This study was investigated the pollutant load, contamination properties, pollution condition of the fine parts of tributary, the influence of Nakdong river watershed and etc. in the tributaries. The contaminated tributaries were that among the Kumho and Nam river or were too far from site of water quality monitoring stations, regularly. As a result, the water quality level was almost similar between Nam and Kumho River, except for certain parameter including TN(Total Nitrogen), Chl-a(Chlorophyll-a) and SS(Suspended Solid) in which Kumho river were 20~120%. The point discharge load(kg/day) and load density ($kg/day/km^2$) of tributaries were different the pollution level according to the flow-rate ($m^3/sec$) and stream influence area($km^2$), and the difference of these was observed highly at Nam river. Specific contamination investigation of tributaries in Nam and Kumho river watershed was conducted from two to nine points of the fine parts of tributaries depending on the confluence sites and shapes. This result observed high at the Dalseocheon and Uriyeongcheon, respectively. Beside, the pollutant load contribution rate of Nakdong watershed was high about 10% at the Dalseocheon and Uiryeongcheon. This was due to the differences of the environments about the industrial complex, metropolis residence property, agricultural cultivation, livestock pen and the downstream of non-point source.

Water quality data including flow rates and BOD/COD/T-N/T-P/SS/TOC concentrations in Nakdong river tributaries were analyzed to determine priority management areas using 699 data sets from 195 locations in 2015. It was pointed out that the coefficients of variation, the ratio of the standard deviation to the mean, for the concentrations and loading rates of BOD, T-P, and TOC in each monitoring location were so large that average values of water quality monitoring data might be not appropriate to determine the priority management areas among all 195 monitoring stations in Nakdoing river. Therefore we suggested two evaluation methods using each water quality data independently. In the first method the excess numbers of the BOD, T-P, and TOC concentrations comparing to the water quality standards in the medium-sized management areas in Nakdong river was evaluated for each monitoring station. In the second method the percentile ranks of the loading rates of the BOD, T-P, and TOC were obtained for each monitoring data. The two groups of the priority management areas determined by each method were compared and the water quality characteristics in Nakdoing river were investigated.

This study has performed comparative analysis on characteristics of contaminated 35 tributaries on seasonal variation/point discharge load/pollutant distribution of water quality factors(8) in order to understand the effect of the watershed in Nakdong River Basin. As a results, the water quality of $BOD_5$(Biochemical Oxygen Demand), Chl-a(Chlorophyll a) and Fecal E. Coli shows II grade at tributaries of more than 50% without COD(Chemical Oxygen Demand), TP(Total Phosphate), TOC(Total Oxygen Carbon) and TN(Total Nitrogen) factors. The specific discharge(Q) were occupied about 54.4% (19 sites) as $0.05m^3/sec/km^2$ value. Among these results, the contaminant level of Dalseocheon, Hyeonjicheon, Seokkyocheon 1, Uriyeongcheon and Dasancheon was also high, which has to consider a discharged pollutant load(kg/day). The 35 major tributaries of Nakdong River were included in 7 mid-watershed, such as Nakdong Waegwan, Geumho River, Nakdong Goryung, Nakdong Changnyung, Nam River, Nakdong Milyang, Nakdong River Hagueon. Especially, the discharged pollutant load of Nam River and Geumho River also was high according to the amount of discharge such as Kachang dam, Gongsan dam and Nam river dam. Seasonal difference of the water quality factors such as $BOD_5$, TN, SS and Q was observed largely, on the other hand the TP and Chl-a was not. This is guessed due to the precipitation effect of site, biological and physicochemical degradation properties of pollutant and etc. The co-relationship between the seasonal difference and water quality factors was observed using a Pearson correlation coefficients. Besides, the Multiple Regression analysis using a Stepwise Regression method was conducted to understand the effect between seasonal difference and water quality factors/regression equations. As a result, the Multiple Regression analysis was adapted in the spring, summer and autumn without the winter, which was observed high at spring, summer and autumn in the order COD/TP, Chl-a/TOC, TOC/COD/$BOD_5$ water quality factors, respectively.

In this study, the major 38 tributaries in Nakdong River were monitored for flow rate and water quality in order to understand the characteristics of the watershed and to find improvement plan. The flow rate and water quality for each target tributary were evaluated based on the monitoring data in 2013~2014 using a statistical package SPSS-22.0. In addition, the tributary grouping method was conducted using a $BOD_5$ concentration/flowrate and TP concentration/flowrate monitoring data. The average values of $BOD_5$, $COD_{Mn}$, TP and TOC concentrations in Gumicheon, Gyeonghocheon, Jincheoncheon, Gisegokcheon, Yonghacheon and Yonghocheon located at Nakdong Waegwan and Nakdong Goryung watershed were high and in the grade of III or IV (5~8 mg/L). The Pearson correlation coefficients of TOC with $BOD_5$, $COD_{Mn}$, and TP were greater (r=0.8, p<0.01) than those of the other water quality parameters (12 species). The tributaries with high values of water quality parameters ($BOD_5$ > 3.0 mg/L, TP > 0.1 mg/L) and flowrate (Q > $0.1m^3/sec$) were selected for improving water quality according to the stream grouping method. Five tributaries (Gumicheon, Gisegokcheon, Yonghacheon, Yeongsancheon, Mijeoncheon and Yonghocheon) were classified as Group I, which require polices and plans for water quality improvement.
Recently, Looking at the watershed management policy in Korea, It is preparing to manage sub-watershed and tributary from the government-led mainstream management, such as the selection of algae focused management tributary, application of tributary-TMDLs. At this point, this study is attempted to propose the residents participatory watershed management methods that is possible daily, voluntary and customized management in the sub-watershed. As a results, through this study, we found out the importance of sub-watershed unit based watershed management because of the pollutants in blind spot. It is the prerequisite for watershed management to arrange practicable bottom-up approach that these investigated contents can be reflected in the various planning.
In this study, TOPSIS(Techniques for Order Performance by Similarity to Ieal Solution) was used to evaluate the installation points of water quality monitoring networks in 34 streams of the Nakdong River watershed. The Nakdong River System has been measuring water quality and flow in 195 local streams since 2011. In particular, the 34 key management points are areas with many pollutants and poor water quality, requiring continuous water quality management. For the selection of points requiring management, 10 indicators were selected for evaluation, and the selected indicators were standardized and weighted using the entropy method. As a result of weight calculation, the presence or absence of a nearby measuring network received the greatest weight, and the average water quality and presence of an industrial complex obtained the highest weight. The evaluated data are judged to be the research results necessary for the establishment of a new water quality measurement network in the Nakdong River system and continuous water quality management in tributaries.
