Lightweight Design of an Outer Tie Rod Using Meta-Model Based Optimization Technique (메타모델기반최적화를 이용한 아우터타이로드의 경량화 설계)

  • The outer tie rod is one of the part of steering system, the optimization process was executed to find the lightweight design. The inner tie rod was considered in the optimum design of an outer tie rod. it could be closer to the test condition than in the case of considering outer tie rod only. The aluminum forging material was considered as a weight reduction proposal. The target of optimization was the shape of the minimum weight to resist at the load of buckling. RSM and Kriging interpolation method were applied as a optimization method to consider the nonlinear shape optimization problem. Then, 16.3%, 16.6% of weight reduction was obtained from the result comparing with that of the initial model. The results of meta model optimization was compared with that of finite element method. The error values of buckling load estimation were 2.6%, 2.04%. and those of weight estimation were 0.17%, 0.13%. Therefore, it seemed that the result of Kriging model could be obtained closer to optimum value than that of RSM model.

  • The battery system of an electric vehicle suffers from the problem the battery output and the service life decrease at low temperature. A Positive Temperature Coefficient(PTC) heater is used for maintaining room temperature but is heavy due to a complicated insulation structure. The larger the weight is, the lower the fuel economy of the electric vehicle is. On the other hand a induction heater have a simple insulation structure, which is effective in weight reduction and has a rapid temperature rise. The induction heater consists of an LC resonance circuit. The larger the capacitance is, the higher the price and weight is. Therefore, the inductance should be increased to reduce the capacitance. Also, the main heat source of the induction heater is coreloss. So, it is important to optimize inductance and coreloss in terms of electromagnetic field design. In this paper, the inductance and the coreloss according to the change of the induction heater structure were optimized through the Taguchi method and Finite Element Method(FEM) simulation.

A Study on the Optimization for Brokering Between Cargos and Ships (선박을 이용한 화물 운송 중개 최적화 방안 연구)

  • This paper presents a study on the optimization for brokering between cargos and ships for future e-logistics. The primary contribution of this research is that we establish an optimization model by formalizing the criteria for the brokering such as time constraints, weight constraints, and preference values between cargos and ships. Another important contribution is that we not only investigate the complexity and the tractability of the optimal brokering problem but present how to evaluate the performance of the optimization program through an experiment. We first derive the preference values between cargos and ships using the time and the weight constraints. These preference values between each pair of cargos and ships are assigned to corresponding binary decision variables as coefficients in the objective function. The optimization model selects pairs of cargos and ships in a way that the sum of the preference values is maximized while satisfying given constraints. Experiment shows that the Davis-Putnam based optimization program finds optimal solutions in reasonable time for the problems with less than 90 decision variables.

  • 본 논문에서는 최근의 진화적 구조최적화(ESO) 전략을 회전축의 형상최적화에 적용하였으며, 각 계산 스텝마다 단위 유한요소의 크기를 변경함으로써 기존의 방법보다 빠르고 정확한 최적형상에 수렴하는 새로운 방법을 제시하였다. 축요소의 직경을 시스템 설계변수로 하였으며, 축중량의 감소, 공진배율(Q-factor)의 감소 및 충분한 위험속도의 분리여유를 갖도록 목적함수를 설정하였다. 불평형응답 및 굽힙응력의 구속조건을 부가하였으며, 목적함수에 대한 설계변수의 감도해석을 수행하였다. 전동기축계에 대한 적용 결과로부터 주파수와 동적 구속조건하의 로터베어링 시스템에 대한 축 형상 최적화에 ESO법이 효과적으로 이용될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Optimization of the Truss Structures Using Member Stress Approximate method (응력근사해법(應力近似解法)을 이용한 평면(平面)트러스구조물(構造物)의 형상최적화(形狀最適化)에 관한 연구(研究))

  • In this research, configuration design optimization of plane truss structure has been tested by using decomposition technique. In the first level, the problem of transferring the nonlinear programming problem to linear programming problem has been effectively solved and the number of the structural analysis necessary for doing the sensitivity analysis can be decreased by developing stress constraint into member stress approximation according to the design space approach which has been proved to be efficient to the sensitivity analysis. And the weight function has been adopted as cost function in order to minimize structures. For the design constraint, allowable stress, buckling stress, displacement constraint under multi-condition and upper and lower constraints of the design variable are considered. In the second level, the nodal point coordinates of the truss structure are used as coordinating variable and the objective function has been taken as the weight function. By treating the nodal point coordinates as design variable, unconstrained optimal design problems are easy to solve. The decomposition method which optimize the section areas in the first level and optimize configuration variables in the second level was applied to the plane truss structures. The numerical comparisons with results which are obtained from numerical test for several truss structures with various shapes and any design criteria show that convergence rate is very fast regardless of constraint types and configuration of truss structures. And the optimal configuration of the truss structures obtained in this study is almost the identical one from other results. The total weight couldbe decreased by 5.4% - 15.4% when optimal configuration was accomplished, though there is some difference.

  • In this study, the optimal configuration of arch structure has been tested by a decomposition technique. The object of this study is to provide the method of optimizing the shapes of both two hinged and fixed arches. The problem of optimal configuration of arch structures includes the interaction formulas, the working stress, and the buckling stress constraints on the assumption that arch ribs can be approximated by a finite number of straight members. On the first level, buckling loads are calculated from the relation of the stiffness matrix and the geometric stiffness matrix by using Rayleigh-Ritz method, and the number of the structural analyses can be decreased by approximating member forces through sensitivity analysis using the design space approach. The objective function is formulated as the total weight of the structures, and the constraints are derived by including the working stress, the buckling stress, and the side limit. On the second level, the nodal point coordinates of the arch structures are used as design variables and the objective function has been taken as the weight function. By treating the nodal point coordinates as design variable, the problem of optimization can be reduced to unconstrained optimal design problem which is easy to solve. Numerical comparisons with results which are obtained from numerical tests for several arch structures with various shapes and constraints show that convergence rate is very fast regardless of constraint types and configuration of arch structures. And the optimal configuration or the arch structures obtained in this study is almost the identical one from other results. The total weight could be decreased by 17.7%-91.7% when an optimal configuration is accomplished.

Shape Optimization of Arches (아치구조의 형상 최적화)

  • This paper considers the problem of optimum shaping of steel arches subjected to general loading. The weight of arches is considered as the objective function and the appropriate combinations of section forces, material volume, arc length, and closed section area of arches are considered as the stress constraints. The shape optimization problems are formulated in terms of the design variables of sectional areas of each element. First the cost sensitivity of the design is investigated. Then the investigation comprises the search for the optimum arch form as well as the optimum area distribution along the arch. Two spaces of shape optimization algorithm will be treated, the first space corresponding to the section optimization by the Modified Newton Raphson Method, and the second space to the coordinate optimization by the Powell Method. The optimization algorithm is evaluated and the optimum span-rise ratios for the given arches are evaluated.

  • The pallet, typically a form of tertiary packaging, is a flat structure used as a base for the unitization of goods in the supply chain. In addition, standard pallets such as T-11 and T-12 are used throughout the logistics industry to reduce the cost and enhance the efficiency of transportation. However, in the case of special cargo, it is impossible to handle such cargo using a standard pallet due to its size and weight, so many have developed and are now using their customized pallet. Therefore, this study suggests a pallet size optimization method to calculate the optimal pallet size, which minimizes the loss of space on a pallet. The main input features are the specifications and the storage quantity of each cargo, and the optimization method that has modified the Neighborhood Search Algorithm calculates the optimal pallet size. In order to verify the optimality of the developed algorithm, a comparative analysis has been conducted through simulation.

  • 본 연구에서는 웨이퍼 단면 연삭기 구조물의 경량화 고강성화 최적설계를 위하여 가변벌점함수 유전 알고리즘을 이용한 다단계 최적설계 방법을 적용하였다. 구조강성 최대화와 중량 최소화라는 상반된 성질의 목적함수를 최적화하기 위하여 강성의 역수 개념인 컴플라이언스(compliance)를 도입하여 목적함수론 최소화시키는 문제로 만들었으며, 가증방법(weighted method)을 이용하여 다목적 함수를 단일 목적함수로 변환시켰다. 부재 단면형상 최적화 단계와 정적설계 최적화 단계, 및 동적 설계 최적화 단계를 순차적으로 수행하는 다단계 최적설계를 방법을 연삭기 구조물의 최적설계에 적용하였다.(중략)

  • This study is concerned with the optimization of steel jacket subjected to wave forces using the allowable stress design method. The optimization of member section is considered here. Objective function for the minmum cost design is obtained by considering the weight of steel jecket. Constraints are imposed to insure that structural displacement and strength are within allowable values. The nonliner otimization problems are solved by SUMT method including the modified Newton-Raphson method.
