The aim of this study is 1) to analyse the historical development and current condition of the subject based classification(SBC), 2) to clarify the function and to categorize the specific kind of SBC, for its conceptualization and the development plan. For this purpose, almost 30 cases, for the period 1937 through now, were analyzed concerning their terms used in the names and the specific kinds as SBC. In addition, the analysis was made regarding how the SBC fulfill the selected main functions as a classificatory scheme and how SBC is inter-related with the other knowledge organization systems(KOS) such as classification and subject heading. Based on the above analysis, the conclusion addressed that SBC could be defined in consideration of the detailed function, type, information environment, and interconnection among the KOS, and suggested the future development plan of SBC as a classification scheme.

This study attempted to analyse the collections of public libraries in terms of their subject distribution and currency. It was expected that the analysis would give public librarians some suggestions as to their collection development policy making. This study team selected 423 Korean public libraries across the country and scrutinized the collections by their classes of Korean Decimal Classification(KDC) and publishing years. The study results indicated that there was some subject disproportion in public library collections. Literature and social sciences were accounting for 54.8% of whole collections. Currency of collections of public libraries could be said relatively excellent. It was found that 64.9% of whole collections had been published after 2000.

This study aims to suggest several improvement strategies for the access and retrieval system of National Library of Korea Subject Headings (NLKSH). For this purpose, first of all, the access and retrieval systems in five selected subject headings were examined. Second, focus group interviews and system analysis were conducted to reveal the current condition and suggest the future development strategies. Third, IFLA's Guidelines for Subject Access in National Bibliographies and FAST application cases were analyzed to suggest implications on the improvement strategies. Upon these analysis, recommendations for improving access and retrieval systems of the NLKSH were proposed in four areas as follows: functionalities, interfaces, queries, and other front-end features.

This study presents the research trends of Records and Archives Management in Korea by analyzing the articles of the Records and Archives Management in Korea according to subjects, issue periods, journals and researchers. For the study, 374 articles from 3 academic journals published between 1999 and 2009 were analyzed. As a result, several research trends in this field were discovered. The summary of the study is as follows: Firstly, it has been proven that the productivity of the articles of Records and Archives Management in Korea increases as time goes by. Secondly, there are differences in the subject fields among journals in Records and Archives Management. Thirdly, there are differences in the subject fields among researchers' institutions. Fourthly, there are no differences in the subject fields among researchers' specialized areas.

검색 질의 연구 분야의 대부분 선행 연구는 검색 질의 주제 분류에 집중되어 있으며 질의 자체에 대한 연구자의 정성적인 판단으로 분석되었다. 이는 검색 이후 클릭 된 문서를 고려하지 않고 진행되었다는 점과 분석 주제 및 활용 데이터가 제한적이라는 것에 한계가 있다. 이에 본 연구는 국내 대형 온라인쇼핑몰의 1년간의 검색로그를 활용하여 검색 질의와 검색 이후 조회한 문서명 정보를 기반으로 토픽모델링을 수행하여 검색 질의 주제를 정의하였다. 또한 검색 행동특성에 따른 주제별 성격을 정의하기 위하여 주성분 분석을 통해 주요 변수 추출 후 각 주제별 검색 행동특성을 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과는 효과적인 검색 서비스 구축 및 검색 시스템 개발에 기여 할 것으로 기대된다. 향후 연구로는 텍스트 분류기 모델링 실험을 통해 자동 분류 시스템을 구현할 수 있을 것이다.

Subject specialized services are introduced in library environment in order to meet users' needs, which become more specialized, characterized, and personalized. This concept dates back to the 1960 in Korean scholarly research, and previous studies revealed that many libraries in Korea have provided this kind of subject specialized services to library users. This study aimed to consider appropriate directions of subject specialization in Korea. This study examined seven library cases the structure of which is organized by subject specialization. It tried to give a good grasp of background of building up the subject specialization system, current state of the service and its effects, problems and challenges of operating the system, recruitment and training issues of subject specialist librarians, their duties and tasks, and so on. Also Announcements of academic subject specialist positions in Korea are compared to in other countries such as United States, UK, and Canada in order to analyze the demand for subject specialist librarians.

본 연구의 목적은 국내 독서치료 주제 연구 문헌을 배출한 학문분야와 주요 연구 내용, 여기에 영향을 미친 문헌의 주제 분야를 도출하고 독서치료 주제 연구 문헌을 바라보는 타 문헌들의 시각을 통해 독서치료 주제 연구 문헌의 성격을 다각적으로 파악하는 것이다. 이를 위해 한국 학술지 인용색인 데이터베이스의 데이터를 활용하여 자아 중심 주제 인용 분석을 실행한 결과 독서치료 연구는 문헌 정보학계의 관련 연구를 토대로 하여 임상적 독서치료를 중심으로 이루어지고 있으며, 문헌정보학 외에 교육학 분야의 연구가 활발하고 유아 정서지능과 영화치료를 주제로 하는 문헌들에 응용되고 있음이 나타났다.

This study aims to reveal the direction of municipal ordinances for smart cities, while focusing on 74 municipal ordinances from 72 municipal governments through topic modeling. As a result, the main keywords that show a high frequency belong to establishment and operations of the Smart City Committee. From the result of topic modeling Latent Dirichlet Allocation(LDA), it classifies municipal ordinances for smart cities into eight topics as follows: Topic 1(security for process of smart cities), Topic 2(promotion of smart city industry), Topic 3(composition of a smart city consultative body for local residents), Topic 4(support system for smart cities), Topic 5(management for personal information), Topic 6(use of smart city data), Topic 7(implementation for intelligent public administration), and Topic 8(smart city promotion). As for topic categorization by region, Topics 5, 6, and 8 which are mostly related to the practical operation of smart cities have a significant portion of municipal ordinances for smart cities in the Seoul metropolitan area. Then, Topics 2, 3, and 4 which are mostly related to the initial implementation of smart cities have a significant portion of municipal ordinances for smart cities in provincial areas.

In this study, research topic areas in Korean and American medical schools were analyzed to detect each nation's major research areas. CLINICAL NEUROLOGY was identified as the Korean researchers' major subject area by the total number of journals and 'RADIOLOGY, NUCLEAR MEDICINE & MEDICAL IMAGING' was the most major area by the total number of articles. On the other hand, American researchers' top major subject area was the one same area according to all analysis, BIOCHEMISTRY & MOLECULAR BIOLOGY. In addition, Korean researchers showed publishing tendency related to journal preference in several subject areas.

This study examines web query types and topics submitted to Naver during one year period by analyzing query logs and click logs. Query logs capture queries users submitted to the system, and click logs consist of documents users clicked and viewed. This study presents a methodology to classify query types and topics. A method for click log analysis is also suggested. When classified by query types, there are more site search queries than content search queries. Queries about computer/internet. entertainment, shopping. game, education rank hightest. The implications for system designers and web content providers are discussed.
