Evaluation of improvement effect on the spatial-temporal correction of several reference evapotranspiration methods (기준증발산량 산정방법들의 시공간적 보정에 대한 개선효과 평가)

  • This study compared several reference evapotranspiration estimated using eight methods such as FAO-56 Penman-Monteith (FAO PM), Hamon, Hansen, Hargreaves-Samani, Jensen-Haise, Makkink, Priestley-Taylor, and Thornthwaite. In addition, by analyzing the monthly deviations of the results by the FAO PM and the remaining seven methods, monthly optimized correction coefficients were derived and the improvement effect was evaluated. These methods were applied to 73 automated synoptic observation system (ASOS) stations of the Korea Meteorological Administration, where the climatological data are available at least 20 years. As a result of evaluating the reference evapotranspiration by applying the default coefficients of each method, a large fluctuation happened depending on the method, and the Hansen method was relatively similar to FAO PM. However, the Hamon and Jensen-Haise methods showed more large values than other methods in summer, and the deviation from FAO PM method was also large significantly. When comparing based on the region, the comparison with FAO PM method provided that the reference evapotranspiration estimated by other methods was overestimated in most regions except for eastern coastal areas. Based on the deviation from the FAO PM method, the monthly correction coefficients were derived for each station. The monthly deviation average that ranged from -46 mm to +88 mm before correction was improved to -11 mm to +1 mm after correction, and the annual average deviation was also significantly reduced by correction from -393 mm to +354 mm (before correction) to -33 mm to +9 mm (after correction). In particular, Hamon, Hargreaves-Samani, and Thornthwaite methods using only temperature data also produced results that were not significantly different from FAO PM after correction. It can be also useful for forecasting long-term reference evapotranspiration using temperature data in climate change scenarios or predicting evapotranspiration using monthly or seasonal temperature forecasted values.

  • Pervaporation process using membrane is newly emerging energy saying and cost effect process instead of distillation process. Especially, in pertrochemical industry, pervaporation process is a strong candidate to substitute the conventional energy consuming processes because that petrochemical industry has much energy consuming separation processes, many azeotrope mixtures to separate and needs to compact space to install new process units. Aromatic/aliphatic separation including benzene/cyclohexane mixture, olefin/paraffin separation, xylene isomer separation, reactive monomer recovery and sulfur compound removal from gasoline have been inversitigated for the application of pervaporation membrane process by many researchers and are under commercializing.

빗각 증착법(Oblique Angle Deposition)으로 코팅된 금속 및 화합물 박막의 특성

  • 빗각 증착법(oblique angle deposition; OAD)을 이용하여 코팅된 알루미늄과 질화 티타늄 박막의 특성을 분석하였다. OAD는 기판과 증발원이 수평하게 위치하는 일반적인 코팅방법과 다르게 기판이 증발원과 수평하게 놓이지 않고 일정한 각으로 기울여 코팅하는 방법을 의미한다. 코팅 시 기판이 증발원과 수평하지 않으면 입사되는 증기가 일정한 각도를 유지하기 때문에 코팅되는 박막의 구조가 달라지고 이로 인해서 물리적 특성도 변하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 음극아크와 스퍼터링을 이용하여 각각 질화 티타늄과 알루미늄을 빗각으로 코팅하여 박막의 미세구조와 물성 변화를 관찰하였다. 스퍼터링을 이용하여 빗각 코팅된 알루미늄의 경우, 박막의 구조가 치밀해지고 표면 조도가 낮아지는 현상이 관찰되었다. 알루미늄 박막의 치밀도와 표면조도 향상은 가시광선 영역의 반사율을 높이는 효과가 있었다. 강판에 알루미늄을 코팅하여 염수분무를 실시한 결과, 치밀한 조직으로 인해서 내식성이 향상되는 결과를 보였다. 음극 아크를 이용하여 빗각 코팅된 질화 티타늄 박막에서 기판과 수직하지 않고 일정한 각도로 기울어진 주상 조직이 관찰되었다. 기판에 수직하게 성장된 질화 티타늄 박막과 비교하여 기울어진 주상 구조의 박막은 경도가 높아지는 특성 변화가 관찰되었다. 빗각 증착법을 이용하여 박막의 조직, 물성 등을 제어할 수 있었다. 박막에 다양한 기능을 부여하는 코팅방법으로 빗각 증착법이 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • Chitosan composite membranes were prepared by casting chitosan solution onto porous polysulfone ultrafiltration membrane. Composite membranes to separate water from aq. ethanol solution were chemically crosslinked by using various crosslinking agent, glyoxal, terephthalaldehyde and glutaraldehyde. The morphology of surface crosslinked chitosan composite membranes were examined by scanning electron microscopy. ATR-FTIR was employed to confirm the crosslinking mechanism of surface crosslinked chitosan composite membranes. In the case of glutaraldehyde, optimum separation factor and decreasing trend of flux were shown.

  • The present study shows some results of developing evaporative heat exchangers with mini-channels. Heat exchangers with three different water paths were manufactured and tested to compare performances of cooling and pressure drop. Among the three types of heat exchangers, Type 2 with full-etching was proved to be the best in the cooling performances for considered operating conditions, and thus it is recommended to adopt Type 2 for its simplicity of production and outstanding performance. However, Type 1 was shown to be better when it is operated at a high air inlet temperature condition. The developed evaporative heat exchanger will be installed in Environmental Control Systems(ECSs) for aerial vehicles, and it can be used effectively in case an ECS is not only limited in its weight and volume but also required to absorb heats without supplying water (or a coolant) for a certain period of time.

Analysis of Drying Efficiency for Circulating and Falling Movements on Indirected Drying Process of Food Waste (음식물류폐기물 간접건조과정에서의 순환 및 낙하이동에 따른 건조효율 평가)

  • Indirected heating dryer is used as one of the food waste treatment technologies for the production of the drier material supplied to the recycling facilities or end user. This study investigated the effect on drying efficiency for the operation of rotating screw with the circulating and falling movements on indirected drying process of food waste. The screw operating condition showed higher drying efficiency despite of the shorter drying time compared to the screw non-operating condition. The moisture content decreased to 14.4% from the initial moisture content of 77.1% after drying 5 hours in the screw operating condition. On the other hand, in the screw non-operating condition, the moisture content decreased slightly to 35.6% after drying 16 hours. During the drying process, variations of the water evaporation rate and particle size showed different tendencies depending on the moisture content regions. In the higher moisture content region above the glue zone(moisture content of about 50%-60%), the particle size increased and the water evaporation rate reached the highest peak. In the range of glue zone, the particle size maximized while the water evaporation rate decreased sharply. In the lower moisture content region below the glue zone, the water evaporation rate and particle size both decreased at the same time. The particle size distribution was widely ranged from 25.0mm to 0.25mm in the screw operating condition while it was narrowly distributed in the screw non-operating condition from 25.0mm to 3.56mm, especially highly concentrated to 25.0mm. It was regarded that the hygroscopic, capillary and gravitational water evaporated more easily from the intra-particle during the circulating and falling movement caused by the rotating of the screw and the difference of the cohesional force of water within intra-particle depending on the moisture content regions. Comparing the effect of the circulating and falling movement on drying efficiency, the water evaporation rates per time and per weight of dry solid in the screw operating condition were higher about 364% and 356%, respectively, than those of the screw non-operating condition.

  • 빗물관리시설 설치 시 물순환개선 효과를 정량적으로 표현하기 위해서는 시설물별로 저류효과와 침투효과를 평가할 수 있다. 또한 유역 규모에서의 물순환 개선 효과를 평가하기 위해서는 유역 출구지점에서 하천 유황의 변화와 유역 전체에서 지하수위의 변화 등을 평가하여 개선 효과를 평가할 수 있다. 빗물관리시설의 설치에 따른 물순환개선 효과를 평가하기 위해서는 설치 전화 후에 침투량, 증발산량, 유출량, 지하수위 등에 대한 관측이 수행되어야 하며 이러한 관측에 근거하여 개선효과를 평가하는 것을 기본으로 하여야 한다. 만일 관측을 할 수 없는 조건에서는 물순환 해석을 수행할 수 있는 모형을 적용하여 개선효과를 평가할 수 있다.
