A Study on Comparative Analysis of Hydraulic Conductivity in Injection and Recovery Phases of Constant Pressure Injection Tests in Deep Fractured Rock (심부 균열암반 정압주입시험 주입-회복 단계별 수리전도도 비교분석 연구)

  • In the research project for the disposal of high-level radioactive waste, where the deep rock environment is considered as the main target for the disposal facilities, the hydrogeological characteristics of rock aquifers are utilized as the most important evaluation factor for the suitability of the disposal site, design/construction of facilities and stability analysis during operation. Such hydrogeological data are obtained by conducting in-situ hydraulic tests using deep boreholes located at the target sites. In this process, the reliability and accuracy of the investigation results are closely linked to various factors including the selection of the optimal testing methods, the performance of testing equipment, the standardization of testing procedures, and data interpretation methods. In this paper, to improve the reliability of the evaluation of hydrogeological characteristics in deep rock aquifers, we conducted a comparative analysis of the hydraulic conductivity characteristics derived from the injection and recovery phases of the most representative hydraulic test, the constant pressure injection test. A high-performance hydraulic testing equipment and standardized testing procedures were applied to deep boreholes in the fractured rock aquifers located in granite/volcanic rock areas in Korea, to obtain the downhole pressure-flow rate, and the hydraulic conductivity was derived by using various transient flow analysis solutions. The results of the study showed a high consistency between the hydraulic conductivity values obtained during the injection and recovery phases within the same test section, even under different permeability conditions (low-permeability/high-permeability). This research case, which precisely conducted a comparative analysis of two different phases (injection/recovery) within a single specific hydraulic testing process using actual field data from deep rock aquifers in Korea, is expected to help overcome the inherent limitations of in-situ field tests, where the validation and verification of measurement results are challenging, and ultimately contribute to enhancing the reliability of deriving in-situ hydrogeological characteristics information.

Sensitivity analysis of hydrogeologic characteristics for recharge and discharge rates assessment in the artificial recharge site (인공함양 주입량-양수량 평가를 위한 수리지질특성 민감도 분석)

  • 인공함양 시설을 설계 및 운영하는 단계에서 설치 예정부지의 자연적 특성(지형, 지질, 기후 등)과 인공적 특성(주입정과 양수정의 거리, 주입량, 양수량 등)은 중요한 인자라고 볼 수 있다. 인공함양 예정 부지의 개념모델을 설정하고 수리전도도와 이격거리(주입정과 양수정의 직선거리)에 대한 민감도 분석을 수행하였다. 인공함양 예정 부지는 충적대수층이며, 인공함양 주입량과 양수량은 $150m^3/day$로 동일하게 설정하였다. HydroGeoSphere 모델링을 통한 민감도 분석은 수리전도도($10^{-1}cm/sec$, $10^{-2}cm/sec$, $10^{-3}cm/sec$, $10^{-4}cm/sec$)와 이격거리(10 m, 50 m, 100 m) 조건에 대해 총 12회 수행하였다. 수리전도도가 $10^{-1}cm/sec$$10^{-2}cm/sec$인 경우의 모델링 결과, 이격거리가 100 m 범위 이내에서는 지하수위 변동이 발생하지 않았다. 수리전도도가 $10^{-3}cm/sec$인 경우의 모델링 결과, 이격거리가 10 m일 때 5 m 이내의 수위하강이 발생하고 영향반경은 약 14 m 정도로 나타났고, 이격거리가 50 m일 때 5 m 이내의 수위하강이 발생하고 영향반경은 약 31 m 정도로 나타났고, 이격거리가 100 m일 때 5 m 이내의 수위하강이 발생하고 영향반경은 약 34 m 정도로 나타났다. 수리전도도가 $10^{-4}cm/sec$인 경우의 모델링 결과, 이격거리가 증가할수록 양수에 의한 수위하강과 영향반경이 증가하였으며, 낮은 수리전도도로 인해 양수로 인한 수두손실을 회복할 수 없었기에 양수정 주변에서 반경 수십 m 이상의 수두하강 영역을 형성하고 주입정 근처에서는 주입속도가 대수층의 투수능력에 비해 상당히 높기 때문에 5 m 정도의 수위상승이 나타났다. 모델링 결과를 분석하여, 수리전도도가 $10^{-3}cm/sec$ 이하이고 이격거리가 10 m 범위 이상인 충적대수층에 $150m^3/day$를 주입하면서 동시에 $150m^3/day$를 양수하는 시스템에서는 지하수위변동이 발생하므로 주입량과 양수량의 조절이 필요하다는 것을 확인하였다.

Numerical Analysis and Optimum Design of Disposable Drug Infuser Using Fluid-Structure Interaction Technique (유체-구조 상호작용기법을 이용한 일회용 약물주입기의 성능 해석 및 최적 설계)

  • A disposable drug infuser is used to provide drugs to patients who are not hospitalized; in this infuser, an elastic recovery force is exerted by a diaphragm made of a rubber-like materialsuch that a constant amount of drugs is provided to a patient. The drug infuser has to control the speed and amount of drugs to be released, as well as the overall duration for which they are to be administered. However, in a drug infuser with an elastic diaphragm, the infusion pressure depends on the amount of drug remaining within the infuser, and the amount of drug infused gradually decreases as the amount remaining in the infuser decreases. In this study, a finite element procedure involving the application of the fluid-structure interaction technique was developed and the performance of the elastic type disposable drug infuser was analyzed. The optimum design for ensuring that the infusion pressure remains constant throughout the duration of usage, including during infusion and discharge, was determined by this procedure.

  • 반도체 소자가 고집적화 되고 미세화 될수록 좁은 면적에 여러 기능을 가진 우물을 형성시켜야하나 기존의 우물로는 고온 장시간 열처리로 인하여 측면 확산이 깊게 되고, 불순물 농도 분포는 표면으로부터 농도가 점차 낮아진다. 따라서 기존 우물의 불순물 분포로는 기생 트랜지스터에 의한 렛치-엎과 알파 입자에 의한 SER의 감소를 위하여 필요한 벌크에서의 고농도 분포를 유지하기가 곤란하다. 이러한 문제는 차세대 반도체 개발을 위해서는 반드시 해결해야 할 것이며 이것을 해결할 수 있는 공정으로는 고 에너지 이온 주입과 저온, 단시간 열처리이다. 고 에너지 이온 주입 시의 불순물 분포를 어떻게 제어할 것인가에 대한 것과 여기서 부수적으로 나타나는 격자 손상과 그 회복 및 잔류결함의 성질을 어떻게 알고 이를 게터링 등에 이용할 것이냐에 대한 것이다. 실리콘 기판 내로 가속된 이온은 실리콘 격자와 충돌하면서 많은 1차 결함이 생기고. 이들은 후속 열처리 과정에서 활성화되면서 대부분은 실리콘 격자의 위치에 들어가 활성화되고. 그 나머지는 실리콘내의 격자간 산소, 격자간 실리콘. 격자 빈자리와 상호 작용을 하여 2차 결함을 형성한다. 에피택셜 웨이퍼와 p-type웨이퍼에 비소 이온을 고에너지로 주입후 2단계 열처리에 의한 농도분포변화와 핵생성과 결함성장에 관해 실험하였고, 핵생성온도는 $600^{\circ}C$이하이고, 성장에 필요한 온도는 $700^{\circ}C$이상이다.

A Study on the Permeability Reduction Methods of the Riverbed Ground during Urban Railway Tunnel construction (도시철도터널공사 시 하저통과구간의 지반투수저하 공법에 대한 연구)

  • This paper describes a study on the permeability reduction of the riverbed ground during urban railway tunnel construction. The research is mainly concentrated on the study of the grouting or injection methods among permeability reduction methods which can be adapted in the riverbed ground. Firstly, the various grouting methods are theoretically reviewed and compared based on the previous research papers and case study results. It is also evaluated the grouting methods in view of a safe construction of the river crossing railway tunnel. Baced on the literature review and previous construction data, the design technology of grouting methods considering the long term hydro-geological behaviour in the riverbed, is suggested. Two injection methods namely, Natural Durable Stabilizer(N.D.S) and Space-Multi Injaction Grouting(S.M.I) methods, are introduced as new approach methods which can be adopted to modify the riverbed ground. In order to evaluate the ground that grouted and modified by the N.D.S and S.M.I method, the pilot test programmes including the field and laboratory permeability tests, are carried out in the river crossing tunnel construction sites. The results obtained from pilot test programme, are also reviewed. In conclusion, the grouting efficiency of the S.M.I method using the non-alcalimeter silica sol is better than that of NDS method using cement. In addition, it hopes that the research results are contributed to develop the grouting design technology.

Case Study on Stability Assessment of Pre-existing Fault at CO2 Geologic Storage (CO2 지중저장 시 단층 안정성 평가)

  • Increase of pore fluid pressure resulting from injection of $CO_2$ may reactivate pre-existing faults, and the induced seismic activities can raise the safety issues such as seal integrity, restoration of storage capacity, and, in the worst case, removal of previously injected $CO_2$. Thus, fault stability and potential for $CO_2$ leakage need to be assessed at the stage of site selection and planning of injection pressure, based on the results of large-scale site investigations and numerical modeling for various scenarios. In this report, studies on the assessment of fault stability during injection of $CO_2$ were reviewed. The seismic activities associated with an artificial injection of fluids or a release of naturally trapped high-pressure fluids were first examined, and then site investigation methods for the magnitude and orientation of in situ stresses, the distribution and change of pore fluid pressure, and the location of faults were generally summarized. Recent research cases on possibility estimation of fault reactivation, prediction of seismic magnitude, and modeling of $CO_2$ leakage through a reactivated fault were presented.

Comparison of Amphotericin B and Itraconazole as Empirical Antifungal Therapy in Children with Acute Leukemia with Neutropenic Fever (발열을 동반한 호중구감소 상태의 급성백혈병 환아에서 경험적 항진균제로 투여한 Amphotericin B와 Itraconazole의 효과와 이상 반응 비교)

  • Purpose : Fungal infection is one of the important causes of morbidity and mortality in patients with hematologic malignancies. Amphotericin B(ABV) and itraconazole(ITZA) have been used as the standard empirical antifungal therapy in neutropenic patients with acute leukemia who have persistent fever that does not respond to antibiotic therapy. ABV is an antifungal drug associated with side effects such as fever and chills, symptoms which may be mediated by pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-$1{\beta}$(IL-$1{\beta}$) and tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$(TNF-${\alpha}$). We assessed modulation of these pro-inflammatory cytokines as well as the anti-inflammatory cytokines(IL-4, IL-1Ra) by ABV and ITZA. Methods : From March 2004 to February 2005, a total of 30 episodes from acute leukemia patients with febrile neutropenia were analyzed for this study. They were randomly allocated to receive intravenous ABV or ITZA for 14 days. Clinical responses were evaluated at the completion of therapy, and cytokine IL-$1{\beta}$, TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-4, and IL-1Ra were measured for determination to know the correlation between two antifungal agents and inflammatory cytokines. Results : Empirical antifungal agents were given to 37 patients(ABV 20, ITZA 17), and 30 patients(ABV 15, ITZA 15) were evaluable for efficacy. White blood cell and absolute neutrophil count in the group treated with ITZA increased early days of treatment, so the duration of neutropenia in ITZA group is shorter. Serum creatinine level is lower in ITZA group than in ABV group but this is not statistically significant. There was no significant difference in response rate between two groups. The IL-$1{\beta}$ was increased in ABV treatment group and the ratio of IL-1Ra/IL-$1{\beta}$ is markedly decreased in ABV treatment group while increased in ITZA group. Conclusion : ITZA and ABV have at least equivalent efficacy as empirical antifungal therapy in neutropenic children with acute leukemia. However ITZA is associated with significantly less toxicity in clinical and molecular aspects.
