre by foreign countries. Fortunately, remakes, dubbing productions, publications, and merchandising have been started to develop. As for the trade partner, the portion of foreign distributors has been ranked as a the most prioritized type. Therefore, it is necessary to open the existing closed system of distribution of Korean free TV to build more diversified partnership.

In this paper, worldwide standards and regulations on in-band/out-of-band emission characteristics of DMB broadcasting equipments are reviewed, and emission mask requirements of terrestrial low power DMB repeater under 10mW/MHz are analyzed. Out-of-band emission mask drafts suitable for single/multiple block low power repeaters are proposed. Validity and usefulness of the proposed drafts is evaluated and verified in the several experiments. Using the proposed standard, small-sized and cost-effective DMB repeater can be easily implemented to broaden DMB broadcasting coverage by reducing weak signal areas.
