Case Study of Applying DO-278A for Advanced Surface Movement Guidance & Control System (DO-278A 표준을 적용한 A-SMGCS 개발 사례 연구)

  • This paper proposes a case study of applying to DO-278A, which is a software development standard of ground aviation equipment in communication, navigation, surveillance/air traffic management (CNS/ATM) domain, in order to develop software of Advanced surface movement, guidance and control system (A-SMGCS). It explains considerations to application of DO-278A standard, discusses how to tailor processes or requirements specified in DO-278A in detail, and explain tailored results. And it also summary problems or issues occurred during application of DO-278A, which can be appeared when DO-278A is applied to for the first time by any development part. These are required considerations in order to reduce trial and error. To the conclusion, it explains lessons learned from application of DO-278A and suggest how to solve these problems or issues.

A Research on Quality Improvement of Software-based Video Teleconferencing on the Tactical Communication Networks Less Than 1Mbps (1Mbps 이하 전술통신망에서의 소프트웨어 방식 화상회의 품질향상 연구)

  • This paper researched the operation methods of software video teleconferencing on the tactical communication networks under 1Mbps. The tactical communication networks have limited bandwidths, frequent data losses and transmission delays due to the unstable networks. In addition, the bandwidth for video teleconferencing has to be much smaller since the Army Tactical Command Information System(ATCIS) has priority of using the bandwidth. This paper analyzed such restrictions of tactical communication networks, presented some methods to improve the quality of the software video teleconferencing on the tactical communication networks and their actual experiments as well. It is applied in the first place to re-transmit the lost packets and to reduce the image size for the data traffic. Nothing is better for the video teleconferencing than to provide the bandwidth enough for every user. However, on the tactical communication networks with the limited bandwidth, video teleconferencing can be improved by optimizing the compression rate of image data, the number of image frames, the audio codec and the usage of audio compensation data.

Development of a Software for Re-Entry Prediction of Space Objects for Space Situational Awareness (우주상황인식을 위한 인공우주물체 추락 예측 소프트웨어 개발)

  • The high-level Space Situational Awareness (SSA) objective is to provide to the users dependable, accurate and timely information in order to support risk management on orbit and during re-entry and support safe and secure operation of space assets and related services. Therefore the risk assessment for the re-entry of space objects should be managed nationally. In this research, the Software for Re-Entry Prediction of space objects (SREP) was developed for national SSA system. In particular, the rate of change of the drag coefficient is estimated through a newly proposed Drag Scale Factor Estimation (DSFE), and is used for high-precision orbit propagator (HPOP) up to an altitude of 100 km to predict the re-entry time and position of the space object. The effectiveness of this re-entry prediction is shown through the re-entry time window and ground track of space objects falling in real events, Grace-1, Grace-2, Tiangong-1, and Chang Zheng-5B Rocket body. As a result, through analysis 12 hours before the final re-entry time, it is shown that the re-entry time window and crash time can be accurately predicted with an error of less than 20 minutes.

Design of the Crane position control System using GPS and USN (GPS와 USN을 이용한 크레인 위치제어 시스템 설계)

  • In this paper, we study and simulate the suggested position control system using GPS and USN to replace the existing control system of a crane. For the correct approach, the position control system of a crane is divided into the control system of the ground station and the mobile station The hardware is comprised of GPS receiving module to receive the position control data of a crane from GPS satellites, bluetooth communication module for the data communication between the ground station and the mobile station, supersonic sensor module for a precise position control of a crane, motor to replace a crane roller, embedded MCU(ATmega128L) and so on. In here, an embedded MCU controls GPS receiving module, bluetooth communication module and supersonic sensor module. The Software is comprised of three programs. Three programs are the program to filter GGA output part in a receiving data of GPS receiving module, the driving program for supersonic sensor module, the digital map program to monitor a crane location. From the simulation results, it is demonstrated that the proposed system has the capability of crane position control with 1cm precision.

  • 현재 우리 군에서는 첨단과학무기를 이용한 전투력을 신속히 집중, 전환시키고 효과적으로 통합 운용해야하는 각급 제대의 지휘관 및 참모의 지휘통제능력 향상을 위하여 첨단 컴퓨터장비를 이용하여 시뮬레이션 기법을 통한 워게임 모델을 개발하여 이를 이용한 훈련을 실시하고 있다. 이 워게임 모델중 지상전투의 가장 기본이 되는 근접전투 시뮬레이션은 미국에서 개발도입된 "COBRA" 시스템을 이용하고 있으나 한국실정에 맞는 시스템으로 확장 및 유지보수가 어렵고, 상위시스템의 서브시스템으로만 운영되고있어 자체 교육훈련 및 전투분석을 위한 단독시스템으로 운영이 어려운 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 극복하고, 방대한 양의 지식을 효율적이고 효과적으로 표현할 수 있으며 시스템의 확장 및 유지보수가 용이하고 우리실정에 적합한 전투 훈련을 실시하도록 지원하는 워게임(근접전투) 지원용 멀티미디어 전문가시스템을 개발하였다. 본 논문에서 개발한 전문가시스템은 쌍방이 부대들의 근접전투를 실시할 때 실전에서 나타날 수 있는 가능한 모든 상황의 데이터를 이용하여 전투상황을 분석하며, 기존의 획일적이고 단순한 형태로 결과를 판정하던 것을 전투원의 사기, 체력, 전투한계 등 심리적 요소까지 고려함으로써 새로이 변화되는 전쟁양상에 쉽게 적응할 수 있는 확장성 및 유지보수가 용이하며 시스템 단독으로 운영하여 반복적으로 전투를 분석하고 교육훈련을 실시하도록 함으로써 실전적이고 실질적인 근접전투 워게임지원이 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 전문가 시스템을 개발함에 있어서 지식베이스 모듈, 추론엔진 모듈 및 설명 모듈은 전문가 시스템 개발도구인 Smart Elements를 이용하여 구축하였으며, 사용자 인터페이스 모듈은 멀티미디어 저적도구인 툴북 3.0을 이용하였으며, 마지막으로 전체적인 모듈은 API를 이용 통합하여 하나의 응용소프트웨어를 생성하였다.
