Effect of Tunneling and Groundwater Interaction on Tunnel Behavior (터널시공과 지하수의 상호작용이 터널의 거동에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper presents the effect of tunneling and groundwater interaction on tunnel behavior. As part of this study, design issuses for tunneling situations similar to that considered in this study are first identified. A parametric study is then conducted on tunneling situations frequently encountered in Seoul area using a 3D stress-pore presure coupled finite-element model with emphasis on the effects of ground and lining permeabilities. The results indicate that tunneling in water bearing ground results in a deeper and wider settlement trough, increased axial thrusts in shotcrete lining than those without the groundwater. Also revealed is that the axial thrusts in shotcrete lining are governed by the relative permeability between the ground and the lining. Design implications of the findings from this study are discussed.

Effects of Soil Conditions on the Behavior of Open -Ended Steel Pipe Pile (지반조건의 변화가 개단강관말뚝의 거동에 미치는 영향)

  • Model pile teats, using large calibration chamber in which the stress state and the relative density can be controlled, were performed in order to study on the effect of soil condition on the behavior of open-ended steel pipe pile. The model pipe pile was made up of two pipes to separately measure each component of bearing capacity of open -ended steel pipe pile. According to the tests results, pile plugging and driving resistance of the pile installed in sand were primarily dependent on the horizontal stress and the relative density. Plug bearing capacity, outside skin fricition and total bearing capacity were also mainly dependent on the horizontal stress and relative density. Moreover, the ratio of the horizontal stress acting on the outside wall of open -ended pipe pile after installation to the original horizontal stress was not nearly affected by original value of horizontal stress. It is bigger than one in the case of dense deposit, equal to one for medium deposit, and smaller than one for very loose deposit. It seems to be mainly dependent on the relative density for a given soil.

Beam on Elasto-Plastic Foundation Modeling of Tieback Walls (앵커토류벽의 탄소성보 해석에 관한 연구)

  • A beam on elasto-plastic foundation modeling of soldier pile and woodlagging tieback walls or anchored walls was developed and tested. An instrumented full scale tieback wall in sand was constructed at the National Geotechnical Experimentation Bite located on Texas A&M University. The experimental earth pressure deflection relationship (p-y curves) was developed from the measurements. The construction sequence was simulated in the proposed method. The conceptual methodology of an anchored wall design was introduced by using the proposed method. The proposed method was evaluated with the measurements of case histories in sand and clay. A parametric research was performed to study the most influencing factors for the proposed method. It is concluded that the proposed method represents a significant improvement on the prediction of bending moments and deflections of the properly designed walls.

Comparison of Behaviors for Underground Flexible Pipes with Installation Gap (관로 이격거리에 따른 지중매설관의 거동특성 비교)

  • Underground flexible pipes for electric cables are subject to external loads and surrounding soil pressure. Particularly, strain of flexible pipes is of great concern in terms of safety and maintenance of electric cables. In this paper, stress and strain of flexible pipes with two types of installation gap, ie, l0cm and naught, were compared to investigate the structural integrity of pipes from actual field test. The effect of degree of compaction and burial depth were also investigated to simulate the variety of construction situation. The results of the field test show that the strain criteria were satisfied under the burial depths of 80cm, 100cm and 120cm regardless of installation gap.

  • 지열 냉난방 시스템의 설계는 냉난방 공간의 크기에 따라 필요한 부하를 계산하여 설계하게된 다. 설계 부하를 충분히 소화할 수 있는 지열교환기의 길이와 보어홀의 깊이 및 개수는 지반의 열적 특성에 크게 좌우된다. 열전도율이 큰 지반일수록 지열교환기 내의 열 흡수 및 소산이 효과적으로 이루어져 지열교환기의 길이도 상대적으로 짧아질 수 있다. 즉, 효율적이고 정확한 설계를 하기 위해서는 지반, 암반 및 지중열교환기의 물리적 특성에 따른 열적 특성을 설계자는 미리 숙지하여야 한다. 현재 국내에서 수직 밀폐형 지중열교환기의 그라우트로 벤토나이트를 가장 많이 사용하고 있으나, 해외의 경우 지중 조건에 따라 시멘트 또는 벤토나이트를 적절히 선택하여 시공하고 있다. 이는 벤토나이트의 특성상 적용 조건이 제약을 받기 때문이며, 특히 지하수가 존재하지 않을 경우 사용이 사실상 불가능하다. 국내에서 이에 대한 충분한 연구는 아직 이루어지지 않았으며, 시멘트 그라우트를 사용하기 위한 물리적, 열적 특성에 대한 연구가 필요한 시점이라 판단하여 본 연구를 수행하였다. 시멘트 그라우트의 경우 수화반응이 일어나는 초기의 건조수축을 최소화하는 배합비로 물성을 구성하였으며, 벤토나이트는 일반 현장 시공 비율을 사용하였다. 열전도율은 첫째 실내 시험으로 시멘트 그라우트에 대한 열판시험법과 벤토나이트 그라우트에 대한 탐침시험법으로 수행하여 구하였으며, 두 번째 방법인 현장 시공으로 직접 현장열응답시험을 수행하여 그라우트 간의 열적 특성을 비교하였다. 또한 기존 시멘트그라우트의 열적 특성을 개량한 코오롱건설에서 개발한 시멘트 그라우트에 대한 열적 거동도 기존 타 그라우트의 열적 거동과 비교하였으며, 개발 제품의 성능이 상당히 우수함을 알 수 있었다.

Optimum Latch Contour Design for Improving Gas Circuit Breaker Performance (가스회로차단기의 성능 개선을 위한 윤곽 최적설계)

  • The dynamic characteristics of a gas circuit breaker depend on the underlying high-speed operating mechanism with a spring-actuated latch system. Many studies have been carried out to reduce the breaking time of circuit breakers. In this study, the optimum latch contour design is determined for reducing the breaking time of a circuit breaker. A multi-body dynamic model of the latch is established for analyzing the dynamic behaviors of the circuit breaker by using the MSC/ADAMS program. Simulation results are matched against experimental data. VisualDoc is employed for determining the optimal latch contour. From the optimum design, the breaking time of a gas circuit breaker is improved by about 8.6%.

Experimental Study of Flow and Pollutant Dispersion in Meandering Channel (사행수로에서의 흐름 및 오염물질 혼합에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • 일반적인 하천의 흐름방향으로 발생하는 주흐름(primary flow)에 중첩하여 주흐름 방향의 수직단면에 이차류(secondary flow)가 발생하게 되며 이러한 이차류의 발달은 투입된 오염물질의 횡혼합을 증대시킨다. 오염물질의 혼합은 이송(advection)과 확산(diffusion) 또는 분산(dispersion)의 과정으로 설명되며 본 연구에서는 수로전체의 혼합과정을 설명하기 위해서 이송 확산 방정식을 적용하였다. 본 연구에서는 실험수조를 $150^{\circ}$의 중심각을 갖는 S자 형태의 만곡수로를 제작하여 유량조건은 15, 30, $60\;{\ell}l/sec$의 세 가지 경우로, 수심은 15, 20, 30, 40 cm의 경우로 총 12 케이스의 실험을 수행하였다. 유속장의 측정은 Sontek사의 3차원 micro-ADV(Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter)를 이용하였다. 오염물질 확산실험은 소금물 용액에 주변수와의 밀도차를 없애기 위해서 메탄올 용액을 첨가하여 추적자로 이용하여 농도장의 분석을 일본 KENEK사의 전기전도도계(conductivity meter)와 Gartner사의 DAS(data acquisition system)를 이용하여 횡방향 유속장의 분포와 오염운의 거동을 비교하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻게 되었다. 주 흐름은 직선구간에서는 중앙에서 최대 유속을 나타내며, 좌우대칭적인 유속분포의 모습을 보이고, 만곡부에서는 수로안쪽을 따라 최대유속이 발생하였다. 수로의 직선구간에서는 최대유속이 발생하는 즉, 중앙에서의 오염물질의 분산이 가장 활발하게 이뤄졌으며 농도의 퍼짐형상인 오염운 역시 만곡부에서는 수로만곡부의 안쪽을 따라 확산 이동함을 알 수 있었다. 만곡부 외측에서는 오염물질의 정체현상이 일시적으로 발생하며, 유속구조의 횡방향 비대칭구조로 인한 종 횡방향의 분리현상이 발생하고, 오염운의 중첩현상이 종방향으로 연속되게 나타난다. 향후 수심방향 거동을 포함한 3차원적 분석이 요구되며 이 연구결과는 2차원적 수치해석의 적용 및 분석 자료로써 이용이 가능하다.

Rheological Properties of Gelatinized Dilute Rice Starch Solutions (쌀전분 희석 호화액의 유동학적 특성)

  • Rheological properties of waxy and non-waxy rice starch solutions were evaluated with a narrow gap rotational and Cannon Fenske viscometers. The gelatinized rice starch solutions containing 0.2-1.0% starch displayed pseudoplastic flow behavior. At higher starch level, degree of pseudoplasticity of waxy rice starch solutions increased, while that of non-waxy rice did not changed apparently. The consistency coefficient (K) of non-waxy rice starch solutions increased with increasing gelatinization temperature, but waxy rice starch solutions remained constant, and in alkaline aqueous solutions both of them showed increasing K values. The value of K increased exponentially with an increase in concentration. The effect of the temperature on the viscosity of the solutions followed Arrhenius' type equation, and the activation energies were in the range of 3.675-3.775 kcal/g-mol that were near to that of pure water. The changes of reduced viscosity with concentration were followed Huggin's equation and the values of intrinsic viscosity and interaction coefficient were 0.78-1.59 dl/g and 0.67-2.75, respectively.

Measurement of Retaining Tensile Load with the Relative Displacement Detector of Ground Anchors (상대변위측정기를 이용한 지반앵커의 보유인장력 측정)

  • The tension load of the ground anchor inserted in the ground gradually changes over time. In this regard the change of the initial tension load is primarily decreased by the fixation condition of the fixing head and the mechanical characteristics of the tensile material. The subsequent additional tension load is a time-dependent loss mostly due to the fixing conditions of the bonded length and the surrounding ground properties of the field. In this paper, therefore, a measurement system using a relative displacement detector that can relatively easily measure the change of tension load is discussed. As a result of the review, it was confirmed that the results using the relative displacement detector are similar to those of the real scale model test, and it was also confirmed that similar results were obtained with the result of the pull-out test conducted on the ground anchors fixed to weathered rocks condition. In addition, a pull-out test was conducted on the test anchors whose initial tension load loss was relatively large and through this test pull-out behavior of the tension type ground anchors was verified.

Static, Dynamic and Buckling Analyses of a Power Transmission Tower under Wind Load (풍하중을 받는 송전철탑의 정적, 동적 및 좌굴해석)

  • This paper describes dynamic characteristics of a power transmission tower consisting of lots of power lines and insulators. A numerical 3D modeling for the static, dynamic and buckling analyses of the power transmission tower is presented considering the case when the power lines are cut. Eigenvalue analysis indicates that the transmission tower shows different behavior comparing to usual structures governed by several low modes. The transmission tower is governed by lots of modes. It is verified that the transmission tower is structurally safe against the static wind and buckling loads. But the structural and buckling safety is not guaranteed when all power lines are cut, which comes to collapse the transmission tower. Further study is in need to overcome such case. Wind dynamic analysis shows that fluctuating wind loads increase the response of the tower.
