  • The purpose of this study was to suggest educational development plans that should provide better small business education by solidifying it and maximizing its effectiveness in order to reinforce the competitiveness of small business. As the results of the analysis, 15 essential tasks were suggested. The conclusions drawn from the study were as follows: First, SEDA should establish a practical road map in a long-term basis, and precede small business education by coping with social changes. Second, SEDA should expand the inclusive capacity that builds comprehensively and nationally the network with EHRD, its local branches and Small Business Centers. Third, it was quite suggestive that SEDA should follow up one of major strategies, that is optimizing curriculum, by developing proper curriculum based on small business life cycle and approaching it in a systematic way.

  • This paper proposes to strengthen the technological capabilities of small and medium enterprises on the establishment of a component standardization system and the localization of parts, which is the basis of the marine wind industry. The wind industry is a natural energy industry that countries around the world are paying attention to, and continues to invest and research and development. In particular, most companies are focusing on research and investment in component development, the smallest unit. Therefore, it is believed that we should focus on the three most fundamental and underlying wind industry, an eco-friendly energy industry that could determine the fate of the nation in the future. First, an understanding of the roadmap for standardization should be prioritized. Second, it is necessary to establish a domestic standardization of international standards according to domestic conditions. Third, localization of high value-added single products and components should be achieved by lowering dependence on overseas imports. In the future, it is hoped that the wind industry, centered on small and medium-sized enterprises, will become a solid-based national industry and be completed as a national infrastructure leading the global wind market.

  • Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) are being faced with rapid changes in their business environments due to evolution of technologies and innovation in societal eco-systems. Particularly, dynamic interactions between such environments and enterprise activities have become significant, so technology planning, which is a process of identifying appropriate directions regarding product and technology development, has received much attention to cope with such dynamics proactively. However, SMEs typically have limits in performing independent, strategical and systematical technology planning activities due to the lack of human, material and financial resources. This paper proposes the development of a product roadmapping method so that SMEs carry out efficient technology planning activities with interconnections of external business environments. The present work provides product roadmap templates that directly accommodate the influence of business environments on the product's system and its associated super/sub-systems with the use of external environment analysis techniques including TRIZ methodology, PEST and 5Forces analysis. These templates are useful to efficiently forecast the directions of product's development and evolution, which arise from changes in external environments. Consequently, the present work enables SMEs to flexibly cope with the era of the next R&D generation, which pursues value creation through mutual interconnection between business environments and technology development.

  • Current status of the domestic food industry and major issues are reviewed, and some problems derived from the R&D aspect are analyzed. Particularly, the role of the public sector and the direction of R&D are presented in order to enhance the vitality of the food industry and strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium-sized businesses. At first, the government needs to provide a consistent R&D roadmap through macroscopic coordination, and public institutes and private companies should come up with practical and concrete collaborative measures. It is also necessary to set the investment direction for food R&D in the public sector, taking into account the strategic importance of core technology and the global level difference, targeting on basic research and public platform technology. More efforts to discover agendas focused on food technology and link them to large-scale R&D projects are urgently needed to solve national and social problems through food research.
