Integrated interpretation of multi-geophysical data has been continuously used in terms that it has provided more confident information than the result from single-geophysical data. Especially, geostatistical integration has its own superiority that it is possible to deal with spatial characteristics as well as physical properties of survey data and the process of integration is clear. This paper further extends the previous work of geostatistical inversion for integrated interpretation. In this paper, we propose a new way of dealing with the case that the multi-geophysical data do not share the measurement range. According to the geostatistical kriging, the closer between the measurement points, the smaller kriging variance we get, and vice versa. We used this spatial properties as a weighting value to the process of geostatistical inversion for the geophysical data integration. An objective way to integrate different kinds of geophysical data measured at different ranges is provided with this algorithm.
Evaluation of three-dimensional ore body modeling has been performed by applying the geostatistical integration technique to multiple geophysical (electrical resistivity, MT) and geological (borehole data, physical properties of core) information. It was available to analyze the resistivity range in borehole and other area through multiple geophysical data. A correlation between resistivity and density from physical properties test of core was also analyzed. In the case study results, the resistivity value of ore body is decreased contrast to increase of the density, which seems to be related to a reason that the ore body (magnetite) includes heavy conductive component (Fe) in itself. Based on the lab test of physical properties in iron mine region, various geophysical, geological and borehole data were used to provide ore body modeling, that is electrical resistivity, MT, physical properties data, borehole data and grade data obtained from borehole data. Of the various geostatistical techniques for the integrated data analysis, in this study, the SGS (sequential Gaussian simulation) method was applied to describe the varying non-homogeneity depending on region through the realization that maintains the mean and variance. With the geostatistical simulation results of geophysical, geological and grade data, the location of residual ore body and ore body which is previously reported was confirmed. In addition, another highly probable region of iron ore bodies was estimated deeper depth in study area through integrated modeling.
We introduce a new acoustic parameter for the classification of seafloor sediments from chirp sonar acoustic profiling data. The acoustic parameter is defined as a derivative of the unwrapped phase of the Fourier transform of acoustic profiling data. Consequently, it represents the characteristics of attenuation by dissipative dispersion in sediments. And we estimated acoustic properties by geoacoustic modeling using Chirp data obtained from the different sedimentary facies. Our classification results, when compared with the results of analysis of sampled sediments, show that the acoustic parameter discriminates sedimentary facies and bottom hardness. Thus the method in this paper is expected to be an effective means of geoacoustic modeling of the seafloor.

A multi-geophysical surveys were carried out at Hwasan caldera which is located in Euisung Sub-basin. In order to overcome the limitation of the previous studies, dense gravity data and magnetotelluric (MT) data were obtained and integrated. In this study, the independent inversion models from gravity and MT method were integrated using a correlation and classification approaches to map geologic structure. The results of integration analysis indicated followings; 1) pyroclastic rocks around the central area of Hwasan caldera have lower density and resistivity when compared with those of neighborhood regions and are extended to around 1 km in depth, 2) the high resistivity and density intrusive igneous rocks are imaged around the ring fault boundary, and 3) the basement structure, which has low resistivity and high density, 5 km deep inferred by integration analysis. Also, for integration analysis, we suggested Structure Index method. This method is analyzed using Type Angle and Type Intensity, which are calculated by the spatial correlation of the physical properties. In this study, we can perform the integration analysis effectively using Structure Index method.
In order to delineate the soft ground distribution, an integrated geostatistical analysis was performed using the MASW (Multichannel Analysis of Surface Wave) which has the information of overall region and CPTu (Piezo Cone Penetration Test) which provides the direct information of the measuring point of the ground. MASW results were known to have close relationship with the ground stiffness. This correlation was confirmed through the comparison of MASW data obtained from two survey lines to the laboratory test with extracted soil samples. 3D physical property distribution in the study area was acquired by geostatistical integrated analysis with the data of tip resistance ($q_c$) and pore pressure (u) from the CPTu obtained at 6 points within the study area. The integrated analysis was conducted by applying the COSGSIM (Sequential Gaussian Co-Simulation) technology which can carry out the simulation in accordance with the spatial correlation between the MASW results and both tip resistance and pore pressure. Besides the locations of CPTu, borehole investigations were also conducted at two different positions. As a result, the N value of SPT and borehole log could be secured, so these data were used for the analysis of the geotechnical engineering accuracy of the integrated analysis result. For the verification of reliability of the 3D distribution of tip resistance and pore pressure secured through integrated analysis, the geotechnical information gained from the two drilling areas was compared, and the result showed extremely high correlation.
A variety of geophysical well loggings have been conducted to investigate the geological characteristics for basaltic volcanic area in Jeju Island. Specially, there is no precedent case study using geophysical well loggings in Jeju Island. And so, the proper understandings for geological features of Jeju Island are the key to interpret geophysical well logs. Presently, seawater intrusion monitoring systems have been constructed for systematic development and conservation of groundwater resources. As the results of geophysical well loggings in this seawater intrusion monitoring boreholes, the responses of well logs for saturated zone have distinctly identified basalt sequences. In particular, neutron logging, gamma-gamma (density) logging, and resistivity logging have well exhibited the characteristics of lava flows and lithologic boundaries. In hyalocastite, porosity is high, and resistivity is low. Eventually, geophysical well logs are useful for securing sustainable development of groundwater in Jeju Island in that it has identified the characteristics of geological responses.
The horizontal to vertical ratio technique in spectral domain is a common useful technique to estimate empircal site transfer function. The technique, originally proposed by Nakamura, is porposed to analyse the surface waves in the micortremor records. The purpose of this paper is to estimate spectral ratio using observed data at the seismic stations in Korean Peninsula from the Fukuoka earthquake including many aftershocks. The results show that most of the stations have fairly good amplification factors. However, some of the stations show that very high amplification factors at narrow high frequency band. Those stations which have very high amplification factors seem to do some kind of mechanical consideration for quality observation.
In this paper, we will introduce rock physics modeling technique, which interrelate reservoir properties with seismic properties, and apply the technique to the Donghae-1 gas reservoir. From well-log data analysis, we obtained velocityporosity (Vp-$\phi$) relations for each formation. These relations can used to predict porosity from seismic data. In addition, we analyzed permeability data, which were obtained from core measurements and computational rock physics simulations. We then obtained permeability-porosity ($\kappa-\phi$) relations. Combining $\kappa-\phi$ with Vp-$\phi$ relations, we finally present quantitative Vp-$\kappa$ relations. As to Vp-$\phi$ modeling, we found that the degree of diagenesis and clay contents increase with depth. As to Vp-$\kappa$ relations, though \kappa-\phi relations are almost identical for all formations, we could obtain distinct Vp-$\kappa$ relations due to Vp-$\phi$ variations. In conclusion, the rock physics modeling, which bridges between seismic properties and reservoir properties, can be a very robust tool for quantitative reservoir characterization with less uncertainty.
Structures show the phenomena of deformation and lowering of function with time-lapse by artificial environments and changes of geotechnical conditions or accumulation of initial deformation elements. This study aims the structural assessment of cultural property, Chum-Sung-Dae, located in Kyeongjucity, Korea. It was built about 1,300 years ago, and has undergone deformation and ground-subsidence with time-lapse. Non-destructive evaluation techniques were applied to the Chum-Sung-Dae, to protect
it from survey. Because of this reason, 3D precise laser scanning surveying system was applied to measure the exact size of Chum-Sung-Dae, displacement and declining angles. Geophysical exploration also was applied to study the subsurface distribution of geotechnical parameters or physical properties. Natural frequencies were measured from real and model of Chum-Sung-Dae to study the dynamic characteristics of vibration and/or earthquake load and stiffness of structures.

Jeju Island is mainly composed of basaltic lava flows and subordinate amounts of volcaniclastic sedimentary rocks. Jeju Province operates the monitoring wells for seawater intrusion problems around Jeju Island to evaluate of groundwater resources in coastal area. Various surveys and monitoring have been performed in boreholes, and also conventional geophysical well loggings conducted to identify basalt sequences and assess seawater intrusion problems. Various conventional geophysical well logs, including radioactive logs, electrical log, caliper log, and temperature and conductivity log and heat-pulse flowmeter log were obtained in 29 boreholes. The results of geophysical well loggings for saturated rocks are interesting and consistent. Natural gamma logs are useful in basalt sequences to sedimentary interbeds, unconsolidated U formation, and seoguipo formation with higher natural gamma log regardless of saturated or unsaturated basalts. Neutron logs are very effective to discriminate among individual lava flows, flow breaks, and sedimentary interbeds in saturated formation. In hyalocastite, porosity is high and resistivity is low, and we think that hyalocastite is a major pathway of fluid flow. In trachybasalt, porosity has a wide range and resistivity is high. In sedimentary interbeds, unconsolidated U formation and seoguipo formation, porosity is high and resistivity is low. The temperature logs in eastern area in Jeju are useful to interpret the hydrogeological unit and evaluate seawater intrusion in Suan area.
