Separation of Tantalum from Electronic Components on Laptop Printed Circuit Board Assembly (노트북 인쇄회로기판 전자부품으로부터 탄탈럼의 분리)

  • The study to obtain tantalum concentration from electronic components (ECs) on Printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) of laptop was conducted. Electronic components on laptop PCBA were detached from boards by using self-developed experimental apparatus. The detached electronic components were sieved and 93.2 wt.% of tantalum capacitors were concentrated from the size interval from 2.80 mm to 6.35 mm. The tantalum capacitors were pulverized by hammer mill and electrodes (anode and cathode) were removed from the grinding products by using magnetic separators under the magnetic force of 300 Gauss. Finally, tantalum concentrate was concentrated from the magnetic separator products by using Knelson concentrator, and the maximum efficiency of 76.9% was achieved under the operating condition of bowl rotating speed of 200 rpm, and fluidizing water flowrate of 7 L/min. The grade and recovery of Ta concentrate under the condition were 81.1% and 78.8%, respectively.

Failure Analysis of Ferroelectric $(Bi,La)_4Ti_3O_{12}$ Capacitor in Fabricating High Density FeRAM Device (고밀도 강유전체 메모리 소자 제작 시 발생하는 $(Bi,La)_4Ti_3O_{12}$ 커패시터의 불량 분석)

  • 고밀도 FeRAM (Ferroe!ectric Random Access Memory) 소자를 개발하기 위해서는 강유전체 물질을 이용한 안정적인 스텍형의 커패시터 개발이 필수적이다. 특히 $(Bi,La)_4Ti_3O_{12}$ (BLT) 강유전체 물질을 이용하는 경우에는 낮은 열처리 온도에서도 균질하고 높은 값의 잔류 분극 값을 확보하는 것이 가장 중요한 과제 중의 하나이다. 불행히도, BLT 물질은 a-축으로는 약 $50\;{\mu}C/cm^2$ 정도의 높은 잔류 분극 값을 갖지만, c-축 방향으로는 $4\;{\mu}C/cm^2$ 정도의 낮은 잔류 분극 값을 나타내는 동의 강한 비등방성 특성을 보인다. 따라서 BLT 박막에서 각각 입자들의 크기 및 결정 방향성을 세밀하게 제어하는 것은 무엇보다 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 16 Mb의 1T/1C (1-transistor/1-capacitor) 형의 FeRAM 소자를 BLT 박막을 적용하여 제작하였다. 솔-젤 (sol-gel) 용액을 이용하여 스핀코팅법으로 BLT 박막을 증착하고, 후속 열처리 공정을 RTP (rapid thermal process) 공정을 이용하여 수행하였다. 커패시터의 하부 전극 및 상부 전극은 각각 Pt/IrOx/lr 및 Pt을 적용하였다. 반응성 이온 에칭 (RIE: reactive ion etching) 공정을 이용하여 커패시터를 형성시킨 후, 32k-array (unit capacitor: $0.68\;{\mu}m$) 패턴에서 측정한 스위칭 분극 (dP=P*-P^) 값은 약 $16\;{\mu}C/cm^2$ 정도이고, 웨이퍼 내에서의 균일도도 2.8% 정도로 매우 우수한 특성을 보였다. 그러나 단위 셀들의 특성을 평가하기 위하여 bit-line의 전압을 측정한 결과, 약 10% 정도의 커패시터에서 불량이 발생하였다. 그리고 이러한 불량 젤들은 매우 불규칙적으로 분포함을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 불량 원인을 파악하기 위하여 양호한 젤과 불량이 발생한 셀에서의 BLT 박막의 미세구조를 분석하였다. 양호한 셀의 BLT 박막 입자들은 불량한 셀에 비하여 작고 비교적 균일한 크기를 갖고 있었다. 이에 비하여 불량한 셀에서의 BLT 박막에는 과대 성장한 입자들이 존재하고 이에 따라서 입자 크기가 매우 불균질한 것으로 확인되었다. 또 이러한 과대 성장한 입자들은 거의 모두 c-축 배향성을 나타내었다. 이상의 실험 결과들로부터, BLT 박막을 이용하여 제작한 FeRAM 소자에서 발생하는 불규칙한 셀 불량의 주된 원인은 c-축 배향성을 갖는 과대 성장한 입자의 생성임을 알 수 있었다. 즉 BLT 박막을 이용하여 FeRAM 소자를 제작하는 경우, 균일한 크기의 입자 및 c-축 배향성의 입자 억제가 매우 중요한 기술적 요소임을 알 수 있었다.

  • $Pb(Zr,Ti)O_3$ (PZT) 강유전체 박막은 높은 잔류 분극 (remanent polarization) 특성 때문에 현재 강유전체 메모리 (FeRAM) 소자에 적용하기 위하여 가장 활발히 연구되고 있다. 그런데 PZT 물질은 피로 (fatigue) 및 임프린트 (imprint) 등의 장시간 신뢰성 (long-term reliability) 특성이 취약한 단점을 가지고 있다. 이러한 신뢰성 문제를 해결할 수 있는 효과적인 방법 중의 하나는 $IrO_2$, $SrRuO_3$(SRO) 등의 산화물 전극을 사용하는 것이다. 많은 산화물 전극 중에서 SRO는 PZT와 비슷한 pseudo-perovskite 결정구조를 갖고 격자 상수도 비슷하여, PZT 커패시터의 강유전 특성 및 신뢰성을 향상시키는데 매우 효과적인 것으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 PZT 커패시터에 적용하기 위하여 SRO 박막을 증착하고 이의 전기적 특성 및 미세구조를 분석하고자 하였다. 또 실제로 SRO 박막을 상부전극과 PZT 사이의 버퍼 층 (buffer layer)으로 적용한 경우의 커패시터 특성도 평가하였다. 먼저 다결정 SRO 박막을 $SiO_2$/Si 기판 위에 DC 마그네트론 스퍼터링 법 (DC magnetron sputtering method)으로 증착하였다. 그 다음 이러한 SRO 박막의 미세구조, 결정성 및 전기적 특성이 증착 조건들의 변화에 따라서 어떤 경향성을 보이는지를 평가하였다. 기판 온도는 $350\;{\sim}\;650^{\circ}C$ 범위에서 변화시켰고, 증착 파워는 500 ~ 800 W 범위에서 변화시켰다. 또 Ar+$O_2$ 혼합 가스에서 산소의 혼합 비율을 20 ~ 50% 범위에서 변화시켰다. 이러한 실험 결과 SRO 박막의 전기적 특성 및 미세 구조는 기판의 증착 온도에 따라서 가장 민감하게 변함을 관찰할 수 있었다. 다른 증착 조건과 무관하게 $450^{\circ}C$ 이상의 온도에서 증착된 SRO 박막은 모두 주상정 구조 (columnar structure)를 형성하며 (110) 방향성을 강하게 나타내었다. 가장 낮은 전기 저항은 $550^{\circ}C$ 증착 온도에서 얻을 수 있었는데, 그 값은 약 $440\;{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ 이었다. SRO 버퍼 충을 적용하여 제작한 PZT 커패시터의 잔류 분극 (Pr) 값은 약 $30\;{\mu}C/cm^2$ 정도로 매우 높은 값을 나타내었고, 피로 손실 (fatigue loss)도 $1{\times}10^{11}$ 스위칭 사이클 후에 약 11% 정도로 매우 양호한 값을 나타내었다.

Damage Analysis of Manganese Crossings for Turnout System of Sleeper Floating Tracks on Urban Transit (도시철도 침목플로팅궤도 분기기 망간크로싱의 손상해석)

  • The turnout system of the sleeper floating tracks (STEDEF) on urban transit is a Anti-vibration track composed of a wooden sleeper embedded in a concrete bed and a sleeper resilience pad under the sleeper. Therefore, deterioration and changes in spring stiffness of the sleeper resilience pad could be cause changes in sleeper support conditions. The damage amount of manganese crossings that occurred during the current service period of about 21 years was investigated to be about 17% of the total amount of crossings, and it was analyzed that the damage amount increased after 15 years of use (accumulated passing tonnage of about 550 million tons). In this study, parameter analysis (wheel position, sleeper support condition, and dynamic wheel load) was performed using a three-dimensional numerical model that simulated real manganese crossing and wheel profile, to analyze the damage type and cause of manganese crossing that occurred in the actual field. As a result of this study, when the voided sleeper occurred in the sleeper around the nose, the stress generated in the crossing nose exceeded the yield strength according to the dynamic wheel load considering the design track impact factor. In addition, the analysis results were evaluated to be in good agreement with the location of damage that occurred in the actual field. Therefore, in order to minimize the damage of the manganese crossing, it is necessary to keep the sleeper support condition around the nose part constant. In addition, by considering the uniformity of the boundary conditions under the sleepers, it was analyzed that it would be advantageous to to replace the sleeper resilience pad together when replacing the damaged manganese crossing.

Relationships between Micronutrient Contents in Soils and Crops of Plastic Film House (시설재배 토양과 작물 잎 중의 미량원소 함량 관계)

  • Micronutrient status in soils and crops of plastic film house and their relationship were investigated. Total 203 plastic film houses were selected (red pepper, 66; cucumber, 63; tomato, 74) in Yeongnam region and soil and leaf samples were collected. Hot-water extractable B and 0.1 N HCl extractable Cu, Zn, Fe, and Mn in soil samples and total micronutrients in leaf samples were analyzed. Contents Zn, Fe, and Mn in most of the investigated soils were higher than the upper limits of optimum level for general crop cultivation. Contents of Cu in most soils of cucumber and tomato cultivation were higher than the upper limit of optimum level, but Cu contents in about 30% of red pepper cultivation soils were below the sufficient level. Contents of B in most soils of cucumber and tomato were above the sufficient level but in 48% of red pepper cultivation soils B were found to be deficient. Micronutrient contents in leaf of investigated crops were much variable. Contents of B, Fe, and Mn were mostly within the sufficient levels, while in 71% of red pepper samples Cu was under deficient level and in 44% of cucumber samples Cu contents were higher than the upper limit of sufficient level. Contents of Zn in red pepper and cucumber samples were mostly within the sufficient level but in 62% of tomato samples Zn contents were under deficient condition. However, any visible deficiency or toxicity symptoms of micronutrients were not found in the crops. No consistent relationships were found between micronutrient contents in soil and leaf, and this indicates that growth and absorption activity of root and interactions among the nutrients in soil might be important factors in overall micronutrient uptake of crops. For best management of micronutrients in plastic film house, much attention should be focused on the management of soil and plant characteristics which control the micronutrient uptake of crops.

Changes in Carotenoid and Anthocyanin Contents, as well as Antioxidant Activity during Storage of Lettuce (저장에 따른 상추의 카로티노이드와 안토시아닌 함량 및 항산화능 변화)

  • Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) is an important dietary leafy vegetable that is primarily consumed as a fresh or salad material. It has a number of cultural varieties with green and/or red color. Carotenoids and anthocyanins are known to be responsible for these two colors, respectively. In this study, carotenoid and anthocyanin contents were determined to evaluate the stability of these functional pigments during storage at home. Analyses were carried out at the beginning, 3, 6, 9, and 12 days after harvest. In the course of storage at room temperature, total carotenoid levels rapidly decreased, and the decrease was found to be greatest during the first 3 days. Meanwhile, carotenoid level slightly changed within the first 9 days at $4^{\circ}C$ after harvest. This result suggests that carotenoids in green lettuce are more stable when refrigerated than at room temperature. Meanwhile, total anthocyanin content in red lettuce did not significantly decrease during storage at room temperature and $4^{\circ}C$, which indicates that anthocyanins have higher stability during storage compared with carotenoids in green lettuce. Anthocyanin extract exhibited higher antioxidant activity than carotenoid extract based on 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) radical scavenging assay. Antioxidant activity of anthocyanin extract may also be estimated directly by the presence of another potent hydrophilic antioxidant compound, which is ascorbic acid in this extract. In addition, anthocyanin extract showed about a 5-fold higher amount of anthocyanins than carotenoids in the carotenoid extract. The high correlation between carotenoid content with ABTS radical scavenging activity indicates that ABTS assay is more suitable than 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging assay for detecting antioxidant capacity of carotenoid extract from lettuce.

Effects of Vitamin E on the Metallothionein Synthesis in Streptozotocin-induced Diabetic Rats (Streptozotocin유발 당뇨쥐에 있어서 Metallothionein 합성에 미치는 비타민 E의 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of vitamin E on the synthesis of the metallothionein in the liver of streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats. Sprague-Dawley male rats($220{\pm}10mg$) were randomly assigned to one control and three STZ-diabetic groups. Diabetic groups were classified to STZ-0E(vitamine E free diet), STZ-40E(40mg vitamin E/kg of diet) and STZ-400E(400mg vitamin E/kg of diet) according to the level of vitamin E supplementation. Blood glucose levels of STZ-diabetic rats were three times higher than that of control. The contents of vitamin E in liver were lower signifciantly STZ-0E, STZ-40E groups by 50%, 36% compared with that of control. Lipid peroxide values(LPO) in liver were higher 5.6 and 2.5 times in STZ-0E and STZ-40E groups than that of control. Plasma cortisol levels were higher STZ-0E and STZ-40E groups compared with those of control, but cortisol levels were lower significantly in STZ-400E group compared with those of the STZ-0E and the STZ-40E groups. The plasma insulin levels were lower in all three STZ-diabetic group compared with that of control, but were not affected by the level of dietary vitamin E. The metallothionein (MT) contents in liver, kidney and small intestine were five times higher in STZ-0E, STZ-40E and STZ-400E compared with that of control, but STZ-400E group was lower in the MT contents in tissues compared with that of STZ-40E group. Zn-MT peak in STZ-diabetic rats liver increased than that of control by Sephadex G-75, and Zn-MT peak divided into MTI and MTII peaks by DEAE Sephadex A-25 column chromatography. The present results indicate that STZ-induced diabetic rats are more sensitive to oxidative stress, leading to the acceleration of lipid peroxidation process, which can be more promoted low level of dietary vitamin E. And the result may that increase synthesis of MT induced in the liver of diabetic rats increased so it can be sure that the diabetes is one of the MT induce factor by free radical generation. And high vitamin E supplementation reduced total MT contents of liver, kidney and small intestine and the peak of purified Zn-MT. Through the results of these experiments, we can conclude that MT might be the free radical scavenger.

Changes in Taste Compounds during Onion Vinegar Fermentation (양파초 발효과정 중의 정미성분 변화)

  • Prior research has attempted to develop a method for fermentation of onion vinegar to satisfy customer quality standard. Onion wine (OW) and onion vinegar (OV) were produced by alcoholic and acetic fermentation of onion extracts (OE) using Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Acetobacter pasteurianus, and their taste compounds (non-volatile organic acids, non-protein N compounds, and free sugars) were determined. Main components of non-volatile organic acids were malic acid (50.1%) and citric acid (26.9%) in OE, whereas malic acid (28.1%), acetic acid (20.8%), lactic acid (20.1%), citric acid (13.3%), and succinic acid (12.0%) were detected in OW. Total concentrations of non-volatile organic acids in OV were 4,612.0 mg/100 g, which was 3.9 and 2.3 times higher than those of OE and OW, respectively. Non-volatile organic acids except malonic acid and acetic acid were reduced during acetic fermentation. Non-protein N compounds increased 4.23-fold ($41,526.8{\mu}g/100g$) during alcohol fermentation, and urea content was the highest of non-protein N compounds at $33,816{\mu}g/100g$. The reduced values in OV might be used as a nutritious element of Acetobacter pasteurianus. Free sugars (glucose, fructose, and sucrose) were detected in OE, whereas only fructose was absent in OW and OV.

Production of L-Lactic Acid from Soluble Starch by Enterococcus sp. JA-27. (Enterococcus sp. JA-27에 의한 가용성 전분으로부터 L형 젖산의 생산)

  • Lactic acid bacteria with amylolytic and acid producing activities can ferment starch directly to lactic acid thereby producing a monomer for the production of biodegradable poly lactic acid (PLA). In this study, the strain producing L-lactic acid from soluble starch was isolated from Nuruk. The isolated strain was identified as Enterococcus sp. through its morphological, cultural, biochemical characteristics as well as the 16S rDNA sequence analysis, and named Enterococcus sp. JA-27. Enterococcus sp. JA-27 produced exclusively L-lactic acid from soluble starch as a carbon source. The optimal conditions for the maximum production of L-lactic acid from Enterococcus sp. JA-27 were 30 C, pH 8, 1.5 % soluble starch as a substrate and 3.5 % tryptone as a nitrogen source, 0.1 % $K_2$$HPO_4$, 0.04 % $MgSO_4$. $7H_2$O, 0.014 % $MnSO_4$$.$4$H_2O$, 0.004% $FeSO_4$$.$$7H_2$O. Batch and fed batch culture were carried out and the former was more effective. L-Lactic acid production in the optimum medium was significantly increased in a 7 L jar fermenter, where the maximum L-lactic acid concentration was 3 g/L. For the purification of lactic acid in fermented broth, two stage ionexchange column chromatographies were employed and finally identified by HPLC.

Changes in Volatile Constituents of Zingiber officinale Roscoe Rhizomes During Storage (생강 저장 중의 향기성분 변화)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the changes in volatile constituents concerning with the flavor of the green ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) during storage in underground pit ($15^{\circ}C$, RH 95%). And the constituents of essential oil of etiolated shoots formed on the mother rhizomes during the five months storage in the dark under same conditions were compared with those of mother rhizomes. The essential oils of Korean domestic ginger (Bong-dong cultivar) were isolated by simultaneous steam distillation and extraction method (SDE). Then the compositions of the essential oils were analysed by GC and GC-MS spectrometry. The major compounds of essential oil from the fresh rhizomes were zingiberene, $citronellol+{\beta}-sesquiphellandrene$, ${\beta}-phellandrene$, camphene, geranial, ${\gamma}-bisabolene$, ar-curcumene+geranyl acetate, ${\alpha}-pinene$, ${\beta}-gurjunene$, limonene and neral. The content of monoterpene hydrocarbons increased with a concomitant lowering in the amounts of sesquiterpene hrdrocarbons and oxygenated sesquiterpenes during storage of rhizomes although contents of the oxygenated monoterpens changed little or slightly during the storage. During the storage the content of such monoterpenes as camphene, ${\beta}-phellandrene$ and citral (neral and geranial) increased whereas the content of such sesquiterpenes as zingiberene and $citronellol+{\beta}-sesquiphellandrene$ decreased. The composition of shoot oil differed from that of mother rhizome oil in having higher content of terpene hydrocarbons and also in the higher content of bornyl acetate, ${\beta}-gurjunene$ and ar-curcumene+geranyl acetate and lower in citral (neral and geranial).
