A Numerical Study on the Effect of Volume Change in a Closed Compartment on Maximum Heat Release Rate (밀폐된 구획실의 체적변화가 최대 열발생률에 미치는 영향에 관한 수치해석 연구)

  • The effects of changes in area and location of fire source, fire growth rate, and volume of compartment on the major fire characteristics, including heat release rate, in closed compartment fires were examined. To this end, a fire simulation using Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) was performed for ISO 9705 room with a closed opening. As main result, it was found that the changes in the area and location of fire source did not significantly affect the thermal and chemical characteristics inside the compartment, such as maximum heat release rate, total heat release, maximum temperature at upper layeras well as species concentrations. However, increasinthe fire growth rate and volume of compartment resulted in increase of the maximum heat release rate and total heat release, decrease in the limiting oxygen concentration and increase in the maximum CO concentration. Finally, a methodology for the application of fire growth curves to closed compartment fires was proposed by deriving the correlation of the maximum heat release rate expressed as a function of the fire growth rate and the volume ratio of compartment based on the ISO 9705 room.

  • The purpose of this study is to make and validate landslide susceptibility map using artificial neural network and GIS in Kangneung area. For this, topography, soil, forest, geology and land cover data sets were constructed as a spatial database in GIS. From the database, slope, aspect, curvature, water system, topographic type, soil texture, soil material, soil drainage, soil effective thickness, wood type, wood age, wood diameter, forest density, lithology, land cover, and lineament were used as the landslide occurrence factors. The weight of the each factor was calculated, and applied to make landslide susceptibility maps using artificial neural network. Then the maps were validated using rate curve method which can predict qualitatively the landslide occurrence. The landslide susceptibility map can be used to reduce associated hazards, and to plan land use and construction as basic data.

A Study on the Improvement of Fish Habitat through Various River Restoration Techniques in the Wonju-cheon Stream, Korea (다양한 하천복원 기술을 통한 원주천의 어류 서식처 향상에 대한 연구)

  • The present study performed the impact of the change of low-flow channel on aquatic habitat in a reach of the Wonju-cheon Stream, Korea. The target species was Zacco platypus, a dominant species in the middle- and upper-stream of Wonju Cheon. The River2D model was used for the computation of the flow and the habitat suitability index model was used to estimate the quantity and quality of fish habitat using habitat suitability curves. First, for the restoration to low-flow channel, the restoration was conducted in a form close-to-nature flow channel, and the width of the low-flow channel was expanded and reduced. The results indicated that the Weighted Usable Area (WUA) of the target species improved by about 72% when the width of the low-flow channel was expanded, and that the fish habitat decreased by about 25% when the width of the low-flow channel was reduced.

  • 본 연구는 원주천 16 km 구간을 대상으로 안정하도 설계에 따른 하상의 변동과 그에 따른 물리적 생물학적 교란 영향을 분석하였다. 안정하도 설계를 위한 방법으로 구간별 안정경사관계곡선을 도출하였으며, 현재 하도의 구간별 경사와 비교하여 안정/불안정을 판단하였다. 원주천 대상구간은 총 20개구간 중 17개 구간이 안정한 하상경사로 나타났으며, 하류부 2개 지점과 상류부 1개 지점에서 불안정 경사로 나타났다. 불안정 구간의 안정하도 설계를 위한 방법으로는 하천시설물의 도입을 통한 하상변동의 유도로 안정경사를 설계하는 방법과 하도의 준설과 하상보호공의 설치에 따른 안정경사 설계 방법을 이용하였다. 하천시설물의 도입을 통한 안정하도 설계의 경우 2개의 구간에서 추가적인 안정하도의 설계로 총 19개 구간이 안정하도로 설계되었으며, 하도의 준설과 하상보호공의 설치에 따른 안정하도 설계의 경우 20개 구간 전부에서 안정경사로 설계되었다. 아울러 안정하도 설계에 따른 하천의 물리적 생물학적 교란 양상을 분석하기 위해 물리적 교란개선 평가 결과와 물리서식처의 변화를 분석하였다. PHABSIM 모형을 이용하여 원주천의 최우점종인 참갈겨니를 대상으로 평수량에 대한 서식적합도 (HS, habitat suitability)와 가중가용면적 (WUA, weighted usable area)의 변화를 분석하였다. 현재 상태와 5년의 하상변동 모의 후의 평가 분석결과를 하천시설물 도입과 하도의 준설에 따른 5년경과 후의 예측평가 결과와 비교 분석하였다. 하천시설물의 도입에 따른 안정하도 설계의 경우 물리적 교란개선 평가 결과는 현재상태보다 소폭 개선되었으며, 물리서식처는 현재상태 보다는 감소하나, 현재의 5년경과 후와 유사하게 나타났다. 하도준설과 하상보호공의 설치에 따른 안정하도 설계의 경우 물리적 교란개선 평가 결과는 미약하게 감소하였다. 물리서식처는 현재상태와 유사하게 나타났으며, 현재의 5년경과 후 보다는 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 안정하도 평가와 물리적 교란개선 평가 및 물리서식처 분석을 통한 하천의 안정성과 건강성 증대 방안을 도출하였다.

Solvent Extraction of Mo(VI) and W(VI) from Dilute Chloride Solution by Amine and Neutral Extractants (묽은 염산용액에서 아민과 중성추출제에 의한 몰리브덴(VI)과 텅스텐(VI)의 용매추출)

  • The extraction behavior of Mo(VI) and W(VI) from dilute chloride solution was investigated by employing amine (Alamine308 and TEHA) and neutral extractants (TOP) in the solution pH range from 2 to 9. W (VI) was selectively extracted over Mo(VI) by these three extractants and TEHA led to the highest separation factor. Without the pretreatment protonation of the tertiary amines, the extraction percentage of the two metal ions decreased steadily to zero as solution pH increased to 9. The extraction behavior of the metals was discussed on the basis of the distribution diagram of each metal. Alamine 308 and TEHA were much better than TOP in extracting and separating the two metal ions.

A Case Study of the Habitat Changes due to the Restoration of Low-Flow Channel (저수로 물길 복원을 통한 서식처 공간 변화 연구)

  • This present study conducted the impact of the restoration of low-flow channel on fish habitat in a reach of the Wonju Stream, Korea. The target species were Zacco koreanus, a dominant species in the middle- and upper-stream of Wonju Stream. The River2D model was used for the computation of the flow and the habitat suitability index model was used to estimate the quantity and quality of fish habitat using habitat suitability curves. In order to restore the study area, the low-flow channel was identified through the bankfull discharge of the study reach, and the best hydraulic section was designed. In addition, various restoration techniques were applied to the low-flow channel through rocks, pool/riffle structures, and the change of the channel width. Simulation results indicated that the restoration of the best hydraulic section effects decreased habitat suitability for the target species. However, when various restoration techniques were applied, the WUA (Weighted Usable Area) was improved by about 11%.

0.35㎛ CMOS Low-Voltage Current/Voltage Reference Circuits with Curvature Compensation (곡률보상 기능을 갖는 0.35㎛ CMOS 저전압 기준전류/전압 발생회로)

  • This paper presents curvature-compensated reference circuits operating under low-voltage condition and achieving low-power consumption with $0.35-{\mu}m$ standard CMOS process. The proposed circuit can operate under less than 1-V supply voltage by using MOS transistors operating in weak-inversion region. The simulation results shows a low temperature coefficient by using the proposed curvature compensation technique. It generates a graph-shape temperature characteristic that looks like a sine curve, not a bell-shape characteristic presented in other published BGRs without curvature compensation. The proposed circuits operate with 0.9-V supply voltage. First, the voltage reference circuit consumes 176nW power and the temperature coefficient is $26.4ppm/^{\circ}C$. The current reference circuit is designed to operate with 194.3nW power consumption and $13.3ppm/^{\circ}C$ temperature coefficient.

Evaluation of the Impact of Abandoned Channel Restoration on Zaco platypus habitat using the Physical Habitat Simulation: A Case Study of the Cheongmi-cheon Stream in Korea (물리서식처 모의를 이용한 구하도 복원이 피라미의 서식처에 미치는 영향 평가: 청미천 연구 사례)

  • This study investigated the impact of abandoned channel restoration on fish habitat using the physical habitat simulation. The study area is a 1.2 km long reach of the Cheongmi-cheon stream. In the study area, the restoration of the abandoned channel was carried out from July 2012 to December 2105. Physical habitat simulations were carried out for both cases before and after the restoration. The River2D model and habitat suitability curve were used for hydraulic and habitat simulations, respectively. Zacco platypus, which is a dominant fish species in the study area, was selected as target fish for the physical habitat simulation. Hydraulic simulations were carried out before and after restoration for various discharges. Then, composite suitability index and weighted usable area were calculated before and after restoration and changes in the physical habitat of Zacco platypus were discussed. Simulation results indicated that the abandoned channel restoration is effective in creating fish habitat and mitigating the degradation of fish habitat from the high flow condition.

  • During titration, several chemical reactions result in changes not only in the potential of chemicals, but also in the colors of the indicator. In a potentiometric titration, a titration curve is obtained by measuring the abrupt change in the potential at the endpoint. Generally, acid-base titration is performed by observing the color change caused by an indicator to determine the endpoint. The method of determining the endpoint by measuring the potential difference has been well established and commercialized; however, the devices that can obtain the endpoint by observing the color change are limited. Consequently, in this study, a simple and precise spectral endpoint detector was manufactured using a drop-counter comprising an infrared emitter and a phototransistor, a white light LED as the light source and photodetector, and an analog-to-digital converter (Arduino). Spectrator, a new named, showed excellent results in terms of the reproducibility of acid-base titration using thymol blue as an indicator. Herein, we present the results of the Spectrator-manufacturing process as well as the experimental results.

2020 Han River Basin flood runoff(dam) (2020년 홍수기 한강 유역(주요 댐) 유출 검토)

  • 2020년 한강 유역의 홍수기(7월 ~ 9월) 3개월 강수량은 1,110.9mm에 달하며 평년대비 131.7%의 상당히 많은 강수량이 관측되었다. 특히 8월은 평년대비 215.2% 강수량을 보이며 큰 홍수사상이 발생하였다.(출처 한강홍수통제소 월간수자원현황및전망) 본 연구에서는 2020년 홍수기 한강 유역 주요 댐의 유입량과 유출량을 분석하였다. 유출입량 산정은 실측자료와 댐 방류량자료를 이용하였다. 산정 결과 달천 괴산댐의 경우 2020년 7월 ~ 2020년 9월, 3개월 동안 유입량(후영교)은 약 5.15억m3이었으며 이 기간의 유출량(댐 방류량)은 약 5.24억m3으로 조사되었다. 같은 기간의 북한강 유역 화천댐 유입량은 산정이 불가능 하였으며 유출량(댐 방류량)은 약 22.24억m3, 춘천댐 유입량(화천댐 방류량 + 용신교 + 오탄교)은 26.86억m3, 유출량(춘천댐 방류량)은 33.60억m3, 의암댐 유입량(춘천댐 방류량 + 소양강댐 방류량)은 55.39억m3, 유출량(의암댐 방류량)은 64.69m3, 청평댐 유입량(의암댐 방류량 + 한덕교 + 목동교)은 78.29억m3, 유출량(청평댐 방류량)은 75.86억m3으로 나타났다. 같은 기간 댐 저류 변화량은 괴산댐 0.002억m3, 춘천댐 0.07억m3, 의암댐 0.15억m3, 청평댐 0.02억m3으로 큰 변화가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 기본적으로 댐 유출량과 유입량의 차는 저류량(저류변화량)과 같아야 한다. 2020년 홍수기(7월~9월) 주요 댐의 유입량, 유출량, 저류량을 검토한 결과 다소 큰 차이를 보였다. 이는 실측 유량의 오차도 일부 있겠지만 댐 저수지 수위 계측의 불확실성, 여수로 방류량의 정확도, 저수지 증발량, 미계측유역의 유출 미고려 등에서 발생하는 오차도 있는 것으로 판단된다.
