Analysis of the Contact Pressure Distribution and Kinetics of Knee Implant Using the Simulator (Simulator를 이용한 인공무릎관절 접촉면의 압력분포 및 운동성 분석)

  • Contact area and pressure are important factors which directly influence a life of knee implants. Since implant's mechanical functions should be experimentally evaluated for clinical use, many studies using a knee simulator and a pressure sensor system have been conducted. However it has not been reported that the contact pressure's distribution of a knee implant motion was estimated in real-time during a gate cycle. Therefore. the objective of this study was to analyze the contact pressure distribution for the motion of a joint using the knee simulator and I-scan sensor system. For this purpose, we developed a force-controlled dynamic knee simulator to evaluate the mechanical performance of artificial knee joint. This simulator includes a function of a soft tissue and has a 4-degree-of-freedom to represent an axial compressive load and a flexion angle. As axial compressive force and a flexion angle of the femoral component can be controlled by PC program. The pressure is also measured from I-scan system and simulator to visualize the pressure distribution on the joint contact surfaces under loading condition during walking cycle. The compressive loading curve was the major cause for the contact pressure distribution and its center move in a cycle as to a flexion angie. In conclusion, this system can be used to evaluate to the geometric interaction of femoral and tibial design due to a measured mechanical function such as a contact pressure, contact area and a motion of a loading center.

  • Recently various quality assurance activities have been applied in software industry for the purpose of software qualify improvement, and the ultimate target of those activities are focused on removing defects from its developed applications. We declared "ZERO DEFECT 21" movement on March 1999 whose purpose is to deliver defect-free applications to the customer. In this paper we would like to introduce the followings $\circled1$ Approaching Methods, $\circled2$ Achievements of "ZERO DEFECT 21". After accomplishing first you of "ZERO DEFECT 21" movement which consist of Audits and Software inspections, we could get the following improvement . $\circled1$ due to conducting the "Audits," we could prevent 22 cases of customer claims, enhance 11.7% of design quality and improve 23.3% of deliverable reusability : $\circled2$ also, due to conducting the "Periodic Sampling inspection and Final inspection," we could enhance 123% of defect rate compared with early stage of development and 247% of defect rate compared with previous yew. Based on the survey results, we could conclude that "ZERO DEFECT 21 " movement provides confidence to project team members and reliability to our customers.ce to project team members and reliability to our customers.

  • 기존의 선형 이송 시스템은 구동원으로 서보모터를 사용하고 있다. 서보 모터의 회전 운동을 직선운동으로 변환하기 위해서는 기계적인 동력전달 장치가 필요하며, 이는 위치 오차의 발생이나 주기적인 시스템의 유지보수의 필요성 등의 문제점을 야기한다. 본 논문에서는 단위 체적당 추력비가 기존의 모터에 비해 우수한 횡축형 선형전동기를 이용하여 LCD 공정에 사용되는 indexer 시스템의 선형 추진부에 적용하는 연구를 수행하였다. 실험결과 횡축형 선형전동기는 가속능력 최대 속도 및 위치결정 정밀도 등에서 indexer 시스템에 적용하기에 적합한 것을 검증하였다.

  • 무아레 무늬는 주기적인 두 격자에 비간섭성 광원을 사용하여 얻을 수 있으며, 격자의 모양에 따라 측정 물체의 병진 운동 및 회전 운동 측정이 가능하다. 무아레 기술은 비접촉식 측정 방법으로 실험 장치가 단순하여 물체의 3차원 형상 측정[1], 진동 및 응력 측정[2], 매질의 굴절률 측정[3], 회전각 측정[4] 등과 같은 많은 분야에 응용할 수 있다. 무아레 무늬는 발생 방법에 따라 그림자식과 영사식으로 나뉘며, 영사식은 격자를 측정면에 투영시키는 방법으로 그림자식과 비교하여 격자보다 상대적으로 큰 물체도 측정할 수 있다.   • An efficient solution method for harmonic balance techniques with Fourier transform is presented for periodic unsteady flow problems. The present partially-implicit harmonic balance treats the flux terms implicitly and the harmonic source term is solved explicitly. The convergence of the partially Implicit method is much faster than the explicit Runge-Kutta harmonic balance method. The method does not need to compute the additional flux Jacobian matrix from the implicit harmonic source term. Compared with fully implicit harmonic balance method, this partial approach turns out to have good convergence property. Oscillating flows over NACA0012 airfoil are considered to verify the method and to compare with results of explicit R-K(Runge-Kutta) and dual time stepping methods.

  • 본 연구는 꾸준한 신체활동이 고혈압을 강하시키는데 어떠한 효과가 있는지를 확인하는데 그 목적이 있다. 실험대상은 연령과 성별이 같은 SHR로 실험군과 통제군으로 무작위샘플로 분류하였다. 실험실적응 및 운동적응 기간을 거친 후 운동기간별 혈압의 변화를 관찰하였다. 통계분석은 SPSS 10.0을 사용하였다. 실험결과 집단 간 혈압의 차이가 있었다(p<.05). 실험집단간, 집단내 기간별 상호작용은 유의하게 나타났다(p<.05). 결론적으로 주지적인 신체활동은 SHR의 혈압을 감소시키는 효과가 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 심혈관 조영영상으로부터 좌심실의 형태 및 운동을 가시화하기 위해 기하학적 정보와 물리적 정보를 통합한 동적 가우시안 블럽(dynamic gaussian blob)모델을 개발하였다. 동적 가우시안 블럽 모델은 superellipsoid에 3차원 가우시안 형태함수를 갖는 단일 유한요소를 통합한 것으로, 좌심실에 작용되는 가상적인 힘에 의해 형태를 적하하고, 심박동 전 주기에서의 운동을 추적한다. 또한 벽 운동 정도에 따라 다른 색을 지정하여 볼 수 있도록 함으로써 벽 운동에 이상이 있는 부위를 육안으로 쉽게 판별할 수 있도록 하였다. 이와 같은 좌심실의 동적.색체 가시화는 형태가 변황되는 심장질환이나 허혈이나 심근경색증처럼 심실벽 운동에 이상이 있는 질환의 진단을 도울 수 있다.

  • This paper describes the analysis of ultrasonic signal and partial discharge(PD) signal patterns for each location of particle in GIS. The characteristics of the ultrasonic signal and PD signal patterns for each location were as follows; in case of particle on the electrode, large ultrasonic signals and large PD signals occurred in positive half-cycle periodically; in case of particle on the spacer, ultrasonic signals and large PD signals occurred in negative half-cycle periodically; in case of the free moving particle, ultrasonic signals and large PD signals occurred by collision non-periodically. As a result, it was confirmed that particle in GIS could be located by the comparison and analysis of ultrasonic signal and PD signal patterns.

Preliminary Study of The Periodic Limb Movement Disorder Following Nasal CPAP : Is It Associated With Supine-Sleeping Position? (지속적 양압술과 수면중 주기적 사지운동 장애의 관계에 대한 예비적 연구 : 앙와위가 주기적 사지운동 장애와 관련되는가?)

  • Introduction : Periodic limb movement disorder (PLMD) is shown to common in patients with OSA and may become evident or worsened when treated with nasal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). Whether this is due to im proved sleep continuity. adverse nocturnal body positioning, uncovered by CPAP, or due to the CPAP stimulus is still debat-ed. We hypothesized that the increase in PLM activity following CPAP is associated with more supine-sleeping tendencies when being treated with CPAP. In the present work, we compared differences in the PLMD index (PLMI) and sleeping position of patients with sleep disordered breathing before and after CPAP treatment. Method : We studied 16 patients (mean age 46 yr, 9M, 7F) with OSA (11 patients) or UARS (5 patients) who either had PLMD on initial polysomnogram (baseline PSG) or on nasal CPAP trial (CPAP PSG). All periodic leg movements were scored on anterior tibialis EMG during sleep according to standard criteria (net duration; 0.5-5.0 seconds, intervals; 4-90 seconds. 4 consecutive movements). Paired t-tests compared PLMD index (PLMI), PLMD-related arousal index (PLMD-ArI), respiratory disturbance index (RDI), and supine sleeping position spent with baseline PSG and CPAP PSG. Results : Ten patients (63%) on baseline PSG and fifteen patients (94%) on CPAP PSG had documented PLMD ($PLMI{\ge}5$) respectively with significant increase on CPAP PSG(p<0.05). Ten patients showed the emergence (6/10 patients) or substantial worsening (4/10 patients) of PLMD during CPAP trial. Mean CPAP pressure was $7.6{\pm}1.8\;cmH_2O$. PLMI tended to increase from baseline PSG to CPAP PSG, and significantly increase when excluding 2 outlier (baseline PSG, $19.0{\pm}25.8/hr$ vs CPAP PSG, $29.9{\pm}12.5/hr$, p<0.1). PLMD-ArI showed no significant change, but a significant decrease was detected when excluding 2 outlier (p<0.1). There was no significant sleeping positional difference (supine vs non-supine) on baseline PSG, but significantly more supine position (supine vs non-supine, p<0.05) on CPAP PSG. There was no significant difference in PLMI during supine-sleeping and nonsupine-sleeping position on both of baseline PSG and CPAP PSG. There was also no significant difference in PLMI during supine-sleeping position between baseline PSG and CPAP PSG. With nasal CPAP, there was a highly significant reduction in the RDI (baseline PSG, $14.1{\pm}21.3/hr$ vs CPAP PSG, $2.7{\pm}3.9/hr$, p<0.05). Conclusion : This preliminary data confirms previous findings that CPAP is a very effective treatment for OSA, and that PLMD is developed or worsened with treatment by CPAP. This data also indicates that supine-sleeping position is more common when being treated with CPAP. However, there was no clear evidence that supine position is the causal factor of increased PLMD with CPAP. It is, however, suggested that the relative movement limitation induced by CPAP treatment could be a contributory factor of PLMD.
