  • The purpose of this study was to examine the state of parent education experienced by parents and the state of child education at home relation to infant/preschooler abuse prevention. The subjects in this study were 302 selected parents who resided in I city and whose children were in infancy or early childhood. A survey was conducted, and frequency analysis or chi-square test was carried out after their answer sheets were gathered. The findings of the study were as follows: As for the state of parent education, the parents who received education related to infant/ preschooler abuse prevention accounted for 12.6 percent, and the parents who were taught about all the four types of abuse outnumbered the others who weren't. The parents received that education at institutions for early childhood education by experts in child abuse and early childhood education, and they replied they were satisfied with that education. As for the state of child education, the parents who replied they provided abuse prevention education for their children at home accounted for 25.2 percent, and they answered they taught about physical abuse and how to cope with abuse. They responded they started to conduct this education in their homes when their children were in infancy, and they did it frequently in daily life mainly through conversations. They told it's difficult for them to offer this education at home due to a shortage of abuse-related materials. And whether they offered that education for their children or not at home was significantly different according to whether they received parent education or not. Given the findings of the study, the necessity of the development of manuals for abuse prevention education that can easily be used at home without any modifications was suggested, and education on neglect and the revitalization of publicity are required as well.

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to develop a participatory learning process and apply it to community empowerment for health promotion. Methods: The participatory learning sessions were composed of three stages according to the modified Freirean model of empowerment education. Stage 1 of generating themes (listening stage) was replaced with a community health forum. Stage 2 of problem-posing was executed via a two-session small group brainstorming discussion for selecting priority community health problems and strategies to solve them. Stage 3 of act-reflect-act, the implementation of the chosen strategies, is ongoing. We tested the feasibility of the participatory learning processes in the pilot programs for health education. Then, 14 Myeon (or Dong) Health Committee members used them in Health Plus Happiness Plus projects for community empowerment to achieve health equity in Gyeongsangnam-Do, Korea. Results: In the pilot program for feasibility, more than 80% of the 95 participants gave positive responses to evaluation questionnaires after three or four participatory learning sessions. Health Committee members successfully selected various strategies relevant to their communities with facilitation, but without any teaching from outside professionals. Conclusions: We successfully applied the participatory learning process to health promotion. However, more studies are warranted to evaluate its long-term applicability.

  • Technical documents in the construction field are changing from paper documents to electronic ones. As a result, the industry witnesses a trend of using portable electronic devices in searching or retrieving necessary information such as relevant regulations. Despite the improvement in the accessibility to general technical documents, a limitation is still found in accessing the electronic documents on the regulations. We see the barrier for field engineers to enhance their technical knowledge. One of major barriers is that videos, animations, and virtual reality information to enhance the visual understanding of technical content related to regulations are not linked. It is the interactive electronic technical manual (IETM) that can address such issues. The IETM is an electronic document system that enables real-time information acquisition while operating in the form of conversations with users by linking multimedia functions to document types such as specifications and guidelines. This study establishes a model of the IETM that can be operated in the planning stage of a construction project. The study also verifies its usability with a hypothetical case study. This study aims to improve the usability of the IETM in the construction project by analyzing the application effect of the IETM using the AHP technique.

  • UHD (Ultra High Definition) broadcasting technology, and UWV (Ultra Wide Vision) which is the high quality panoramic video of wide view angle based on UHD, were commercialized in Korea for the first time in the world, and those are representative realistic video technologies that maximize the user's sense of presence. By comparing the user's subjective reaction of UHD and UWV, the purpose of this study is to systematically establish the user's subjective video quality evaluation. For this purpose, a large screen projection experiment is designed by setting the screen size (4k x 2k, 8k x 2k) and content types (sports, landscape, concert) as variables to measure the user's subjective video quality evaluation and satisfaction. As a result of the study, the users' evaluation of UWV was higher than UHD in all items of subjective video quality, and satisfaction. Moreover, the results showed the significant differences depending on the video contents. Based on the results of the research, the study proposed the points necessary for the development and commercialization of UWV panoramic technology, and suggestions for the future research.

  • International society, including the United Nations, has recently been making efforts to further promote a rapprochement of cultures in relation to alleviating military and political conflicts and other social clashes. In line with these efforts at the international level, there has been a growing interest on Central Asia and, in particular, on the Silk Road, which functioned as a trade route among ancient civilizations in the region and is also seen as a route that promoted cultural dialogue and exchanges. Given the amount of cross cultural dialogue and exchange, it is no surprise that intangible cultural heritage has historically been abundant and easily found in the region. However, this heritage was placed in considerable risk because heritage transmission critically weakened for seventy years under Soviet rule. Fortunately, since independence, there has been increasing interest in restoring community identity and reviving intangible heritage. Nevertheless, in spite of this interest, a lack of policies and cultural support in each country has made heritage safeguarding difficult. In this paper, I analyze the various phenomena that took place after the concept and international trends on ICH were introduced and speak about the experiences and outcomes obtained from collaborative network projects by ICHCAP and the Central Asian countries over the last six year. In addition, I would like take this opportunity to discuss how we can understand and develop collaboration in the intangible heritage field in Central Asia in a long-term perspective.

  • In the tribute system controlling international relations of pre-modern East Asia, conciliation diplomacy between royal authorities was a principle of diplomatic relations among each nation. Therefore, capitals where royal authorities really existed were political centers and diplomatic stages at the same time. Notably, diplomatic relations between United Silla and Japan were maintained dually by conciliation diplomacy between royal authorities and practical diplomacy through Dazaihu located in Tsukushi. Tsukushi located at the northwestern tip of Kyushu was a gateway to foreign nations and stronghold in terms of national defense. Amidst an East Asian war named Baek River Battle in 663, the royal court of Daehwa established Dazaihu here because it was necessary for diplomatic and military responses. Dazaihu established as part of diplomatic negotiation not only took diplomatic functions as an official residence since the latter half of the 7thcentury. and but also was used as a stage of official diplomacy between Silla and Japan. Diplomatic negotiation between Silla and Japan through Dazaihu was made in practical methods and such a situation could be confirmed through diplomatic documents exchanged between Silla and Dazaihu in the middle of the 8thcentury. At that time, protocols became an importan tissue.

  • This is the paper on the descriptive perspective and writing method in Yeheon(旅軒)'s Piranrok(避亂錄). Piranrok was Yeheon's diary which was written during Japanese invasions of Korea. Many intellectual recorded their diaries during the war. Yeheon's Piranrok was a typical example among war journals. I tried to take view of the descriptive perspective and writing method in Yeheon's Piranrok. First, sourceful introspection was distinct characteristic in the descriptive perspective. Yeheon penetrated into a chaotic state of affairs during Japanese invasions of Korea. And Yeheon had reflective consciousness about self-existence. He contemplated his existence through diary writing. I had a task to study the writing methods in Yeheon's diary. One of the distinct characteristic in writing methods was to increase specific gravity of discussion. Yeheon advocated strongly his opinion and position about cause of war, war responsibility, morality, fortification and righteous army. Yeheon made the best use of communication method and catechetic method. He answered his own questions about the enter and retirement of public office. He expressed his worry and conflict through various techniques of expression. I have a task to study the diary in Chosun dynasty. I believe that analyzing characteristics of Yeheon's diary can contribute to understanding the literature history of diaries in Chosun dynasty.
