Physicochemical Characteristics of Native Korean Allium wakegi Araki according to Different Seed Bulb Origins (종구산지에 따른 한국산 쪽파(Allium wakegi Araki)의 이화학적 특성)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the physicochemical characteristics of native Korean Allium wakegi Araki samples, which were grown from seven local seed bulbs(Yesan, Muan, Anmyon-do, Deokjeok-do, Jeju-do, Yecheon, and China) to produce high quality native Korean Allium wakegi Araki. For the proximate composition of samples, moisture contents were in the range of 90.69~92.43%. The crude protein content of the Jeju-do sample was highest compared to the other samples. However, there were no significant differences in total sugar contents between samples. The seed bulb origin did not affect the hardness of the stem part, but was high for the leaves of the Yesan sample compared to the other samples. The results for anti-oxidative activity were as follows: Yesan(2.30 mg/mL) > China(2.51 mg/mL) > Muan (2.56 mg/mL) > Yecheon(2.74 mg/mL) > Jeju-do(2.85 mg/mL) > Anmyon-do(2.87 mg/mL) > Deokjeok-do(3.18 mg/mL). In terms of mineral and amino acid contents, the Yesan sample showed the highest levels, respectively, compared with the other samples. Food values such as contents of total phenolics and pyruvic acid were highest in the Jeju-do sample. These results show that the physicochemical characteristics of Allium wakegi Araki were significantly different according to different seed bulb origins.

A Contribution to Appropriate Korean Equivalents to Some International Gymnosperm Terminologies (나자식물의 바른 한국어(韓國語) 용어 사용에 대한 제언)

  • This study aimed to correct some inappropriate Korean gymnosperm terminologies. Rational Korean equivalents to some international terms are suggested to replace the conventional misleading words impling as if gymnosperm plants have flowers and/or fruits like angiosperm plants do as reproductive structures. So, the rectification has been primarily made on reproductive parts including cone, microsporangium (microsporangia), ovulate cone, ovuliferous scale, pollen, and strobilus (strobili). Also, additional suggestions have been made for some expressions other than reproductive parts, such as conifers (coniferous plants), softwood and hardwood misused in Korean traditional practices for a long period of time.

  • 마늘파종기는 파종기구동부와 파종후 파종홀의 복토역할을 하는 파종기롤러, 지면과의 마찰을 통해 바퀴의 회전토크가 발생하며 발생된 토크는 파종기 내부 동력으로 전달되어 전체 파종시스템(배종, 호퍼캠, 파종부)을 동작 시키는 기능을 수행하는 파종바퀴, 마늘종구를 한알씩 집어올려 중간이송컵으로 이송하는 자세교정컵이 포함된 배종부와 자세교정컵에서 낙하된 마늘종구를 땅속으로 파종하는 파종장치로 구성된다. 배종율 95%, 2립 배종률 5% 성능을 확보할 수 있는 기술이 개발될 경우 세계적으로도 독보적인 기술 우위를 확보할 수 있다. 이와 같은 기본적인 기능을 구현할 수 있는 컨셉모델에 대한 설계를 수행하여 시제품개발 전 기구해석과 구조해석 등을 위한 기본설계를 수행하였다. 배종율 95% 이상을 확보하기 위해서는 기존의 현장경험의 의한 설계 방식으로는 한계가 있기 때문에 시뮬레이션 및 분석 개발이 필요한데, 프레임은 고정밀 마늘종구 배종부 장착을 위한 기본 구조물로써 작동시 동력을 얻기 위한 바퀴와 연계가 되도록 설계되었으며, 호퍼는 배종 수행을 위해 마늘을 저장해 두는 통으로써 배종부와 연결된다. 배종부의 배종판이 회전함에 따라서 배종판의 홈이 호퍼 내로 들어갔다 나오면서 마늘을 집게되며, 동력 전달부는 배종판을 회전시켜주고, 회전 속도 조절을 가능하게 한다. 파종부는 배종부에서 중간컵을 통해 하나씩 공급해준 마늘을 땅에 심는 부분으로서. 프레임의 바퀴 회전과 연동되어 회전하고 설계하였다. 배종판에서 중간컵으로 이송된 마늘을 파종부의 파종컵에 받아 회전하면서 땅속에 파종컵이 묻히면 파종컵이 열리면서 땅속에 마늘을 심는 원리이다. 조간조정은 7조식의 경우 초기설치시 고정되도록 설계되었으며 농촌진흥청 기계화 표준재배안에 따라 의성마늘 기준 $14{\times}14cm$(조간${\times}$주간)를 기준으로 개발하였다. 조간조정은 기계가 설치되면 조정하기 어려우므로 14cm로 설계하였으며, 주간조정은 원형배종장치의 구동기어부의 속도비로 간격을 조정할 수 있도록 기어장치를 설계하였다. 주간조정은 13에서 18cm의 범위에서 작동하도록 설계되었으며, 필요에 따라 간격조절이 가능함. 마늘은 그 크기가 다르고, 형상도 다르기 때문에 종자에 따른 개별적인 파종기술들이 개발되어야하기 때문에 개발 기간이 오래 걸리고, 수익에 비하여 개발비가 과다하게 요구되는 실정인데 축적된 시뮬레이션 툴을 이용한 파종기 분석 기술을 확보할 경우 다른 파종기의 연구 개발에도 크게 도움이 될 것으로 기대되며, 생육측정 실험과 동역학 해석 툴 RecurDyn을 통해 파종기의 기구학적 분석을 통한 설계반영 인자를 도출할 계획이다.

Production of Seed Garlic by Sawing Bulbils of Southern Type Garlic in Jeju Island (제주지역에서 난지형마늘 주아 파종에 의한 종구 생산)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate cultivation to save the production method cost of warm type garlic. The optimum system for producing excellent seed bulbs by using bulbils of garlic has been required. The bigger size bulbils induced fast growth and lower rate of non-cloved bulbs. The ratio of non-cloved bulbs was the highest in the 0.1 g bulbils sowing of 'Namdo' and was low in the big size bulbils sowing. The bulbil growth rate of 'Deaseo' was much faster than that of 'Namdo', but most of 'Deaseo' bulbils showed low rate of non-cloved bulbs and small size scales in bulbs. The higher productivities of "Namdo" bulbils appeared at the September 11th sowing time, but 'Deaseo' bulbils produced small size non-cloved bulbs and got the very low ratio of non-cloved bulb production in all of the treatment, sowing that Jeju Island could not produce the non-cloved bulbs with 'Deaseo' garlic bulbuls. The growth rate such as leave number, leave length, bulb and clove size in the sowing distance of big size bulbils increased as the sowing distance was wider, but the rate of non-cloved bulbils decreased regardless of treatment. More than 3 g clove in the $10{\times}15cm$ distance of bulbs was produced resulted in sowing clove production potentials by using big size bulbil.

Flower Yield and Quality of Lilium Oriental Hybrids as Affected by Planting Date (정식시기가 오리엔탈 나리의 절화수량 및 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the flower yield and quality of Lilium Oriental Hybrids as affected by planting date. In cut flower production experiments, effect of planting date and bulb source was studied in rain shelter houses with 30% shading. Four planting dates compared were May 15, June 5, June 25, and July 15. Bulbs used for cut flower production were either imported or produced domestically. The greatest cut flower yield and quality were obtained from bulbs planted either on May 15 or June 25. Bulbs planted on July 15 produced cut flowers of very poor quality and yield, due to high temperatures during the planting time. Therefore, for planting in July, means other than 30% shading have to be adapted to lower temperature during early growth stage. Although plants from imported bulbs had better growth and cut flower yield as compared to domestic bulbs, there was no significant difference.

Incidence of Viral Infection of Main Garlic Growing Areas of Gangwon Province in Korea (강원도 마늘 주산지 재배마늘의 바이러스 감염 실태)

  • This research was conducted to investigate the incidence of viral infection in Samcheok-shi and Jeongseon-gun, main garlic growing areas of Gangwon province in Korea. Four primers sets (GLV, LYSV, GCLV, OYDV) were used for RT-PCR to test of 100 samples collected from each location. Infection rates of GLV, LYSV, GCLV and OYDV of garlic samples from Samcheok-shi and Jeongseon-gun were 95, 95, 92 and 33%, respectively. All garlic samples tested in this research were infected at least one virus. Coinfection of 3 kinds of virus (GLV, LYSV and GCLV) and 4 kinds of virus (GLV, LYSV, GCLV and OYDV) were 60 and 25%, respectively. While infections of GLV, LYSV and GCLV were evenly found in both two regions, OYDV infection of garlic samples collected from Jeongseon-gun was higher than Samcheok-shi. Viral infections at garlic fields of whole country and Gangwon province are very serious now. Therefore, it is very necessary to develop technic for virus-free bulb and renew seed bulb of garlic.

Effect of Soaking in KNO3 or K3PO4 Solution and Sowing Date of Bulbils on the Seed Bulbs Production of Garlic (Allium sativum L.) (마늘주아(珠芽)에 대한 KNO3및 K3PO4 처리(處理)와 파종시기(播種時期)가 종구(種球) 생산(生産)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • This study was carried out to investigate seed bulbs production of 'Namdo' garlic (Allium sativum L.) by treating with 200 mM $K_3PO_4$ and 200 mM $KNO_3$ solution to bulbils. The growth characteristics of garlic plants derived from bulbils sown on 3 different dates were compared to those of plants derived from non-treated bulbils. Time required for 50% shoot emergence ($T_{50}$) was shortened as the sowing dates delayed. However, the final emergence rate was increased in the early sowing dates, and was high when treated with $K_3PO_4$ and sown on Oct. 10. The % clove differentiation of bulb was not significantly affected by sowing date and chemicals treatment of the bulbils. In all treatments, % clove differentiation was greater than 85%. The average bulb weight was increased with earlier sowing. Bulbils treated with $K_3PO_4$ and sown on Oct. 10 exhibited the best growth and yield. which was 27% higher compared to the non-treated bulbils.
