The fundamental issue of information retrieval in the Internet-based society is closely interrelated with the characteristics of language selected. The McCune-Reischauer Romanization system is not only considered as the international standard for romanizing Korean language, it is also familiar to the majority of the Korean material users internationally. McCune-Reischauer system is adopted by the ISO, UNGEGN, ALA, LC, British PCGN, BL, and the relevant agencies in Europe, Canada and Australia etc. Encouraging for switching to the new Romanization system(2000) would result in complications among the library's catalogs and online databases, causing confusion for both staffs and readers. This paper analysed that the international efforts and rules for Romanizing Korean language materials and recommended direction for bibliographical issues.

제10회 아카시아 토론회가 본 협회(KIRA) 주최로 오는 9월 13일부터 17일까지 인터컨티넨탈호텔 국제회의장에서 개최된다. "아시아에서의 기술, 전통 그리고 건축"을 주제로 열리는 이번 토론회에는 우리나라를 비롯해 중국, 일본 등 아시아지역 16개 회원국 대표단과 행사관계자, 그리고 일반참가자 등 약 1천여명이 참가해 아시아지역 건축사들간 유대를 강화하고 주제 토론을 통한 기술교류 및 건축정보를 교환하게 된다. 5박6일간의 일정으로 진행될 이번 행사는 토론회와 함께 공식행사로 아카시아 이사회와 교육위원회 회의가 열리며 아시아건축상 시상식과 각종 전시회, 건축탐방, 한국건축소개 등 다양한 부대행사가 열린다. 특히 "건축문화의 해"를 맞아 개최되는 이번 ARCASIA Forum 행사에는 지명도가 높은 외국 건축사들이 상당수 우리나라를 찾을 것으로 예상돼 많은 건축인들의 관심이 모아지고 있으며 아울러 한국에서의 대규모 국제행사 개최를 계기로 침체돼 있는 우리 건축계에 활력을 불어넣고 한국건축의 위상을 한단계 끌어 올리는 기회가 될 것으로 보인다. 그동안 우리 협회는 88년아카시아대회를 제외하고는 국제관련 행사가 주로 외국에서 열렸던 관계로 직접적으로 행사에 관계했던 인사나 일부 관심있는 국내 건축사 이외에는 아카시아의 성격과 역할 등에 대한 이해가 부족했고 그만큼 관련행사에 대한 관심도가 적었던 것 같다. 그러나 국제사회는 국가간의 개방과 정책에 따라 사회 전 분야에 걸쳐 새로운 시도가 이루어지고 있으며, 건축관련부문은 민간사업뿐 아니고 정부 조달시장까지도 개방되어 외국 업체가 참여하고 있는 실정이다. 건축설계 또한 시장개방의 압력을 직간접적으로 받고 있을 뿐 아니라 그것이 점차 현실로 다가오고 있다. 이같은 상황에서 우리 건축계는 지속적인 국제교류를 통해 세계 건축시장이 어떻게 변화되고 있는지를 확인하고 그에 대한 정보를 토대로 적절한 대처가 필요한 상황이다. 그동안 아카시아는 회원국의 현안에 대해 서로의 정보교환과 토론이 있었으며, 아시아 각국의 입장을 대변하여 서방세계와 의견교환을 통해 지속적인 대화를 해 왔다. 이와 관련하여 본지에서는 ARCASIA Forum의 서울개최를 계기로 ARCASIA에 대한 독자 여러분의 이해를 돕고자 아카시아의 연혁과 성격 그리고 관련행사 및 회의구성 등을 요약하여 소개하고 또한 지난 85년 이후 우리 협회가 한국대표로 참가해 활동한 내용 등을 정리해 이번호부터 게재코자 한다.

In 1959, Satomura used spectral Doppler ultrasound to express the velocity of red blood cells according to time change, and Kato defined a zero-base line that could tell the direction of blood flow, making it possible to know the direction of blood flow. This became the basis for the widely used classifications of Triphasic, Biphasic, and Monophasic. However, the above classification has limitations that confuse users with the meaning and timing of use in a clinical environment. As a result, the American Society for Vascular Medicine (SVM) and the Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) A consensus document on Doppler waveform analysis was declared by the joint committee. This study tried to review this consensus and to suggest nomenclature and modifiers that can be used in the domestic vascular ultrasound clinical field. The joint committee formed by SVM and SVU recommended that the use of the triphasic waveform and the biphasic waveform be used as a multiphasic waveform rather than being used due to the ambiguity of interpretation. In addition, it was agreed to name the hybrid-type waveform, which is a monophasic and high-resistance waveform, which has always been a problem of interpretation in a clinical environment, as an intermediate resistive waveform. In addition, in order to increase the communication efficiency between the interpreter and the sonographer, waveform analysis was classified into a main descriptor and a modifier, and it was recommended to use a single nomenclature by unifying various synonyms. It is expected that this literature review will provide accurate arterial spectral Doppler waveform interpretation and an agreed-upon nomenclature to radiologists performing vascular ultrasound examination in clinical practice, and will be utilized as basic data that can contribute to the improvement of public health.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to establish accreditation systems of reliable educational materials for nutrition and dietary life which could be used in schools, workplace, and health promotion. Methods: The study was conducted from April 2011 to October 2011. Literature reviews, institutional visits, and telephone interviews were conducted. Expert meetings and advisory councils were held in order to receive feedback on development of the accreditation systems. A survey was conducted for the accreditation procedures on 143 professionals, including professors, researchers, health and medical experts, teachers, nutrition teachers, dietitians, and clinical nutritionists. Results: The final procedure of the developed accreditation system was finalized as follows: 1) receiving application twice per year 2) complete desk review (written evaluation) by three reviewers within two months, 3) board review (all board members) and decision, and 4) notification of results. The accreditation system is set for printed materials, web-site, and materials for activities. The certificate and accreditation mark is issued to the final certified educational materials. Expiration date is established only for the web-site form. The accreditation length lasts for two years, and can be extended by renewal application. Conclusion: The dietary and nutrition related materials, which are certificated by this accreditation system, could impart reliable information and knowledge to both learners and educators, and help them in effective selection of educational materials. Therefore, this accreditation system might be expected to increase satisfaction for teaching and learning about nutrition and healthy dietary life.
