  • This paper analyzes the possibilities and practical limitations of ecological welfare commons in the case of Hansalim Seoul's community care. As a commons against social-ecological crisis, the localized Salim movement in Hansalim Seoul is noteworthy as an articulation of ecological transition and socialization of care. Community care as a part of the localized Salim movement suggests the possibilities of good care by pursuing comprehensive care beyond functional(or physical) care and trying to improve the conditions of care work. In addition, Hansalim Seoul's community care is experimenting with the combination of care service and ecological transition based on a comprehensive definition of care. Of course, the scale of welfare commons in Hansalim Seoul is limited and it is not enough to fundamentally solve the undervaluation and feminization of care work. However, the tension between welfare commons and universal welfare is alleviated by pursuing open welfare commons. In the localized Salim movement, commoning focuses on experimenting with the articulation of ecological transition and socialization of care and on spreading alternatives based on its experiments. If such commoning is spread and public support is strengthened, the ecological welfare commons will be able to develope as an alternative that combines ecological welfare and good care.

  • As South Korea has become an aged society, the dementia rate has also been increasing. With the introduction of both de-institutionalization and community care in 2017, the importance of community-based care has increased. Perspectives on dementia have also been shifting from the medical model and social model to the person-centered model. This paper suggests ways to improve dementia service through analyzing the dementia knowledge of care-givers at ADS. The paper includes an FGI with the care-givers who have worked for more than 2 years. Based on such FGI, the paper draws sub-themes from 7 areas. Among the suggestions for improvement are: community-based service with daily routine practice, improving awareness of dementia for co-living, and person-centered service based on individuality and diverseness.

  • This study was conducted to find ways to utilize human-centered IT in caring for elderly people who live alone. Through focus group interviews with experts, this study investigated the problems with delivery system, and ethical issues. Problems such as lack of trust, supplier-centered care, and uniform service provision were derived as major problems in the delivery system. These findings indicate that IT should be used as an auxiliary means of face-to-face services and to be controllable and convenient. Issues such as "guaranteeing the right to self-determination," "protecting privacy," "sufficiently guaranteeing the right to know," and "encompassing blind spots" were raised as important ethical issues related to human-centered IT utilization. Based on the research results, this study presented the necessity of designing user-centered information technology and the necessity of developing ethical indicators for the use of human-centered technology.

  • This paper examines how a social investment approach can be applied in a comparative analysis of childcare arrangements. We compared changes in Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, Japan and Korea during the 2000s, focusing on four dimensions of social investment: activation, gender equality, quality of care, and the degree of state's intervention in the family. We considered leave systems and the number of children enrolled in formal care and education facilities as indicators for labour market activation. For gender equality, women's position in employment is considered with respect to labour market participation rates, proportion of permanent employment, and wage-sex ratio. Quality of care concerns child-to-staff ratio and care provided with government quality control. The state's intervention was measured as social spending on families as proportions of GDP and total social spending. Our analysis provides empirical evidence that Sweden and France are pioneers in this arena and that the UK, Germany, Korea, and Japan are path-shifters in their care paradigms, albeit to varying degrees. Is the social investment approach an adequate paradigm for care? In a normative sense, this approach has potential. However, the following issues remain unaddressed: gender equality should be achieved through an expansion in good-quality jobs, fathers should be encouraged to take on childcare duties, and families should have universal access to good-quality childcare services controlled by the government.

The logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the relative importance among the factors. The results of the study are the followings: Academic ability, lower subjective-evaluation of remuneration, non-business contracts, labor intensity, the relationship between the user, the relationship between the agency providing are factors influencing on the turnover intention. In other words, higher education, lower subjective-evaluation of remuneration, more work than the contract, higher labor intensity, the female care workers have higher probability of turnover intention. • Purpose: The first thing to be done in promoting community care is local diagnosis. Therefore, this study attempted to derive the physical infrastructure to be diagnosed, and to develop diagnostic items and diagnostic indicators applicable to this. Methods:: First, the physical infrastructure related to the community care is derived. And the diagnosis items are derived using the checklist of 'community support and health services' in the WHO Guide for Global age-friendly cities. Next, by analyzing previous studies, we develop diagnostic indicators for each diagnostic item and explore their applicability. Results: As a result of deriving the physical infrastructure for each area of housing, health service, and nursing care for community care, 22 facilities were derived for 9 types. Diagnosis items for the facilities are 1)regional equity, 2)proximity between facilities, 3)transportation access, 4)regional use, 5)barrier-free design, 6)diversity of facilities, and a total of 14 diagnostic indicators was derived. We reviewed and suggested the applicability of diagnostic items and indicators by each physical infrastructure. Implications: For the realization of community care, local diagnosis should not be limited to sim- ply grasping the presence or absence of facilities and the total amount. Instead it should strengthen capabilities by conducting diagnosis to understand the performance of facilities.

  • Recently, community welfare centers including the elderly welfare centers are also interested in the issue of loneliness and are attempting a comprehensive approach to care for the elderly in the community. The problem is that there is a need for volunteers who are sustainable, but trained semi-professionals rather than non-professionals.Therefore, ways to provide education programs that can be based on continuous supplementation and specialization of manpower and to apply them to the field are being sought. The purpose of this study is to present a plan through examples with the aim of linking college students majoring in social welfare as a major resource for preventing loneliness of elderly people living alone in local communities through volunteer activities. It was suggested that volunteer activities of college students majoring in social welfare should be provided more systematically to the elderly living alone in the community.

  • This study compares interagency linkage in the area of the elementary child care policy in korea and japan and derives the implications related to the elementary child care classes of korea. This study researches linkage method between the ministries in korea and japan focused on the background, the process, the current operating system. The elementary child care service policies of the korea & japan are analysed comparatively in terms of background, budget, goal, linkage ministries, basis of law, administrative units and on the basis of those analyses, the implications related to the elementary child care service policy of korea are derived. The derived implications are as follows : first the sound development of the child becomes the foundation of the development of school and community. Community and school have to strengthen cooperation. Second, child care policy is not the alternatives for overcoming fragmentary problems but has to be carried out considering them variously in broad prospective. Third, korea has to find the effective linkage method between the ministries. Fourth, find the way which interagency policy can be merged as a hub for school. Fifth, korea has to find the way transferring the central operating body from the principal in school to the local government to operate the elementary child care classes successfully. Sixth, positive interest and continuous support of the top policy makers is needed.

  • This study was aimed to construct a theoretical model for managing persons with early psychosis. We systematically searched SCOPUS, PubMed, RISS, Web of Knowledge, and KoreaMed for related factors to manage persons with early psychosis. Significant terms or phrases for a preliminary structural model were obtained from 19 studies since 2000 regarding the management of persons with early psychosis. Moreover, the content validity for the model was evaluated by 22 professionals. The study results revealed 51 factors for managing persons with early psychosis extracted by meta-analysis, and all factors were divided into 21 medium classification and 8 categories. A theoretical model was constructed with 8 categories, by using the middle range theory of Peplau's Interpersonal Relationships in Nursing. The results suggest that the theoretical model for the management of persons with early psychosis provides a sound theoretical basis for future study.
