Analysis about effects and satisfactions of the Parking Information System considering Efficiency (효율성을 고려한 주차 정보 시스템의 효과 및 만족도 분석)

  • In this paper, we propose a parking information system which suggests an available parking lot on the shortest path between an entrance and adestination. In order to analyse the change of the parking management efficiency of each model as the number of unavailable parking lots increases from 10% to 99%, we compare the experimental results of three parking information system: an entrance-oriented system, a destination-oriented system, and the proposed system. Also, we compare user's satisfaction according to whether 50 user park their car with the proposed system or not.

  • Most researches in WSN-based parking management system used wireless sensors to monitor the events in a car parking area. However, the problem of car collisions in car parks was not discussed by previous researches. The car position details over time are vital in analyzing a collision event. This paper proposes a collision verification method to detect and to analyze the collision event in the parking area, and then notifies car owners. The detection uses the information from motion sensors for comprehensive details of position and direction of a moving car, and the verification processes an object tracking technique with a fast OBB intersection test. The performance tests show that the location technique is more accurate with additional sensors and the OBB collision test is faster compared to a normal OBB intersection test.

  • IoT (Internet of Things) technologies have largely contributed to our smart living environment. The smart parking system is one of the prominent services that IoT supports. To identify the parked vehicles, the previous parking system use special identifying devices, the RFID tags carried by the users, and the high quality camera to recognize the vehicle license numbers. However, the previous methods cause cost inefficiency and unfriendly usages. To address these problems, we propose a smart parking system based on ultrasonic sensors and Bluetooth communication. The proposed system decides the available slots by using the sensor motes located in the parking spaces. Also it recognizes the location of the parked vehicle using Bluetooth RSSI between a Smartphone and the sensor motes. In addition, based on these converging technologies, it can support the parked routes of vehicles for users. To evaluate the implemented smart parking system, we applied the RSSI transform equations and the recognition rate for parked vehicles. As a result, the accurate rate of transformed distances could be measured.

Development and Effectiveness of Private Parking Information Algorithm (복합용도 초고층빌딩에 대한 개별주차정보제공 알고리즘 개발)

  • Super high-rise buildings of combined use such as large shopping malls and multiplex etc. have larger parking facilities than general buildings and are characteristic of an increase in the number of the entrance and the exit connecting internal external space of the parking lot. These features cause a congestion of internal traffic by increasing car driving distance in the parking lot, and vehicle idling increases by drivers wander the parking lot in order to find parking space. In addition, they make drivers suffer from lots of difficulties due to parking including increasing their walking line after parking. Therefore, in this study, we developed individual parking information provision algorithm to specify the optimal parking place for drivers according to the purpose of visiting a building and the drivers' moving path, and selected new construction site for the second lotte world in order to evaluate the algorithm developed and performed evaluation. As a result of the evaluation, it was analyzed that in the case of applying the individual parking information provision algorithm compared to the existing parking information provision algorithm, moving distance in the parking lot decreases around 7.43~83.4%, and that in the case of $CO_2$ emission, it decreased about 47.7% on average, which indicates that the efficiency resulted from application of the individual parking information provision algorithm is very high as the application effects are tested.

Applicability of Composite Polyurea Method Considering the Required Performance in Underground Parking Lot Upper Slab (공동주택 지하주차장 상부슬래브의 요구성능을 고려한 복합형 폴리우레아 공법의 적용성 검토)

  • In this study, problems of the waterproofing methods in which water leakage occurs in the upper slab of the underground parking lot of apartment houses and the requirements considering the characteristics of the upper slab, and selected the appropriate performance(proposal) for the composite polyurea process are reviewed. As a result of the study, it is necessary to review performance such as responsiveness to upper slab of the multi-unit underground parking lot that is comprised of (1) crack and behavior responsiveness, (2) surface integrity, (3) vertical watertight stability, (4) pressure layer construction, (5) impact and pressure response and (6) vehicle moving load. As a result of evaluating 5 items corresponding to the requirements for the soft and hard complex polyurea, all of them were found to meet the conditions, and each materials were improved by compounding the materials that had problems when applying a single-ply method, thereby clarifying the advantages and disadvantages of the material property. However, in order to apply to the actual site, additional evaluation on site applicability such as mock-up evaluation should be conducted, and subsequent studies on the applicability of the market through review of economic feasibility and maintenance is required.

  • In past, parking lot was placed on the ground and for the reason air quality was not in problem. But recently parking lot has been placed under the ground and the air quality becomes problem. So in this study, the ventilation performance on the underground parking lot was estimated by using CFD software and alternative system was suggested. Three case studies are handled in this study. 1st case is just an underground parking lot. 2nd case is about an underground parking lot where has 4 fan rooms on each floor and 3rd case is about an underground parking lot where has 4 fan rooms and 30 guidance fans on each floor.

  • Numerical estimation for concentration of mono-carbon oxygen (CO) gas inside an underground parking lot with auxiliary jet fans for enhancement of ventilation is carried out by using a commercial program. Main interest lies on the diagnosis of the present ventilation system including position and selection of auxiliarly fans in addition to main suppliers and exhausts. Details of both flows and concentration of CO gas that is most important component among car exhaust gases are illustrated in this investigation and those are presented for engineering construction of an underground parking pool. Prediction data of computational work is also validated by real measurements of concentration of CO gas.

A Study on Parking Characteristics in University Campuses (대학캠퍼스 내 주차특성에 관한 연구)

  • Parking infrastructure in university campuses has been inadequately developed in spite of rapid increase in car ownership of professors, staffs and students. However, only a few researches have been conducted domestically and overseas to identify and solve the problem. Thus, in this study owner drivers in 16 campuses located in Seoul Metropolitan Area were interviewed to figure out what they thought were important factors and how much they were satisfied when they were using parking lots in campuses. The questionnaires of the survey included economy, accessibility, convenience, punctuality, safety and informativeness. The Importance-Satisfaction Analysis was conducted based on the survey. And the parking characteristics of university campuses were compared based on the levels of importance and satisfaction calculated by ISA. Lastly, criteria of establishing campus parking management guideline were suggested as well.

  • The impervious ratio was frequently employed as a fundamental attribute will be used as a proxy of the total environmental burden in the urban area since it may contribute as much or more on a cumulative basis to the overall environmental condition. This research proposes a comparative evaluation framework in a more objective and Quantitative way for an impervious ratio in the university campus, using the Google Earth. Two university campuses (Kyungpook National University: KNU, Hong Kong University: HKUJ were selected as survey objectives in order to evaluate the potential of Google Earth in monitoring impervious conditions in the campus. The 61cm resolution of Quickbird data combined with digital map realistically identified the major type of impervious surface such as road, building and parking lots in the study area by large scale spatial precision. The impervious zones with persistently high road density and parking space were specifically identified over the KNU campus while the HKC campus was intensively covered by tree, resulting in almost twice (31%). as compared to KNU (18.4%), The methods of characterizing impervious surface used in this study are easily replicable using data that are primarily publicly available, and therefore the collection of impervious coverage data via Google Earth is, therefore, proposed as a practical alternative.
