Ground Altitude Computation Algorithm using Laser Altimeter and GPS for UAV Automatic Take-off and Landing (레이저 고도계 및 GPS를 이용한 무인기의 자동이착륙용 지면고도계산 알고리듬 설계)

  • This paper presents a ground altitude determination algorithm using a laser altimeter and GPS for automatic take-off and landing of UAV. The characteristics of the laser altimeter was analyzed in ground tests and a low-pass filter was designed to reduce the effect of signal interruption due to reflectivity problem. The paper shows that a single sensor cannot measure ground altitude appropriately in terms of reliability and accuracy. To complement shortcomings of the laser altimeter, the linear Kalman filter was designed using DGPS vertical speed. Designed filter was validated and tuned through the steps of simulation, ground test and flight test. It was confirmed that the accuracy for automatic landing is achievable.

  • This paper addresses the trajectory optimization of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs) under multiple ground threats like enemy's anti-air radar sites. The power of radar signal reflected by the vehicle and the flight time are considered in the performance cost to be minimized. The bank angle is regarded as control input for a 1st-order lag vehicle, and input parameter optimization method based on Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP) is used for trajectory optimization. The proposed path planning method provides more practical trajectories with enhanced survivability than those of Voronoi diagram method.

Ultrasonic Rangefinder Spike Rejection Method Using Wavelet Packet Transform (웨이블릿 패킷 변환을 이용한 초음파 거리계 스파이크 제거 기법)

  • In this paper, a wavelet packet transform method is proposed for improving the altitude control performance of quadrotor UAV using an ultrasonic rangefinder. A ground tests are conducted using an ultrasonic rangefinder that is much used for vertical takeoff and landing. An ultrasonic rangefinder suffers from signal's spike due to specular reflectance and acoustic noise. The occurred spikes in short time span need to be analyzed at both sides time and frequency domain. The analyzed spikes of the ultrasonic rangefinder using a wavelet packet transform. Compared with the discrete wavelet transform, the wavelet packet decomposition can obtain more abundant time-frequency localization information, so it is more suitable for analyzing and processing ultrasonic signals spike. Experimental results show that it can effectively remove the spikes of the ultrasonic rangefinder.

  • 최근 광대역 서비스에 대한 소비자들의 욕구가 차츰 증가하고 있고 대상콘텐츠도 데이터와 음성 및 비디오까지 포함된 멀티미디어 서비스로 변화함에 따라, 통신서비스 제공업체들은 이에 대한 해결책을 찾는 것이 지상과제가 되었다. xDSL, 케이블 모뎀, 광랜 등 엑세스 네트워크가 잘 발달되어 있는 국내에서도 멀티미디어 서비스의 최종 수신 장치가 될 TV, PC, 오디오 기기 및 전화기 등에까지 네트워크를 연결하기 위해서는 댁내에서 또 다른 홈 네트워크를 구성해야 하는 상황이다. 이러한 홈 네트워크를 가능하게 하는 기술로는 홈 RF, 무선랜, 블루투스 등 무선 홈 네트워크 기술과 IEEE1394, 이더넷, 홈 PNA, 전력선통신과 같은 유선 홈 네트워크 기술로 나눌 수 있다. 무선 홈 네트워르 기술의 경우, 댁내에서의 반사와 감쇄 등의 영향에 의한 음영지역이 존재하는 단점이 있고 또 RF단을 구현해야 하므로 시스템 가격이 올라가게 된다. IEEE1394, 이더넷, 홈 PNA 같은 유선 홈 네트워크기술의 경우에는 댁내 통신을 위해 새로운 선을 포설해야 하는데 이를 위해서는 막대한 시설 투자비가 들어가게 된다. 이 막대한 투자비는 홈 네트워크 구축에 많은 시간이 걸리게 하는 요인이 될 뿐만 아니라, 일반 사용자들이 서비스를 이용하기에는 가격적으로 부담스럽게 된다. 전력선통신 (PLC: Power Line Communication) 은 전기를 공급하는 전력선에 흐르고 있는 상용주파수 50/60Hz의 저주파 전력신호에 고주파 신호를 활용하여 데이터를 실어 나르는 통신기술이다. 집안 곳곳 이미 포설되어 있는 전력선이 이미 하나의 네트워크를 구성하고 있기 때문에 번거롭고 값비싼 추가 배선작업 없이 바로 네트워킹이 가능하다. 이와 같은 이유로 고속 PLC는 설치 용이성, 접근성, 속도 및 비용부분 등에서 경쟁기술에 비하여 여러 장점을 가지고 있다. 젤라인은 국내 전력선통신 표준을 만족하는 24Mbps 고속 전력선통신 칩을 기반으로 다양한 전력선 채널환경 하에서 최적의 통신을 보장하는 전력선 통신시스템을 제공하고 있으며, 이를 소개하고자 한다.

  • A scanning radar is exploited widely such as for ground surveillance, disaster rescue, and etc. However, the range resolution is limited by transmitted bandwidth and cross-range resolution is limited by beam width. In this paper, we propose a method for super-resolution radar imaging. If the distribution of reflectivity is sparse, the distribution is called sparse signal. That is, the problem could be formulated as compressive sensing problem. In this paper, 2D super-resolution radar image is generated via reweighted ${\ell}_1-Minimization$. In the simulation results, we compared the images obtained by the proposed method with those of the conventional Orthogonal Matching Pursuit(OMP) and Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR).

A Study on Clutter Cancellation in a Weather Radar System Using a Phased Array Antenna (위상배열 안테나를 활용한 기상 레이다 시스템에서의 클러터 제거에 관한 연구)

  • Since there are very strong clutter returns in airborne and ground weather radars used for the detection of low altitude weather hazards, the reliable weather data cannot be extracted from the weak Doppler weather signal without cancellation of these strong clutter returns. However, the clutter cancellation in Doppler frequency domain is not an easy task since even the fixed clutter returns not to mention the moving clutter can have Doppler shifts due to the antenna rotation and operational environment. Therefore, it was shown in this paper a simple array antenna system can be used for the efficient clutter cancellation in the spatial domain. The weather signal, various moving and fixed clutters were modelled and simulated to prove the performance of this adaptive array system. Also, the degree of accuracy in pulse-pair estimates of a weather radar was compared and analyzed from the simulated weather data.

  • Modeling of artificial targets in Synthetic Aperture radar (SAR) mainly simulates radar signals reflected from the faces and edges of the 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) model with a ray-tracing method, and modeling of the clutter on the Earth's surface uses a method of distinguishing types with similar distribution characteristics through statistical analysis of the SAR image itself. In this paper, man-made targets on the surface and background clutter on the terrain are integrated and made into a three-dimensional (3D) point cloud scatterer model, and SAR image were created through computational signal processing. The results of the SAR Stripmap image generation of the actual automobile based SAR radar system and the results analyzed using EM modeling or statistical distribution models are compared with this 3D point cloud scatterer model. The modeling target is selected as an bridge because it has the characteristic of having both water surface and ground terrain around the bridge and is also a target of great interest in both military and civilian use.

  • In this paper, a stationary wavelet transform method is proposed for improving the altitude control performance of quadrotor UAV using an ultrasonic rangefinder. A ground tests are conducted using an ultrasonic rangefinder that is much used for vertical takeoff and landing. An ultrasonic rangefinder suffers from signal's spike due to specular reflectance and acoustic noise. The occurred spikes in short time span need to be analyzed at both sides time and frequency domain. It was known that stationary wavelet transform is the transferring solution to the problem occurred by down sampling from DWT also more efficient to remove noise than DWT. The analyzed spikes of the ultrasonic rangefinder using a stationary wavelet transform and experimental results show that it can effectively remove the spikes of the ultrasonic rangefinder.

  • Tracking and detecting targets by the microwave seeker is affected by the clutter reflecting from the earth's surface. In order to detect retreating targets in look-down scenario, which appear in the sidelobe clutter (SLC) region, in the microwave seeker of high pulse repetition frequency (HPRF) mode, it is necessary to understand statistical characteristics of the surface SLC. Statistical analysis of SLC has been conducted for several kinds of the surface using data obtained by the captive flight test of the microwave seeker in the HPRF mode. The probability density function (PDF) fitting is conducted for several kinds and conditions of the surface. PDFs and PDF parameters, which best describe statistical distribution of the SLC power, are estimated. By using the estimated PDFs and PDF parameters, analyses for setting the target-detection thresholds, which give a desired level of target-detection false alarm probability, are made. These analysis materials for statistical characteristics of SLC power and the target-detection threshold can be used in various fields, such as development of a target-detection method, the constant false alarm rate processing.

  • Anomalous propagation echo is a kind of abnormal radar signal occurred by irregularly refracted radar beam caused by temperature or humidity. The echo frequently appears in ground-based weather radar. In order to improve accuracy of weather forecasting, it is important to analyze radar data precisely. Therefore, there are several ongoing researches about identifying the anomalous propagation echo all over the world. This paper conducts researches about a classification method which can distinguish anomalous propagation echo in the radar data using naive Bayes classifier and unique attributes of the echo such as reflectivity, altitude, and so on. It is confirmed that the fine classification results are derived by verifying the suggested naive Bayes classifier using actual appearance cases of the echo.
