Seventy-four pre-service elementary teachers who were enrolled at an University of Education located in mid-continent of Korea participated in a survey. Results of the survey was analyzed using Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) method. It was found that perception of importance was significantly higher than that of performance at all seven domains of the TPACK. IPA matrix extracted from the survey indicates that Technological Content Knowledge (TCK), Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK), and TPACK which are related to technology especially need to develop. Results of this study also show the necessity to support pre-service teachers so that they can have opportunities to develop and use technology-related knowledge and skills. This study especially implies that technological knowledge needs to be integrated with content and pedagogical knowledge when implementing curriculum and educational programs for pre-servie elementary teachers.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore whether or not there is a relationship between doctor's awareness of clinical nutrition service and needs for a clinical dietitian. Methods: A cross-sectional survey design was used. The research was carried out by using questionnaires that had been specifically designed for the study. The research was conducted from September to October, 2013 for 311 doctors at 43 hospitals (with over 400 beds). Frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and bootstrapping analysis were conducted using SPSS 21.0. Results: 'Implementation of clinical nutritional service' (p < 0.001) and 'usefulness on clinical nutrition service' (p < 0.001) were found to be correlated with 'importance of clinical nutrition service' as an independent variable. The correlation between 'importance of clinical nutrition service' as a mediating variable and 'needs for clinical dietitian' as a dependent variable was also confirmed (p < 0.001). The results of the bootstrapping test showed that the mediating effect of 'importance of clinical nutrition service' was significant. The indirect effect value between 'implementation of clinical nutrition service' and 'needs for clinical dietitian' was 0.040, indirect effect value between 'usefulness on clinical nutrition service' and 'needs for clinical dietitian' was 0.095. Conclusion: The frequency of providing clinical nutritional services, the quality of clinical nutritional services, and the degree of implementation of clinical nutritional services were found to be important for positive perception of clinical nutrition services by doctors. Therefore, proper provision of clinical nutrition services and effective therapeutic effects will be continuously highlighted, which will increase the awareness of the physician and ultimately increase the demand for clinical nutrition service.

  • This study aimed at analyzing the educational needs of home economics teachers for food literacy cultivation education in secondary school home economics. A total of 192 home economics teachers were surveyed about their perceptions of importance and performance of food literacy education content categories and elements, and their priorities were identified. Among the 38 content elements presented, home economics teachers recognized that the current performance level was significantly lower than that of the importance over 34 content elements. Based on the Borich educational needs assessment and the Locus for Focus Model, we identified five content elements with 'very high' educational needs ('food security/food sovereignty', 'reducing food-related waste', 'food waste management and recycling', 'food-related waste recycling', and 'country of origin information'), and four content elements with 'high' educational needs ('genetically modified food', 'ethical food consumption', 'food additives', and 'eco-friendly agricultural products'). These results indicate that dietary education in secondary school home economics should emphasize both the production and disposal of food. The findings of this study suggest implications for the needs for a new dietary education in secondary school home economics that allows students to learn all stages of food system. These results can also be used as a basis for dietary education for cultivating food literacy in secondary school home economics education.

Fifty-seven percent of transcultural mothers had not participated in child healthcare education before. There was no significant difference between importance and implementation of child healthcare education. In Borich analysis, "Safety accident prevention", "Toilet training", and "Growth and development" were in the 25th percentile. In Locus for Focus, "Safety accident prevention", "Bathing", "Baby massage", "Toilet training", and "Weaning food" were in the HH area. In comparison with importance of child healthcare education, multicultural mothers, and persons in charge of child healthcare, multicultural mothers had significantly higher scores than persons in charge of child healthcare. Therefore, in order to meet multicultural mothers' educational needs for child healthcare education, child healthcare information should be developed.
