Real-Time Traffic Information Collection Using Multiple Virtual Detection Lines (다중 가상 검지선을 이용한 실시간 교통정보 수집)

  • ATIS(Advanced Traveler Information System) is the system to offer a real-time traffic information or traffic situation for the benefit of the client. One of traffic information collection methods for ATIS research is the method of image analysis. The method is divided into two : one is the method to set two loop detectors at the area and the other is the method detecting the vehicle through an image analysis. In this paper, we propose a real-time traffic information collection system to mix two methods. The system installs multiple virtual detection lines and traces the location of the vehicle. Use of multiple virtual detection lines supplements the defect of the method of loop detectors. And we drew a representative pixels in the detecting area and used it for image analysis. This is to solve the problem of time delay which increases as the image size increases. We gathered traffic images and experimented using the system and got 92.32% of detection accuracy.

Design of Antenna for Intelligent Detection Sensor (지능형 주차검지센서용 안테나 개발)

  • In this paper, we proposed a miniaturized folded inverted F antenna with ISM-band (center frequency : 447 MHz) for mounting in intelligent parking sensor. First, to mount the antenna in the intelligent parking sensor module (72 mm × 70 mm) with limited size, a folded inverted F antenna was designed at low frequency 447 MHz (wavelength λ : 670 mm) of the ISM-band. As a result, it resonates in the ISM band and obtains suitable characteristic with a -10 dB bandwidth of 13 MHz (2.9%). In addition, the H-plane pattern by the vertical and horizontal elements represents the omni-directional patterns from which the null point is removed, and the E-plane has directivity in a specific direction. Finally, it is suitable as and antenna for vehicle management in parking lots.

GIS Interoperability Issues for ITS Services : Map Datum and Location Referencing

  • Two GIS and/or OGIS issues for ITS interoperability have been proposed and reviewed with some implications to Korean setting. They are location referencing and ITS map datum. The former must support ITS communication and data sharing. Therefore, an introduction of location referencing and other related issues have been addressed along with the Oak Ridge National Lab.'s (ORNL) location referencing scheme. The latter, proposed by ORNL, is a planned network of anchor points across the nation, that could potentially serve as a positional reference for ITS application (Gottsegen, 1997). It is composed of a set of nodes and links in a standard non-plannar network at a coarse scale for the entire nation for referencing purposes. To provide case of real time traffic information and to guarantee the seamless interoperability, we do need to develop the core ITS map datum as a national infrastructure, and the location referencing scheme should also be either developed or borrowed and localized to meet the domestic needs. Some institutional issues are also addressed along with the future research agenda.

  • 다사용자계층 통행배정(Multiple User Class Assignment) 문제란 교통망을 이용하는 통행자들이 이질적인 통행계층으로 구성된 경우, 이들 각 계층의 통행수요를 교통망에 배정하는 문제를 의미한다. 이는 기존 통행 배정모형들이 모든 통행자의 통행특성이 동질적이라고 가정함으로서 발생하는 불합리한 통행배정 결과를 완화시키기 위한 방법이다. 또한, 최근 지능형교통체계(Intelligent Transportation Systems, ITS)사업에서 교통정보제공시스템이 구현될 예정임에 따라, 교통정보를 제공받는 계층과 그렇지 못한 계층간의 영향을 분석하거나 혼잡통행료부과 등과 같은 교통관리전략을 정확히 평가하기 위해서 다사용자계층 통행배정모형에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 그러나, 다사용자계층 통행배정모형의 경우, 사용자간의 상호영향으로 통행비용함수의 1차 편미분행렬(Jacobian matrix)이 비대칭(Asymmetric)이 되어 동등 수리최소화문제(Equivalency mathematical Minimization program)로 구성할 수 없고 또한 수치적으로 풀기가 어렵다는 문제가 있다. 본 연구는 이런 문제점을 극복할 수 있는 모형식과 알고리듬을 제시코자 한다. 본 연구에서 제시된 모형은 2가지 특징이 있다. 먼저, 각 사용자 계층간의 상호영향을 모형내에 반영하며, 기종점쌍간의 통행시간변화에 따른 수요변화를 고려한다는 점이다. 이를 위하여 변동부등모형(Variational Inequality Model. VI)으로 문제를 구성하며, 이에 대한 해석 알고리듬도 제시한다. 또한, 변동부등모형으로 구축된 다사용자계층 모형이 다사용자계층 균형조건과 동일함을 보여주는 동등성조건(Equivalency condition)도 제시한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 Radio Frequency Identification(RFID)를 이용하여 도로의 Internet of Things(IoT)를 실현하는 기술을 구상한다. RFID태그를 도로에 일정한 간격으로 설치하고, 자동차에 설치된 RFID 리더기가 태그에서 정보를 읽고 실시간으로 중앙통제센터에 보낸다. 이 정보를 분석하여 교통량, 사고유무, 사고위치 등을 파악하여 교통문제나 2차사고를 예방한다. 이 기술의 목적은 현재 상용화된 Global Positioning System(GPS)기술이 감지하기 힘든 환경이나 Vehicle to Vehicle(V2V)가 가지는 해킹의 문제점을 보안하여 안전한 운전환경을 제공하는데 있다.

  • The Republic of Korea aims to complete the commercialisation of Level 4+ cooperative autonomous driving in 2027. It also plans to include V2X OBU in the K-NCAP evaluation items. Therefore, communication performance safety evaluation criteria for V2X OBU need to be established, and an OBU with necessary functions is needed to develop V2X communication performance safety evaluation technology for vehicles. In this study, we implemented a V2X OBU control board prototype that can be used to develop a V2X communication performance safety evaluation technology for Level 4+ autonomous vehicles, and confirmed that the control board prototype works normally.

  • The objective of this paper is to help organizations select a suitable telecommunications media and dynamic route guidance system (DRGS) for an intelligent transport system (ITS) taking into account both cost and functionality. The media selection criteria and wireless communications for an ITS are discussed along with various DRGS. We describe which kind of telecommunication media and DRGS are suitable. The strategy of an ITS in Korea is described in regards to telecommunication media and DRGS.

Development of a Bi-objective Cycle-free Signal Timing Model Using Genetic Algorithm (유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 이중목적 주기변동 신호시간 결정 모형 개발)

  • This paper documents the development of a bi-objective(minimizing delays and Queue lengths) cycle-free signal timing length model using Genetic Algorithm. The model was embodied using MATLAB. the language of technical computing. A special feature of this model is its ability to concurrently manage delays and queue lengths of turning movement concurrently. The model produces a cycle-free signal timing(cycles and green times) for each intersection on the cycle basis. Appropriate offsets could be also accomplished by applying cycle-free based signal timings for respective intersections. The model was applied to an example network which consists of four intersections. The result shows that the model produces superior signal timings to the existing signal timing model in terms of managing delays and queue lengths of turning movements.

A Comprehensive Method to Impute Vehicle Trajectory Data Collected in Wireless Traffic Surveillance Environments (무선통신기반 교통정보수집체계하에서의 차량주행궤적정보 결측치 보정방안)

  • Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS) enables road users to enhance efficiency of their trips in a variety of traffic conditions. As a significant part of ITS, information communication technology among vehicles and between vehicles and infrastructure has been being developed to upgrade current traffic data collection technology through location-based traffic surveillance systems. A wider and detailed range of traffic data can be acquired with ease by the technology. However, its performance level falls with environmental impediments such as large vehicles, buildings, harsh weather, which often bring about wireless communication failure. For imputation of vehicle trajectory data discontinued by the failure, several potential existing methods were reviewed and a new method to complement them was devised. AIMSUN API(Application Programming Interface) software was utilized to simulate vehicle trajectories data and missing vehicle trajectories data was randomly generated for the verification of the method. The method was proven to yield more accurate and reliable traffic data than the existing ones.

A Study on Revising the National ITS Architecture (국가 ITS 아키텍쳐 정비방안에 관한 연구)

  • Korean government has developed the 1st version of the National ITS Architecture in 1999 and utilized it as the framework for ITS planning, design, and standardization. The National Architecture now needs to be revised to accommodate environmental changes in ITS market and advancement of ITS core technologies. This study evaluates the current version of the architecture and suggests the directions for revision for a new national ITS architecture. The two most popular methodologies for architecture development-the process-oriented approach and the object-oriented approach-were reviewed, and the process-oriented approach was selected for new architecture development. The concept of the national architecture was then newly defined based on evaluation of the existing architecture. The new National ITS Architecture is suggested to be composed of ITS user services, logical architecture, physical architecture, and project architecture. This study must be followed by actual architecture development efforts and supporting policy actions for successful deployment of the new National ITS Architecture.
