  • In this paper, we present interference power distribution results when radio frequency identification(RFID) and ubiquitous sensor network(USN) systems share the $908.5{\sim}914MHz$ frequency bands. Average interference powers are obtained by simulation and statistical analysis, respectively. Simulation results are then verified by statistical analysis. According to the number of interferers and the diameter of the protection area, the cumulative density functions(CDFs) of interference power are simulated under the various conditions. From the simulation results, the probability that both USN and RFID systems meet the required maximal interference power levels is 95 % on condition that there are 1 low revered RFID reader and several USN nodes and that the minimum distance between a RFID reader and an USN node is greater than 1 m. Our results can be used as an basic research for coexistence analysis of RFID and USN systems in the $908.5{\sim}914MHz$ frequency bands.

  • Cognitive radio systems have been considered as a strong solution of frequency scarcity due to the limit of frequency resources. This paper proposed an active interference management scheme that the secondary system can coexist with the primary system in the same frequency band without interference. Using the proposed protocol, the secondary user acquires interference channel information and transmit/receive filter information and designs precoding matrix using these information. Since interference from the secondary systems are collected to unused subchannels of the primary system, the primary system can suppress interference without additional process. The secondary systems suppress interference from the primary system using whitening matched filter so that the spectral efficiency can be improved. Numerical results provides that the proposed scheme improves performance of the secondary systems without interference to the primary system and do not degrade performance of the primary system even if the number of the secondary systems increases.

The real-time measurement and analysis were operated for measurement the frequency environment of the operating band in advance. and primarily equipment to develop is analyzed how the interference effect to the radar minimize the operation of radar equipment. In reverse, to use the same frequency band the methods such as frequency sharing techniques are presented in this paper. Finally, by design of the main items of the RF transceiver NF, transmission output, and a simulation of the IMD, such as whether the key is verified prior to meet specifications.

  • In this paper, the frequency sharing issue between cellular time division duplex-orthogonal frequency division multiple access (TDD-OFDMA) Systems and terrestrial Fixed Systems has been studied. The conventional advanced minimum coupling loss (A-MCL) includes only the formulation to calculate the interference from one interfering system. Therefore, A-MCL must be modified to assess the aggregated interference from base stations(BS) and mobile stations(MS). By applying the modified model, the coexistence analysis are done according to the average number of MS per sector, BS-to-BS distance, and the main beam direction of the terrestrial fixed system. In the case of 20 MS per sector, the BS-to-BS distance and the minimum distance between a terrestrial fixed system and BS are 5.8 km and 2.5 km, respectively. It is about 25dB that the difference between maximum and minimum interference signal power which varies with the main beam direction of the terrestrial fixed system. Moreover, for 40% of the main beam direction of the terrestrial fixed system, interference signal power is less than the maximum permissible interference.

  • Analysis on sharing between GSO FSS and terrestrial system in the 40㎓ band, related with the problem for sharing between terrestrial services and FSS and identification of HDFSS downlink bands in World Radiocommunication Conference 2003, was practiced by assuming that both systems are operated in Korea. According to results from simulation using the characteristic parameters of GSO FSS and terrestrial FS system in 40 ㎓ described in ITU-R Recommendations, in case that elevation and azimuth angle of antenna of FS station are adjusted to point directly to the geostationary satellite, the GSO system can cause the worst interference to the FS system. This situation is possible to occur in the installation of 40 GHz FS station in urban area where there are high-rise buildings. If high-density FS stations in 40 ㎓ band are operated in the future, interference mitigation techniques to avoid GSO arc should be considered.

  • This paper examined the feasibility of adding a new NGSO/MSS(Non-Geostationary orbit/Mobile satellite service) service link to a frequency band which is already allocated to fixed-service microwave(M/W) system. To achieve this goal, the NGSO/MSS handset performance under the influence of the M/W multiple stations and the influence of handsets on the M/W station were both analyzed. Sharing criterions were also obtained by means of coordination contour in the former case, and handset capacity in the latter case. As the results, it was proven that sharing was feasible only when the vertical distance between handset and trendline was above 4 km except front and back points of M/W antenna bore sight under influence of 9 hops(the distance between hops = 50 km) M/W system on the NGSO/MSS handset, and only when the capacity of handset was below $7.0\times10^{-14}$ handsets/ $m^{2}$ under influence of handsets on the M/W station.

  • In this paper, we consider the frequency sharing feasibility of Fixed Satellite Service (FSS) with Microwave Landing System (MLS) allocated in the C-band. On the basis of characteristics of MLS and FSS suggested by ITU and safety standards of MLS by ICAO, three interference scenarios are built and numerical simulations are carried out for investigating the frequency sharing between the two systems. From the simulation results, we calculate the separation distance between MLS and FSS ground antennas, required for frequency sharing by employing standard protection limits regulating the interference to noise ratio (I/N) of the receiver.

  • In this paper, we investigate the power allocation for cognitive relay networks. Cognitive relay networks offer not only increasing spectral efficiency by spectrum sharing but also extending the coverage through the use of relays. For spectrum sharing, conventional works have assumed that secondary users know perfect channel information between the secondary and primary users. However, this channel information may be outdated at the secondary user because of the time-varying properties or feedback latency from the primary user. This causes the violation for interference constraint, and the secondary user cannot share the spectrum of the primary after all. To overcome this problem, we propose the power allocation scheme for the secondary user under the allowable primary user's outage probability constraint. Since the proposed power allocation scheme does not use the instantaneous channel information, the secondary users have lower feedback burden. In addition, the proposed scheme is also robust to the outdated channel environment.

  • Various wireless communication devices or network such as WRAN and WLAN will coexist in the TVWS(TV White Space). Because of this coexistence, the wireless devices which use the TVWS have to avoid interfering to not only licensed TV receiver and wireless microphone but also homogeneous or heterogeneous TVBD(TV Band Device)s. In this paper, we propose two frequency sharing methods for the coexistence of WLAN and WRAN in terms of interference reduction and throughput enhancement in both homogeneous and heterogeneous networks. One is the WRAN spectrum etiquette to provide more wide bandwidth for WLAN users and the other is the WLAN frequency selection methods to improve the throughput performance. The simulation results have confirmed the throughput improvement of the proposed methods. Moreover, the proposed methods is also applicable to improve the throughput performance and reduce interference of similar systems working in a cognitive manner.
