Analysis of Volatile Compounds in Leaves and Fruits of Zanthoxylum schinifolium Siebold et Zucc. & Zanthoxylum piperitum DC. by Headspace SPME (SPME법에 의한 산초나무와 초피나무 잎과 열매의 향기성분 분석)

  • Volatile components in the leaves and fruits of Z. schinjfolium and Z. piperitum were analyzed by Headspace SPME(Solid phase Microextraction). Fifty two and 48 components in the leaves and fruits, repectively, were identified in Z. schinifolium. (E)-2-hexenal, ${\alpha}-pinene$, (Z)-ocimene+limonene, estragole, germacrene-d were detected at common components in the leaves and estragole in the fruits of Z. schinjfolium. Regardless of collection sites hexanal, (Z)-3-hexenol, (E)-2-hexenal, n-hexanol were appeared in the leaves while undecanone in the fruits. Thirty and 27 components in the leaves and fruits, respectively, were identified in Z. piperitum. ${\alpha}-pinene,\;{\beta}-phellandrene$, 1,8-cineole, citronellal and myrcene, (Z)-ocimene+limonene, ${\beta}-phellandrene$ were appeared as common components in the leaves and fruits collected from Baeck-yang-sa and Nae-jang-sa. (Z)-3-hexenol, (E)-2-hexenal, ${\alpha}-pinene\;myrcene\;and\;{\beta}-phellandrene$, citronellal, geranyl acetate were major components in the leaves and fruits from Tong-do-sa.

Identification of Volatile Compounds of 4 Grape Species by Storage Conditions (전자코와 GC/MS를 이용한 포도 품종별 저장 조건에 따른 휘발성 향기 성분 연구)

  • Volatile flavor compounds of 4 grape species (Campbell, Sheridan, Red globe, and Meoru) were identified during 3-day storage at either $4^{\circ}C$ or room temperature. Each sample was analyzed by solid-phase micro-extraction (SPME) method combined with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Also electronic nose composed of 12 different metal oxide sensors was used to differentiate flavors of grapes. Sensitivities (delta $R_{gas}/R_{air}$) of sensors from electronic nose were obtained by principal component analysis (PCA). Proportion of the first principal component was 99.30% at $4^{\circ}C$ and 99.36% at room temperature, respectively. In our result, flavor patterns of grape can be differentiated according to the storage period. The major volatile flavor compounds were 1-hexanol, hexanoic acid and its ethyl ester, and phenylethyl alcohol with the presence of butanoic acid and its ethyl ester, acetic acid, benzeneacetic acid and its ethyl ester.

  • This research estimates the Mixture of Normals of households saving rate in Korea. Our sample is MDSS, micro-data in 2014 and Gibbs algorithm is used to estimate the Mixture of Normals. Evidences say some results. First, Gibbs algorithm works very well in estimating the Mixture of Normals. Second, Saving rate data has at least two components, one with mean zero and the other with mean 29.4%. It might be that households would be separated into high saving group and low saving group. Third, analysis of Mixture of Normals cannot answer that question and we find that income level and age cannot explain our results.

  • Emission characteristics of major offensive odorants were investigated using odor samples collected from two urban stormwater catch basins with highly contrasting environmental conditions. A total of 6 major offensive odorants ($H_2S$, $CH_3SH$, DMS, DMDS, $CH_3CHO$ (AA), and $NH_3$) were measured. For this comparative analysis, odor intensity (OI) of all odorants was derived from their concentration data via empirical equations introduced by Nagata. Both the absolute magnitude of odorant concentrations and their OI values were used concurrently to evaluate the occurrence pattern of each individual odorant. According to our analysis, RSCs including $CH_3SH$, $H_2S$, and DMS tend to exhibit the highest odor strengths among all 6 compounds investigated. The overall results of our study suggest that the emissions of major offensive odorants from urban stormwater catch brains can be explained at least partially by the temporal trend of human activity.

  • The characteristic aroma of Gardenia Absolute Oil made from Gardenia Jasminoides Ellis was investigated by GC and GC-MSD and by sensory evaluation The method of GC Analysis was used Double Column System by Carbowax 20M /SPB-1 of Pola/nonPola columns. A total of 51 compounds were identified in Gardenia Absolute Oil, including t entatively erstimated 9 compounds. The major components were Linalool, Farnesene of various form, Jasmin Lactone, Gamma undecalactone and Cis-3-hexone derivatives.

Volatile Flavor Components in Various Varieties of Grape(Vitis vinifera L.) (포도의 품종별 휘발성 향기성분 분석)

  • Volatile flavor components in three grape(Vitis vinifera L.) varieties were extracted by SDE(Simultaneous steam distillation and extraction) method using the mixture of n-pentane and diethylether(1:1, v/v) as an extract solvent. Grapes of the following varieties were studies : Blackolympia, Campbell and Delaware. The volatile extracts were analyzed by GC-FID and GC/MS. The totals of 77, 72 and 74 volatile flavor components were identified in Blackolympia, Campbell and Delaware, respectively. (E)-2-Hexenal(20.36%), diethylacetal(18.03%), hexanal and ethyl acetate were contained as the main compounds of Blackolympia. In Campbell, ethyl acetate(30.81%) was relatively more abundant than other compounds and among functional groups, C$\_$6/ aldehydes and alcohols were major constituents of the extract. On the other hand, in Delaware, alcohols was the major constituent group and (E)-2-hexenal(21.07%) and (E)-2-hexena1-ol(19.43%) were the main compounds. All of three grape varieties contained a large amount of hexanal, (E)-2-hexenal, hexanol, (E)-2-hexen-1-ol, thus C$\_$6/-compounds proved to be major volatile components of grape and small amount of terpenols were only detected from Delaware.

Comparison of Volatile Compounds in Plant Parts of Angelica gigas Nakai and A. acutiloba Kitagawa (참당귀와 일당귀의 부위별 휘발성 정유성분 비교)

  • Volatile flavor compounds Angelica gigas Nakai and Angelica acutiloba Kitagawa were extracted by SDE (simultaneous steam distillation & extraction) using the mixture of n-pentane and diethylether (1:1, v/v) as an extract solvent and analyzed by GC-FID and GC-MS. The amount of essential oils of top part and root in Angelica gigas were obtained in 0.063% (v/w) and 0.389% (v/w) yields as a fresh weight base, respectively. The main compounds in top parts and the root were identified as nonane (7.51% and 24.49%, respectively), ${\alpha}-pinene$ (14.64% and 31.75%), limonene+${\beta}-phellandrene$ (14.01% and 9.66%), ${\gamma}-terpinene$ (7.85% and 1.20%), germacrene-d (5.85% and 0.22%), (E,E)-${\alpha}-farnesene$ (6.05% and 1.40%), ${\beta}-eudesmol$ (5.26% and 1.84%). Although these compounds were present in both parts. The results showed large differences in. the concentrations of them much varied. The amount of essential oils stem and leaf obtained (0.068% and 0.127% in A. gigas) and (0.153% and 0.243% in A. acutiloba) yields as a fresh weight base, respectively. More than 18 and 32 components in stem and leaf have been identified, which of main components in A. gigas were ${\alpha}-pinene$, myrcene, limonene, germacrene-d, eudesmol and butylphthalide, but germacrene-d and butylphthalide contents were also different in stem and leaf. And more than 21 and 32 components in A. acutiloba were ${\gamma}-terpinene$ and butylphthalide. Volatile compounds were very different in both species.

Comparison of several criteria for ordering independent components (독립성분의 순서화 방법 비교)

  • Independent component analysis is a multivariate approach to separate mixed signals into original signals. It is the most widely used method of blind source separation technique. ICA uses linear transformations such as principal component analysis and factor analysis, but differs in that ICA requires statistical independence and non-Gaussian assumptions of original signals. PCA have a natural ordering based on cumulative proportion of explained variance; howerver, ICA algorithms cannot identify the unique optimal ordering of the components. It is meaningful to set order because major components can be used for further analysis such as clustering and low-dimensional graphs. In this paper, we compare the performance of several criteria to determine the order of the components. Kurtosis, absolute value of kurtosis, negentropy, Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistic and sum of squared coefficients are considered. The criteria are evaluated by their ability to classify known groups. Two types of data are analyzed for illustration.

Chemical Composition and Antimicrobial Activity of the Essential Oil of Cryptomeria japonica (삼나무(Cryptomeria japonica) 정유성분의 화학적구성과 항균효과)

  • 목적 : 삼나무(Cryptomeria japonica)로부터 얻은 정유의 구성과 구강박테리아에 대한 항균작용을 연구하였다. 방법 : 정유의 화학적조성은 GC 와 GC-MS에 의하여 분석하였고, 정유와 그 주성분에 대한 구강박테리아 15균주의 항균효과를 시험하였다. 결과 : 정유의 95.82%에 해당하는 68복합체를 증명할 수 있었다. 정유의 주요성분은 ${\alpha}-pinene$ (6.07%), sabinene (8.86%), limonene (3.43%), ${\gamma}-cadinol$ (4.28%), ${\beta}-eudesmol$ (3.90%), and 10(15)-cadien-4-ol (7.16%)이었다. 삼나무의 주요성분은 거의 모든 박테리아에 대하여 MICs, 0.025 to 0.05 mg/ml; MBCs, 0.025 to 0.1 mg/ml에서 유의성있는 억제효과를 나타내었고, 주요성분 또한 다양한 성장억제를 나타내었다. 결론 : 삼나무의 정유는 다종의 화학복합체로 이루어져 있으며, 이는 다종의 구강박테리아에 대해 항균작용을 갖고 있다.
